Number Ranges in SAP

Why does the system ignores the next available numbers while creating new materials or vendors.
Please let me know ASAP.
Thanks
BP

Hello,
This is because of the number range buffering mechanism. The numbers are usually generated and buffered in batches (See the Number Range Definition) for better performance reason; but when there is a rollback, that particular number is lost. • Vendor Number Range Conflict SAP ECC and CRM 2007

I need to load SAP ECC Vendor data from SAP to CRM and have setup most of the configuration as required. However I have an issue, the vendor number range used currently in our SAP system is already in use in our CRM system and has been for some time (for Prospects and Contacts).  What is the best approach to dealing with this issue...
My initial thought was to see if we could have two different numbers for the same vendor in ECC and SAP CRM
eg SAP Vendor "50000001" equates to CRM "VEN50000001"
Is such as approach supported?  Can you point me to the documentation that shows how such an approach could be implemented.  What approaches have others done to address similar issues?
    Thanks in advance

By the way we are on CRM 2007 sp4

    Hi Eddie,
SAP Note 1044637 - Customize Vendor Numbers
Implement the code present in the attachment. You can
change it according to your own requirements. The example code
suffixes 'VEND' before the first six digits of the vendor
number before it is downloaded to CRM.

  • Idoc internal number range by SAP

    Hello,
Whenever we create Idoc, Idoc number is generated by SAP. Can we see the number range stored by SAP to create Idoc number. [No configuration made for user number range]
If yes, kindly let me know path in SPRO or transaction to see the same.
    Thanks,
    Madhura

    Hi,
I checked in the system and I agree with both of you. EDIDOC is the object name used for Number range for IDOCS. Also, when I checked in SNRO the current number available over there was not the one which I get while creating new idoc. I checked the function module used to find the next number that will be given to the newly created Idoc.Include LSNR3F01 in function module NUMBER_GET_NEXT
There is call for a C-function which gets the next number.
CALL 'ThNoGet' ID 'BNRIV'    FIELD BNRIV
                     ID 'NO'       FIELD G_NOIVBUFFER
                     ID 'QUAN'     FIELD P_QUANTITY
                     ID 'PERCENT'  FIELD TNRO-PERCENTAGE
                     ID 'NONRSWAP' FIELD TNRO-NONRSWAP.

  • Number ranges in sap qm

    Dears
1.what are the number ranges we need to set in the system
2.what are the number range will come under client
3.What are the number range will come under palnt
Pls give me a details  answer
    Faisal

You will have to maintain atleast one interval. Go ahead and create intervals for each of the objects menation above in SPRO. Say for example go to QS39 for Inspection methods. If you have the entry blank for a plant the it wont allow you to create inspoection method in QS31. But if you enter an interval in QS39 say 01-starting number 1 ,ending number 99999999 then you can create in QS31. Try it yourself in sandbox and let me know if you still have questions.
Number range cannot be transported so this will have to created in every box. Part of cut-over activities.

  • Same number range for commercial invoice.

    Hi.
Can we maintain same number range as last year for commercial invoice for new fiscal year?
if last year Invoice no is 60000001
new fiscal year again 1st no is  60000001
then what will happen to earlier number?
    Reg.
    Amol

The invoice gets stored in table VBRK
if you reset the number range, then SAP would try to post e.g. invoice 60000001 but as there is already a record in VBRK table the program will dump and not create the invoice. This will happen ongoing until  a number is reached that is not in the database.

  • Whare we assign number range fi document

    Hi Friends,
Iam posting J1is but in this Fi document is not genarated  where assign the mumber ranges for this Fi document

    Hi Kavitha,
In the SAP System, every document is assigned a number that identifies it uniquely within a fiscal year and company code.
There are two types of number assignment:(i) External- By the user (ii) Internal- By the system
Number range in SAP system can be defined in following way.You can define number ranges for each company code. Thus, each company code can use the same number interval. You can define number range intervals as year-specific.
You define number ranges in the system separately for master records and documents. You can therefore use the same number range keys for both master records and documents.
In the Financial Accounting (FI) component, you can also define alphanumeric number ranges. In this case, however, the document numbers can only be assigned externally.
In Customizing for Financial Accounting, carry out the activity Define Document Number Ranges under Financial Accounting Global Settings -> Document ->Document Number Ranges.
For every number range, you must specify the following parameters:
A key, a validity date (a year value) until which the number range is valid and an interval from which the numbers are chosen. The intervals for number ranges must not overlap. Whether the number range is used in internal or external number assignment.
Kindly award poits if I had been of help to you.

