Numbers Added to Exported files in CS6

Is there any way to prevent Illustrator from adding numbers to the end of exported files? It's really annoying because I end up with a bunch of extra files and only need the single exported version that I overwrite when making changes to the AI file. It's also annoying when I have an exported file linked in a Premiere or Indesign file. I was last using CS3 wich didn't have this 'feature.'

Right, but why have an extra step with an unecessary work around? There should be a setting to control files names with artboard exports...

  • How can I export files from my ipod classic and reset it without losing content and syncing it to a new library?

I'm trying to export the files that exist on an ipod classic. It belongs to my girlfriend, and she doesn't want to lose any of the music on it. But she wants to sync to a new PC and not lose the content. So, I want to export all the files and then place those files plus start a new itunes library with it. If I were to sync to my PC, would it erase all of the existing data? Can I buy/download a program that would allow me to upload all of the existing content on her ipod classic to my PC and then take that and place it back on by syncing it through her new laptop and adding the exported files....?

  • File Export menu in CS6 does not work properly?

    Two main issues:
    1. If I downsample a 96kHz audio file to 44k1 for example I have the option to impose an anti-alias low-pass brickwall filter in the export path or not. This is a good idea. However as implemented in the Audition CS6 system we have, Adobe has the tick-box configured incorrectly. With the box ticked the filter is switched out, and with the box unticked the filter is switched in. This should be debugged and fixed. It makes me worry that other configurations might be wrong.
    2. The defaults for the implementation of dither in the export of a file are inconsistent. The default should be that whenever audio data are changed by any processing, dither is applied in the exported file. This is inconsistent in Audition CS6 on our system and we have to go through all the setup for each export.

    Thanks Steve.
I agree about the quality of Audition's sample-rate conversion. It is very good indeed and one reason we bought Audition. I also agree about the perverse logic of Audition having a tick in the box to turn the low-pass filter off, rather than on. This is is counter-intuitive, even if the excuse is that it is how it has always been historically in Audition or maybe even CoolEdit (which I have never used). Maybe Adobe could consider retitling this function so the logic is more obvious to newcomers. The riddle of how to combine requirements for 96k/24 high-res masters for one market with the needs for 44k1/16 delivery for CD, downloads and streamers remains a riddle if we are not to make our 44k1/16 masters (the main market) sound inferior to having made them 88k2 or 44k1 originally.
As for dither. My experience has been that one stage of unintended truncation does typically approximately five to ten times as much damage (irreparably) to a clean recording as does one stage of unintended dithering. I am only talking about default settings which can or should be easily overridden either in 'settings' or 'preferences' somewhere within Audition, or overridden on any single or multiple instance of exporting. The mathematics are against you on this one. If you have a 96k/24 original file and want to export a straight 96k16 file or 44k1/24 or 44k1/16 version, for me dither is obligatory. The same if you are exporting a 96k/24 file after processing. Whatever happens next. If you are exporting 96k/32 then maybe, I stress maybe, no dither is ok. Otherwise you get truncation errors, with a shower of unwanted side-effects and squeaks. That is one problem with digits rather than analogue. With digits you don't get extra random relatively benign noise with repeated undithered generations of copying, processing, transfers. The artefacts are much better described as errors and they are a shower of correlated noises. They are programme related, clock related or a combination of both so the ear is much more likely to pick them out as something less benign than two bits of pk-pk flat dither.
I understand the effects may depend on the programme material, but even two bits of pk-pk flat dither of a 16bit stream is typically 16dB to 20dB below the broadband background noise of a classical chamber music recording in a typical real-world venue. With commercial music the dynamic range tends to be compressed, so the dither will be even less perceptiable because there are fewer extended quiet sections of programme. I would prefer the effective noise level to increase by even a dB or so, if the alternative is gradually making a violin sound more and more like breaking glass from the effects of truncation.
We have been doing listening tests on dither in association with the development of new high-res delivery products. It has been interesting that no listeners detected dither as a noise 'problem' during any of the tests - even when we tried adding a lot more than 2bits' worth. In general either one noticed no change or a slight improvement subjectively with more than 2bits' worth of dither. The only negative thing we detected was that adding multiple layers of so-called random dither sometimes brought attention to the fact that it was sometimes not quite as 'random' as it should be.

