Number range maintenance.....

Hello, experts,
When am maintaining number ranges in OM, the current number status specified in number range maintenance is different from the one allotted to the object...for example,       Subgroup           $$S
No From number         To number           Current number       Ext
   IN 50000000            60000000            50000024
so, here when I try to create a new position , the position ID is 50000000.........while the current number status is 50000024.....how to make it 50000000n as the current number is 50000000.......
Kindly help,
Sarita.

Hi friend!
Actually I don't understand why it's not working.

  • Number range maintenance for Excise group - J_1IRG1

    Dear SAP gurus,
When I am creating number ranges for object - J_1IRG1, i am not finding the excise group for which i want to assign the number range.
But, when I am processing RG1 update  through J1I5, I can see my excise group for which i can update RG1. Issue comes when I select the material documents and try to process, system asks to maintain number ranges for J_1IRG1 object.
Can anyone please suggest how to resolve this issue..
    Thanks & regards,
    Praveen.

    Thanks Bala,
I am getting problem in testing client.
The suggestion you specified to be initiated from Development client and in development client...I have the excise group entry which i require. I am getting this error only in quality client.
I hope...the table J_1INEXCGRP is generated through customizing wizhard...It would be better if I could get some information related to customizing activity and the same can be transported to quality client.
If I go through SE12 and create new entries in the table.....this will be done through ABAP route.
Can you through some light on customizing activity...?
    regards,
    Praveen.

I am trying to work out with SAP warranty claim processing, I don’t have any idea of warranty claim processing provided in SAP, I have gone through the SAP library and Best Practices, and trying to go through.
But I strucked up @ the initial stage itself. I have assigned my username through the T Code WTY_UPROF, then trying to create a warranty claim through T Code WTY.
I have mentioned the warranty claim type as precediting then clicked on create warranty claim. system is giving a message : "For object WTY_CLAIM , number range interval does not exist".
Then I tried entering an external number WTY1 then clicked on create, this time system giving another message " Number WTY1 lies outside number range validity area"
When I go through the help of the system message it is as follows:

    Dear Keshav,
Thanks, I found that and went to Number Ranges, but system still giving error message to maintain the number range.
    "System error during group maintenance".
When I click on help of the error message it is as follows
    System error during group maintenance
    Message no. NR899
    Diagnosis
The system has identified an inconsistency in the tables for number range maintenance.
    System Response
    Program termination.
    Procedure
In most cases, you can overcome this by executing the report RSSNR0T1 (Consistency check and repair of number range intervals). This report lists the inconsistencies and eliminates them (with F11 = "Confirm").
Why this message is coming?? and what is the solution for that?? Is there any config missing for that??
    Please help me out.

Thanks for the answer, I have checked  the current number status in SNRO, After this I have generated one Idoc.
To my observation, the IDoc number generated is much lesser than the current number in SNRO.  How is it possible.
Is there are any settings apart from SNRO.
Also Is there any table to check the current number of SNRO.

  • Number Range Buffering - SNRO

    Hi Gurus,
Can any one Plzz tell me why do v go for Number Range Buffering?
It's use?? And the procedure to do it? I searched it in forum but didn't got what I needed.
    Cheers,
    Sultan.

    hi,
Tip on Number Range Buffering :
When you load large quantities of data in an InfoCube, the number range buffer should be increased for the dimensions that are likely to have a high number of data sets.
To do this, proceed as follows. Use function module RSD_CUBE_GET to find the object name of the dimension that is likely to have a high number of data sets.
    Function module settings:
    I_INFOCUBE = 'Infocube name'
    I_OBJVERS = 'A'
    I_BYPASS_BUFFER = 'X'
The numbers for the dimensions are then contained in table 'E_T_DIME', column 'NUMBRANR'. If you enter 'BID' before this number, you get the relevant number range (for example BID0000053).
You can use Transaction SNRO (-> ABAP/4 Workbench -> Development --> Other tools --> Number ranges) to display all number ranges for the dimensions used in BW if you enter BID*. You can use the object name that was determined beforehand to find the required number range.
By double-clicking this line, you get to the number range maintenance. Choose Edit -> Set-up buffering -> Main memory, to define the 'No. of numbers in buffer'.
Set this value to 500, for example. The size depends on the expected data quantity in the initial and in future (delta) uploads.
!! Never buffer the number range for the package dimension !!
Also heres the content of the note : 857998
The number range buffering for DIMid's and SID's
    a) the DIM table increases by a large number of data records for each request
    b) the size of the DIM table levels out but at the beginning you expected or observed a significant increase
    c) there are many accesses to the NRIV table with reference to the number range object of the dimension table
    d) the InfoCube or the dimension table is deleted regularly and, therefore, the DIM table increases significantly in each period.
The number range object for the SIDs of an InfoObject should be buffered if
    e) you regularly add many new data records to the SID table
    f) you know before the initial load that there is a lot of master data to be loaded for this InfoObject
    g) you delete the master data periodically and you always load many new records (this should be an exception).
How do you find number range objects of the dimensions and SIDs whose number range should be buffered?
    h) You know in advance that the dimension table or the SID table will increase significantly per request.
    i) You observe accesses to the NRIV table and you can determine the number range object directly in the current SQL statement.
    j) A high number range level may indicate that there is a significant increase for these two BW objects (valid only for BID* and BIM* objects)
                           SE16 'NRIV'
-> OBJECT = 'BID' or OBJECT = 'BIM'
displays all number range objects with number level (NRLEVEL).
Export this output to an Excel document and sort NRLEVEL in descending order. Most candidates usually have a high number range level.
You can determine the corresponding dimension tables by using the table RSDDIMELOC. You can find the InfoObject for SIDs using the table RSDCHABASLOC (the field NUMBRANR contains the last seven digits of the number range object). The procedure is even more effective if you read the table NRIV periodically and you determine the changes using NRLEVEL.
    k) Another indicator is if a dimension table or an SID table significantly increases on a regular basis.
How many instances should be buffered?
In the past, a value between 100 and 500 has proved to be efficient. If there is still a high load for these number range objects on the table NRIV, you can increase the value.
    Caution:
    - Never buffer the number range object of the package dimension table of a data target.
    - In addition, never buffer the number range object of the request ID (RSDCHABASLOC-CHABASNM = 0REQUID), generally BIM9999998.
    - Ensure that not all dialog processes are occupied permanently
    hope this helps

