Number of updates now shown on App Store icon
Has anyone encounter a problem on the number of updates showing up and off on the App Store icon?
First I have to click on the App Store and click on updates in order for the number of updates to show otherwise if I don't, it will always say all apps are up to date. Sometimes it shows I have 4 updates in the App Store. I do not update and then when I come back to it would show no updates available. If you keep toggling in and out of the store the number of updates would turn on or off. This happened when I installed ios 7 on my iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.
I have just noticed, that when I open an App called Weather Pro, the red badge is gone as soon as I close it again. How come Weather Pro can make the badge on the App Store disappear?

You cannot delete the App store App. It is somewhere on your Home screens, or you have dragged it into a folder. Any folder. If all else fails Settings > General > Reset > Reset Home Screen Layout. -
Software update - now problem with app store!
I have recently updated my 15" MacBook Pro 2.5ghz with OS X Yosemite and now when i try to update some of the apps I bought with the laptop it is asking me to purchase them? Please help, I do not want to buy them again!
Also, it took over 8 hours to download OS X Yosemite and I thought it would speed up certain aspects like Creative Cloud installation however I am trying to download a trial of Photoshop and It has only reached 5% in about 2 hours!
Please help, I am a first time mac user and have no clue what to click to solve my problems!

SophI also had similar issue while update iOS7 on my iphone4, either it's a bug or? I don't know.
Though iOS 7 looks cool but if there is certain issue then it should have communicate to user after it's been released that we need to "reset all settings" in order to work itunes store.
Since, it removes all of my preferences for wi-fi, bluetooth, notifications, general, sounds, brightness and wallpaper and privacy.
I also notice that some of the features like Airdrop, camera filter/square etc. not working in iphone4, that’s fine.
Anyways, I like the iOS7 features and design.

I think you wanted to say App Store. Mac App Store is only available in Macs, not on an iPad.
She probably enabled restrictions. Open Settings > General > Restrictions, and disable them by using the password she set. If she doesn't remember it, you have to restore your device to default settings in Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings, losing everything stored in the device -

The only way to do that is to delete the apps on your phone or update the apps.

After following the instructions to update my software, the app store icon will not appear in the doc.
like already posted here you have LEOPARD. But MacAppStore is a feature of SNOW LEOPARD which is a newer OS and must be paid for. The initial version of Snow , 10.6 does not contain it, but once it is updated to 10.6.6 or higher it is included. ( The point release updates are free ).

How do you remove the "purchased" items in the "not on this iPhone" tab in the app store icon?
I want to permanently remove old deleted apps from the "purchased" list in the update section of the app store icon on my iPhone. These are apps that I tried and didn't like or didn't work or were useless or whatever. There does not seem to be any logical reason to keep a record or history of them around since they would not have been deleted if I still wanted them. This is a waste of resources on the iPhone, iTunes and my efforts.

You cannot.

It is a history of ALL purchases.
People would be complaining that they mistakenly deleted it and now could never get their app back. The entire point is to have access to any and all past purchases.
Maybe when the final product is released you will get your wish. -
Since recent update came through my app store icon has changed and no longer works.
The message that comes up reads - "App store quit unexpectedly" - and has rows of coding messages below it.
One message states
"Application Specific Information:

Looking at other reports from mac forums I believe the problem happened when I updated from OS X 10.6.6.
I downloaded the 10.6.6 Combo package and tried to install but a message comes up stating I cannot update to an earlier system as I am now on 10.6.8
Any suggestions. I am not a techie person and dont want to reboot using start up disks as I may lose everything I have on laptop.
Also, do I need to have the app store working to purchase the new Lion OS.

Open a Finder window. Select your Home folder in the Sidebar on the left. (it has a small house icon) then open the Library folder then the Caches folder then the com.apple.appstore folder.
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac.
Try the App Store.

