Numbers for iCloud kerning is way too tight?

I'm trying to use Numbers for iCloud and it's working but the kerning all the text is MAJOR tight. Letters are overlapping each other.
This is the default first time ever opening the app appearance and I can't imagine it's supposed to look like that.
Any ideas on what's wrong? Using Safari 8.0.2 with OS 10.10.1

I still dont understand how to solve this case
On your Mac, open Numbers, the do File > Open and choose icloud and see if you can find the missing document there.

  • How do I add a comment to a cell in Numbers for iCloud beta like I can in Numbers for ios???

I can't be the only person to find it incredibly frustrating that it seems impossible to add a comment to a cell in beta. I use this function a lot on my ipad - is it really not available in beta?? And if not, why not??

    Hey lolitajoon,
Thanks for the question. You are correct, comments are hidden from all iWork apps when imported to iWork for iCloud beta. Please note that the current release of Numbers for iCloud is a beta version. Therefore, certain features aren’t yet supported.

  • Set defaults on a Numbers for iCloud beta spreadsheet?

    Hi Everyone,
How can I set page defaults on a Numbers for iCloud beta spreadsheet?  I want to have the size set to 100% and the  Format panel hidden.  At present I have to re-set these values everytime I re-open the file.  I have loooked in help but can't see any relevant info.  I'm running Mavericks.
    Thanks, Dave. D.

Further to my post on April 23, I have noticed that when I save a numbers file on my Mac, all the changes I have made to things like the size, whether the format panel is visible, even the window extents etc. are all saved with the file.  Of course this is what you would expect but in the iCloud Beta version there is no Save command so I assume that is why these things are not saved.  Does anyone know if this is correct or if there is a work around?
    Thanks,
    Dave. D.

  • When I try to share a Numbers spreadsheet with other Mac users, (via iMessages) it doesn't open on Numbers app but instead on Numbers for iCloud beta, on their browser.

When I try to share a Numbers spreadsheet with other Mac users, (via iMessages) it doesn't open on Numbers app but instead on Numbers for iCloud beta, on their browser. and worse all the letters appear out of format and unreadable.
Is there any option that i'm getting wrong
    How can we solve this.
Usualy we use Google drive documents to share some spreadsheets, but we wanted to share the same document with numbers (that's much better) but it doesn't work as easily as in google drive and doesn't even remotely works how it was supposed.

When I try to share a Numbers spreadsheet with other Mac users, (via iMessages) it doesn't open on Numbers app but instead on Numbers for iCloud beta, on their browser. and worse all the letters appear out of format and unreadable.
Don't know why those letters wouldn't display properly; maybe something to do with their settings at Safari > Preferences > Advanced > Default Encoding or similar setting in whatever browser they are using. But it's really easy for them to download the document via the "wrench" in the Numbers for iCloud menu. Then they can open it in the Numbers app.
For "real-time" collaboration, I think you all need to be accessing Numbers for iCloud via the browser.

  • My macbook was bought in June 2006 and I have snow leopard but don't think I can upgrade any further.  Am I right in assuming that I also can't register my macbook for icloud as it is too old?

Am I correct in assuming I can't upgrade a macbook bought in June 2006 to Mountain Lion?  And if this is the case does it mean my macbook is too old to register for icloud?  I have my iphone backed up to icloud but am having trouble then plugging it into my macbook and syncing the calendars.  I need to keep my phone syncing with icloud so that my husband can access my calendar on his iphone but would like it to also sync with the calendar on my macbook.  Make sense?  Sorry if it seems confusing.  Imagine me..lol

Correct. You would need to install 10.7.2 or later to use iCloud. See the following:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You must purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s MobileMe service; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
             7. Xserve (Early 2009)
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.

  • RMBP hinge became way too tight

My Retina macbook pro 13" (late 2013) was somehow damaged, I believe, because the hinge became too tight. It made cracking noise if I let the screen keep position for even a few seconds and then moved it. Out of stupidity, I sprayed some WD-40 into the slots between plastic clutch and aluminium so that it would reach the hinge. But this made the situation much worse! Now I can't open my Macbook with 1 hand, and the effort required is so big I'm afraid to bend the screen eventually.
    What do I do?

