Numbers 3.5 export to PDF creates single page

When I export a Numbers 3.5 sheet to PDF, the PDF shows up as a long single file. How do I break this up either in Number or in Adobe Acrobat? It seems very odd that there is no evident way to to do this in Numbers so that it will export this way? Is this impossible? A bug? I have searched everywhere for an answer. Thank you!

Try using the menu item "File > Print" then from the Print format screen click the "Print..." button (bottom right) then from the print dialog select from the PDF button select "Save as PDF.."

  • How to split a parallell-page PDF into single-page PDF

My situation: I have a few hundred pages of files I made quite a few years ago, optimized for "self-publishing" via the printer. I no longer have any source files (my own bad). These files have 2 pages next to each other in an A4 landscape PDF. I would like to change and combine these files into a US Letter portrait PDF.
I have browsed earlier, similar threads, most notably the most referred to thread:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3331516
which recommends using Adobe PDF printer. However, as this thread points out, and as I for one have found on my own system (10.8.3), Adobe PDF printer is no longer an option on Mac OS X (version 10.6 and on):
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/556366
So the question then is: How do we now split double-page landscape PDFs into single-page portrait PDFs?

Since at least OSX.5 adobe has removed PDF Printer which was begining to fail it was written in Adobe's altered version of javascript and it was a wonder it was working to begin with They replaced it with an Automator action that's called up through the print Driver.
Here are the steps for applications other than Acrobat.
create you doucument. laying it out the way you want it.
    Go to Print menu.
click and hold the pdf button - a context menu pops up.
now scan the list of choices and choose Adobe PDF or Adobe Quality PDF (depends on version of OS)
wait for direction fields to come up and make the desired choices (the first screen is basically job options).
when asked ask for name either ecept name give or choose name of your choice.
Browse to desired location for file
    then click save.
How the PDF is layed out in acrobat is determinedby acrobat. Adobe add an additional Layer on top of the Print Driver. You can by pass it and use the Print Driver but if there is an orientation switch in your docment the page is turned so everything comes out with same edge of Paper
Oh, look out for a Grand idea Adobe did that even Forest Gump would have left alone.
If you want to do duplex printing to a PDF with more than one page you won't be able to do so whether you have your printer setup for duplex printing. You can go back and forth from printer setting s to Printer setting toggling off and on til you turn blue in the face. You have to go into the document properties and loo for a command called SIMPLEX printing its on by default and needs to be turned off. Even my cat Boots would be smart enough not to put that in.
This settinging does not permanently turn off and you have to do with each document you create or resave.

  • Color changes when exporting to PDF from Apple Pages or Word

When I export to PDF from Apple Pages or Microsoft Word, there is a noticable color shift.
The RGB color values that are 23, 76, 140 in Pages for a medium shade of blue like this but appear as 50, 61, 134 with a decidedly purple cast like this in the PDF.
Has anybody else run into this problem?  Any tips for troubleshooting?

Thanks for the reply.  It was created using Apple Pages. I tried exporting to PDF in two different ways, both with the same result.
    1. Within Apple Pages, one can click File > Export > PDF
    2. The other option is to click Print > PDF > Save as PDF
I also tried this second method with Microsoft Word, and again the color was altered.  Any suggestions that you can provide to resolve this issue will be very helpful.

It is certainly a good point that, if they need the files separately, and don't even know how to use Acrobat to split it themselves, it might lead one to question their expertise in the PDF field.

    Hi again Raja!
I did as you recommended and installed HTTPWatch and below is the outcome of that program. It is the exact string with the only exception of obfuscated servernames and portnumbers. The last part that begins with "sap_ep_baseurl=" makes me suspicious, is that part really correct? It looks like it's lacking things.

  • Create a pdf as single pages from a spread in InDesign

I have a 4 panel brochure in InDesign. The document is laid out as two pages 24.312 inches wide by 9.5 inches tall. I ultimately want to create an 8 page PDF - single tiles of the panels from the brochure. I cannot figure out how to do this.

You did set up your document with a mess!
I did another answer to the same topic today:
Create a new document (File > New > Document…) with 4 pages,in put your size of the trimmed pages, insert the bleed. First page is page 4!
You have to inform yourself on the bleed size! Ask the printer!
Click twice on the right page thumbnail in the panel and go to the section and numbering menu in the panel’s fly out menu and change to start with page 2.
Change the page to a start of a new section, start with 1.
You have now facing pages 4 | 1 &  2–3 with correct page numbers in 2 spreads. On page 1 you see the triangle which indicates that here is a new section.
When you finally export your PDF for print Export as single pages, not as spread.

