Number Range in Engineering Record

Hello Gurus,
Please do let me How I can change the number range configuration to be external. As per configuration its set to be internal and its grayed out and am unable to change it to external. What should I do to change it.
Please refer below screen shot.
Kindly advice.
Thanks & Regards
Jo Pz

Hi Jo,
Go to PLM Web UI --> Objects in PLM Web UI -->Define number range in ER and follow these steps.
Select change interval and do the changes, either by deleting the existing number range or by change the number range, please make sure NR status in mind (in this case its 0) if you NR status = some number, like (NR Status =200) then you can not change the numbers from 000000000001 to 000000000200, so start different number range from 000000000201 to 999999999999.
So the number range which should be internal and which on is external.
Hope this will solve your problem.

  • Object Link to Engineering Record from DIR

    Hello Gurus,
With respect to the below post. I did the config setting and I see only the CASE GUID showing up and not the Engineering Record number.
PLM7 Engineering Record not working as expected
And also I am not able to navigate to my ER from the DIR Object links tab. I have set the screen no as 500 of the specific document type.
Kindly advice if I should the screen no or implement any note to get the ER# in the objects tab instead of the CASE GUID.

    Hi Jo,
you can try to set the following customizings:
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - PLM Web User Interface - Settings for BO Framework and Navigation - Navigation, Parameter Mapping, and Services - Define Parameters for Parameter Mapping
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - PLM Web User Interface - Settings for BO Framework and Navigation - Navigation, Parameter Mapping, and Services - Define Mapping of Data Elements to Parameters
Or you can implement the following BAdI:
Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) - PLM Web User Interface - Objects in PLM Web UI - Document in PLM Web UI - BAdI: Enrich Object Link Information

  • Current number in number range

    Hi all,
I have created an info record and the number for the same is internally generated (******163). But I find that the current number (******169) in the Define Number range for info records (OMEO) and the number generated are not the same. There are no info records generated after what I have created. What could be the problem?
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Mui

Hope you have defined correct interval.
This number jump (instead of 163 system shows 169) because of buffer in the system.
To edit your buffer you can use Transaction code SNRO
    Select the required object and modify No of number in buffer;

  • Maintain number range interval for master data upload for existing employee

    Hi  Experts,
1)I have the scenario to upload additional data for existing employees in PA. Employees are already existed in SAP HR , But additional Infotypes are required to maintain for those emploees
    2) I have the senario where i have to upload master data for new employees.
Pls give the detailed description of how to maintain number range interval i.e. External or Internal for upload in both the above scenario. Do we have to maintain number range manually in master data record & then upload it Through BDC or LSMW?

    Yes Mr. Patil...
    For existing employees
you need to execute HIRING ACTION Through BDC with External number range. While recording you have to use atleast three infotype i.e. IT0000,IT0001,IT0002. In addition you can upload other infotype through PA30.
    For new employees
While configuration you can create another number range as internal  for new hiring. and use NUMKR feature as well.
Here I don't understand that why r u looking for upload process for new hiring, if it is not mass hiring. It should be day to day activities which would be done by user through PA40.

  • How to change Number range to Contact Person in Customer Master Record

    Dear all,
We are maintaining contact person details under contact person tab in customer master record.
Currently contact person is being created using VAP1 transaction.
Can we automate this contact person creation by entering the data in contact person itself?
and where can we change the number range of contact person.
I have searched a lot to find the solution for this. Please help me to resolve this issue. Your suggestions will be highly appreciated.
    Best regards
    Venkat

    Hi Venkat,
To your first question: "Can we automate this contact person creation by entering the data in contact person itself?"
Yes, you can enter the contact person directly in the customer master in the contact person tab. A number is generated automatically.
To your second question, go to transaction SNUM, and there use object "PARTNER". Here you can configure number range for contact persons.
    Hope this helps,

  • Vendor Master Record number ranges

    Hi,
We have one requirement . At present my client is maintaining the vendor master record number ranges with 4 digits. Ex. 0001 to 9999
His present requirement is that to maintain the number ranges with 4 digits .ex. 00001 to 99999. They want this should apply even to existing records. Ex: Old number 2345 , they want the present number should be 02345.
Request you to please help in resolving the issue. Thanks in advance for the help. Matter is urgent
    Thanks
    D.K.Lakshmi narayana