  • Number ranges in SOLMAN 4.0

    Hello Experts,
We have both SAP users creating their SOLMAN tickets directly via the SAP Gui and Portal users leveraging SOLMAN's URL via the web to create their tickets.
Both the SAP Gui and SOLMAN URL are pointing towards the same number range and creating tickets using SAP SOLMAN Numbers. How can we segregate or isolate the creation of number ranges between SAP and Portal users? I mean how can we use a seperate number range for both these different tickets...
say Portal number ranges begin with "8888" and SAP user number ranges begin with "9999".
FYI: we are using SOLMAN 4.0 to create end-user incidents with integrated mySAP ERP2005 and Portal systems.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Sindhu

    Hi Ragu,
Thank you for your reply. They implemented the isolation of the number ranges for portal users and SAP users in SOLMAN 3.1 and they recently upgraded to SOLMAN 4.0. Now they lost this feature in 4.0 and both the tickets are pointing to the same number range buffer and they want to have the same feature in 3.1 (isolation of number ranges) to be implemented in 4.0.
    Thanks,

  • Material type number range question

I want to have an interval for which I could have external naming both for numbers and for letters. I want to have the option to name the material eg 111111111 or aabbccddg or aa11bb11nnn.
I have created a group, I have a for external numbering  - from 00000000001 to 9999999999, but I cannot create another line for 00000000000a to zzzzzzzzzzz.
    How can I do it??
    Is it possible?
    Thank you

    Dear,
Go to transaction code MMNR create number range depends on ur material type.
    Enter the number range AAAA0000 - Z9999999.
And select the External number range flag.
    path: img>log general>material master>basic setting>material types>define number range for material types
For Internal Number range Standard SAP does not support for maintaining "Alphanumeric" number range. For that please consult to the ABAPu2019r.
    Internal number assignment:
If your company uses nonmnemonic keys, you do not enter a material number when creating a material master record. Instead, the system assigns a consecutive number to the material. This number is visible when you maintain the material master record.
Further options are provided by the following SAP Enhancements:
    SAP Enhancement MGA00002
This enhancement contains three customer exits that you can use for the following purposes:
To modify material numbers entered externally by users, for example, by appending a check digit. To assign material numbers internally by customer programs
    SAP Enhancement MGA00003
This enhancement allows you to edit the display of material numbers as required. For example, a material is assigned the number 123.
With this enhancement, you can define that the material number is displayed with, for example, the prefix MAT-, even though the number in the database is still 123.
I hope it will work for you.

  • Ragrding internal number ranges fro BP

    Hi,
i want to use the internal no ranges[BP] for SAP CRM and EXternal system not like internal no range for one system and another one external number ranges.
Can you anyone how to setup both system internal no ranges and wht are the things are required to map the BP number ranges?.
    regards
    geetha

    Hi Geetha,
What I understand is you wish to maintain only internal number ranges for the business partners created in CRM as well as coming from R/3 system like R/3.
    1. First create an internal number range in Transaction BUCF.
    2. Assign grouping to the number ranges.
SAP Implementation Guide -> Cross-Application Components -> SAP Business Partner -> Business Partner -> Basic Settings -> Number Ranges and Groupings -> Define Groupings and Assign Number Ranges.
Here u can mark ur number range as Internal standard grouping.
    3. For the external system, eg. R/3, maintain setting in transaction PIDE of R/3 system.
But generally it is advisable to go for an external number range, when external systems are involved, so that we can retain the same number of the business partner in both the systems.
eg. CUST-111 in one system will be called CUST-111 in CRM as well, but keeping the number range internal will change the number of business partner in CRM like 3434 etc.

  • Transport of Number Range

    Hi expert,
Pl. tell  me the path for transporting number range for production order from development server->quality ->Production.
    Regards
    L.B.Yadav

    Dear,
You do not transport number ranges in SAP from development to production. Number range will be created as client specific, Therefore no request id is created. U have to create number range in each server.
You need to define the number range in Production server respectively,
1.Goto CO82 , check out in the nubmer range group .If you know your order type (PP01-Std PO type) which have assinged to a particular plant, then this oredr type will be assinged to Internal or External Number range group .Please check out.
2.Another way is , goto OPJH with the oreder type .Click on the Nuber Range General tab at the bottom.U will find the same Order Type assinged in External or Internal Number Range.

