Are changes I make to iWork documents on my iOS device automatically made available on my other mobile devices and computer?
Once you set-up iCloud on your mobile devices, the changes you make to iWork documents on one device are automatically made available on your other mobile devices. For the changes to appear on your computer, you must manually download the updated document(s) from icloud.com/iwork. The reverse is also true: for changes made to iWork documents on your computer to appear on your iOS device, you must upload the updated document(s) toicloud.com/iwork using your computer’s web browser.
Are you using this scheme ?
I guess that the answer is : NO

  • Can I use Safari to edit Numbers doc on iCloud?

Before getting Numbers, I need to know more about how it works with iCloud. I see that iCloud has a section called "iWork" with a tab for Numbers. I assume that if I have created a Numbers document and saved it in iCloud, I will see it on the page shown by clicking on that Numbers tab. I also know that I will be able to edit the document from an iMac, iPhone, and iPad. My question is, essentially, HOW can I edit a Numbers doc in iCloud? More specifically, can I open the Numbers doc and edit it directly in Safari while navigating iCloud, like a note in Notes, or must I always use the Numbers program/app to edit a Numbers doc saved on iCloud?
Of course, I will need to buy Numbers to create a Numbers document in the first place, but can I then edit it in Safari by opening the doc in Safari on the iCloud web site?
If I must always use the Numbers program/app to edit a document, then what, if any, functionality does iCloud provide for Numbers docs beyond that provided by DropBox?
    Same question for Pages.

    Louie,
iCloud is, in theory, better integrated. That assumes all the latest software on all platforms, OS and Numbers.
Dropbox seems to me to be more stable than iCloud, but that's just my impression.
iCloud is just the messenger that moves the documents between machines. Safari can not be used to edit an iWork document. Connecting to iCloud with your browser a;;pws you to view and manage the files stored there, but doesn't give you content editing tools.

  • How do I keep a numbers doc in iCloud as well as on my desktop?

I created a numbers doc on my macbook air and then decided to save it on icloud. But now I have lost it from my documents. Is there any way of keeping a copy of it on my computer such that when I make any changes, it will also update the copy which is on icloud?

Files stored in iCloud are stored locally as well as on some remote Apple server - just not on the desktop. You cannot keep the file on the desktop but you should be able to locate it in your Mobile Documents folder, make an alias, and put the alias on your desktop.
The Mobile Documents folder is in your Library folder (hold option while selecting the Go menu in the Finder) and your Numbers documents are located in com~apple~Numbers

What browser are you using on you Mac?  I found that on my Mac, I got a very similar error when I was using FireFox, but it worked just fine when I used Safari.  I suspect that one of my FireFox add-ins was causing the problem, but it's hard to tell.

  • Pages/Numbers docs on iCloud but not on iOS devices?

    Hello,
I had been using Pages and Numbers for some time and when iCloud came out I synced all my existing documents from both. Currently, they reside normally in iCloud (since I can access them from iCloud.com) but they are no longer on either my iPhone or iPad. I cannot figure out how to get them back either.
My workaround so far has been to download them onto my Macbook from iCloud.com and then put them into iTunes...But everytime I do this the setting for using iCloud (Settings - Apps - Numbers/Pages) changes from Yes to No automatically.
I'm kind of stuck at this point. I've even tried redownloading Pages to see if I would get prompted to pull stuff from iCloud back onto the iOS device.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Same issue here.
    My workaround:
    Email the documents/spreadsheets to myself
Open email on the other device.
    Click the attachment.
Select "Open with Numbers (or Pages)".
I would prefer that they sync automagically.

  • Do numbers docs updated on Mac update on iOS devices?

Updated a Numbers workbook on my iMac. It's stored in iCloud. The update is not showing up on the same workbook on either my iPhone or iPad. What am I missing?

Here is some information on docs and iCloud:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2704
Docs changed/edited on your Mac will not automatically update - you need to do it manually by dragging it to iCloud.com.

  • What does 'waiting' mean on a doc in iCloud?

I use iCloud to store my Numbers documents.
I have used only .22 GB of space so far.
I have a several Numbers doc in the cloud of my MacBook Pro.
The most recent doc has the word "waiting" underneath it.
The doc opens OK on my MacBook; I don't see it in the other
    Numbers docs on my Mac-mini.
    What gives?
    Thanks in advance for advice.

