Number of users allowed in Test Environment

Historically I have been a WebSphere administrator and we have recently started to support some WebLogic environments. Something I was told and would like to confirm is that in the test environment only x number of users are allowed to access the application(s) deployed on the application server (supposedly controlled by IP address). Once that limit is reached, it then denies everyone that subsequently attempts to login. Is this true? If so, is this configurable?

Oracle no longer enforces license-key functionality restrictions in BEA software. BEA versions of WebLogic (10.0 and prior) can download a license file from http://licensecodes.oracle.com/bea.html for the appropriate version (rename the downloaded .txt version to license.bea and put in your BEA_HOME directory). You are still required to license the software from Oracle, this mechanism simply circumvents the restrictions on functionality in software that required a license key for versions that shipped before BEA merged with Oracle.

This is a Vibe 3.3 install, on the pre-made downloadable Vibe virtual
machine from Novell's site. I have the 10-user license, and have 6
local users created in the system, in addition to the default "admin"
user. These are all local users, not LDAP users. I have made, and
deleted, a few other local users previously while testing, but currently
    only have the 6 users.
I have followed TID 7009041 to reindex the system, but that has not
freed up any licenses. A license report shows the following:

I'm not sure why local users is showing up as 11, because if I go in to
delete users I only see the 6 currently in the system. Is there some
way to look for "stuck" accounts that were deleted, but for some reason
were not actually purged from the system?

Any news on this? I'd like to role something out into production in the
next two weeks, but I'd like this error message to be gone. I currently
have only 8 user accounts in the system (which includes the "admin"
    account).
    Thanks,

  • Maximum number of users allowed by airport extreme 5th Gen.

I've created a roaming ethernet with wifi extension using seven AEBS.  Does any one know what is the maximum users allowed ( wired and wireless ) ?  I've been told the total number is 50 ( wired and wireless ) and I also remember reading somewhere stating that the total user allowed is 200 ( 50 wireless and 150 wired ).

    OK, thanks for the info.
So, you have 6 AEBS devices in Bridge Mode and the "main" AEBS must supply DHCP services for the entire network.
Normally, the AEBS will supply a total of about 200 IP addresses (199 actually) to connected clients. But, you could increase this up to 250 or so. The 6 other AEBS devices each get an IP address, so you are down to 193 possible IP address assignments for the entire network.
Each of the AEBS devices on you rnetwork can handle up to 50 wireless clients. Each of these clents gets an IP address from the "main" AEBS.
If you spread things out evenly with the same number of wireless clients connecting to each of the 7 AEBS devices, each AEBS could handle about 27 wireless clients.
If you changed the "main" AEBS to be able to issue up to 250 IP addresses, then you could have about 34 wireless clients connected per AEBS.
You could have a "mix" of wired and wireless clients connecting, but the total number of connections on the entire network could not exceed 193 (or about 243 if you increase the DHCP settings on the "main" AEBS).

  • "This field name is not known" error, for one user only, in test environment only.

Crystal Report 11 being called from BOXIR2 Infoview.
The field name is included in two formulae in the report - no errors in Dev or Production, just in test.
Any ideas why this is occurring?
    Thanks!

    Hi Helen,
The best way to test this will be to open the report in question in Crystal Reports designer on the test BOE server.
In Crystal Reports,  verify the report is using the desired connection then do a Database|Verify database.  If the report errors then we know there is a difference in the table/fields it's reporting off of.

  • How to migrate custom user attributes (UDF) from test environment to production when a sandbox is published

    Hi all,
I like to migrate custom attributes from test environment to my production environment. I read OIM documentation and i tried to fallow these steps but I cannot export sandbox and import it because all sandboxes are published in the test environment.
I exported and imported users metadata by deployment manager only. Now, all migrated attributes are in the OIM DB but I do not see these attributes in Administration Console.
How can i solve this issue? Is it possible to export published sandbox and import it in the other environment?
    Thank you.
    Milan

In OIM 11g R2 you need to export sandbox before publishing sandbox for custom user fields from DEV or TEST environment.
Then import exported sandbox in the another environment.
If you didn't exported custom user fields sandbox from your TEST or DEV in that case you need to create those again in another environment manually. There is no other option for this in OIM 11g R2.

  • Max Allowed Users on N4S Test Drive?

    Hi All,
I didn't notice in the License agreement any reference to the maximum permitted number of users on the N4S Test Drive - to save me having to trawl through looking for the license agreement again, does anyone know what this is?
I want to create about 400 users using SECATT so that I can test mass user creation, usergroup auths etc. Admittedly I could do this with far less users, but I'd like to make it as realistic as possible.
I'm also looking to lock all but a few user accounts, and set the license details for each user to "Test" - is this acceptable?
    Many thanks.

    > I installed test drive Netweaver 7.1 ABAP/Java on Linux 64 bit. Database is MaxDB. ABAP is working fine, but J2EE stack is not starting. OpenSuSE 11.1 has its own Java virtual machine, but I think I have to install SUN JDK, but wich version?
What's the output of "java -version"?
Can you tell me which of the trials you're installing? You're sure it's 7.1 and not 7.01? For the latter you need the IBM JDK 1.4.2 for Linux x64.

