Number of Songs Discrepancy between iTunes & iPhone

There are 1,437 songs in my ITunes Entire Music Library.  Due to problems I was having with my iPhone, Apple had me restore my iPhone 5S to "factory" settings and then back-up my iPhone to one of my backups before my iPhone began having problems.  My backups have had 1,437 songs for quite a long time.  Now the number of songs on my iPhone 5S has 1,348 songs. Why?  What can I do to get all my songs back on my iPhone? I tried "Transfer" purchases thinking it did not get my purchased songs, but it didn't change the number of songs.  I just purchased a new iPad Air 2 today and set it up.  It has 1,437 songs.

An easy route is to setup a Smart Playlist for each category - note 'matched' and 'uploaded' will both count towards your 25k limit, 'purchased' do not count.

If you live in the US launch the iTunes store, then tap Purchases, then the "not on this phone" tab. If you don't live in the US you will have to buy them again, unless the iTunes Store support staff takes pity on you when you email them with a request for help.
BTW, how many songs can you download between daily syncs?

  • I am trying to delete a large number of songs from my Itunes library without having to delete them one at a time.  How do I do that?

I am trying to delete a large number of songs from my itunes library without having to do it one at a time.  How can I do this.  All of my songs have check marks by them.  Help!

Then I suspect you do not have iTunes Match enabled. Using that "delete all" command in the Settings does not remove the music from the cloud, nor does it disable iTunes Match. With iTunes Match enabled you will still see all the music.
So go to Settings > iTunes and App Store and make sure iTunes Match is set to ON (green).

  • HT2729 I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

I have limited space on my new ipad. How can I limit the number of songs from my itunes on my imac from going to my ipad when I connect the two?

you can do this by keeping the external hard drive connected and doing the following
-hold shift key down on computer while opening iTunes and a prompt will appear to choose a library
-select choose library, iTunes should bring up your explorer windows where you can search for the external HD
-after you find the external HD find the iTunes folder you just copied to it
-after opening the iTunes folder look for the file that says iTunes library.itl or if you can't see that extenstion just look for a document looking thing in the iTunes folder that shows up as a database file
-double click the database file and boom iTunes should load your library without having to copy it to the computer
PS: do make sure that if you are going to do it this way, make sure that the external HD is connected at all times, because if you don't then you will get exclamation marks next to your iTunes songs
double PS: if you are unsure how to find out if the iTunes library file is a database file just right click it and choose properties and under the type it should say database file
    hope this helps:)

  • Difference in song numbers between Itunes and Iphone

    I have an Iphone 3GS 16GB running iOS4.3
It is set up to auto sync video and songs amongst other things.
It is configured to sync 7 playlists of which 4 are smart ones, they are all in a playlist sub-folder. According to Itunes the total number of songs is 821 or 4.85GB. If you add up the number of songs in each playlist you get a number of 1132 but as some of the playlists contain the same tracks the actual number of different songs is the 821 stated earlier.
Problem is that my iphone is convinced there are 1092 songs taking up 7.2GB.
I can't understand why and would really like the 2.3GB back for other things as the phone is full.
When I select each one individually the numbers initially tally but then the jumps are much larger.
    Any ideas?

Having sat here with a pen, paper and calculator it seems the problem occurs with the playlists that have songs already in other playlists that have been selected.
It doesn't seem to matter that some are smart playlists or that they were in a sub folder (moved them out and selected them but same problem)
As I add them the numbers tally at first but then jump beyond suddenly and I can't explain it or find out the reason.
    Very strange.

  • Different song counts on iTunes & iPhone(?)

    Greetings;
I've been noticing a difference between the synched song counts that are displayed in iTunes/Devices on the "Music" tab, and the actual number of songs that are on my iPhone. Any idea why this is?

Go into iTunes, connect your iPhone, and select it in the sidebar under "Devices".  In the main browser window, click on the Music tab.  Under "Sync Music", see if it's set to sync everything or selected playlists.  That's where you tell iTunes what to sync to the iPhone.
It's also possible that your iPhone has hit its limit and cannot sync as many songs as iTunes is tasked to do.
In any case, I'd look at those two things first.
    Good luck.

  • How can I view the total number of songs in my iTunes?

iTunes no longer displays to the total number of songs. Also the side scroll bar has disappeared. Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Marcia

You can restore much of the look & feel of the previous version with these shortcuts:
ALT to temporarily display the menu bar
CTRL+B to show or hide the menu bar
CTRL+S to show or hide the sidebar
CTRL+/ to show or hide the status bar (won't hide for me on Win XP)
Click the magnifying glass top right and untick Search Entire Library to restore the old search behaviour
Use View > Hide <Media Kind> in the cloud or Edit > Preferences > Store and untick Show iTunes in the cloud purchases to hide the cloud items. The second method eliminates the cloud status column (and may let iTunes start up more quickly)
If you don't like having different coloured background & text in the Album view use Edit > Preferences > General and untick Use custom colours for open albums, movies, etc.