Can't help re the AA stuff but my understanding of "grey market" is based on something I learned at a seminar (I think re electronic gear) many years ago
Manufacturers sell world wide, but the legal requirements re warranty differ in different countries.
Sale price IN the country of INTENDED sale include a percentage of estimated price to cover warranty costs.
That money  is for the regional (country of sale's) bank account.
The manufacturer DOESN'T cover the cost of goods bought in a different country than where they were sent for repair because the warranty is ONLY valid in the market area where the built in margin was "banked"
In other words grey market has no manufacturers warranty, HOWEVER places like B & H  sell sell grey market items BUT offer an in house warranty (sometimes) but that doesn't mean grey market items have ANY warranty from  the manufacturer.
SO if buying something being sold as grey market make sure it comes with some kind of warranty (in writing) that covers you're butt $ wise should it fail. Living in Canada would mean that buying something in the US that has no warranty here is an inconvenience (for me) because I'm close to the border but that still adds costs to the "return for repair" bill & major inconvenience when they want to return it to me because they won't just ship it to my house. .

  • HT4910 Can I backup my Powerpoint and Word docs on iCloud

I want to be able to access my Powerpoint docs via iCloud, is it possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Yes you can do that.
You can add word, excel and PowerPoint documents to iCloud via the appropriate iWork application (ie, pages for word, numbers for excel etc) when you do this, they can be opened by iWork apps on mobile device or by iWork or MS Office on a computer.
In addition to this, you can add most types of documents to iCloud through text edit and preview.

  • Some numbers docs not opening but requesting app update

As the picture shows, and the title suggests, when trying to open some docs in numbers I recieve a request to update the app.  No update is available.
This is on both my iPhone 4s and iPad 3.  Both are running up to date software.  It also happens in pages too.
I have iCloud work installed on my Win 7 laptop, and only noticed this since iCloud work was released just after ios8 was.
I have reinstalled pages as well.  Any ideas what I can do here?
    Thanks!

Really surprised there was no response from the community on that one, but not a big deal.  I just had to reset passwords all over the place.
But now I've got some other weirdness, possibly iCloud related.  I did a repair permissions and Pages was able to open docs from iCloud.  But now it's happening again.  I can't open from iCloud and I tried downloading from iCloud through  a browser but Pages still won't open the docs.  I decided to try signing out of iCloud and that just sucked up all processes, system ground to a halt while signing out was supposedly going on.  I had to force quit everythig else and still it didnt complete signing out.  I was able to restart
But now i have to reauthenticate with iCloud and its another 15 minutes gettig everything back in sync.  This is miserable.  I was able to open a Pages doc finally.   :(

  • Cannot open docs in iCloud after update version 3.2

    Hello folks,
today in the morning I take the suggested update for the iWork Suite on my MacBook Pro and my iPad mini. I use all the applications on both, so Numbers, Pages, Keynote. After the update my Mac programs show to me an error trying to open docs in iCloud. It says "doc xyz cannot be opened". If I move them to my local disk, everything is all right then. This is the same with Numbers, Pages and Keynote. If I move them back to iCloud, the problem appears once again. I didn't changed anything in settings on Mac and on my iPad mini, but the problem occurs just on my Mac. I have the latest updates of OS on both.
Thank you for every suggestion! Perhaps there are more like me out there?!
    Michael

  • Saving an updated numbers spreadsheet to icloud

    Hi Everybody!
I'm trying to learn how to use the icloud and numbers to seamlessly move between i-devices.
I use Numbers a lot on my ipad, and have installed it on my desktop as well.
I would like it if I could create a spreadsheet on my ipad and then update it on my laptop--and then save that updated version back to numbers in the icloud so that I can work on that same spreadsheet again on my ipad--just like on the commericials!!
How do I do that???  I cannot seem to find what is "home base" and keep ending up with various versions of the same document in different, confusing places.
How do i save that updated spreadsheet on my laptop back to the icloud????  There must be a simple solution for this that I'm just not seeing...
    Thanks!!!

What a mess it all is too! We have Numbers only to find you can't save spreadsheets to iCloud.
So - unbelievably for having paid a fortune for i-Pads we send them via e-mail (in Excel form nobody else but Apple understands Numbers) to our computers (also Macs but that may change if this stupidity is going to continue with Apple)
On arrival - Save to where ever - THEN we open Google Docs (who understand how to make these things simple) - drag and drop into browser of Google Docs - it is there in seconds and you can work on it in a browser both from ANY computer and the iPad (but it makes it less enjoyable because unlike Googledocs, the iPad insists YOU must click 'submit' for each line or entry you put in or edit.
    Hope that helps you.
Just to say, it is beyond belief that the iPad won't just connect to the ether and work simply  through a browser like Google Docs does. Believe there are plans somewhere for a tablet with no apps just a connection to the ether ......

  • Numbers doc on my iPhone does not update on my iPad and vice versa.  Why?

I have the same Numbers doc on my iPhone and my iPad.  iCloud backup is turned "on" for both devices.  Whenever I update the document on one device, it does not update on the other device.  Is there something else that I need to do to make automatic updates happen?  Many thanks, Mark

This solved the problem.  "Use iCloud" was turned on in one device but not in the other.   Many, many, thanks!!!
