Numbered Forms Acrobat 9

I want to create auto number forms where I would assign a range of numbers and once a number in the list was used it would expire and unable to be used twice.

Sorry, I guess I misunderstood.
If the form is only going to be used by you, then it's possible to do this
with a custom-made script that creates a random number, and even connects to
a local database to make sure the same number is not used twice.

  • Text Not Lining Up Properly in Fillable Form | Acrobat 9 Pro

I have a number of documents that were created in MS Word and then I converted them to PDF through Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro. A number of those documents have text fields that the end user will type their data into - example: a message area on a fax cover sheet.
The original Word document has that area lined such as this:
When that area (as shown above) is converted as a field in the "add fields" to the form in Adobe Acrobat I am deleting out the individual fields Adobe "detects" and instead making it one large content box.
Under properties I have "multi-line" and "scroll long text" selected.
Now the problem....for some unknown reason....some fields are working perfectly that when we type into the PDF fillin form that the text that is typed lines up perfectly with the lines (as shown above). In other instances it's not lining up at all.
I have played with font size, font type, spacing on the original Word document.I have scoured the internet and the forums with no success (either no one else is asking or I'm not using the proper search terms).
Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?
I've also included a screenshot of the document so you can see the wackiness.

You don't have direct control of the leading of a multiline text field. A common approach is to control the background color of the field with JavaScript since the lines are not really needed when the field is used in Reader/Acrobat. They may be useful when using the form by hand. Hi Shane,
Please download Acrobat X Pro from the link below.
    http://www.adobe.com/downloads/other-downloads.html
Install the software and when prompted for the previous version qualifying product, select Acrobat 9 and enter the serial key of Acrobat 9.
This should install and activate Acrobat X Pro on the machine.

When i am adding a row to the matrix it shows me a row id of 0 due to which even when i update the series nos only the first row is saved . • IOS 7 introduced bugs to Numbers Forms

The Forms feature of Numbers stopped working after I installed iOS 7. Some of the data entry boxes in Numbers Forms are not visible until I move to the next entry. Numbers itself crashes about 25% of the times I try to return to the spreadsheet. have created a new spreadsheet under iOS 7 and the Forms exhibit the same behavior. Is there a workaround for this bug?

  • Display page numbers in Acrobat Pro 9

I was just upgraded to Acrobat Pro 9. On my previous version of Acrobat, when viewing a multi-page PDF there was a field at the bottom of the page that said that I was on "Page X of Y". I deal with a lot of large documents, and I need to be able to track where I am, especially when I'm adding and deleting groups of pages.
In Acrobat 9, the display that tells me what page I'm on is missing. I've searched through the menus, preferences, knowledgebase, etc, and I haven't been able to find something that will turn this on.
I'm not talking about adding page numbers to a document. I just want to know that when I'm paging through a 300+ page PDF, I'm on the Xth page of the document.
Is this available in version 9?

  • Problem with page numbering in Acrobat XI Pro

    Hello community,
I got a problem with page numbering with certain documents in Acrobat XI Pro.
    The next error comes up:
    Translated in English:
There is an error occured when getting up of page-content.
This is occured with certain pdf-documents (i cannot uploading this file).
Is someone have similar problem, or has someone hev a sollution for this?
    Greetings,
    Bart

This usually means the file is corrupt, probably because it was not created
using a standard application like Adobe Acrobat.

  • Thumbnail Page Numbering in Acrobat 6.0

    Hi All
I have Acrobat Professional 6.06 patched on a win XP Pro SP2, core 2duo, 3gb ram, Dell optiplex.
When i insert extra pdf pages to a chapter of a pdf document the pages are knocked on in thumbnail view, if i delete the pages i inserted then all the chaptering is removed totally ruining the document. If the document is printed it reads okay with the numbering but in thumbnail view it is ruined and we need these thumbnail page numbering to be there for a customer.
    This is our procedure:
Highlight all pages to be numbered
Right click and select Number pages
    Ie. Numbering begin new section
    Prefix Chap 1 Page
    Start 1
    OK
On the final page of the chapter repeat above but:
    Chap 1 Page 9/
    Start 10
    OK
All subsequent chapters are numbered accordingly.
I now want to add some pages to Chapter 1 because of an amendment. Page 9/10 will become 9 and pages 10 to 13/14 will be added.
I insert 5 blank pages at the end of the chapter, then drop the amended pages on to the blank pages and renumber the thumbnails.
Any subsequent chapters and their thumbnail page numbering should not be affected. -- this does not happen the pages are knocked on
If I delete any page or extract and delete then all thumbnail page numbering disappears. --- This does not happen all chaptering dissappears and normal page numbering is in place.
Any hekp or advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I've never heard of the problem. But what I'd do is to figure out which of the source PDFs is causing the problem. Try recreating the combined PDF file by removing one page/section at a time to try to isolate it. It could be that that source PDF needs to be recreated.

  • Design PDF form acrobat 10 pro

Ok so I'm making a PDF form for my school to make it easier for teacher to make hand made report cards. I have an issue where I have a grid Which is a 4x3. Is their an easy wy to create a grid in the PDF form so that the user can write inside each box? The way I'm doing it now is by making a text box for each grid but it's taking for ever since I have to do it for 5 grades for each subject.
I can send a picture if you guys need a better idea. I would really appreciate your help.

Many thanks for your suggestion and background information! I re-enabled AcroTray and other acrobat-associated programs in msconfig at startup and have now checked all occasions of printing to pdf_printer that previously had led to a crash. Everything works well, now. (Although I do not know exactly why - I did not even have to resort to printing to file, as suggested. Maybe I had messed up in previous attempts to solve the problem)
    Thank you!