  • Number of songs in an iTunes Match library?

My music library is stored in iTunes Match (purchased, matched, or uploaded).  Some of these songs were purchased from the iTunes Store, some were ripped and matched, and others uploaded.  How can I determine the number of songs in my library that Apple considers part of my 25,000 song limit?  Do I have to do some kind of manual count, or does Apple have a way to notify me of its own count?

An easy route is to setup a Smart Playlist for each category - note 'matched' and 'uploaded' will both count towards your 25k limit, 'purchased' do not count.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes library and synced iPod song list

I am sure there must be a really simple answer to this, but heck if I know.
My iTunes library on my PC has 1614 songs, yet despite my iPod being sync'd, my song list shows only 1588 songs.
So, 25 tracks have not loaded - why is this? Surely there should be exactly the same number of tracks in my song list?
    H E L P - its driving me mad.

I have a 24 track difference between my itunes library and my song list in my synced ipod. Really bugging me as I don't know why - have ensured all songs are checked, but still no answer. Where are the missing 24 songs?
Surely someone out there must know the answer - HELP!

  • Discrepancy Between iTunes and My Music Folder

Didn't really know how to word this but at the bottom of my iTunes it says I have 10,345 songs and it's 45.58 GB
but when I click on the properties of the folder where my library is, it says I have 10,829 files and it's 46.25 GB
    where's the discrepancy coming from?

Itunes is only showing you the amount of songs/videos ect. Your music folder has other files like downloaded album art files.

  • How can I find the total number of songs in my iTunes library?

I just downloaded the new itunes.  In the previous itune library at the bottom of the screen it told me how many songs I have total.  Not just purchased, but how many total songs were in my library.  I liked knowing this because I could verify my ipod was synced up properly.  Sometimes a song wouldn't download from my computer to my ipod, and by knowing how many songs were in the library, it was a double check.
This song count is gone now with this new itune version.  There no bar at the bottom of my screen that shows me song count and I've gone through all the settings and can't figure out how to know this without manually counting the songs.  Any help is appreciated.

    Dear,
In the top menu, you can choose 'view', and subsequently 'show status bar'. This shows the information on the bottom of the window.
    kindest regards,

  • Question on synch between iTunes & iPhone

Had many entire cd's on iTunes & synched with my iPhone. This past weekend, I had to completely rebuild my computer, all software was installed as new. As a result iTunes has no music, and iPhone has them all. As I read the info box on iTunes, If I synch, It will erase all my iPhone tunes. Is there a way to move all the tunes from iPhone to iTunes. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can access and transfer the music with PhoneView if you can get access to a Mac.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes Library size and stored folder size

    Hi
I'm looking around for ways to clear up my computer's hard drive, and typically it seems that my iLife libraries seem to be the bulk of it. The main problem is that iTunes claims that my iTunes Library size is some 21GB, when the size of the "iTunes Library" folder claims all the music accounts to 26GB. This doesn't include any content in the 'TV Shows' or 'Movies' folders.
The only thing I can think of is that not all of the music in my iTunes Music folder is in my iTunes Library... is there a simple way to check which ones aren't? Or is there another reason why there would be such a difference in the sizes?
    Thanks in advance.

It may take some creative thinking rather than expertise to figure this one out.

  • Discrepancy between iTunes Library and iTunes music library in Finder

iTunes is reporting that I have 2313 files @ 13.96GB
but when im looking at the iTunes music folder within Finder(username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music, Finder reports that I've got 4400 files @ 20.13GB
iTunes is set to control my library at that folder.
    What's going on here...?
This is all under osx 10.6.2 and iTunes 9.0.2
    Thanks

The stats at the bottom of the screen when you look at the Music section of your library are just for music, there are separate totals for Movies, TV Shows, Podcasts, iTunes U, Audiobooks, Applications & Ringtones. When you look at *iTunes\iTunes Music* in Finder this will contain all the files from all the sections. It is also possible that you have at some point deleted files from iTunes without deleting them from the hard disk or manually placed files within the iTunes Music folders and then neglected to import them into iTunes. If you have any *iTunes LPs* these will count as a single file in the iTunes library but typically contain 100s of individual files (html, artwork, scripts etc.). I don't know about Macs, but on a PC if the library is also accessed by Windows Media Player then there can be artwork placed in album folders adding to the file count shown in the operating system.
In short there is no reason to expect the numbers & sizes to match. That said, it is still possible that there are files in your folders that are not in your library, and vice versa. The following from Doug's AppleScripts for iTunes should help you check for any discpreancies:
Music Folder Files Not Added v2.0 - Lists files in your music folder that are not in your library.
List MIAs v1.2 - Lists files in your library that are not in your music folder.
