Numbering from standard wbs elements

Hello,
where do I have to define that wbs elements in a  project which is created by a standard wbs get the new number from the operative project and not the number from the standard wbs?
I cannot find such a setting in the project profile or something like this.
When I create a project from a standard wbs all of the wbs elements keep the numbering from the standard wbs!
Thank you.

Thank you for your answer Virendra.
I know the screen to replace the numbering manually. But I have seen the same functionality automatically in the IDES system without the question to replace and now I am searching for this setting but I cannot find a difference in the project profile.
Caused by the number of wbs elements it`s not possible to set the numbering of each wbs elements manually.
Is there any other object I can define this setting?

  • Standard WBS Elements v Operative WBS elements as templates

    Hi
I am considering the use of Standard WBS elements however one of the limitations that I have identified is that it is not possible to enter the any default settlement parameters into the WBS elements.
As our Work Breakdown structures are a combination of both operative as well as capital WBS elements (for accounting purposes) it is not possible to enter the default Settlement Profile in the project profile.  ie: Mulitple settlement profiles are used across the WBS elements for a single project profile, depending on the required accounting treatment.
Ensuring that users enter the correct settlement paramters for each WBS element cannot be gaurenteed and it does not appear possible to use sustitutions to populate these parameters.  Month end settlement is often problematic and the correct accounting treatment is essential so I am looking for alternatives.
One alternative that comes to mind is to set aside a range of operative WBS elements for use as templates.  This would then ensure that all required fields in the operative structures are pre - populated including the settlement parameters.
Has anyone used operative structures in this way and if so are there any potential issues?
    Thanks in advance.
    Ian

    Hi Hermant,
Thanks for your ongoing input.  I am still not sure my original message was clear.
The key point is that I am talking about using a range of operative structures as templates.  "lets just say the first 200 operative structures will be designated as templates."  These operative structures to be used as templates, contain different settlement parameters for each WBS element.
In your first post you mentioned.
"2. But this will not solve your purpose as copied projects will not have the settlement profile "as it is" in the std. operative WBS elements. Settlement profile gets defaulted from project profile... hence you will have to mainatin it manually again in the copied projects."
    and in your second post.
"That is what I mentioned in my earlier post... although you maintain different settlement parametes in project which is to be copied.. it won't be inherited in new project. You will have to maintain it manually..."
This is not the case, you actually do not need to maintain these settlement parameters manually when you copy an operative structure. (used as a template)  This is exactly why I am considering using operative structures and NOT standard structures as templates.  I agree, when using standard structures no settlement paramaters are inherited.
As I mentioned in my first post the Project Profile will not contain a settlement profile.  Hence when the operative structure with pre populated settlement parameters is used as a "template" and copied to create a new operative structure all settlement parameters are copied / inherited to the new operative structure.  This is the result based on my prototype.  Try this, copy an operative structure that has pre populated settlement parameters and you will see that all these settlement parameters are copied.....at least in my system that is the way it works.
I hope this helps clear up any misunderstanding.

  • Standard WBS Elements Screen layout/Settlement rule/IM assignment

Few questions about Standard WBS elements
    1. Is possible to have my own layout for the WBS element detail screens while creating/changing the standard WBS element (CJ91/CJ92)?
    2. Is it possible to maintain the settlement rules for the standard WBS elements?
    3. Is it possible assign the standard WBS elements to the IM program/position?
I know that all the above possible are only in case of operavtive WBS.
If possible with Std WBS elements, please help me and let me know.

    Sreenivas,
I´m afraid that none of the 3 options is available via standard tools

  • Removing the business area from the WBS element

    Hi Experts,
I have created the WBS element with business area. Then created the PR against that WBS element , converted the PR's to PO's.
Now I want to remove the business area from WBS element.
Now as Business area field become grayed out hence I canot remove the Business area from WBS element.
Hence I have cancelled the PO's then Cancelled the PR's. So now there is no actual cost & no commitment exists against the WBS element.
But still Business area field is grayed out for that WBS element.
Could you please let me know how to remove the business area in this case ???
    Regards,
    Pradip

    Hi,
Once BA is grayed out then you can not change the same, this is sap std. behavior. Here you can lock the existing wbse which having wrong BA to avoid further actual postings.
Create new wbse with correct BA & then create pr & po.

