Numbers on bluetooth menu?

Hey,
I've been trying to connect my PS3 controller to my iMac running Yosemite. I still don't think it's connected properly, it doesn't show up on the Bluetooth preferences page, but it does at least  show up on the drop down menu, and works as long as the cord is attached. However there are now a lot of numbers on the drop down menu, all of them starting in 00-00-00-00. there are six lines at the moment, but more keep popping up. when I hover my mouse over them it gives me the option to connect (which doesn't seem to do anything) but I can't figure out how to get rid of them and stop them cluttering my bluetooth menu.
If any of you guys know what's going on, your help would be much appreciated!
Thanks

Try resetting the PRAM. In answer to your question, no.

Food for thought:  There is actually information released by the NTSB that even using "hands free" devices while driving have been proven to  distract drivers.
As for the Bluetooth commands: I've never used "speed dial" I usually say "Call Nicole Mobile" and it will connect still with no problems.
I just tried to use the voice command "call speed dial 1" and it did not recognize it.  It appears you must use the name now.

  • Windows 8.1: no Bluetooth menu in Device Manager

I just installed Windows 8.1 using BootCamp on my iMac (27-inch, Late 2012).
I downloaded afterwards the latest BootCamp support software (5.1.5) and installed the additionnal drivers, including the Broadcom ones. Bluetooth was working fine, my Apple Wireless Keyboard was responding and everything was a-okay.
I bought another keyboard -- a Microsoft Scultp Mobile one. It's also a Bluetooth device. So I go into Control Panel / Hardware and Sound / Add a device. Windows can't seem to detect any Bluetooth device as a try to add this new keyboard. I go into Setting / Change PC Settings to check out the Bluetooth menu and I found out it has suddenly disappear. I investigate further, check into Device Manager to see what's going on with the Bluetooth drivers only to find that there is no more Bluetooth menu available. It was there before between "Audio Input and Outputs" and "Computer", but now there's nothing.
I checked online but the only I found was for some people to remove their MotionInJoy drivers to make the menu reappear. I unfortunately never installed such a driver so it's not the source of my problem. I've used Windows Troubleshoothing to see if there was any drivers that I was missing but everything was okay on that front.
I can't bring back the Bluetooth option at all. I switched back to my MacOS X Mavericks session. The Bluetooth is working without problem there. But once I switch back to my Windows 8.1 session, there is still no Bluetooth options to be found anywhere. It makes no sense since it was there once I successfully installed this OS using BootCamp. How can a whole feature just disappear like that? I can't add anymore Bluetooth peripherals without this menu.
Somehow though, my Apple Wireless Keyboard, which is Bluetooth, can still work. Maybe through a separate driver from the BootCamp support software?
Is there a solution to this problem? Can I bring back the Bluetooth option in Device Manager? Has anyone encountered the same problem?

I recently had some BT issue's in Win8 so I wrote a topic about this subject. Maybe you need to replace the Broadcom drivers as well.

  • Bluetooth menu icon not showing up

I have always had the bluetooth status shown in menu bar turned on since I purchased my computer. Howeverm recently, the bluetooth icon does not show up after a restart, so i go to sys prefs>bluetooth, and it is ticked on. I have to uncheck and recheck the box and it will come back up. It will be fine until i restart again, and then the icon will be gone, and Ill have to redo the process. Anyone know how to fix this? thanks

    Try doing this, go to…
    /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras
… and then open the file "Bluetooth.menu".

  • How to remove bluetooth menu

I recently migrated from a Powerbook, with Bluetooth, to a Tower without. Now there is a non-functional Bluetooth menu in the Menu Bar and the Bluetooth tab of the Keyboard CP is hidden because the machine does not have Bluetooth. Is there any way to turn off the Bluetooth menu short of trashing Preference files? Would it be possible to simply edit the Preference file in Textedit. If so, which one? I am also willing to use the Terminal.
    OSX 10.4.6