  • Problem exporting Prores proxy files in CS6

I have a bunch of Apple Prores proxy files which were created from RAW DNG files in DaVinci Resolve. I have completed an edit of a music video with these files in Premiere Pro CS6. However when I try to export the files from the timeline, the exported file seems to have linked to all the wrong clips, and the whole video seems to be a random mish-mash of clips. The timecodes of the clips all seems accurate, and they display perfectly within CS6 and in quicktime.
Wondering why the clips display fine on the timeline, allowing me to edit the video in-sync, however will not export properly?

how I can export files from CS5.5 to send for further editing in CS6 and no lose quality?

If all you need for further editing is the contents of your Timeline,
then you should follow Harm's sage advice.
    Lagarith Lossless Video Codec
    http://lags.leetcode.net/codec.html
    Ut Video Codec Suite
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Ut-Video-Codec-Suite
But, if you will need all of your source media files to continue the edit,
you should consider using the Project Manager.
    Trim or copy your project
By using the Project Manager, you will be continuing the edit
with the original media files and there will be no quality loss.
Be aware that once you have edited the project in CS6,
it will be problematic (but not impossible) to return to edit in CS5.5.

  • Premiere Pro CS6 - video noise in the exported file

    Hi everyone,
Im trying to make the transition from FCP7 to Premiere Pro CS6. I edited my first project with Premiere Pro and exported the sequence. However I noticed that the exported file had more video noise than the original clips.
The material is shot by Canon 5D Mark III and edited natively in the Premiere's timeline. Then they are exported to ProRes 422. After noticing the noise I exported the sequence as "match the sequence settings" and it created the .mpeg file. Same thing, there was noise. I then tried another other formats of that same clip and transcoded the Mark III footage to Xdcam EX 1080p before sending to premiere. Same thing, no matter what I did.
The only way i got the exported file to look the same as original file, was to convert the files before sending to ProRes 422, then edit those files in Premiere in the sequence thats settings are XDCAM EX 1080p and then to export it to ProRes422.
Do you have any thoughts for this. The noise I'm talking about is not a huge amount of noise but definitely noticeable if you look the FULL-HD material.
I really hope there is some setting I missed. Im using Mac pro 2009 and Macbook pro 2011.
    Thanks

  • Illustrator CS6 : Some layers are missing when exporting files

    Hello all,
I'm trying to export my project for use in Adobe Director 11, and I'm encountering a problem with the export feature that I believe to be a legit bug, and seeing from the amount of threads related with my problem, I believe some other people have encountered it too. I provided some pics for an easier explanation.
So.. firstly, the image below is the screenshot of my project in AI, combination of paths, mask and pictures.
Next I'm trying to export it to PNG without artboard & use transparent background. Notice that the export preview still shows the image that I expect as the export result.
    Below is the exported image.
As you can see, some part of the project is 'missing' in the exported files. The problem still occurred no matter I exported it to png, jpg, even psd. Changing the export resolution and anti-aliasing setting doesn't help.
I've encountered the same problem with different project for at least 5 times in like the last 8 months, and I find that each time I encountered the problem, it can only be temporary fixed by some specific procedures and sometimes each problem won't work with the same workaround. For example, one time I can properly export the project after I copy & paste the 'missing' layers and delete the original layers, in other time I have to select the 'missing' layers, move it a little and then move them back to its first location in order to export it properly. I also find that copying the entire layer that I want to export to a new document works a few times. I can't remember some other solutions I have tried that works, but if these solutions doesn't work anymore, I have to find another and it's pretty confusing since it happen to be 'random'.
Since I believe that this happen to be a program bug, I would love if one of those Adobe guy read this post and direct the problem directly to the AI team or something so it can be fixed in the next updates. Until then, anyone ever experienced the problem? What did you guys do to 'fix' the problem?
Many thanks for people who help me here.
P.S. As I'm writing the last part, exporting my current project to PNG with transparent background seems to be working properly after I tried to export to PNG with white as the background color, I dunno  why, but it works now. I still want to know other workarounds to 'fix' the problem though, that could be helpful for other people out there.

The first thing I was going to ask was if you saved as PDF earlier, but then I noticed you specifically said not in your first post.  I have lost two layered high res images in the last couple of months due to getting mixed up after exporting to PDF for print.  I still don't know how it happened, but I have to assume user error.
I also note you are using CS6 which has the JDI features, so saving as a JPG would not have flaterened the layers.  I almost never use TIFF as it feels better to use PSD as it is the native format, and it limits the opertunity to mess up.  So I am not being very helpful.  If you absolutely didn't save out as JPG or PFD or similar, then you have to start thinking bug, but I have never heard of this happening outside of user error.
[EDIT]  Whoops.  Overlap.  I called for my breakfast half way through typing my answer.  Glad you got it fixed

  • Numbers pops up exporting before export file choosen

There is a bug with numbers I hoped apple would have fixed a long time ago... When you export something using the share export dialog and are in the location to choose a place to save the exported file. If you were to tab out of the app, it will popup a dialog saying exporting when it is not exporting... The only way to get out of it is if you forcequit Numbers and launch it again... Thankefully because this is lion, it saves the last changes and I just have to go back to export and not tab out of Numbers.