  • Can't change an asset that originated from a WBS element that is now closed

When we try to transfer or make a change to an asset that originated from a closed WBS element we receive the following error message.
System status CLSD is active (WBS CP-00000999-009-009)
    Thanks, Kevin

When we remove the wbs element number under the "Account assignment for investment" heading, then we are able to perform the asset transferwithout reopening the wbs. We were wanting to use that field so that our auditors could see the wbs from which the asset was created. If we do not use that field, how can we trace an asset back to the originating wbs?
    Thanks,

  • (ABAP-FI)How to get project definition from agiven WBS element

    Hi,
I have to update some columns of PRPS table relating to a WBS element.
While using  BAPI_BUS2054_CHANGE_MULTI it wants project definition to be passed as an input parameter.
Is there any means to know project definition for  a given WBS element of PRPS table.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sourya Prakash.

    Hi,
why don't you display table PRPS in SE11 to see what fields you have there? It's not that hard to see that there is a field PRPS-PSPHI with description "Current number of the appropriate project". Yes, there is a link from WBS element to project definition.
    Cheers

  • How to find parent wbs element from child wbs element

    Hi ,
I have a WBS element . How to find its parent WBS element . What should be the logic and table fields should i consider ? Please help me , its urgent.

You can use the BAPI_PROJECT_GETINFO function module to get this info.
The function is very well documented, and it looks like the table E_WBS_HIERARCHIE_TABLE should have the WBS heirarchy in it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Problem issueing material from one WBS element to another

Hi Guys,   This is my first post so be kind.
Our projects during their life cycle change their WBS element sub number.   Example New project starts with WBS element # E.7029.00.010  at some point in the project it moves on to the next level and the WBS element changes to E.7029.00.020  later in the project it will again change to E.7029.00.030.  Ok you get the idea.
Now the problem.   When the project is at the .020 level we purchase inventory and recieve it into project inventory under the WBS elemement E.7029.00.020.
Now the project has moved on to E.7029.00.030 and we want to create a production order to make a prototype.  The WBS element for the production order is E.7029.00.030  but the inventory is still under WBS element E.7029.00.020.  When we go to issue the material to the job it says there is none in inventory under WBS E.7029.00.030. Which is right it is all under E.7029.00.020.
Is there a way that we can store the inventory under E.7029.00 and be able to issue it to any sub group of E.7029.00 so that it would not matter if the current WBS is E.7029.00.020 , E.7029.00.030 or E.7029.00.050?
Since our BOM's can be quite extensive and often contain a large number of new components this would be of great assistance.
Thanks for your time and consideration.

The project moves on to another stage.   During the development of new products the project goes through several stages before the new product is released for production and sales.   For example:
    Stage 10 - concept
    Stage 20 - initial design
    Stage 30 - design refinement
    Stage 40 - Bata testing
    Stage 50 - Final design
Stage 60 - Production process design
At each of stages 20 - 50 changes to the BOM can occur.  Material would be purchased at stage 20 and could continue to be used through the rest of the stages including after release to production.   But if the material is purchased during stage 20 then it sits in inventory under the WBS element ending in 020 but when the project moves on to the next stage the material will  be used to produce prototypes for stages 30 - 60 as long as the material is included in the BOM at that time.

  • CJ20N: handle Z table's related to project and wbs element

    Hi there,
The requirement is to handle Z table for project and wbs element.
    Example:
    ZTAB1 has fields: pspnr | field1 | field2 (for projects)
    ZTAB2 has fields: pspnr | field3 | field4 (for wbs element)
I found an enhancement that can read z table into internal table, i read it into screen and no problem.
I use it for wbs element too.
The problem is when the project has several wbs element's in tree, and the user navigate and change them.
I can't control the data in internal tables, since the user is swithcing.
How does the standard sap control the memory from each wbs element and project?
How can i read and save it separatelly?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Attach a network to several WBS elements`

    hi to all,
i would just like to ask if its possible for a standard network to be assigned to several WBS elements? this is because i have a Standard WBS structure with elements having similar activities, i wonder if i could just create a single network then assign them to SEVERAL WBS elements and not just one.