Bad move.  You may have permanently damaged it, and it is not likely to be covered by AppleCare.  Should have just taken it into service without putting WD40 on it.  Also if it has too much give, you could in theory end up fraying the cables going through it.   I've heard of way too many people ending up with damaged inverter cables and solid lines crisscrossing the screen.

  • "Full Screen Mode" in Adobe Reader XI for Windows 8 loads way too slow!

I recently got a new laptop with Windows 8, after having used Windows Vista for years.  I installed Adobe Reader XI for my new computer.  Before, I used Adobe Reader X on Vista.  I used Adobe Reader "Full Screen Mode" to read the nice-looking Bible chapters I created with internet audio from Biblegateway.com.  In Vista, the "Full Screen Mode" appeared quickly, before the audio fully started, so I could see the text in time for the reading.
However, with Windows 8, "Full Screen Mode" takes around 5-10 seconds to appear at all, and a black screen is present throughout the wait.  It does the same thing when I hit "escape" to exit "Full Screen Mode" as well.  I even uninstalled Adobe Reader XI from my new laptop, and tried using Adobe Reader X, even though it is not recommened by Adobe to do that on Windows 8, in order to test the speed of "Full Screen Mode" there.  Adobe Reader X had the same problem!  I do not know if this can be fixed, but I am pretty unhappy about it!  I enjoyed the "Full Screen Mode" with my PDF chapters and the online bible audio!  Finding that function for the first time with Adobe Reader X was a delight for me!  It gave the reading a theater feel!
Has anyone else here had a similiar problem with "Full Screen Mode" loading way too slow on Windows 8?  I am very disappointed!  If this cannot be fixed by a user, is there a place to complain to Adobe and make a recommendation for software improvement?  Thank you!

  • 'Sorry Numbers for iCloud isn't responding' is the message I'm getting when trying to open a spreadsheet.

I rang Apple support who told me that the file has corrupted and there's no way of getting it back. Has anyone else experienced this? Please let this be a warning to others that are using Numbers beta on iCloud, your files are not safe from corruption. Back them up somewhere else. I hadn't backed this up anywhere due to the fact that I'd need to update my operating sytem and then purchase the newest version of Numbers to be able to open the online version of my speadsheet from my hard drive. I've lost days of work. If anyone has any suggestions of retrieving the data - I can open on my ipad but certain sheets which I need to open to edit make the app crash. I'm a bit fed up with it!

Thank you for responding. Yes, it had a 3/4 charge when this occured. The i-pod itself seems to be working fine as far as playing music, it just isn't getting recgonized by the computers I'm plugging in to. Since my last message, I tried plugging the i-pod into my other computer and I got the same message "USB device not recgonized...", so it must be the i-pod and not my computers.

  • How to email a link to a spreadsheet in Numbers for iCloud

I have been trying to figure out how to send a link to a Numbers document in iCloud.  The option on the Action menu is always grayed out.... [want to share the document with someone who uses Numbers but obviously does not log in with my Apple ID)...

I guess I must have missed that phase.  I think I was testing it well before it went public and never had the link option operational.
I was mainly interested in the foreign language capability and was dismayed to find they had totally botched support for all arabic and indic text (about 1 billion people), which may indicate a certain lack of talent or seriousness devoted to the project....

  • How do I sort part of a column in Numbers for iCloud?

With several sets of data in a single sheet I need to sort a subset of a column and can't see how I do that.  It's clear how to sort the entire column but not (at least to me) just a subset of it.  Anyone have a suggestion?

    Hi David,
May I suggest the following workaround for you?
    Select the subset you want to sort;
    Cut the data to the clipboard (Ctrl + X in Windows, Command + X in Mac);
    Create a new table on the same sheet and paste the data (Ctrl + V in Windows, Command + V in Mac);
    Sort the data in the (new) table;
Select the data and copy it back to the empty spaces in your first table.

