Number of Services
As a newbie to OS X server, I am proceeding with extreme caution. Right now we are running DHCP, DNS, OD (not using yet), and SMB. Is there any problem adding AFP with some share points to the server workload? We serve 50-60 client computers.
norm
The limit is hardware, not software. Since you don't mention what hardware you're running on, it's impossible to say.
Even then, the issue isn't what number of services you're already running, but how busy the server is. It doesn't matter if you're running SBM with 2000 users in the directory if no more than one or two are logged on at a time.
So to answer your question, look at how busy your server is currently (consider both CPU utilization and RAM - the two critical components) and decide from there whether or not you have sufficient headroom for another protocol. I'd hazard a guess that you do - even the original XServe G4 should be able to handle it, but your specifics may be different.

Maximum number of services for Oracle 12c
can someone please give me a hint where I can find the limitations for number of services on Oracle 12c?
In the reference guide I found: maximum number of services per instance = 115
But that cannot be true because you can have up to 252 pluggable databases per database and each one is associated with a dedicated service.
If done some trials and currently I'm at 556 services. But I cannot find a document with the exact maximum.Hi Friend,
Two Types containers are available in Oracle Database 12c
1. The ROOT container - - > This is first container and mandatory container.
2. Pluggable Database Container - - - > This is the container for application
So, Limit is - - > 253 PDBs in a One Container Database (CDB) it includes the SEED also and Services are 512 in a Container Database (CDB).
Check the following query to know the number of services
Select name, pdb from cdb_services;
Hope it helps...
Thanks

Maximum number of service in a database?
Somebody can tell me if there is a maximum number of service I can use in a database? Those services are create with dbms_service or "srvctl add service" or dbca. Those services are set in the database parameter SERVICE_NAME automatically by the Clusterware or manually if it is not a cluster database.
Thank,
GGI would tend to be suspicious just because 50 services is quite a lot. If you really have 50 distinct applications and you want to manage 50 different services, 50 different TNS aliases, etc. you certainly can. But most organizations aren't going to see a lot of benefit from having that many services and may end up spending a lot of time micro-managing things the system unnecessarily.
You would generally have separate services if you wanted to have different services on different nodes of the cluster (i.e. create a reporting service on a subset of the nodes of the cluster for reporting work so that doesn't get comingled with the OLTP workload on the other nodes). It would be rather hard to manage 50 services on the same cluster effectively-- you'd either have all 50 services spread across all the nodes, in which case there would be little benefit to having all those services, or you'd have something like 5 services on each of 10 nodes which would tend to result in poor load balancing (assuming the load profile of each application is rather variable) or lead to constant administrative "futzing" to improve load balancing.

Package number in service entry
Hi
I understand package number(PACKNO) is a unique number in service entry and also this is system generated.
In my case service entry should be created automatically from a third party system.
XI gets data from third party system and will put into BAPI - BAPI_ENTRYSHEET_CREATE.
Now XI will not get package number.
Now how service entry will be created? I have not tested this.
Anybody who worked in scenarios like this then please explain me in detail how system gets package number?
Should I need to do some custom in this BAPI for this?
Please advice.
ThanksHi,
In the case of service package created by BAPI the packno related fields
in structure BAPIESLLC are:
PCKG_NO PACKNO NUMC 10 0 Package number (ESLL-PACKNO)
LINE_NO SRV_LINE_NO NUMC 10 0 Internal line number (ESLL-INTROW)
have strictly internal character. The values for them are created
internally based on the current status of number range for PACKNO
and database entries for INTROW.
The best way is to enter some default values in these fields as this
is recommended in the note:
420334 BAPI_ENTRYSHEET_CREATE: Model for creation

Host name, port number and service name
Hi!
I have a question that will sound easy and stupid, but not for me.
during the instal of 9iAS.There is a screen ask to provide the host name, port number and service name.
Did host anme is only the name of my PC?
and what is the port number?(windows XP)
what is the format of the service name (orcl)?
Thanks
Kamalif you used LDW as the connection/service name when you setup this connection to CMS DB, then no further changes to BOE configurations will be needed.
If you used the service name PO and now it is changes to NEW_PO - then you'll have to update CMS DB connection info in CCM>SIA>Properties>Connection.
See Admin guide for details.
p.s.
BOE services should be stopped while your changes on Oracle side are done and before you change the TNS file and connection info in CCM. -
What is the maximum number of services that can be configured on a CSS?
Tim,
The suggested max is a combination of services and content rules not to exceed 300. This has been the development suggested ma for several years now.

I bought few years ago a Creative Suite Design Premium and when I want to register my series number, yours services say that the number is invalid. I very surprise because I used it before on a PC computer that doesn't work anymore. I change my computer with a Mac. Can You verify the number you customer services gave me, L. Fernandes : <serial num removed-kglad>. I give you my phone number in Paris : <phone num removed - kglad>. Best regard. Chantal
http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-serial-number-valid-product.html
p.s. this is a public forum. posting your phone number is a bad idea and posting your serial number will get it banned (or used by someone else and unavailable to you). -

Quotation number from Service order or notification
Hi,
As per the process, we create service quotation from service order using the transaction DP80. I can get the service order number from the quotation (VBAK-AUFNR). But I need to get this quotation number from service order or service notification (it is updated in the document flow). Could you please help me?
om which tables (service order or notitification) I can get this quotation number?
Regards,
SAMHi,
One option I used in the past is to call FM RV_ORDER_FLOW_INFORMATION and then analyze the result given from this FM.
Do a Where-Used List search for this FM and you will find some examples in standard SAP.
It can be somewhat challenging to understand the outcome but I can can be done.
I assume you want to analyze this after the service quotation has been created. If not then use available User Exits for the RRB processing creation. Search for RRB and consulting in SAP Notes.
Good luck, Johan -

[solved] Large number of services enabled during first boot
I just set up Arch Linux on a VM and was surprised to see a large number of services enabled in systemd during the first boot, including ftpd! I have set up several Arch Linux installations before, and have never encountered this before.
To be sure, I installed a second time. While still booted in the install ISO, I checked and verified that only a few services were enabled. After the first boot into the system, sure enough, a large number of services were enabled.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
Edit #1: found the following in journalctl. It looks like a bunch of packages are missing systemd preset files, and services that are missing preset files are enabled by default.
Edit #2: filed a bug report: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/41711
Edit #3: until this is fixed, a workaround is to get systemd-214-2 from ARM and downgrade to that before your first boot into the new installation. After you've booted, you should be able to upgrade back to the current systemd and have everything work out.
Edit #4: Fixed in systemd-216-3. If you installed and rebooted prior to 216-3 hitting [core], see here for a proper fix.

Im trying to copy existing PR's too, all works well until it comes to services. Functions return says to enter account data etc.
How should i copy service records?
Best regards
P.S. Old function "BAPI_REQUISITION_CREATE" doesnt work because of Unicode system.