    Hello Lakshmi,
It seems to me these are your alternatives.
    1) For each old vendor in the 4-digit scheme, create a new vendor master record in the 5-digit scheme with the leading zero. Then, transfer all open documents/master records (invoices, purchase orders, info records, etc.) from the old vendor to the new vendor. Then, block the old vendor.
    2) Same as previous except instead of changing all open documents, only change the master data (e.g., info records or long term contracts or agreements) to the new vendor master record and continue to use the old vendor master record until the open documents are closed. Then, block the old vendor master record.
I think option 2 will be the "safer" choice. Plus, for reporting, you will probably need to continue using both vendor numbers for a while.
Maybe someone else has an easier way...
    Cheers,
    Larry

  • Number Ranges for Purchasing Info Record

    Dear Guru's
Number range  interval for Purchase info record  can be  created and assign to group and there are two group for Stock and Non Stock materials.
Now my query is how the system pick the number range ??? Since we don't have any assignment like PR,PO
My requirement is we have 3 company code - I need to have different number ranges for purchase Info  record for each company . Guide me to achieve ...
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Anand

SAP has provided only Two standard document Types for Pur. Info Records.
IL for Stock Material ( with matl No.)
IN For material Group (w/o MMR).
By default, if you enter Matl No. in the initial screen, system automatically picks the doc. type IL and the no. range assigned to it.
If you're not entered matl. no. in the initial screen, and proceed the Transaction further, system picks the doc. type IN and prompts you to enter Matl Group.
In the second case, the system picks up the no. range as per assignment.
Here in your case, you want create a new no. range and assign to your IL/ IN.
For this, you go to the transaction Define No. Ranges in Inforecord, from menu bar, choose Group-> maintain. Here you maintain your new no. range with a name. Now your new group is created with your required no. range.
Then select your new group ( Check box), select, IL, and click assign button and save.. Your IL is assigned to your new group and system picks the new No. Range when you are creating a Inforecord with Mat No. Similarly, you can change No. range for IN also.
or one more option you have.
In the first screen of No. Ranges Transaction, select change intervals tab button, you'll be goto intervals screen. There, from Menu bar, choose Interval-> change current No. Then you reset your current no. to Zero, save it. The again choose Change Interval, then in that screen, change the Interval with your new no. range.
Here in the second case, u need not maintain new groups. Just changing the Interval for the existing group.
You can adopt any one of these options.

  • Same number range for commercial invoice.

    Hi.
Can we maintain same number range as last year for commercial invoice for new fiscal year?
if last year Invoice no is 60000001
new fiscal year again 1st no is  60000001
then what will happen to earlier number?
    Reg.
    Amol

The invoice gets stored in table VBRK
if you reset the number range, then SAP would try to post e.g. invoice 60000001 but as there is already a record in VBRK table the program will dump and not create the invoice. This will happen ongoing until  a number is reached that is not in the database.

  • Tolerance limits & Number ranges

    1. What is tolerance limits ? Why we need to use it ? What are the steps to configure tolerance limits ?
    2. What is number ranges ? How to create number ranges ?

    Hi,
    IN PO tollerence limit:
When processing a purchase order, the system checks whether the effective price of a PO item shows variances compared with the valuation price stored in the material master record. In addition, it checks whether the specified cash discount value is admissible.
Variances are allowed within the framework of tolerance limits. If a variance exceeds a tolerance limit, the system issues a warning or error message.
    PE Price variance, Purchasing  :
Tolerance limit for system message no. 207. This message appears if the specified effective price exceeds the predefined tolerances when compared with the material price.
SE Maximum cash discount deduction, Purchasing
Tolerance limit for system message no. 231. This is a warning message, which appears when the specified cash discount percentage exceeds the predefined tolerances.
    MIRO Tolerence limit: OMR6
When processing an invoice, the R/3 System checks each item for variances between the invoice and the purchase order or goods receipt. The different types of variances are defined in tolerance keys.
Variances are allowed within predefined tolerance limits. If a variance exceeds a tolerance limit, however, the system issues a message informing the user. If an upper limit (except with BD and VP) is exceeded, the invoice is blocked for payment when you post it. You must then release the invoice in a separate step. If the tolerance limit for BD is breached, the system cannot post the invoice.
Note that if you set all limits for a tolerance key to Do not check, the system does not check that tolerance limit. Therefore any variance would be accepted. This does not make sense particularly in the case of the tolerance key Form small differences automatically.