I need help please. I have 6 apps updates shown on on the upper right corner of the app store icon. When i tried to open the apps store and go to updates, the apps that need to be updated were not appearing therefore i have no idea what those apps are so that i can update them. Since 2012 I have Photoshop Elements always worked without any problem, however now the language is suddenly German how can this be changed, removed the program and re-installed, not working. Program is downloaded and updated via the apple app store?
I've done some research on the SQLite database. Whenever Aperture hangs up (like during auto-stack or opening the filter hud) there are thousands of SQLite queries happening. These SQLite queries cause massive file I/O because the database is stored on the disk as 1kb pages. However, the OS is caching the database file; mine's only 12MB. I'm trying to track down some performance numbers for SQLite on osx but having trouble.
It's starting to look like most of the speed problems are in the libraries that Aperture uses instead of the actual Aperture code. Of course, that doesn't completely let the developers off the hook since they choose to use them in the first place.
Oh, and if anyone is curious, the database is completely open to queries using the command line sqlite3 tool. Here's the language reference http://www.sqlite.org/lang.html

Why does App Store icon show updates ready, but no updates show on update tab
My home screen started showing that I had updates on the App Store icon, three days ago. Next day it showed three, then four and now it shows five updates, but when I go to Updates tab, I get just blank screen.
There are a number of threads on this topic, not only for iPad but for iPhone as well. Appears to be an issue on Apple's side (not on our device). Not all users are being effected (I've had no issues whatsoever, for example). Nothing specific to this is reported on the Sytems status page (http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/), so the general assumption is that you need to wait it out.
You might try a search to see if there any possible solutions or steps needed to re-establish the link to itunes/app stores. Sometimes after this sort of outage there are some actions that help get you reconnected more quickly. not sure if that is the case with this one. -
I've downloaded a couple of apps from the app store. Now on my home screen there is a red "number 1" beside the icon. What is that all about and can I get rid of it.

How do I remove red dot update from App Store icon
I just updated nine iPhone apps via iTunes during a recent sync of my iPhone (5s OSv8.1.2). Update and sync both went fine without a hitch. However, the App Store icon on my iPhone still has a red notification dot with a number 9. I've gone into the app, selected Updates, and noticed that all nine apps are listed there with an "Open" box next to them. I've opened each app and each works fine. I've powered off the phone; same problem.
How do I remove the red dot notification next to the App Store app?
Thanks.Hello, I finally went to the App Store support who rang me back and went through it. It seems that Mountain Lion will not operate iPhoto 9.3.2, you have to have 9.4.2. So trashed the application in my Applications folder (which has cleared my App Store of the hanging iPhoto updater) and they signposted me to the download for 9.4.2 (mind you it is taking hours to download!!) I live in hope that this will fix it. If it doesn't I'll let you know!

When my hard drive was replaced by Apple, I had to re-install iTunes myself. Then I noticed that there was a question mark on my dock where the App Store Icon was supposed to be. I did a software update, and now the question mark is gone. How do I get the App Store Icon back on my dock?
Locate it in the Apps folder and drag it to the dock.

Why does that app update not clear in App Store on iTunes Sync?
I have noticed this as a problem ever since I upgraded to iOS8. I always update my apps on my iOS devices by a sync with iTunes. The reason I do this is because I do not like the annoying blue dot beside the app after I update it until I actually open the app. I have been doing this successfully for years. Now that I am on iOS8 I still sync to update but the update badge will not reset even though the app store knows the app is updated. The badge only goes away (resets itself) when there is a new update available in the app store. To overcome this I have turn off notification in the app store so I do not have to see the badge on my screen but I don't understand why iOS 8 is creating this problem. This did not occur in iOS 7 or 6. I thought it was initially because I installed a Beta app for Accompli but that was not correct because I did a complete restore and rebuilt my iOS device from scratch, did not install a backup. Is anybody else having this problem?
Here is how to duplicate:
Wait for you to have apps to update on your iOS device but don't update them through the device. You will need to make sure the auto update for Apps is turned off.
Download the updates for the Apps in iTunes.
Make sure you have the box check in iTunes to for "Automatically install new apps".
Sync
iTunes will sync and update the apps on your device and there will be no blue dots on the update. However, the app store on your device will see that there is no update available any more, the button beside the app in the update section will say open instead of update, but the badge will not reset. Used to be the badge would reset and they updates would no longer appear in the app store at all.I assume no one has encountered this before?