    Hi, R C-R —
Interesting approach; sounds like it'd be cool — and work.
In re: "slightly annoying" — mho, fwiw:
AFAIK, circa 10.2.x, Apple "reserved MenuExtras" and decided to introduce a "block" preventing 3rd-party Menu Extras from loading — but folks kept developing them anyway using "hacks."  (e.g., unsanity's "haxies" using its APE.)
I haven't seen Apple's rationale fully documented, but this hypothesis seems reasonable to me:
      (a) Menu extras are different than, e.g., OS 9.x's menus that offer handy user options. For example, they include what I consider ~critical "status" and functional menus such as AirPort, Bluetooth, TextInput.menu, etc. whose presence (and some of whose "control" options) can be important user interface that shouldn't be interrupted.
      (b) As described in the "Configuring User Sessions" subsection of The Boot Process, these capabilities are essentially double-protected: "If the Finder, Dock, or SystemUIServer processes die for some reason, loginwindow automatically restarts them. In the same manner, if the loginwindow process dies, the launchd process automatically restarts it." Thus, a bit o' 3rd-party misbehavior can not only cause their menu to "crash," but bring 'em all — including Spotlight, and possibly Finder — crashing down, too.
      (c) Given (a) and (b), it would seem a bit foolhardy to "allow" 3rd-party developers to, perchance, sneak in some faulty code that may result in the process described in (b) to do an ~infinite loop of relaunching processes in an effort to keep key capabilities available.
I've certainly read of — and tried to help folks with — a lot of cases of such problems that were caused, imo, by this dynamic (no matter how vigorously unsanity, et.al. may deny it)!  'tis also a lot of trouble to keep up with when OS X upgrades (or troubleshooting whatever) force a user to disable the thang or find an updated version of the hack...
All for something that can ~easily be implemented via the Dock, as intended by Apple. Moving the cursor to the Dock's location to access a capability isn't really too much harder than to the menu bar, after all.  Longing to "make X like OS 9.x, etc." doesn't seem worth the trouble — even to people as creative and rambunctious as we rebellious Mac folk.
                    </soap box>
This is not, of course, a comment on your Script Menu.menu idea.

  • Bluetooth Menu is slow to open.

Hi, I've been having an issue with my bluetooth menu, it takes about ten seconds to drop down the menu. It is not a serious issue, but it does cause a little annoyance when you are in a hurry and when in contrast to how well the rest of the machine runs. Any help or questions would be gladly appreciated
    Thank you, Josh.

Maybe What version of iPhoto '11?  What are the symptoms?
Generally turning off sharing, item counts and all web services (like facebook syncing for example) resolves slow opening

  • IPhone not discoverable in bluetooth menu

    Hi
My iPhone is no longer discoverable when in the bluetooth menu. Underneath the list of devices, where it used to say "Now discoverable", it now instead says "Not discoverable" ("Ikke søkbar" in norwegian). And sure enough, I cannot discover the phone from my PC the way I used to.
I have seen a few tips on various forums, such as turning bluetooth off and back on (obviously), enabling/disabling flight mode and resetting network settings. Nothing helps.
I didn't notice this problem before I upgraded to iOS 4, but cannot say for sure whether it appeared with the upgrade.
What could this be? I only hope it isn't a hardware problem...

Also having the same problem after upgrade to 4.0 (8A293).
    (iPhone 3GS)
Phone displays "Not discoverable" ("Ikke søkbar" in Norwegian) meaning that I am not able to locate the iPhone from any other device like my computer, or other phones.
But my iPhone works fine with already connected device. (Bluetooth handsfree in my car)

  • Right Soft Key error in N70 Bluetooth menu?

I have recently had my N70 upgraded to operating system version 5.0609.2.0.1 (I'm on UK T-Mobile)
I notice that when I go to the Bluetooth menu, then go to the paired device menu, and connect to a previously paired device, the exit option (right soft key) does not operate when it returns to Exit as an option (rather than cancel)
The key works in all other cases, apart from this part of the Bluetooth menu - I have to leave the menu by hitting the End key.
Is this specific to my phone, or is it genereric to that software version?
Anyone else got the same (minor) problem?

Sounds odd, probably a fault with the firmware though - maybe worth a factory reset? or getting back in touch with the centre that updated the firmware and asking them to reflash it?

  • How to show a blank or clear cell for the first entry in a numbers pop-up menu on a mac. I can do it on the iPad but not on the mac. Thank you.

Can you please advise how to show a blank or clear cell as the first option in a pop -up menu on a Mac, I can see how on an IPad but but not on the Mac.
    Thank you.

    Hi grm,
Yvan Koenig wrote an Applescript to create an popup menu with a true blank menu item. You can find it in Yvan's Box Account public area. Click on for_iWork'09, then for-numbers'09, then look for and download popup_with_nil.zip. Unzip the file, then open it with ScriptEditor.
Yvan's scripts include instructions (in French and English) on how and where to save the script and how to use it. I haven't read this one recently, so I can't give you any further details on it.

    Barry

  • Numbers web version -- menu bar suffers from "mystery meat" navigation. Tooltips perhaps?

The web version of Numbers (beta) is great, but the icons in the menu bar are a bit confusing until one gets accustomed to them. Surprisingly, hovering over the icons does not trigger a helpful tooltip, instead a new user is left wondering "what does this do, and what happens when I click it?" Typically labeled mystery meat navigation, links presented in this way often need additional explanation in the form of text or tooltips.
    Thx!

I agree with you.  One of the mystery meat icons is for sending feedback to Apple, which I suggest that you use since this is a user forum and Apple does not monitor it.

  • Why doesn't my bluetooth menu give me the option to "Set Up Bluetooth Device"?

