Numbering and reference to TOC

Question

I have inherited a lot of Mac FM7 documents that I have to convert to FM8. They were numbered only by page numbers. I have to put in front of the page number also a chapter number, so numbering should look something like 3-56.
I did this by creating Footer Variable <$paranumonly["NameOfTheParagraphTag"]> in front of the page number. I don't know if that was the right way but it gave me the result I want for numbering pages. But when I update book I got in TOC only page numbers without chapter number.
I made some unsuccessful changes in reference page but none gave me the result i want.
Any help would be appreciated.

If all your files will have this numbering, the easiest way is:
1. Redefine the actual "Current Page #" variable to include
"<$chapnum>-<$pagenum>" (this assumes you do use
Chapter Numbering set up in the book file)
2. Import variables from the file you changed above to all
other files in the book. This assumes you are using the
exact same value for variables in the files in the book.
3. In the TOC file's Reference page "TOC", include "<$chapnum>-"
in front of every "<$pagenum>" for the heading paragraphs.
4. Update the book.
