Numbers/Contacts/Messages deleted, so why do they still appear?

Dear all,
Like many of you I add and delete contacts on my iPhone.
However, when in Messages and I type a name in the Search box, sometimes numbers and contacts appear. Some of those include names and numbers I have since deleted - my mother's old number still appears even though its not saved AND I have deleted messages from her old number too.
Is there any way for this not to happen? It is proving a little baffling to me!

The sort of information you refer to is stored in cache memory of about 2Mb on hte phone and is eventually overwritten with use. The only way to get rid of it is to restore the phone as new and not from a backup and you loose dat aand settings. I suggest you ignore it and with use the information will disappear

As with the Mail app on a Mac, the iPhone's Mail app stores all email recipients in a list of previous recipients which is separate from the address book or contacts. The email address autofill feature when addressing an message pulls from Contacts and from the list of previous recipients.
Different from the Mail app on a Mac, there is no access to the list of previous recipients with iOS on an iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to remove a previous recipient from the list, or to add a previous recipient to the address book or contacts that is not already entered - not at the present time anyway.
The only way to purge the list of previous recipients at the present time is by restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup, which will start being re-populated again with every sent message.

If you are using Apple's Mail app 6.5 is the latest version irrespective of what a previous poster says. It does sound though that you are using a gmail account online via a web browser. Please confirm and fill in missing information.

If iChat was put inside a subsidiary folder of the Applications one then it will not get removed.
Apple App need to be loose in the Applications Folder or they will not update properly either.
I have heard of people creating a "Messaging App Folder" and keeping this inside the Applications folder with the consequences listed.

I deleted some videos from camera roll but they still appear in the videos folder

I removed some videos from my 4s to my computer but they still appear in a file called videos on my phone. The file Videos doesn't show up on my computer when I plug my phone in to the USB. How can I see this file on my computer when my phone is plugged in?

The "Photos section" within the Photos app is just a view of your Photo Stream, organized by dates and locations. You can see the exact same content by looking at "My Photo Stream" within the Albums section of the Photos app.
So, deleting things from Camera Roll will have no effect on Photo Stream nor the "Photos" section of the app, except for pictures in Camera Roll which may not have been uploaded to Photo Stream yet.

If you delete email on your desktop using iCloud, they will be automatically deleted on the iPhone and iPad.

Of course. "All my Files" look in all your folders for documents, pictures... and it shows all of them there even if you have them in Documents folder. Don't worry about it

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

Hi. I'm trying to make my guest network disappear from the list of network choices that appears to everyone in the neighborhood. Thank you for not only the tip but also especially the research showing that for anybody other that those using Wi-Fi for the first time the network wouldn't disappear. I wanted it to disappear for everyone so.....I finally solved it by resetting the Airport Extreme to the factory settings and starting over from scratch! It worked! Yay!!!!!
So, for everyone that has had this problem (and I've read many of the same complaints in different places on the Internet), you must go into Airport Utility and check the box stating that you want to reset it to the factory settings. Do not do it with a paper clip and the reset button on the box; I tried that first and it did not work. You must reset it via the Airport Utility. Then just start over and you will have the choice to NOT check the box to Enable Guests. If you want to enable guests, just be sure not to use your name or you're back to the same problem. Apple is so great with everything...wouldn't it have been so easy for them to just put this in the manual somewhere????? Thanks for all your help. Hope this helps others!

Try force-closing the Reminders app and reset your phone: double-tap the home button, locate Reminders, swipe up on the image above the app icon to close it, tap the home button again. Then hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release and wait for it to restart. Then check your reminders again.

In both SAFE and Regular browser windows, the UNINSTALL button is grayed out.
I have tried in SAFE MODE, as well as the Help>troubleshooting Information>Application Basics>Profile Directory>Open Containing Folder,,,(looked, nothing there),,,,in both SAFE and Regular browser windows.

You can uninstall (remove) the Java Console extensions, you do not need them to run Java applets.

Still having to accept messages...why cant they just go thru

What message are you referring to? Just the chat message or a iSight video chat?
If it is just the Instant message, unfortuantly there is no way to change this. If your looking to automatically accept video chats, there are some options for you.

I got my ipad stolen and I locked it and bought a new one. When I am offline and someone tries to call me or message me it goes to my stolen ipad how can this be if it has been locked? Why do they still have access to my contacts/facetime/messages?

I got my Ipad stolen one month ago and bought a new. I locked the stolen one but now everytime someone calls me and my new ipad is offline the calls or messages will go to the stolen one. It is kind of creepy to know that my thiefs can read everything and send messages on my behalf to my contacts.....I have done the find my iphone application and it says that the ipad has not been used however I have family tell me that people that are not me answer the calls... I have also seen messages in my new ipad that I did not write.

That message is usually due to a bad cable.