  • Concurrent Users for BODS designer in TEST environment

    All,
May I know the best practices for BODS testing ? Would you please share any weblinks for BODS/ETL testing related information ?
We wanted to access the designer/master/local repository by multi testers in TEST environment. What is typical practice ?
Does the tester need access to deisgner ? if so, what are main points to be checked/tested in a job design/execution in DS designer?
    Thanks & Regards.

    Hello
I don't think your testers should have access to the Designer in the test environment.  Why?  Because when you execute jobs in production it won't be via the Designer, so if you execute tests that way it's not a true test.  The execution mechanism (typically the built in scheduler) should be used in the test environments.
Multiple testers might require a separate local reposity and data areas, however the job server can be shared for functional testing, but not for performance testing.
Basic good practice for an organisation -
    Project manager scopes a release.
Developers code in the development enviornment.
A lead developer packages code (ATL, DDL, etc.) for release candidates.
Release team (or repsonsible lead developer) promotes code to QA
    Tests performed in QA
Release team promotes code to production.
    Notes -
Developers should only have access to the development environment (maybe readonly in QA to aid debugging)
Testers should only have access to QA
Operations should only have access to production.
It takes a bit of work to get your organisation working in this way, but its worth it.

  • Problem in test environment in RFC2WS service (worked in DEV)

    hello
I have RFC2WS sync scenario. every works ok in the dev environment. after import the interface to the test environment, I recieve this error below.
I also tryed to run the unitest and recieved and error in the IM stage that "root element expected" but I think it is ok, since this message I also recieved in the dev environment and as I said before, it is working as expected.
more over, if I take the measse from the sxmb_moni and run it in the MM it is successfully transfer to the WS.
I also tryed to refresh the cache and reimport the RFC and the interface and rewrite the scenario in the ID. any suggestions?

  • Table Maintenance : display only in testing environment

    Hi All,
I have a Z table , for which I have created a maintenenace dialog screen and finally assigned this to a transaction code.
The transaction code calls the maintenenace screen in a proper manner.  My requirement is that in testing environment, the transaction code should only display the records. It should not allow to change or add new entries.
How can I achieve this ?
    Thanks-

You can change the table maintenance attributes to be 'Standard Recording Routine' this will ask the user for a transport if the client is open for modifications, if the client is closed then it will allow display access only.
    Or
You could control this via authorisations.  Allocate your table an authorisation group and then only give users display access only to this authorisation group.
    Object: S_TABU_DIS
    Activity: 03 (display)
    Hope this helps.

  • Prepare Exchange 2010 Test Environment with Hyper V

    Hi
We are preparing a test environment to check the migration from Exchange 2010 to 2013 and to get familiarized with 2013. Created the VMs of existing Domain Controllers using D2V tool, looking for suggestion on  how to prepare the Exchange 2010 servers
( 2 X MB servers in 1 DAG and 2 X Hub/CAS servers in WNLB) in VM environment - either by creating VMs of existing physical servers using D2V without DB storage LUNs (Dial tone DBs) or prepare the Exchange 2010 servers from DCs created in test lab.
    Thanks in advance

There's got to be a question in here somewhere.  How about a guide to setting up Exchange 2010 that you can then use for a test environment:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff709381(v=EXCHG.141).aspx
Now, if you are asking how to configure your test environment to mimic production, you should probably get directory exports of your users, groups, and contacts (rather than trying to remove a production domain controller to use as the initial domain controller
in your test environment), since it allows you to connect between the two environments without jumping through huge numbers of hoops - it also allows you to send email between them, which can be useful when testing external connectors.

  • Aironet Maximum Number of Users

What is the maximum number of users that one Aironet would allow without the disruption of service?

Lightweight APs have a default limit of 12 clients per AP, but this can be changed. Cisco recommends no more than 25 clients per AP, but it can easily handle more. How many more simply depends on your conditions.
Keep a few things in mind:
    1. Your actual data rate is generally a little less than half your advertised rate (22Mbps on a 54Mbps link, for example)
    2. You're sharing the ACTUAL data rate with every other client on the AP. So if 20 users are sharing a 54Mbps connection, they'll all get barely over 1Mbps
    3. Any slow clients, 802.11b or otherwise, take more time to communicate with the AP and thus slow all other clients down
    4. RF space is a shared medium, and congestion avoidance mechanisms in 802.11 start creating a LOT of overhead as you increase client count significantly. This starts dropping your actual data rate, so you might start getting only ~15Mbps on a 54Mbps connection.
All that said, I doubt you'll start seeing disconnects until you hit client numbers in the 30s. But again, take all the above into consideration as you evaluate your environment, your application delay tolerance, and your bandwidth requirements per user.

  • ODI Patch Testing Environment

    Hi,
I am working on setting up the ODI environment. I am planning on having one master repository which holds three work repositories one for development and two exeuction ones for the quality assurance and production environments.
    My question is:
For my patch testing environment, do I need to set it up the same way as my production environment, i.e. one master repository and three work ones. Or is it enough to have one master and work repository only?
The whole puprose of this environment is to try Oracle patches before implementing those patches on my actual environment.

