Numbers in iPad 1

Hello,
I'm using my iPad now for years and loving it :-)
At the moment I have the following problem...
Since yesterday, if I want to open some sheets with Numbers, I get the message " you can't open this sheets with your version of numbers, you need to update"
But I can't update my System because of iPad 1.
I save my sheets on the cloud and open it also sometimes with my iPhone 4, iOS 7.
Since yesterday it works perfectly.
What can I do? Any idea?
Tanks and kind regards
Frank

ME too, I assume Apple treat the original iPad users as second class citizens it looks like you need to be running iOS 7 now.  Apple forget that we paid for these products that are now free on the new iPads.
No respect for us and very unreasonable and discourteous to simply withdraw a product without notice especially as we paid £6.99 for it
I am not going to buy another IPad and I have a mac pro and 4s too I will seriously consider moving to android tabs / phones in future
Poor  show Apple!

  • How can I insert an image into a cell in Numbers for iPad?

    Hi,
is there any way to insert an image inside a cell using Numbers for iPad? I tried doing it on desktop version and it works, then I shared it through iwork.com and downloaded into my iPad and it's showing fine on the iPad ( although there's no way to edit or change the image inside the cell ) but when I try to do the same task on iPad itself, the image always comes floating even if I place the cursor inside a cell before inserting.
any idea how to do it or if it's even possible?
    thanks.
    John

Images can be added to cells only as "image fill." Cell fill is an attribute of the cell, not content of the cell. Only cell content can be retrieved by a formula or by copying the content of the cell.
Copying the cell will also copy its format, including the image fill, but I've found no way to extract the image from the cell.
    Regards,
    Barry

  • How do I add multiple rows in Numbers for iPad?

how do I add multiple rows in Numbers for iPad?

    Hi James,
On the iPod I can only insert what is on the clipboard but I can insert however many rows I have there. Is it working differently for you? Benjoon seemed to think that he could not do this in Numbers. He was ruling Numbers out because of it. He doesn't need to do that because of this issue.
If I was needing to insert multiple blank rows often I might keep a table of blank rows or just some blank rows at the end of the working table that I could copy/paste. This is no different than Numbers on the Mac.

  • HT5824 I've been using numbers for iPad and I accidentally deleted a column. And the auto-save feature saved that and now I can't undo it. Does iCloud storage have backups of saved files from like 10 minutes ago? I have number

I've been using numbers for iPad and I accidentally deleted a column. And the auto-save feature saved that and now I can't undo it. Does iCloud storage have backups of saved files from like 10 minutes ago? I have numbers synced to iCloud.
I tried to undo it but the app crashed.
I am hoping there's like a previously saved version of my file in iCloud somewhere.

No, iOS does not do short term incremental back ups to iCloud such as you get with Time Capsule. It backs up when you do soo manually, or if set properly, when the device is plugged in and connected to WiFi. It will not have saved your changes as of 10 minutes prior.

  • Adding trendline in Numbers for iPad

Can I add trendlines for my charts in Numbers for iPad?

Don't type the two letters "nu" but the three "ios" ones.
You will get two entries :
    iMovie for iOS
    and
iWork for iOS (which is ridiculous because this product doesn't exist).
Clicking on this late entry you will enter a community grouping questions upon the three apps.
Click the button "Refine this list" to restrict to Numbers.
I already asked the forum staff to change this odd behavior so that
typing nu offer Numbers 4 iOS
as well as Numbers 4 mac OS
And of course, same request for Keynote and Pages.
    Wait and see.

  • Setting page size in Numbers on Ipad?

Anyone know if you can set page size in Numbers on Ipad?

I don't see a setting for page size.  Everything else related to that (sans setting the page size) appears to be found here:
    Click the wrench
    Share & Print
    Print
Select portrait/landscape, content size, page numbering, headers
    Done (don't actually print it)
I wonder if you set the page size when you actually go to print it.  I don't have a printer to try it on. Otherwise it looks like 8.5x11 is all you get.

  • Limitations of number of populated cells in Numbers for iPad?

Does anyone know what the maximum parameters are for Numbers on iPad? I have searched for a knowledge base article on this but cannot find one. I am trying to bring in a excel sheet I converted to Numbers on my MacBook Pro and then brought it into Numbers on my iPad. It crashes midway through opening it on the iPad and I think its because of the file size and number of sheets. Before I redesign the spreadsheet to be smaller, I would like to know what the maximum size should be (rows, columns, sheets etc).

I too can't open a Numbers '09 file on the iPad. Its around 600KB with 7 sheets. Sometimes similar sized files open, sometimes not.
Is it crashing or is it giving wrong results ?
I understood that with the late changes it opened but some formulas give odd results.
I sent the test file to some one which is often on this forum.
Just hope that he will respond.

  • There is no filter function in numbers for ipad, its very discouraging,as a ipad fan, even nokia lumia providing filter in there low cost mobile

there is no filter function in numbers for ipad, its very discouraging,as a ipad fan, even nokia lumia providing filter function in excel in there low cost mobile.
APPLE KINDLY PROVIDE THIS FEATURE AS UPDATE SOON,COZ I WORK ON EXCEL N NUMBERS IN MY IPAD IS DEAD WITH OUT FILTER FUNCTION,I CAN NOT TRAVEL WITH MY IPAD DUE TO THIS REASON,AS I HAVE TO BE IN FIELD WITH SALES FORCE SO I BOUGHT IPAD.

Probably you know that the new version of Numbers for iOS uses the filters created in the Numbers for Mac version.
It's not the best solution but it helps (of course, if you have a Mac!)

  • Sort a row in Numbers for iPad

I have a list of names along the header row of a table in Numbers for iPad. I'd like to put them in alphabetical order from left to right. Bearing in mind that I'm a newby to apple, could anyone help? (If I were using MS excel I'd use sort data and set it row)
I have considered transposing the row to a column and I can sort a column, but the transpose command is proving tricky (Again if I were using MS Excel I would use paste special transpose.)

Generally, you are more likely to get an answer if you post in the iWork for iOS forum at

  • Default cell format in Numbers for iPad

Is there a way to assure that when I insert a row in Numbers for iPad, that I get the text keyboard (and not the numbers keyboard) when I double-tap the cell to edit it?

As long as the row is formatted as text you will get the text keyboard and not the number, date or formula keyboard. Generally what happens when you insert a row it copies the format of the cell above.
I have only had trouble occasionally when using a form and the cell is not formatted the way I need it to be. Usually when that has happened I have been inserting and deleting rows in an almost random fashion.
When I am in the sheet itself it is easy to tap the "T" to get the text input.

  • Hiding rows in Numbers for iPad - any update?

Several months ago, I asked the question 'how do I hide rows in Numbers for iPad' and the answer was that it's not possible,
    Has there been any change?
Also, is it possible yet to show the row/column grid numbers/letters?

  • Dates in numbers for iPad 2

I have see many complaints about Numbers for IPad not being able to handle dates very well, especially when in porting an Excel sheet. Is this a problem ?
I have many Excel sheets that require dates, will I be able to use them ?
    Thanks

Your friend was close, but forgot one thing. If you want it to be blank if either cell is MT, then you need an OR as well o test if either one or the other is blank...
    =IF(OR(ISBLANK(a1),ISBLANK(b1)),"",a1xb1)
The isblank can also be represetned by ="" in many cases, usually accompanied with a trim to make sure there are no spaces were entered...
    =IF(OR(TRIM(a1)="",TRIM(b1)="")),"",a1xb1)
