Numbers 1.0.1 update won't recognize application

I'm having this same problem w/ Pages as well, but each program tells me upon opening that "there are updates", but using the main Apple 'software update' doesn't do anything...
So I downloaded the 1.0.1 and 3.0.1 updates from here, but the installer just says "An eligible Numbers application was not found in the location /Applications."
The aps are right there... so... help?

Kinda dumb from Apple? Refusing to install updates when applications are not installed in the default /Applications/iwork '08/ folder but to non-default /Applications (for example).

    Question
Firefox 6.0.1 update won't recognize the home page which uses a password access which has been saved into 6.0.1. The security shows permissions for the web site but doesn't recognize that I've been accessing the web page every day since I updated to 6.0.1. Web page trying to access is <http://classic.wunderground.com/cgi-bin/findweather/getForecast?query=zmw:98108.5.99999> This home page worked fine on earlier versions of Firefox and continues with Internet Explorer 9.0.

Looks like its been fixed for me, not by 6.0.1 but by - Todd Siechen from http://www.dvdthemepak.com

    Todd... I love you xxx
After having a nightmare since first day of version 6.0.0 and still no fix after 6.0.1, even after Apple requested the files... You fixed my problem... Checked for duplicate fonts and found about 5, selected "Resolve Duplicates" and everything great, even with old projects... You should work for Apple!

    1) The first and biggest culprit we found to be causing problems is with font issues. In order to alleviate this problem, open Font Book and make sure all the Fonts that are turned on have no dots next to them. If they do then select them and select "Resolve Duplicates" from the Edit menu. If you are using a different font manager then use whatever tool is available to make sure no duplicate fonts are loaded. iDVD 6 is very sensitive to this.

  • IPod Software Updater won't recognize my iPod

    Hey guys,
I just got a new white 30GB ipod with video. I plugged it in and iTunes said that I had outdated software and I had to download it. So, I downloaded the latest updater, and then I installed it. I plugged my iPod iin again, and my iTunes 6 (latest latest version) again told me to install the software, so I opened the software updater, and it couldn't recognize my ipod!
I can't copy a lot of songs to my iPod because it says that it is outdated, but I can't update it because the updater won't recognize that I have an iPod plugged in even though my Finder and iTunes do recognize it.
Is there something I can do? Please help me!
    Plz help!
    Thanks in advance!
    Matt.

Well, I just got off the phone with an Apple tech and you won't believe the load of c**p I am going to have to do because of the message "some songs won't transfer because your ipod software is too old."
Now, keep in mind, I have a brand new 30GB iPod video and it has the very latest software on it. I also have the latest version of Quicktime and iTunes and Tiger.
This is verbatim what the tech said:
You have to uninstall your ipod software, the iTunes software, and the Quicktime software, then reinstall all of it in a specific order to make the new iPod work.
Is that a load of crap or what?! Since when do they make people reinstall their applications simply because they have a bug in the product?!
So, if any of you are having trouble with the "old software" message, beware of what the tech may end up telling you to do.
I'm very ****** and ticked off at Apple for releasing a product that has obvious problems, given what I've seen on this board, and instead of releasing a software fix, they expect the end-user to fix their problem. That's BS!!!!

  • ITunes and iPod updater won't recognize iPod

I'm running Windows XP and it shows the iPod is there but it won't show up in iTunes and iPod updater after 'initializing' for a good 5-10 minutes says either 'could not recognize the iPod' or if it does let me restore give the 'Firmware update failure. Diskwrite error.' I have the latest iTunes and iPod update and went through all the steps in the 'Windows recognizes iPod but iTunes does not' Troubleshooting help section. All these problems started when I tried to update with the new iPod updater software and got an error, everything worked fine before. I have also tried using a friends USB cable the problem is obviously in the Nano itself. Is there any way to safely format without using the iPod updater? or what should I try doing next?
Also it seems like when the nano isn't plugged into a power source it drains the battery, with nothing showing on the screen because it always starts charging when I hook it up to the computer even though it was fully charge before.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello,
I too am having this exact same problem. My iPod nano was working perfectly until this "latest update" Since I installed that update my itunes and my ipod updater will NOT recognize my iPod. I am getting all the same error messages as you.
I have done EVERYTHING recommeded in the support pages. Reinstall, uninstall, install, reboot I've done it all a hundred times. I have over 5 pages of support documents I printed up and I followed them to the T. I have 10 different USB ports including 3 2.0 USB ports. My windows recognizes the iPod instantly, but the updater will not.
I 'm starting to think it's a problem with the update software.
Please, if anybody has any advice other than "www.apple.com/support/ipod" please post something. I have had my Nano since October and never had a problem with it and I really, really miss it right now.
    Thanks

  • Updater won't recognize 60G iPod Photo

Help Please.... I have the latest version of iTunes and upgraded to a 60G from a previous generation 30G version iPod. My iTunes works fine and songs transfer to the iPod, but no purchased music will play on the iPod (it will play in iTunes), album artwork will not appear on the iPod (and there is no selection button appearing in "iPod Options" in iTunes to turn it on), and the iPod updater software won't recognize that my iPod is plugged in at all (so I can't update or restore).

