Numbers Template Chooser Dialog Tweak?

In reference to the Numbers Template Chooser Dialog box...
Does anyone know if there is a way to add your recent files to the "Side-Bar?"
Here is a picture of the Template Chooser...

Hi RokeyLounge,
My understanding of Template Chooser is for templates not personal files.
I think you're wanting when opening Template Chooser to see your files. When Template Chooser opens close it go to File > Open Recent. Or in Preferences have Number open to a blank worksheet then choose File > Open Recent.
If you'd want them readily accessible create a folder putting your files into it (or alias) then put that folder on the side bar of the Finder.
I hope I've correctly understood your question.
Sincerely,
RicD

  • Something wrong with Numbers templates/Template Chooser

I downloaded Numbers from the Mac App Store to replace an earlier version, which I then deleted off the computer.
Now when I open any documents I created in the earlier version, I get warnings that say that there are files missing from the template.
When I go to create a new document, the Template Chooser pops up, but it's totally empty and I am unable to create anything.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Jerry, thank you for responding.
What should I delete specifically? All I deleted the first time was the app file. I had assumed that would leave all application support where it was.
    David
I would assume that too, but it sure seems that more was lost. Yvan Koenig has written a script that deletes iWork '09. I think it might work in this case too. I don't think it would hurt to run it since what it does is remove all traces of iWork apps. It's designed for the whole package, not just Numbers, but it might work just fine.
    Download it here.
Otherwise you would just search out and trash all .plist files associated with iWork manually, and some may be difficult to locate.

  • When I open Pages, Numbers the template chooser doesn't open, some other finder type window opens.

Any way to turn it back on after ML install? In preferences the template chosser is selected and can't be unselected.

I assume you've applied the iWork 9.2 updater as well as upgrading to Mountain Lion. By default, ML & iWork assume you want to open a file on iCloud. If you don't have an iCloud account you can turn this off by unchecking Documents & Data in System Preferences > iCloud. Otherwise, the easiest way would be to type ⌘ ⇧ N to bring up the template chooser.
Or it could just be that the preference files are corrupt, but it does seem odd that they would both do it at the same time.

  • Pages (or Numbers) Template Cannot Be Opened From Outside the Application

Ever since the upgrade to Mavericks, I cannot open a Pages (or Numbers) template without being asked.....
Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser?  Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
If I cancel, it won't open anything.
But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
So the only way to open a template in Pages (or Numbers) is to open the application first, and then click "New", and choose the template.
I can't figure out a way to open the template from outside the application, which is very very handy, rather than having to open the application every time that I want to access a template.
How can I open a template simply by clicking on it?

Yes, the problem is that opening the template from outside of the application will not open the application, showing the document.  I only get this....
Do you want to add this custom template to the Template Chooser?  Then my only options are Cancel or Add to Template Chooser.
If I cancel, it won't open anything.
But this template is already in my Template Chooser.
Put your Pages or Numbers document on your desktop and open it by double-clicking it, and you'll understand.  You can't do it, even if the template is in your template chooser.
The only way to do this now is to open the application, select "New", and the select the template.  So you cannot open a template from outside the application....only from within.

  • Where's the My Templates folder in Yosemite, or How to delete a Numbers template.

I have Numbers 3.5.2 - where'd the My Templates folder go? I don't see it in Library/Application Support. .... In other words, I'm trying to delete unwanted templates. Could it be that it's now easier to find than in earlier iWorks, but I'm missing the obvious???

When in doubt, check HELP. (duh).............
Rename or delete a custom template
After you install a template, it appears in the My Templates category in the template chooser.
In the template chooser, Control-click the template name, then choose Rename or Delete.
If you’re renaming, type a new name, then press Return.
You can’t rearrange templates; they always appear in the order in which they were added.

  • My templates are not always showing up in template chooser

When I click on numbers all of my templets do not show up in "My Templates"
When I click on the templet it tells me it is in the Template Chooser do I want to replace it.
Are there two different places Numbers is saving items?

It also takes time for the photos to be transferred out of your iPhone and into Photo stream on Apple's iCloud servers.
Note that this can't happen if your iPhone is not connected to a WiFi network:
When you enable My Photo Stream on your devices, all new photos you take or import to those devices will be automatically added to your photo stream.
iOS devices: New photos you take are automatically uploaded to your photo stream when you leave the Camera app and are connected to Wi-Fi. My Photo Stream does not push photos over cellular connections.
Macs: Any new photos you import to iPhoto or Aperture begin uploading automatically when you have a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection. Or you can change your iPhoto or Aperture preferences so that only photos you manually add to My Photo Stream are uploaded.
PC with iCloud Control Panel 2.0 or later: Open a Windows Explorer window and under Favorites select iCloud Photos if you are using iCloud Control Panel 3.0 (or Photo Stream if you are using 2.0 to 2.1.2). Open My Photo Stream. Click the "Add photos" button. Select the photos to import to My Photo Stream, then click Open.