Computer: 13.3 in Macbook Pro (2012)
I just bought a new bluetooth mouse (Gear Head Optical Mouse for Mac Computer).  The instruction manual tells me to click on the Bluetooth icon at the top right of my screen and click on "Set Up Bluetooth Device".  But when I tried that, my bluetooth pull down menu only gives me limited options, none which includes "Set Up Bluetooth Device". (see attached image)
I've already tried restarting my computer, going through the Bluetooth Preferences, and trying to connect via Mouse in System Preferences.  Does anyone have any ideas on where I might be doing something wrong or if I need to install anything additional?  Any help is appreciated!!

Following are instructions from help in the Bluetooth Preferences:
Make sure the device you’re setting up has charged batteries and is turned on.
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Keyboard, Mouse, or Trackpad. If you’re setting up a mouse or trackpad, follow the onscreen instructions. When your mouse or trackpad is discovered, it automatically pairs with your Mac.

  • Ipad numbers pop up menu calculation

Hi I am using numbers on my ipad and have two questions.
I have a worksheet which has a column with 15 cells that all have a pop up menu. The menu has two choices for answers a: girl b: boy.
I need to create a function that will calculate how many boys and how many girls have been selected. Is there a way this can be done.?
Also I have a column that has 15 tick boxes. If the cell is ticked I would like it to go green if it is not ticked I would like it to stay red. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance guys.

if there is a column with these pop-ups... lt's say column B in a table named "Table 1"
and you have a another table for a summary that refers to "Table 1", you can use countif():
    For the table "Summary":
    B2=COUNTIF(Table 1::$B, A2)
    select B2, copy,
select the column B by clicking the column header "B", then command click cell B1 to unselect, paste

  • Double character input error when entering data in numbers using Bluetooth keyboard.

Using a bluetooth keyboard (Logitech) sometimes causes a double character input when entering data in numbers.
For example if wish to enter the number "22" or the word "in" they become "2222" and "iinn". Pressing enter of tab also causes a double jump
This problem is not always solved by turning keyboard off and on or by closing down and restarting numbers.
This problem does not occur in any other app.
I have used 2 different Logitech keyboards (ultra-slim and the recently new folio keyboard) and both caused the same problem.
The error is sporadic but frequent and has lead to me often having to switch back to touch input.
Very frustrating considering these excellent keyboards are ideal for using in numbers when working correctly!
ANy advice would be much appreciated

    Zombie,
Not much help I'm afraid, but I just saw your post & wanted to let you know that I have the same problem, but for me it manifests itself in many apps, and it happens with the Apple bluetooth keyboard
. The only thing I've noticed is that it only seems to happen when I first start typing after not using the keyboard for a while (I'm not sure how long a while is, but maybe 30 seconds or so). Then I'll type & the first few letters will be fine, and then one letter double-types, and then it's fine again until I stop using it for whatever the threshold amount of time is. I'm guessing that it has something to do with the iPad's battery management & that it's shutting off the connection to the keyboard or something & once it picks it back up, then it double-types that letter.
At least in Pages, it isn't as big of a deal because I know it's coming, I can correct it & then type for a long time. In Numbers, my keyboard use is much less consistent, so I need to be more cognisant of it.

  • Transferring phone numbers via bluetooth

I have purchased a  Panasonic Bluetooth phone set and there is supposed to be a way to transfer email addresses from my 5S to it. Most likely would need to figure out a way to send a directory.  The landline phone is model KX-TGE272S
How may this be done? I have gotten it as far as being ready to receive, but their tech support says you have to do the transfer.
    anyone have any ideas?

I have found some other discussions that seem to imply this is possible. Your answer puzzles me since you write "between IPhones and other smartphones" unless you mean the panasonic land line?
The technique as I understand it is to first make a backup of your whole address book.  Then delete all the addresses you do not want to transfer.  Also, remove all images.
The follow the procedure after deleting all others and it should work.
However, I don't know how to temporarily delete all other groups. Does anyone so you don't have to delete each card?
Two reasons to transfer names and phone numbers to the Panasonic phone: one click calling, and when you get a call from them it announces the name. The latter is usually not needed for a land line with call ID functioning.

  • Bluetooth Menu Bar Icon Won't Go Away

Since installing 10.5.2 on my PowerMac QuickSilver DP 1 GHz, the Bluetooth icon appeared in the menu bar—even though I don't have Bluetooth capabilities on that computer—and I can't turn it off.
The Network preference panel for Bluetooth in System Preference has a "Show modem status in menu bar" instead of "Show BlueTooth status in menu bar" so there doesn't appear to be any way to turn it off.
Anyone else having this problem? Any way to fix?
Message was edited by: Will Mardis

I am not sure which preference file it is, but it is probably corrupt and needs to be trashed.
Perhaps someone here knows the exact file to remove.