I tried all of these steps, but I'm still not getting the Ipod updater to even recognize that my Ipod is plugged in.
The computer is recognizing that the Ipod is plugged in, and it opens Itunes 5.0 like usual, but after I connected my Ipod to sync for the first time since installing 5.0 it erased like 200 songs off my ipod, and says that
"Some of the songs in the Itunes music library were not copied to the Ipod "My Ipod" because your Ipod software is too old. Go to www.apple.com/ipod to get the latest IPod software update."
every time i try to get those songs back on. I believe the songs it erased are ones I purchased from the Music store.
    Recap:
    1. Ipod is being recognized and can be seen in Itunes.
    2. Itunes says my ipod software is too old to load some songs from my library.
    3. Ipod updater 2005 9_06 will not recognize that my ipod is connected to my computer even though it shows up perfectly on my desktop and in Itunes.
    4. My ipod itself is running just fine, its just missing like 100$ worth of music i purchased : (

  • Updater Won't Recognize iPod nano.

I made the mistake of unplugging my nano when it told me not to (Updater locking up problem). Now I can't get Windows to recognize the iPod and when I try to restore it with iPod Updater, it freezes the program. I got it to work one time and it said that my iPod isn't supported by the update, but that can't be right. I've reinstalled everything more times than I care to count. Any idea what I can do to make this thing work?
      Windows XP

I had a similar problem and found, on this site, the following which worked.
"1.Download HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (Google it) and install.
2.Connect iPod to USB and set the iPod in Disk Mode (details are on website)
3.Run HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and format to FAT32
4.Run iPod Updater 2006-03-23 and select restore
    5.Run iTunes and copy music".
The only difference, I did, was run Updater 2006-06-28 and, I believe, after the restore operation I changed back to the iPod from the Disk Mode.
As with any advice I do not guarantee results.

  • IPod/iTunes/iPod Updater Won't Recognize Connection

I recently got my iPod serviced for this very issue. Neither iTunes nor my iPod nor iPod updater will recognize when I connect the iPod to either my PC or my laptop. I have noticed this problem isn't listed on the site or anything. I could really use some help here, since I can't do anything with it.

Yeah, whatever, buddy. I'm not gonna shell out cash for a peripheral I probably don't even need. Have you even noticed how many people have the same problem? It's obviously a firmware bug, not a hardware issue regarding my PCs. I don't mean to sound as rude as you sounded, but there's gotta be a better way to solve all this.

  • Latest update: Won't recognize USB mouse

I was prompted to install and restart for the security update this morning and when my computer came to, it would no longer recognize my mouse. What can I do to make it work again?
Computer: First gen dual-core intel Mac Pro
    Mouse: Logitech M500
    Things I've tried:
Plugging it into different USB ports - The mouse is not recognized in any of them.
Installing the latest Logitech software - Since the computer is not "seeing" the mouse, neither is the Logitech sw.
Using another mouse - This works! But it's a crappy mouse and I want my good one back!

I'm sure you were as frustrated as i was,  here is the solution after online chat with hp:
the problem is probably static power, here are the steps:
    1. Unplug the Power Cord from Wall jack and as well as Notebook.
    2. Take Out the Battery from the Notebook.
    3. Hold the Power Button for 30 seconds.
*Plug in the Power Cord without Battery.
    * Turn On the Notebook without Battery
    4. If the Notebook is working properly then Turn Off the Notebook.
    5. Unplug the Power Cord again.
    6. Put On the Battery into the Notebook and then plug in.
    this worked for me!

  • 10.8.3 update won't recognize login

I installed the 10.8.3 update, and now my computer doesn't recognize my password to log in. I can't get in to my computer at all. Is there anything I can do myself to fix this?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
    -LJ

    LJ,
I ran into the same problem here, and am still in the process of diagnosing it.  During everything I tried, I ended up booting into Single User Mode (Command+S during boot), and doing a 'cat' on my /etc/authorization file.
    It was blank.
I'm now in the process of resinstalling Mountain Lion from the Recovery Console in the hopes that it gives me a new, working authorization file.
If you are still working on this, I'm curious what your authorization file shows.