I'm not able to duplicate this.  Here is what I tried.
Opened Numbers, which created a default blank document
    File/Export
Chose Excel then clicked on Next.  The "Save As" window popped up.
Then I tried each of the following
Command-Tabbed to another application then Command-Tabbed back
Command-Tabbed to another application then clicked on the Numbers Icon in the dock to get back
Clicked on an open window of another application then clicked on the Numbers icon to get back
Clicked on an open window of anotehr application then clicked on a Numbers window to get back
In none of those cases did it pop up a dialog box saying "exporting", it always went back to the same place I left off.  I assume you meant "command-tab out of the app"; tab moves between fields of the "Save As" window (as it should do)
Could this be a problem related to a third-party utility?

  • Exported Files(pictures) not Added to Library

    Hello,
I installed Lightroom 4.4 recently.  I have been using 2.x for years.
I exported a number of jpg files into a JPG subfolder.  These jpgs were generated from cr2 files.  The "add to catalog" option was selected.  My problem is that not only the exported files/pictures were not added to the catalog but that I cannot add them manually (by syncing the upper-level folder).
I used to do it like this for years and it worked.
    Any comments, ideas?
    Thank you!

    Hello,
Have you found where the files are being exported to?
Are they in the correct place? (IE. where ou expected)
Are you certain the first option of the export dialog was Export to: Same folder as original - and not - Specific Folder before electing a Subfolder of JPG?
Yes to all of the above.  The new (exported) files are where I want them to be, i.e., in the same subfolder as the CR2 files.  The CR2 files are in one sub-folder named CR2 and the JPG files are in the JPG subfolder named JPG of the same containing folder.  I can see/browse/display the exported files in explorer.  The export worked as expected and placed the newly generated jpg files in the right place.  The only thing that did not work as I would expect it to was that the newly generated files (and folder) were not added to the library.  If I remember well this is how my Lightroom 2 was behaving as well.  This is not a big deal, or WAS not a big deal as in LT2 I would then synchronize the folder and bring all the exported files into the library.
My current problem is that syncing does not work as it used to; it does not list the JPG folder(s) (or any of the exported jpg files in these folders) as part of what to sync.  The folders are physically there but they are not selectable or visible as part of the sync, as if they were already in the library (they are not) or as if they were deliberatly ommitted for some reason...
Do you have any filters active in Lightroom that would hide the jpgs?
I did not turn on any filters on.  Where are the filters so that I could check if something is not on by default?
    Thanks!

  • Exported file sounds different inside Audition CS6 - audio channel mapping problem?

Hi guys. I've been working on some voice reels today, and for some reason my finished and exported files sound different to how they sound in Audition - basically, the music tracks increase in volume whenever the voice actor isn't speaking. As mentioned, this isn't happening in the Multitrack session, just when playing back the exported track in a third-party app, and has only been happening today. I've tried messing around with the Audio Channel Mapping and Audio Hardware settings in the Preferences, without any joy. I'm suspecting something's got messed up on the sound card, but just wanted to check that I haven't missed something painfully obvious inside of Audition!
    Specs:
    Windows 7 Home Premium, SP1, 64-bit
AMD Phenom II X64 2.8 GHz, 8GB RAM
Adobe Creative Suite 6 Production Premium
    M-Audio Delta Audiophile 2496
    NVIDIA GeForce GTX650Ti 2GB

Can't answer that without quite a bit more information about the third-party apps, what exactly you're exporting, workflow, etc. It won't be a mapping issue though - that will only affect the output of Audition to a hardware device.
But if you are exporting a single file with everything on, and it plays okay in Windows Media Player, for instance, then whatever is happening isn't with Audition, but whatever you are putting it back into. It sounds as though some sort of auto-leveling system is at work - and Audition wouldn't do that unless set up very specifically to do so.

