Number of SMS, Waking Z1 Up

Me again just a couple of silly questions really ... I've noticed when sending an SMS it comes up and says '2 messages' I guess to tell me my message will be sent / charged as 2 messages -- can I switch this off??
Also, apart from pushing the power button is there any other way to wake the Z1 up after being in standby?

1. A standard SMS can have max of 160 "classic" ASCII characters or 80 characters if you use any special chars, like national ones. If you use at least one special character, then the whole message turnt to UTF-like char-set and then it can hold a half of what it could without the special chars. Special character are anything like ó, ś, ć, ń etc - each one triggers "UTF" (multi-byte) mode. Consider it like normal characters take one byte to send it, while special one needs two bytes, but the message can be set to only one of those modes at once.
2. As he just said, there are many of such apps, but there are some that support accelerometer or proximity sensor. Just search google play with those words and you will find them. I personally used "Proximity actions" and "IntelliCover" but I won't advertise anything here - you need to find the one that works for you and fits your personal needs, take them as a clue.

Limit to Number of SMS recipients

I have a list of 44 people to whom I regularly need to send a text message of an emergency nature.
As late as last Thursday I could create a new text message using the default Text Message client included with my BlackBerry, select the group containing 44 contacts, and it would send to all of them with no problem.
This week I seem to be unable to send to even half of the group. The rror message reads:
2512:Too many recipients
Is this a BlackBerry issue? One of the specifc reasons why I abandoned Android was their introduction of a hard coded limit on the number of SMS messages you could send.
If thisis not a BlackBerry issue, could Telus be to blame?

FOLLOWUP:
Once I realized that Blackberry doesn't offer end user support I decided to start with the other end - my wireless provider. This is what happened over Twitter: My comments BOLD.

This is a routing error. When you send a message it goes from TELUS >> 3rd Party Routing Provider >> Recipient Carrier >> Recipient.

Are the people in your group message all in Canada?

Bell Telus Rogers. Not in Wind range. Tried half the list, same error. Managed to send to about 8-10 people.

FOLLOWUP:
A day later Telus Support called me, and now says that the error was generated by the BlackBerry, not by their system.
They say to create a new group and see if that works. I tried a group text to eleven people today selected individually, and got the same error.
Their next suggestion is to nuke the phone back to a factory reset. That may need to wait for ther weekend.

Maximum number of SMS in iPhone 3G

Hi, I have an iPhone 3G updated to the latest available software (2.2)
I want to know what is the maximum number of SMS messages I can have in a single conversation, because I want to know when I should "clear" the conversation...
Also, if there is a way to save these messages because I want to preserve these SMSs,,,
On older versions of the software some Texts were being rejected by the iPhone because it was full (on the single conversation), so I can't know that I received a new message.
Please help me out because I searched everywhere for a solution. But I had no luck

With iPhone software version 1.1.3 or later, iPhone can store about 75,000 SMS messages.
I don't believe there is a conversation limit.

Log into your carriers web site to check or use app for that carrier. The total count will be there.

Blackberry curve (8300) is adding a 1 to phone number in SMS?? will not send message?

I get an error message saying that I need to resend the message w/ a proper 10 digit number... Which I have in my address book, but then the phone will add an extra 1 to the #, making it 11 characters, and thus not sending messages.... I have looked through both phone and SMS options and have found nothing that helps.. I have turned off the country code in phone options, resent the SMS, and still had the same problem. then I took the area code off and the same thing still happened. Please help b/c I cannot text my gf at the moment????!!!
also, it adds a 1 to only certain phone numbers. i can text almost everybody else just fine, apart from like 3-4 people.

How to send a number by SMS from contact list on 2...

Guys, I cracked my brains to solve how to send a number from contact list by SMS in 2630.
Maybe there's no such option at all?
Please help!!!

I don't think there is such an option on a limited phone like the 2630.
On phones running S60 such as the Nseries and Eseries devices (and a few others) there is an option to copy a number from the contacts into the clipboard and you can subsequently paste it into a new message. Older S40 phones like the 2630 don't have a clipboard facility to do copy/paste actions.

I had to use a pen and paper last night! I must be stupid, the iphone has to be able to do this!

If you are looking to send a number from contacts, etc., to someone else via SMS or email, you need to type the number in manually. There is no copy/paste on the iPhone. From some apps (e.g. contacts, Safari) phone numbers can be dialed directly by tapping the number, but cannot be 'transferred' to a message.

Your welcome, in certain countries and some carriers, and or certain networks on older phones (not sure about the newer phones) there was some inovated ways to hide the # and there still might be someone somewhere who comes up with a way.
I know there is a App for phones that lets you change your #, someone can see that # but if they call you back you can change that # again, there are also Apps to block certain #'s, so a search on the Web might turn up something.
I hope if you find something it will be for good intent, and if you do please come back and tell us.

Online number for sms

Can I get South African number to use it for sms? I need no call but sms only. (I mean incoming sms from SA to me)

I too would like to disable this "feature" as I don't use it, nor want it.
Just yesterday, my Microsoft keyboard malfunctioned and sent a burst of SMS messages through Skype until it drained my account which contained the default $5.00 credit when I signed up. I don't particularly care about the $5.00, but I'm annoyed that by dumb luck the feature sent these messages to my director (various quantities of 1s) and about 45 of them. The only thing that stopped sending the messages was that my account ran out of money. Good thing that it's not configured for auto-recharge. I have another Skype account with money in it and to prevent a similar occurrence in that account, I'm now going to dump the credit by texting myself. In texting myself because my cell phone has unlimited texting it at least will not cost me more money.
Depending on whether or not he has a text messaging plan on his phone this could create a nice little charge.
We need to have the ability to block SMS messages just as we can with our mobile phones.

What is the max number of SMS & MMS messages that the iphone can store?

as i click on it, it takes me to there website designed for the iphone!
and there is no method to view the amount of messages sent on the 02 site!
which is basically rubbish!

Is there any way to insert number into sms on nokia 6306i? There is only insert business card option, and it automaticlly converts sms to mms! Why they have removed this option from 6303i?

Annoying problem - international prefix appears in SMS inbox

Hi!
the thing is, when someone calls, his number appear without the prefix - 10 digits only. when he sends me an SMS, it shows the country code before the number, and so, it won't recognize the contact from the address book. i can add the prefix to the saved contact, but then when he calls, it won't recognize it.
i've set all the country code and number length in smart dialing options, and also checked all posibilities for service center number in SMS text options. nothing makes a difference. my only choice at the moment is to save both number with or w\o the prefix to the same contact, but it seems weird that a smart device as the BB couldn't handle such a thing.
any ideas??