  • New iTunes update won't recognize my computer

I just uploaded the new iTunes update for my pc and when I go to play a song I get a message saying that this computer is not authorized to play my iTunes songs.  So I enter my password to "authorize" this computer and a message comes up saying that the computer IS ALREADY authorized.  But it still wont let me play my songs.  I even tried to deauthorize this computer and re authorize it and I still get the same message.  Can't seem to find a button that will allow my undo the last update.

    Nevermind.
Had to delete the purchased song. Sync my ipod with my computer. redownload the song and BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE. I can listen to the song through my pc and dont have to keep reauthorizing my computer

  • Keyboard Update Won't Recognize My Keyboard

I have a relatively new (2-battery) aluminum keyboard and magic mouse--and yes, I've had the battery draining problem. Today (Jan 26, 2010) I downloaded the shiny new Aluminum Keyboard Firmware Update. But when I run it I get the message "No aluminum Apple keyboards were found." Well, I'm typing on one. In System Profiler>Hardware>Bluetooth I do find the keyboard (listed as an "Apple wireless keyboard) and it shows as paired and connected. Curiously, it also shows Firmware Version 68. I've tried deleting the keyboard from System Preferences and re-discovering it, but that doesn't help. I've also tried logging into Apple Support's Talk to an Expert, but that requires that I enter the keyboard's serial number and guess what? The keyboard (which I bought from the Apple Store in Northbrook, Illinois) doesn't show a serial number where the support document says it should be. So I'm stymied. I can't update and I'm not willing to feed this thing batteries every two weeks after an update has purportedly solved the problem. I'd rather not lug a 24" iMac into a shopping center for the Genius Bar, but I will if I have to. Any other fixes I can try?

I just went through a "more frustrating than should have been" episode with the firmware update for the aluminum keyboard. (The keyboard is the small one with 3 batteries.) I was doing the update through the new MacMini (2009 with Snow Leopard) we use for our home theater.
Everything went well until the MacMini rebooted. It would look for the keyboard, occasionally find it, but not connect, and then flash a message that an error occurred. We kept playing this game for a while. I connected a USB keyboard & mouse, killed the blue-tooth, turned it back on, same thing...no joy.
My wife walked into the kitchen, looked at her Macmini (which had been sleeping) and said "How come all these widgets are on my screen?" (She doesn't like widgets.) Yup, while the MacMini rebooted, apparently her MacBook grabbed the aluminum keyboard. I had used that keyboard on the MacBook about a year and a half ago. Apparently...it's got a good memory.
Removed the aluminum keyboard from the blue tooth devices, brought it over to the MacMini, went through the set-up and EVERYTHING worked perfectly.
Probably an oddity, but something that should be kept in mind if others have a blue tooth issues and have multiple blue tooth enabled computers in the area.
    Oh well, live and learn.

  • Upgrade won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation

Powerbook G4 w/ 9.2.2 & the original CD for OS X 10.1 - thought I'd get it on and upgrade from there since I know I'll need to buy more RAM - existing is 385 & I only have 10 G on the system. I downloaded several updates, ran the security update first. The 10.1.1 update won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation.Thought I had a clue, but stuck in the jungle upgrading. Which one is which - is Jaguar 10.2??? Do I need to be doing each of these upgrades to get it running well until I add the RAM? I'm trying to stay calm since it updated my IE and I think I lost everything I had on it - too fast with the click and assumed they were separate entities....(unless there is a genius out there who can help on that front too)
    many thanks... Kate

Hi Kate! And Welcome To Discussions!
You're lucky Kappy is helping you out with this. He is one of the more knowledgable posters here!
I'm just adding some extra info.
There are two PowerBook models that need a Firmware Update, before you can install a newer OS X.
Check if one of them is yours.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.6 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
Jaguar Full Retail Version CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
More info here Tip: Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 combo update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final edition of either OS.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the 10.4.6 Combo Update.
You'll find System Requirements in these links:
    Panther
    Tiger
    Additionally,
"Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."

  • I know have a mobile me account and so my apple id is switched from my email address.  i am trying to update my apps but it won't let me as it won't recognize my new 'ID'. how can i fix this on my iphone?

I have mobile me account now and so my apple id is switched from my email address to my mobile me address.  Since I have made this change I can't update my apps. Everytime I try to sign in it won't recognize the switch. I have updated all the proper information on my iphone, however, when updating apps it still shows my apple id as my email address and not the mobile me account address. I am not sure what else to do???  I have even sync'd my iphone and tried to do it through my pc, however, it says that it can't update (nothing to update). I have ten updates sitting on my iphone apps...What to do...what to do?  Very confused.

Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. If you have any problems with that try this form: https://www.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html