  • How do I re-size pictures taken with iP4 for email, they are WAY too big

They look great in iPhoto, nice and clear, especially the macro shots. However when I email a picture to a client the pictures literally fill up my entire 15" MBP screen and are so large they are fuzzy.
    Thanks a ton

I emailed the picture using my webmail hosted by iPage (non Apple host). But if I understand you correctly I can re-size the photo in iPhoto for future emails NOT using the iPhone OR if I want to send an email using the iPhone I can select a size option after?? selecting send? If after, hasn't the photo been sent already before re-sizing?
    Thanks for your help

  • What are solutions for a way-too-big database?

    Hi guys!
I'm a software developer and not very good in database designing. One day, I was asked something like this :
"For example, there is a company with a web application. One day, the database for that application is way too big, caused performance issues and others, what is the solution for that application database?"
At first, I thought that was about using multiple database with single app. But I don't know if I was right.
I want to ask that what are the solutions? If it's "multiple database" then what should I do? Using two connection to 2 database simutaneously?
    I appreciate any replies. Thanks!

Thanks Lubiez Jean-Val... for your links.
I've got some more advices like :
    - "transferring workload to another database using different techniques to copy the data from original db"
    - "redesign of the database"
So that means we use 2 different databases?Sometimes it is deemed desirable to keep only fairly recent data on the OLTP database, where the normal transaction activity happens, and replicate the data to another database that also contains historical data. This second database is used for heavy reporting tasks.
And "redesign"?As in, design it from scratch and do it right this time. Make sure all data relations are properly defined to Third Normal Form; make sure all data is typed properly (use DATE columns for dates, NUMBER columns for numbers, etc); make sure you have designed effective indexing; make sure you use the capabilities of the rdbms and do NOT just use it as a data dump.
    See http://www.amazon.com/Effective-Oracle-Design-Osborne-ORACLE/dp/0072230657/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1301257486&sr=1-3
are they really good solutions?Like most everything else, "It depends"
It depends on if the proposed solutions are implemented properly and address the root problem. The root problem (or even perceived problem) hasn't yet been defined. You've just assumed that at some undefined point the database becomes "way-too-big" and will cause some sort of problem.
It's assumed that we don't have or can't use partitioning.
And why is that assumed? Yes, you have to have a version of Oracle that supports it, and it is an extra cost license. But like everything else, you and your management have to do a hard-nosed cost/benefit analysis. You may think you can't afford the cost of implementing partitioning, but it may be that you can't afford the expenses derived from NOT implementing it. I don't know what the case is for you, but you and your management should consider the factors instead of just rejecting in out of hand.

  • Pages for iCloud beta did not save my changes

    Hello,
I'm trying to figure out how to save changes when editing documents in pages for iCloud beta as today I've lost all of the amendments I made to my coursework. I logged in to iCloud using windows PC and IE 10 at work in my lunch break to do some of my coursework. After the best part of an hour I stopped working and logged off of iCloud. Now I've signed in to my ipad and the document is saying it was last updated yesterday so, thinking its a sync problem with my iPad I have logged in to iCloud on my laptop and can see that it's not a sync problem with the iPad and that nothing I did today has saved. Does anyone have any idea where I've gone wrong and how I can ensure I don't lose any work in the future?
    Thanks
    Emma

I have been wondering about this absence of a "save" button, too. I tested it just a while ago, editing a Numbers spreadsheet in iCloud beta, and adding a large image that I knew could not immediately be saved. I then chose [name]/Logout, and Numbers for iCloud beta warned that he document had not yet finished saving. So if you wait for the save to finish (although I saw no notification that it did, eventually the file was saved), you should have no problem. Hope it works for you.

  • Request: iPad "mode" inside Numbers for Mac

It sure would be nice if there were a toggle in Numbers for Mac that would disable any features, functions, formats, etc that were incompatible with the Numbers for iPad. That way I could create a spreadsheet that I already know is going to iPad without finding out later that I did something the iPad version can't do.

Great idea, Benthic, but apple isn't reading here (except to make sure things conform to the TOU).