  • B2B Sales Order Number range

    Hi All,
We have one requirement in Billing document number ranges in SAP CRM.
For one Billing document type (ZX03) we need to assign two different number ranges , based on two different Sales Organizations.
For Example if the Billing document is created with Sales Organization u2018ABCu2019 it has to pick the number range 0001000001-0001499999 and if the same Billing document is created with Sales Organization u2018XYZu2019 it has to pick the number ranges 0001500000-000299999.
Does anyone have any idea how to get through with this issue? Which BAdi or Function Module can be used for this purpose? Any inputs on this will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks in Advance.

  • Maintain number range interval for master data upload for existing employee

    Hi  Experts,
1)I have the scenario to upload additional data for existing employees in PA. Employees are already existed in SAP HR , But additional Infotypes are required to maintain for those emploees
    2) I have the senario where i have to upload master data for new employees.
Pls give the detailed description of how to maintain number range interval i.e. External or Internal for upload in both the above scenario. Do we have to maintain number range manually in master data record & then upload it Through BDC or LSMW?

    Yes Mr. Patil...
    For existing employees
you need to execute HIRING ACTION Through BDC with External number range. While recording you have to use atleast three infotype i.e. IT0000,IT0001,IT0002. In addition you can upload other infotype through PA30.
    For new employees
While configuration you can create another number range as internal  for new hiring. and use NUMKR feature as well.
Here I don't understand that why r u looking for upload process for new hiring, if it is not mass hiring. It should be day to day activities which would be done by user through PA40.

  • Get number range by gtin

Is there any function to get number range by gtin number?
I know the webservice "GET_NUMBER_RANGE_IN" but it wants EPC number not GTIN or materialID*
how can i access Number Range for an device controller?
    Thanks..

    Hello Tuncer,
As you have rightfully pointed out the Web Service getNumberRange needs an EPC tag id.
    Question 1:
So to suit your requirement there is a RFC Enabled Function module ie BAPI called
BAPI_AIISRV_GET_NUMBER_RANGE  which generates a number range based on the actual objects
    ie GTIN
        SSCC
        GRAI
        GIAI
        DoD
So since it is RFC enabled this BAPI can also be made as a Web service and used.
    Question 2:
Why do you need to access the number range for a device controller on the first place itself. Number ranges can be managed at SAP AII level but i dont think so it is possible at the device controller level.
It will be the device controller which will be accessing the service from SAP AII to generate the number range. SAP AII does not have the capability to generate number ranges and block number ranges specific to a device controller. However i think this capability can be ABAP coded and developed.
Please revert if you have any other questions.

  • Best practice for Number range buffering in SAP BI for FI Cubes

    Hello Experts,
I have a question regarding Number range buffering. What i have observed is if we use more number of background processes while loading data, it for sure creaets locks with NRIV table bcoz of more calls for bufffered numbers with multiple processes.
But there is a clause in SNRO while we buffer 'Main Memory' that it should not be used for Financial documents. I understand that this is for serial assignment of numbers for Documents and acoounts on the backend ECC, but does this even stand true for DIM ID's which we are buffering while loading data into a FI Cube?
I have looked up a SAP note 1398444, which talks about NRIVSHADOW and parallel buffering and different use case scenarios.
Which one of those should be used if I need to buffer my Dimension while loading a FI Cube in BI with maximun background processes?
Please help me understand the difference?

    hi,
well the message is just like a warning to signify that  incase you load more number of new records then your existing limit of buffer then you will have to increase accordingly if no then you can ignore
if you want to understand the reason it like this....
if there is not sufficent buffers space available and then process would be rollback and the existing numbers will get lost resulting gaps between the document numbers and for applications like finance this is not desirable .
    see doc more details
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/95/3d5540b8cdcd01e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
Also if you are not sure you ask your basis team for Early watch alert report in their you can easily see whether number range buffering is really required or not, if yes then for which object/dimensions
Also check below SAP Note:449030 and 62077
    hope it helps