  • Open Number document with template chooser

    Hi
I have written a script that merges an address book group to a numbers document. I would like it to automatically open a Numbers document preferably with a chosen template (this would help with a label script).
If Numbers is not set to open through the template choser, Yvan Koenig's new document script works great (thanks Yvan). But it does not work with the template chooser activated. Is there a way to script the template chooser?
    MIke

Unfortunately, no. Pages will always open up with something, either a blank document, a document you create, or an Apple template.

  • Custom Category in Template Chooser

When I open the template chooser I'd like to be able to have category folders for my templates. I have quite a few for work and it would be nice if they could be sorted by category as opposed to the name of the template.
The iWork manuals suggest that you can do this by creating a new folder in the "Templates" folder. But when I do this I can't see the templates in the template chooser at all....
If I create a folder and add it to the "My Templates" category I can see the templates in the template chooser under "my templates" despite the fact that they are in their own folder(s) within the "My Templates" folder.
I'm not having any problems saving templates. I'm good with that. But I'd like to see my own categories within the template chooser....
    Any suggestions??
    -John

You can add folders to categorize your templates in Pages but, unfortunately, not in Numbers. I suggest you leave feedback for the Numbers team regarding this. You can find it under the Numbers menu > Provide Numbers Feedback.

  • Pages will not launch in template chooser.

Preferences is checked to launch template chooser, but launches documents files instead.  I created another sign in name and it launches properly. How do I correct this problem in my account?
    Thanks

Pages v4.3 on Mountain Lion 10.8.2. iCloud is on with Documents & Data enabled.
When I launch Pages, it presents with a file dialog offering available files based on the last setting for either On my Mac, or iCloud. If the former, it refers to the last folder location saved. If instead, I choose New document from the bottom panel of this dialog, Pages immediately opens into my blank custom template (configured in preferences). Otherwise, it would normally open to the Template Chooser.
If I choose Cancel from this preceding dialog, then I have access to the File menu:
New - directly opens blank custom template
New from Template Chooser... - as expected
    Open Recent - as expected
Pressing shift+command+N pops up a Template Chooser window as expected. Template Chooser also appears at the bottom of the Pages menubar window menu.

Does anyone know how to delete templates from the template chooser ?

If using Lion... in Finder, hold down the Option key while clicking on the Go menu and your users Library will appear...

  • Is it possible to have a shortcut to a numbers template on the desktop?

I have guests coming to use a particular form on my computer and I would like them to use a template so that the form always stays the same, but I would like them to be able to get the template straight off the desktop so they don't have to go searching for it.
    Is this possible?

If the guests don't want to use File > New > Template Chooser (quite easy to do) you could make available to them a script that opens a new Numbers document using a specified template.  Details here.

  • I have several custom templates in the my templates/templates chooser. How do I remove and/or delete them.

I have several custom templates in the my templates/templates chooser. How do I remove and/or delete them?

    Hi Muizen,
Your remark that Yvan's "remarks are completely useless to (you)" may be correct, but that's hardly his fault.
Your question was posted in the Numbers community, a place for discussions of issues and techniques specific to the Apple spreadsheet application Numbers, part of the iWork set.
This community is one of several at the Apple Support Communities site, a place for discussion of technical issues specific to Apple hardware and software.
Your question regarding removing unwanted templates, posted in the middle of a discussion of Numbers templates (with a side trip to templates made with Pages, the word processing and page layout application that is also part of the iWork set) contained no reference to any application other than Numbers having produced those templates.
Yvan may have added 'unclearness' to your understanding of the issue, but the origin of that unclearness is your initial post. In case you've forgotten it, here is that post again, quoted in its entirety:
    "Hi Edgar,
I am struggling to remove custom templates that I don't need.
    The advise is:
Use the Finder to navigate to the templates and send them to the trash. Look in:
    Username/Library/Application Support/iWork/Numbers/Templates/My Templates.
However after Application Support iWork does not show up.
    Do you have a solution?"
Where in that post do you make it clear that the custom templates you are talking about are "MS Word" templates? Where do you even mention that fact?
In your most recent post you state: "I tried this approach but reported that there is no iWork in my system."
Actually, you did not report "there is no iWork in (your) system,"t. You did report that "iWork does not show up" when you followed the path given.
You had made no mention to that time that iWork was not installed on your computer, and the fact that you had posted a question about removing templates in a forum(and in a discussion thread) specifically for one of the iWork applications would lead any reasonably intelligent reader to assume that the application was on your computer, and that, like the other users in this discussion, you were asking about Numbers templates, or at least about templates for one of the iWork applications.
Given that assumption, and given that the supplied path was the correct path to a user's custom templates for numbers, the most likely explanation of iWork's name missing from the path would be the one Yvan assumed—a misstep by the user at the beginning of the path.
    Regards,
    Barry