  • Numbers won't export to pdf

Whenever I try to export to pdf from Numbers, I get this error message:
This is frustrating because of course the file does not exist. I want numbers to create the file. I like numbers as a program, but I can't just send people numbers files, they can't open them. I need to be able to easily pdf my work.
The method I'm using is File>export to>pdf... Then I once that window is open I select next, choose a name to save the pdf, and then I get the above error message.
    I'm using Numbers 3.5.2.
I successfully saved as pdf from the print screen, but I don't want to have to take 3 extras steps just because the export command has a bug.

Suggest in your menu Numbers > Provide Numbers Feedback that you report this problem to Apple... after, of course, you have tried closing Numbers, and restarting your Mac to see if the problem still persists. It might be a temporary glitch.

  • Creating single page pdfs from a brochure designed in spreads format

    Hi there,
So I've been asked to take a brochure that is in spreads, and save each panel as a single page pdf. So basically, in document setup, the page size is 17.75 x 8.5).  There are four panels, each panel is roughly 4.3708 x 8.5. The problem is, each panel was not created as a single page in indesign...instead, it's set up as a 17.75 x 8.5 document and the panels are created within that document size.
I guess I wanted to find out if there is an efficient way of creating these single panel pdfs from what I've been given.
    Anybody know?

It's either copy/paste into a properly laid out facing pages document (the best choice if it will need editing in the future), or place the pages, each one twice, into a facing pages pages doc and crop the wrong half off each page. In either case, you'll need to rearrange the pages into readers' spreads.

  • Page numbering wrong when exporting to pdf

I have a 340-page book, broken into about 40 chapters.  The chapters are set as the start of a section, and there are no section changes inside the chapters.  Theoretically, the pages should number consecutively throughout the book -- and they do, in InDesign 5.5.  But when I export to pdf, they get all screwed up.
For instance, the page numbers in Chapter 6 start correctly at #27, but the following pages are numbered like this:  28, 29, 28, 29, 28, 29, 30.  The last page number should be 35, not 30.
This happens sporadically throughout the book.
I've checked to be sure each chapter has only one section, and that page numbering is set consecutively.  In ID, all the page numbers are in order.  But once they get exported to pdf, they go crazy.
    Thanks............

Peter:  My reply above to John kind of overlaps this reply, so it might be well for you to read that, too.  You'll find there a whole list of problems I had with CS4; going back is not the answer.
I agree that one problem is that I don't have extensive experience with ID.  But I'm living on an extremely limited income, and I hoped the Creative Suite would help alleviate that.  I has done that; it has also added a great deal of frustration.  I don't have a huge IT budget to draw from.  The original outlay for CS4 was an extreme reach for me, and I didn't really have the funds for an upgrade.   How I would love to spend a few thousand dollars to fly to Pittsburgh or New York and spend a week or so immersed in an Adobe workshop!  Unfortunately, I live on a small town without such resources.  I have watched as many videos as I could find, and I have gone through several step-by-step books.  But you're right:  hands-on experience is necessary, and I'm scrambling to learn as much as I can as quickly as I can.
I would imagine you're right, too, when you say that bugs are inevitable in a complex program.  What I have trouble understanding is why they aren't fixed, especially considering the price of the program.  The problem with internal hyperlinks not working in epubs has been a known issue for some time, and according to one Adobe expert's post, the developers' attitude has been more or less, "Yep, that's a problem, all right."  But it hasn't been fixed.
Not only am I working on a limited budget, but I have made promises to clients I haven't been able to keep.  It's frustrating when clients are screaming, "Where's my book?" and I'm fighting with "known ID issues."  One novel was supposed to have been published in early October.  I was all ready to finalize it when I noticed the page numbering problem.  I feel I have spent far too much time chasing ID program bugs -- and I don't get paid for posting requests for help in the forums.
In reference to the internal hyperlink problem, I have attempted to "crack open the epub and do some fixing."  If that would work, I would have no problem; I know HTML.  But after I "rezipped" the files,  I couldn't read the result in any epub reader. I'd like to know how Ms. Castro puts its back together after cracking it open.  Perhaps it can be done with a Mac; as far as I know, it can't be done on a PC without oXygen, yet another expensive program I can't afford.   (However, after going to her website, I have decided I need to buy her book.  Thanks for that tip!)
I do appreciate your help, and I apologize for getting so impatient.  I hope you and the other moderators will be patient with me.  I'm working hard to learn as fast and as much as I can and sometimes the frustration gets overwhelming.