    Agents:
We are thinking of spinning a different agent for each developer. This should allow developers to work simultanously without affecting each other.
For production, we will probably have one agent and one scheduler agent as a starting point. As we see the need for more agents, we may create more.
    Topology:
I didn't follow you on this point. Shouldn't both Dev and Production share the same topology since they share one master repository? If you mean having the same number of data servers, physical and logical schemas, then we do plan to have them consistent across the environment. So if we work with one physical schema in Dev, we will also be using one physical schema in production. (Most likely will not be the same physical schema.)

  • Long delay for ManagedEventWatcher __InstanceCreationEvent query as number of user sessions increases

We have a Windows service that monitors for process start events and sends notifications to client applications.
We have discovered that the delay between when a process starts and when our EventArrivedEventHandler is called gets excessively long when the number of user sessions on the Windows server gets to about 80.
The delay gets worse as the number of user sessions gets higher.
The delays are not consistent. Even with 100 sessions some observed delays are short but most are too long and the maximum observed delay grows with the number of sessions.
Here is one example of the delay we are seeing.
A client application wrote its first log record to its log file at 11:05:34.076. Our EventArrivedEventHandler did not get notified of the process start event for the client application until 18 seconds later (at 11:05:52.188 ).
We need the delay to be less than 5 seconds to be tolerable and would like the delay to be less than 3 seconds if possible.
Is there something we can do to reduce the delay? Below are the details of our use of WMI.
We are using an instance of class WqlEventQuery to represent a WMI event query in WQL format.
We are constructing an instance of ManagementEventWatcher to consume events asynchronously.
Below is how we are instantiating and running the query. Variable m_PollingIntervalInMilliseconds is set to 1000 by default.
                    WqlEventQuery query = new WqlEventQuery("__InstanceCreationEvent", new TimeSpan(0, 0, 0, 0, m_PollingIntervalInMilliseconds), "TargetInstance isa \"Win32_Process\"");
                    m_ManagementEventWatcher = new ManagementEventWatcher(query);
                    m_ManagementEventWatcher.EventArrived += new EventArrivedEventHandler(managementEventWatcher_EventArrived);
                    m_ManagementEventWatcher.Start();
Our Windows service is not the only user of WMI services on the server. I do not know if there is contention with other users of WMI services or if there is something about the way we are consuming WMI services that is inefficient.

    Hello RossAtWFMC,
It seems that the services are working with a complex environment, and currently, we do not have such an environment which could reproduce this issue you described. Anyway, I would like to share whatever I found and some suggestions about this issue:
    >> called gets excessively long when the number of user sessions on the Windows server gets to about 80.
The delay gets worse as the number of user sessions gets higher.
This seems to show that the issue is related with the number of user sessions, it may be that when with lots of user sessions, there are something additional delay the event to be fired. As you mentions, there are other services on that server machine, if
possible, you could make a test to run your WIM service only to see if it is still delayed.
    >> Is there something we can do to reduce the delay?
I suggest that you could check this blog below which provide a way to debug with the .NET course code:
    http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dotnet/archive/2014/02/24/a-new-look-for-net-reference-source.aspx
So that you could know which method inside costs most time.
From your provided code, it is not very clear if you use multi threads in your service, if not and your event handler is short, you could have a try with it, and there is a discussion about this topic:
    https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/13f30e33-7f61-498e-a91a-ef982a63453c/event-handling-in-multithreaded-apps?forum=netfxbcl

  • Correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation

    Hi
I have a sharepoint 2010 farm it has one sharepoint server, one database server
In one server  below services are running
    Central administration service
    SharePoint Server Search
    User Profile Service
    Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application
so i want to scale out this form  to
    1 application server
    1 web front end server
    1 Search server (index server)
    1 databse server
here how i scale out to this form
1)here how i move  sharepoint  server search service to new  index server and
    2) here how i move  Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Web Application to new webfront end server
and in this single server  some web appllications are running also how i move these to new wf server
i want to do like this  because i want to test service pack 2 installation, now  sharepoint version is : service pack1
    my actual production environment has
    2 application servers
    2 webfront end servers
    2 index servers
    1 databae server
so this correct idea to scale out testing environment and test service pack2 installation
    adil

    Hi Adil,
The link below describes how to scale SharePoint Web Front-End with only web applications and the search query server  out of one SharePoint server with all roles running.
    http://sharepointsolutions.com/sharepoint-help/blog/2011/02/how-to-scale-out-a-sharepoint-2010-farm-from-two-tier-to-three-tier-by-adding-a-dedicated-application-server/
Now you have two SharePoint server with:
Tier 1 – SharePoint Server dedicated as a Web Front-End (WFE) with only the web application(s) and the search query service running on it
Tier 2 – SharePoint Server dedicated as an Application Server with all of the other service applications running on it, but no web applications or query service
Tier 3 – SQL Server for the databases
Then you would scale out WFE server with web applications from tier1. Now please install a new SharePoint server and join it to the existing farm and deploy it as Web Front Server. Enable the relevant services on Web Front servers per the topology picture
below, and stop the services running on the old server.