  • Assignment of number range to order type

    Hi all,
Please help me out of this. How can i assign number range to the order type?
    Regards
    Kaisar

Co82 let us say order number range maintenance
let us say you have created a new order type and you want to assign a new number range
    In CO82..
    Menu path  Group -->maintain
In maintain number range group screen,
    Group --> insert
Give text and from number and to number
    say text = new order
range - 100000000000 to 199999999999 (tick ext check box if the range is external number range-manual input)
    click on +
You can see your group at the end of list
In Not assigned group your new order type will be present
Place the curser on that order type and fallow the menu path as below
    Edit -->select element
Select NEW order number range group check box
    edit --> assign element group.
Now the number range is assigned to the new order. Save it, You will get a pop up, just ignore it.
I hope it will help you

  • Number ranges in OM

    Hi Gurus,
I have question concerning the org.unit and position creation -> do we have the possibility to create org.units/positin for certain number?
What I mean here is that currently our system is generating the number, but I'd remember that it is also possible to define the number also beforehandu2026would you pls help me?
    Bye
    Naveen

    Hi Naveen,
    Step1:
Go to SPRO -> Personnel Management ->OM ->Basic Settings -> Maintain Number Ranges ->
Set Up Number Assignment for All Plan Versions (Tcode OONC)
In this step, you specify whether number assignment is plan version- specific or plan version-independent, in other words, valid for all plan versions. This decision is important since it affects the kind of subgroups (number intervals) you may use.
If you decide not to work with number assignment valid for all plan versions, you must create individual number intervals per plan version (and possibly also per object type). If you decide to use plan version- independent number assignment, you create number intervals that are valid for all plan versions. In this case, there is no danger of parallel number intervals occurring i.e. the same number interval for one object in one plan version and for a different object in another plan version.
    Standard settings
In the standard SAP R/3 system, number assignment is not valid for all plan versions.
    Recommendation
If you plan to transfer data from plan version to plan version, we strongly recommend that you use number assignment valid for all plan versions to avoid objects being overwritten by others with different meanings.
    Activities
    1. Enter 'X' in the field Value abbr. to activate number assignment for all plan versions.
Leave the field Value abbr. blank to deactivate this function.
    Step 2:
Go to SPRO -> Personnel Management ->OM ->Basic Settings -> Maintain Number Ranges -> Maintain number ranges (Tcode OONR)
You can define your own number ranges (subgroups) for individual plan versions (that are not valid for all plan versions) and object types. The names of the subgroups are set up so that the first characters specify the plan version and the last two specify the object type in detail. The structure of the subgroups depends on whether you are using number assignment valid for all plan versions or not.
    Standard settings
The entry $$$$ in the field subgroup represents all number ranges not listed explicitly. You should not delete this entry.
    $$$$     IN     EX
    Example
Number assignment for plan version 1 / object type S: Subgroup 10S
after creating entry click on Number range maintenance button and select intervals. create entries for your external (EX) and internal number (IN) ranges
    EX     10000000     49999999     0
    IN     50000000     99999999     50000000
and select the check box for the first row which tells what is the external number range.
You can define the numbers as per your business needs and the one above mentioned is for just explaining what need to be done.
After creating both extrernal and internal ranges when you go to any tcode for creating object like PO10 or PO13, you can give the number in external no. range and if you will leave it blank, the system will generate the object id by itself checking the internal number range and adding one in current number
Hope this what you were lookingg for Naveen and this will help

  • PRA Production number ranges

PRA Production number ranges maintenance is split into 2 options:
Interval Maintenance For Revenue Accounting Integration Turned ON
Interval Maintenance For Revenue Accounting Integration Turned OFF
What is not clear is where to find the integration switch to identify if it is ON or OFF?