  • Overlapping Number Ranges for GL Accounts - does this allow duplicates?

    Hi there,.
I am just-trying to understand GL numbering ranges.
If I create two GL account groups with overlapping number ranges, what (if anything), is stopping me from creating two GL accounts with identical numbers.
When l try to do this in fs00 I get a message telling me that the account already exists in the company code. Surely having the concept of an account group with overlapping number ranges implies that the account group forms part of the GL account's unique key and therefore allows duplicate GL account numbers.
Or does overlapping mean the ranges ovelap but the GL account numbers have to be unique?
    Confused
    Gerald.
Edited by: Gerald Dunn on Apr 26, 2011 6:57 PM

    Hi,
Since a chart of accounts contains many different types of accounts, they can
be grouped into different account groups. Usually, one account group groups
accounts with the same tasks within the general ledger, for example, cash accounts,
material accounts, asset accounts, profit and loss statement accounts, and so on.
By assigning a number range to an account group, you can ensure that accounts
of the same type are within the same number range. Number intervals for G/L
    account master records can overlap.
You must enter the account group in the chart of accounts segment; it controls the
appearance of the company code segment of a G/L account. For example, for all
of your cash accounts, you want to be able to display all of the line items. In
Customizing, you therefore alter the field status for your “Cash Accounts” account
group to make “line item display” a required entry field.
    Thanks

  • Best practice for Number range buffering in SAP BI for FI Cubes

    Hello Experts,
I have a question regarding Number range buffering. What i have observed is if we use more number of background processes while loading data, it for sure creaets locks with NRIV table bcoz of more calls for bufffered numbers with multiple processes.
But there is a clause in SNRO while we buffer 'Main Memory' that it should not be used for Financial documents. I understand that this is for serial assignment of numbers for Documents and acoounts on the backend ECC, but does this even stand true for DIM ID's which we are buffering while loading data into a FI Cube?
I have looked up a SAP note 1398444, which talks about NRIVSHADOW and parallel buffering and different use case scenarios.
Which one of those should be used if I need to buffer my Dimension while loading a FI Cube in BI with maximun background processes?
Please help me understand the difference?

    hi,
well the message is just like a warning to signify that  incase you load more number of new records then your existing limit of buffer then you will have to increase accordingly if no then you can ignore
if you want to understand the reason it like this....
if there is not sufficent buffers space available and then process would be rollback and the existing numbers will get lost resulting gaps between the document numbers and for applications like finance this is not desirable .
    see doc more details
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/95/3d5540b8cdcd01e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Also if you are not sure you ask your basis team for Early watch alert report in their you can easily see whether number range buffering is really required or not, if yes then for which object/dimensions
Also check below SAP Note:449030 and 62077
    hope it helps

  • Error in number range while testing inbound idoc via we19

    hi all,
i have done all configurations but while testing the inbound idoc via we19 i am getting an error 'error in assigning number to idoc'..i checked and found that the number range object for idoc is edidoc in it number interval is defined from 1 to 99
i dont think that anything is wrong with the number object..
Can u tell me how dow i eliminate this error?

Increase Higher limit the reason is when you look at current idoc number ( This idoc number already exists ) ,it will not create new idoc number.
System will get the number from SNRO Based on IDOC Object.
Just look at EDIDC and see the current idoc number.
    Simple example :
I have one number - 100 ,it is already exists in database,if i insert same record to the database ,did system will accept ?
    Thanks

  • Vendor Number Range relation with account group.

    Dear All,
I have one more doubt. Kindly clarify.
I know that account group and vendor number range and linked with each other. Number range can be assigned to one or many account groups. Let's consider a case where 3 Account groups (assume X,Y & Z) have one common number range. When we create a vendor, in an account group (for example, X) vendor code assigned internally is 100000.
Subsequently if we create another vendor in the account group Y, will the vendor code assigned intenally be, "100001", considering intervals to be of 1 or any other number falling in the number range assigned to this account group?
Does there lie any rule or method which assign the code in this manner or any other...?
    EnjoySAP,
    Thanks

    Hi,
When a vendor master record is created, a unique number identifying the master record is assigned. The number comes from the number range provided for the account group.
    Internal number assignment
Here the SAP R/3 System automatically assigns a consecutive number from the number range defined, irrespective of any number of account groups attached to which the number range has been assigned.