    Hi,
To assign the standard network Activities to multiple standard WBS elements please follow the procedure below:
    1. Go to Tcode :CN02 (If the network is already created with CN01 or else create with Tcode CN01)
    2. Select the Network in question.
    3. hit F5, this will take you to the standard network Header.
Assign the WBS Element where this network header should be asisgned.
    4. Hit Shift+F1, this will take you to the screen where internal, external activities can be entered. Please select the relevent tab. And enter all the activities.
    5. By default all the activities are assigned to the WBS element mentioned in the Network header, this can  be seen by scrolling little right in the same screen under the column standard WBS Element.
    6. Pick the column Standard WBS element and drop it next to Operation short text.
    7. Now identify the activities to which the different WBS elements need to be assigned. Either select them from the list or you may refer to Tcode. CJ93.
    Hope it is clear now.
    Reward points if found useful.

  • Settlement of order -WBS Element

    Dear Experts,
Can any one tell me what is meant by WBS element and in what scenario,PM orders settlement rule created with category as WBS.If possible tell me with any practical example.
    regards
    KRISHNAN

    Dear,
    Dear,
Budget: Amount of resources allocated under a particular head in a financial year.
Budget Control: Having/ creating a control on the resources allocated in a financial year.
Original Budget: The initial budget that you have allocated to a WBS element.
Supplement of Budget: One time/ discrete increment in the original budget.
Return of Budget: Taking out the unutilized portion of the budget.
Transfer of Budget: Transferring the budget among two or more expense heads.
Project Definition: A framework for a business undertaking with a fixed goal to achieve with given resources.
The project definition contains dates and organizational information that are binding for the entire project.
WBS Element: Individual structural element in a work breakdown structure (WBS) representing the hierarchical organization of an R/3 project. Describes either a concrete task or a partial one that can be further subdivided.
    Proposed Business Process
Assume there are seven expense heads in maintenance department. There may be addition of expense head in near future.
Based on the maintenance heads, maintenance department will create a project in project system. This project will be used for ‘statistical purpose’ only & will not have any financial implication.
Upon creation of a project, WBS elements will be created as per the expense heads. So for each expense head, there will be one top level WBS element. Again these WBS elements will be divided in twelve WBS elements. These twelve WBS elements represent twelve calendar months.
Budget will be allocated to each WBS element & the WBS element will be released from the project.
Maintenance department will create maintenance orders as per their work requirements. These orders will be settled to cost centre, which is maintained in the settlement rule. Also WBS element will have to be mentioned in each order so that the budget control can take place. So as to capture cost from each maintenance order, the WBS element field will be made ‘mandatory field’ in maintenance order.
So when a maintenance order is released, system will do a budget check against the WBS element mentioned. If the budget check status is OK, order is released or else it will stopped from release. If the order is stopped from release, maintenance department will have to supplement the budget. Upon supplementing, the order is released again & the maintenance cost such as, labour, material costs can be booked on the order. Again the order cost is settled to cost centre & at the same time, budget is consumed from the respective WBS element.
Every year, maintenance department will copy the previous year’s project so as to save time & efforts to create project & WBS elements. And the maintenance department will assign the budget allocated to each WBS element in a financial year.
It is also possible to return the unutilised budget or, transfer of budget from one WBS element to another.
    Create a project CJ20N
    Create WBS element CJ20N
    Assign Budget to WBS elementsKO22
    Display assigned Budget KO23
    Supplement Budget KO24
    Display Supplement budget KO25
    Return Budget KO26
    Display Return budget KO27
    Transfer of budget CJ34
Hope u wull get ur answer