    Hi Paulo,
There will not be any switch that you can see, it is based on the scope of the configuration you determine which interval number range you need to configure for Revenue, for example, if the scope of the project is to include production module and have the number range for revenue defined to integrate, then choose revenue accounting integration turned on and vice versa.

  • HU-SU NUMBER RANGE

Friday Afternoon and I have another question......
I have a warehouse created in an HU Managed SLOC
I have also specified that this Warehouse is SU Managed.
Now I want HU and SU to be same numbers.
    I have set up
HANDLING UNIT MANAGEMENT --> BASICS --> TECHNICAL BASICS --> DEFINE NUMBER RANGES FOR HANDLING UNIT and I have set Interval 01 with some values.
    I have also gone to
LOGISTICS EXECUTION --> WAQREHOUSE MANAGEMENT --> MASTER DATA --> DEFINE NUMBER RANGES
There is my question : Do I need to enter a Number Range Interval for STORAGE UNIT, or is it unnecessary as HU NUMBERS will be used?
Also I understand I have to set up CONVERSION FOR STORAGE UNIT NUMBER in that same screen,
So again my question is in order to have same HU and SU number for an HU managed SLOC, do I need to enter a NumberRange Interval for the SU?
This is an easy one for someone who has done it before.....
    Thanks for your help,
    Alain

    Thanks for your answer.
But I guess when I do not understand it takes a lot of details to explain it to me.....
"When you use HU in your warehouses, it is only the HU number range that is needed to be defined. This number range is considered by the system for the SU's when they are in Warehouse. The HU-SU assignment gets linked when you had assigned the packaging material type to the storage unit type in SPRO for HU at WM node."
OK for that point. I think I understand the link.
But Am I right in saying that If I have also under my warehouse a Storage Location that is not HU Managed, I would need to enter an SU NUMBER RANGE in that warehouse if I want That NON HU MANAGED STORAGE LOCATION to be SU MANAGED?
    Also, in the config under
HANDLING UNIT --> BASICS --> TECHNICAL BASICS --> DEFINE NUMBER RANGE FOR HANDLING UNITS
Am I right in assuming that this number range is internal only and the user has no interaction with these numbers?
    NOW MY QUESTION :
If I am not going to use SSCC.
I still need to enter an EXTERNAL NUMBER RANGE FOR HUs in order to generate the numbers that will be created BY packing IN MY inbound deliveries.
Do I enter that NUMBER RANGE  in the following point of  config under
HANDLING UNITS --> EXTERNAL IDENTIFICATION --> NUMBER RANGE MAINTENANCE FOR HU IDENTIFICATION
If the answer is yes, do I have to select the "EXT" button? I am already in a point of config that creates EXTERNAL IDENTIFICATION.
Are these the numbers that the users will see when Packing and UNPAcking?
Are these the numbers that the users wil use to INQUIRE on the HUs?
    ETC.
IS there another place in the config where I have to enter a NUMBER RANGE FOR THE HUs?
As you can see, I am pretty confused and unsure of myself....and I like to understand things, not only do them......
So if anybody can explain it to me, it will be very appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Alain

  • Number range for process order - Bulk and Filling.

I was trying to configure the Process order number range based on order type. In the IDES/ development system, some of the number ranges are pre-configured and already in use. Even the '+' green sign at the top is missing.
I tried with 'CORN' and then selected the order type and the Number Range General at the very bottom.
Help is appreciated and will be rewarded.
For example: The FG process order to have 1xxxxxxxxx, bulk: 2xxxxxxxxx.
    Thnx!
    Abhi.

    Number Ranges
    Assigning number range
There are two types of number assignment:
    Internal
When saving a data record, the SAP System assigns a sequential number that lies within the corresponding number range interval.
    External
When saving a data record, either you or an external system assigns a number. You need to ensure that the number lies within the corresponding number range interval.
    Example
Co82 let us say order number range maintenance
let us say you have created a new order type oen for FG and one for bulk and you want to assign a new number range
    In CO82..
    Menu path  Group -->maintain
In maintain number range group screen,
    Group --> insert
Give text and from number and to number
say text = new order say For FG
range - 1xxxxxxxxx to 1999999999999 (tick ext check box if the range is external number range-manual input)
    click on +
You can see your group at the end of list
In Not assigned group your new order type will be present
Place the curser on that order type and fallow the menu path as below
    Edit -->select element
Select NEW order number range group check box
    edit --> assign element group.
Now the number range is assigned to the new order. Save it, You will get a pop up, just ignore it.
I hope it will help you
Same thing yoyu repeate for Bulk