  • How to export file with original filename number suffix, but with more digits

Is there a way to keep the original filename number suffix, but change the formatting of the number, adding leading zeros for instance?
When I import photos from my camera I like to rename them, and give them sequential numbers, e.g. "2015-01 Hamburg 1.cr2", "2015-01 Hamburg 2.cr2", "2015-01 Hamburg 10.cr2", .. "2015-01 Hamburg 134.cr2", and so on.
Normally when I export photos I like to keep the file names exacly as I imported them (except the extension) e.g. 2015-01 Hamburg 1.jpg, "2015-01 Hamburg 2.jpg", .. "2015-01 Hamburg 10.jpg", .. "2015-01 Hamburg 134.jpg".
But sometimes I would like to export them with leading zeros, typically when adding photos to a web site or blog where there are sort mechanisms that only support simple sort algorithms based on file names, meaning the sort order of my photos with their original file names would become "2015-01 Hamburg 1.jpg, "2015-01 Hamburg 10.jpg", .. "2015-01 Hamburg 134.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 2.jpg".
    So I would like the file names to be "2015-01 Hamburg 001.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 002.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 010.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 134.jpg".
By keeping the original file number suffix I can easily go back to the original file whenever I need to, and the sort order would work even with simple sorting.
The export Filename Template Editor gives quite advanced support for numbering files when exporting, see attached screenshot. There's support for exporting files with custom file names, and adding sequence, total and image number with padding (up to 9999/####). But those add new numbers, they do not consider the original filename number suffix. If I use the "Image # (001)" for instance, my example above would export as "2015-01 Hamburg 001.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 002.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 003.jpg", "2015-01 Hamburg 004.jpg", if those were the four photos I wanted to export, making it hard for me to trace them back to the original photo.
I have found no way of adding such padding on the original file number.
Does anyone know if this is possible or have suggestions for a workaround?
It shouldn't be too hard for Adobe to support this I'd imagine.
export pattern rename files  file_number filename_template_editor

I do not know if you can do what you explained above, but there is a workaround to this (and a way to avoid having to do it in the future):
In the Library module, make sure your images are sorted by Capture Date (this will put them in the right order, even with suffixes like 1, 13, etc.)
Select all images, and then Rename them, using a Custom text followed by a Sequence number. The Custom text in this case should be the original name (such as, 2015-01 Hamburg, as in your example). Make sure the Sequence number is formatted with enough zeroes to include all the numbers in your images.
In the future, when you rename images during Import, make sure you select the Sequence number format that will include all the needed zeroes, so you don't have to go through this again.

  • Footnotes numbered consecutively across all files in a book

Using CS6, I've created a book with 24 chapters. In each chapter, the footnote numbering start with  1.
The author believes the footnotes should be numbered consecutively across all files in a book.
I don't see any option for InDesign to handle that unless I combine all the chapters into a single file. Am I right?
Any resources anyone can suggest which would give us a definitive answer on how footnotes should be numbered?
    Thanks,
    David

I have only done a few jobs that used footnotes. One of them was my undergrad thesis, which I did as one document, so all of the footnotes were numbered consecutively. If I had to make an uninformed bet, I'd guess that chapters shouldn't restart at 1, but that's only a guess. Also consider that there are several sets of rules that people can use (Chicago Manual of Style, APA, MLA, Turabian), so the "correct" answer might be conditional.
    D Stark wrote:
I don't see any option for InDesign to handle that unless I combine all the chapters into a single file. Am I right?
There is the option to (for example) restart the numbering of chapter 2 with footnote number 8, if the last footnote of chapter 1 was 7. That will require you to always check each document of the book before you output it to be sure your restarts have the correct number, in case you added a footnote to a chapter that will cause the next chapter to need a new start number. You can restart footnote numbers in Type>Document Footnote Options>Numbering and Formatting.
There may be a plug-in that offers better footnote options, but I don't think InDesign's native footnote feature will allow footnote numbering to span book chapters, but I'm using  CS5, so maybe newer versions can do a better job.
I recommend you check back here to see if anyone has given a more definitive answer before you take my word for it.

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I cannot open my File Maker Pro files. Can I use Numbers to open these files?

Numbers is a spreadsheet program and FileMaker is a database program, so you probably can't use Numbers to open them unless you had first exported them from FileMaker in a spreadsheet-compatible format.
If you upgraded from 10.6 Snow Leopard or earlier and your old copy of FileMaker won't open anymore, it might be a PowerPC application that is not compatible with 10.7 and later. If that is the case, to work with your FileMaker files you should upgrade your copy of FileMaker to the latest version, which seems to be FileMaker 12.