  • Linking multiple textboxes in a form Acrobat Pro 9?

    Hi all,
I'm making an electronic form with Acrobat Pro 9.
The setup was made in Indesign CS3 after which the form boxes were detected by Acrobat Pro 9. There is a larger text area which consists of multiple lines of text (to be filled in by the user).
For this area there are 2 options:
1- Have multiple textboxes linked together so the text flows to the next box automatically when the current one is full.
    or.
2- Have 1 multiline textbox with a larger linespacing.
The problem with 1 is, I can't seem to link multiple boxes together in Acrobat Pro 9. The problem with 2 is, I have no idea how to increase the linespacing.
Does anybody have any idea how to accomplish either 1 or 2?
    Thanks in advance,
    Bas

Linking the text boxes is not really possible, at least in a seamless manner. I've seen a few approaches using JavaScript, but none that are very well implemented. My usual suggestion is to redesign the form to get rid of the lines and just use a single multiline text box, perhaps with a faint border to indicate to the user where the field is.
If you need the lines because the form might be printed and filled by hand or some other means, then you can set up the field with a bit of JavaScript to set the background color to white if the user enters any text, and transparent otherwise. That way, when the document is printed, the lines won't appear if any text is entered, but will if not. You will not need to be concerned about the line spacing of the field matching up with the lines.

  • Saveable PDF Forms - Acrobat Standard or Pro?

We need to create PDF forms where users can fill them in and then save the completed forms (just simple forms, mainly text but also some checkboxes). I know this is a feature of Acrobat XI, but unless I'm just being blind I can't find anything that states explicitly that it is a feature of the Standard version, do we need the Pro version or will Standard do the job? I think it is in Standard but I want to check before we buy it then find we have to upgrade to Pro!
    Thanks in advance.
    Matthew

    Thank you for the reply.
When you say Reader-enable the form, do you mean to allow the user to use Reader to type onto the form and save the changes? I have found some things that imply that Standard can do this, but others that imply that we need Pro.
Just to clarify, we don't need digital signatures or anything like that. We have application forms for our products where the introducers who sell the product want to be able to complete the client's details, save the form and e-mail it to the client who then prints it off, signs it (we still need wet signatures unfortunately!) and returns it. From what I can tell the necessary feature was part of Acrobat X Standard but I want to be sure that it's part of XI Standard before we buy it.
    Many thanks
    Matthew

  • Quick Tip: How to create a fillable PDF form | Acrobat X Tips & Tricks | Adobe TV

This quick tip explains the steps and some of the terms you'll encounter when you create a fillable PDF form using an existing PDF document in Acrobat X Std. or Pro.

  • Saving forms Acrobat 9

Hi All. I have created numerous forms using Acrobat 9 Pro and I have extended reader rights so that they can be filled in and saved. When i download these forms from our server i can write into them and save. If i open this file again i am no longer able to write into it and save. Is this normal or have i not ticked some box when creating the file. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated because I'm going round in circles with this one. Thanks in advance Graham Carson

At the moment it's only me because the site hasn't gone live yet so i am creating the forms and then uploading to our server then downloading and opening in reader 8. When i initially download its running through Acrobat 9 pro - i then save to my local disk, go to open in reader 8 and then it says i can't save into the form. If it makes a difference i am using the server side to combine PDF files (with the forms in them) so that i effectively just download 1 file. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong.

  • Saving rights and date format in Forms - Acrobat Professional 8

    Hi Forum,
I have designed a form for a client in Acrobat 8 Professional, and enabled viewing rights in Reader. There will be a lot of people using this form that are not in any way computer literate, and the client has requested that I do the following:
    1. I have set up the date format (in a date-of-birth field) to dd/mm/yy, limited to 8 characters, and a Tool-tip explaining how the date must be written. However, if you enter the date by mistake as 01/01/2001, it will be allowed, and appear as 01/01/20 (instead of coming up with an error message saying the 20 is wrong and it should be 01). I understand that to the form, there's nothing wrong with this date, but is there any way I can get a pop-up box to appear if either '19' or '20' appears as the year, and indicate to the form-filler that they should check what they've entered?
    2. They want the user, when the document is opened in Reader, to NOT be allowed the 'Save' feature, but only allow them to 'Save AS', so as not to overwrite the master document, which will be stored in a folder. The information in these forms are of a sensitive nature, so they don't want it getting saved by accident into the master document for anyone to see.
I would be delighted if you were able to give me any ideas on the above.
    Kind regards,
    Liz

For #1, you can, but it would involve some custom JavaScript programming to replace what Acrobat uses as the Keystroke/Format scripts.
For #2, you cannot set up the document or Acrobat (Reader) to prevent a Save but allow a Save As. The best way to do what you want is to set up the appropriate file permissions using the OS's file system to prevent users from changing the file. A quick & dirty way is to simply set the file to read-only, but this is often easy for a user to undo.

  • Can't Distribute Forms - Acrobat Standard 9.5.5

We have recently upgraded our last XP user to a new computer with Windows 7 Pro SP1.
She uses Acrobat to create forms for our customers to fill out.
Using Acrobat 9 to distribute forms on XP for a few years no problem. On Win 7, when we go to distribute on Acrobat, absolutely nothing happens.
I have tried a complete reinstall, removing all settings etc. Acrobat is up to date, and so is Windows.
I have recorded the problem with a completely new blank form. No signatures, certificates etc.

Try uninstalling using the Acrobat Cleaner tool and then reinstalling.