  • Creating single page PDF with only icon visible

I'm trying to create a single page PDF that, when attached to

Ah, sorry for the exporting misunderstanding. I thought it was implied that since you can't export using a product, it's through ID. The NitroPDF is what it is exporting to and thus where I thought there could potentially be a driver disconnect within the workflow.
I'm confused. From ID you export to PDF (and get asked where to save the file). It sounds more like you are printing to PDF using Nitro PDF as a substitute for Distiller. Would you mind listing the commands you use to do that so I understand the workflow?
And I guess things have changed with reader... the X version gives you a limited amount of printing, according to the download site? Never heard of that before.... Who knew? I was always steered towards Acrobat Distiller if using any printing where an Adobe product was accessible.
What do you mean by a limited amount of printing? Distiller has no print function at all, nor any other fuction than to distill postscript into (flattened and primitive) PDF.

  • Score export to PDF creating corrupt file

I have a three page score in the "guitar mix" format. Using the camera tool to export to a PDF, page 1 comes out fine, but pgs 2 and 3 won't open in Preview. It says the file is corrupt.
I have restarted the machine already. No change.

When you print to Pdf check the Page Setup box Scale does not say a tiny percentage like 2% or something. Check that it is 100%...
    Hope this helps.

  • Fonts in PDF created from Pages doesn't present correctly on Windows PCs

The fonts documents that I'm creating in Pages and then converting to PDF, aren't presenting properly to people using Windows PC's. Some of the fonts are "wonky".
What I'm doing is creating documents in Pages and then creating PDF's either by Print, save as PDF or Share, Export, PDF.
On my MacBook and iPad the PDFs are perfect. However when viewed on Windows, they are wonky. Not all of the document/fonts are messed up. An example of a font that appears wonky, is Baskerville.
I've used Adobe Reader to check whether the fonts appear embedded, and they seem to be there.
This is a huge problem for me because, at the moment, all documents I'm sending to clients who use Windows, are looking really unprofessional.
    Any suggestions or solutions?
    Anyone else seen this?

Since the problem is to be seen in Adobe Reader for Microsoft Windows, you might want to ask a forum at Adobe.com. There is no way of knowing what you mean by 'wonky.'
The principle is that the scalable glyph shapes in the font program are subset and the subset of glyph shapes is inserted with the start point and the set widths that are used for drawing ('showing') the glyphs in the graphic co-ordinate geometry that you have defined in the document setup dialogue. There are two basic ways to embed Apple SFNT-housed TrueType (which is what your Baskerville is, if it is the one that installs with the system software) in Adobe PDF, either as several font programs each with a max of 256 glyphs or as a single font program within which there are several tiled font programs. Both are basically hacks, because Adobe PDF cannot contain the Unicode and TrueType glyph run complete, the way Adobe PDF 1.3 and higher can in fact contain the ICC ColorWorld complete. But that is a monster bug matrix that is beyond this discussion - only that you need to understand what you are seeing in the dialogue for embedded fonts shown in Adobe Acrobat products. That is, the fonts are always re-encoded and are never the original, intact fonts.

  • Display size of PDF created by Pages in Browsers

    Hi,
I have created a document using pages and exported it as PDF.
Looking at it in Pages (scale 100%) is fine. It prints DIN A4 perfectly.
I put it on my Web-Server and put a link to it . Except for Firefox, no matter what other browser I try it comes up huge. I know, one can change the display scale in most browsers, (can't find it in IE8) but it is a nuisance. Other peoples PDF's don't seem to do this. Has it to do with it being created by Pages or does anyone know any other reason/solution?
    Thanks
    -Paul-

Pages PDF generation is not the problem.
With the same Acrobat Reader 11.0.02 installed on Windows 7 and OS X 10.8.3, the page display resolution reported by Reader on OS X is 81 ppi, and on Windows, as 96 ppi. Simply put, the same PDF, at the same enlargement setting, would image smaller on OS X than when viewed on Windows 7.
You can test this easily. On the Mac, open a PDF in Reader. Open the Reader preferences and visit Page display > Resolution. Key in 96 ppi and press ok. The PDF image enlarges.
Browsers that still use the Acrobat PDF plugin, or use Reader as a helper application, allow the user to change the viewed PDF enlargement setting, but not the display resolution used. Browsers that offer built-in PDF viewing support (Chrome, Firefox 19) do not. I changed the Reader page display resolution preference, and the Acrobat PDF plug-in did not change viewed PDF size. Even on a refresh of the PDF. It may be hard-wired to use the system default or a calculated default -- perhaps as do the Chrome and current Firefox PDF solutions.
