Numbers within Numbers

Hello,
I am new to using Mac's Numbers program. I'm sure this is resolved easily, but...
If I want to type 2.0 in a cell and do NOT want it to auto-fix it as 2 when I press "enter"..How can I fix that?
I'd appreciate the help so very much!

Formatting the cell as Text will result in the cell displaying exactly what you type into it. You must do the formatting prior to inputting the text.

Itunes script to detect gaps in track numbers within an album

Is there an iTunes script out there that will detect gaps in the track numbers within an Artist & Album? This would be useful to detect incorrectly numbered tracks that could reveal an error in the whole file's tagging that occurred for whatever reason. I'm picturing a process that would sort your library by Artist+Album+Tracknumber, then look for any numbering gaps and if found, display the 2 files with the gap in-between into a playlist for the user to evaluate for problems. Or perhaps this is not possible?

I'm assuming from the product info you're looking for an AppleScript for iTunes for OS X. If you want one for Windows I could probably oblige.

Can you suggest a group messaging app where recipients can't see all the phone numbers within the group? My friends are complaining that they can see all the people in the group; also when I get a response from some in the group, it comes to me ane many others in the goup - its like they've replied all.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry it hasn't worked out for you. I threw together a simple project that uses rectangles to represent your Bike and wheel groups. They all animate across the canvas in the bike group and the wheels rotate. I have attached screen shots so you can see how they are constructed.
This image showsthe bike group where the orange rectangle and green circle represent the frame. The white rectangles represent wheels and the green and red rectangles I threw in to represent a wheel that has multiple objects in its group as your wheels do.
Here the animation across the screen has started and notice all wheels rotating and staying with the frame.

Trying to copy and paste a website into a cell within numbers such that one clicks on the cell

It doesn't seem to recognize all links properly. For example I have trouble with links with https:// as opposed to http://.
If you've pasted the link into, say, A2, you could try, in another cell, entering
=HYPERLINK(A2)
It seems to help to have this turned on (in the Edit menu):

Creating Serial Numbers within Repeating Groups

I am trying to have Serial Numbers within Repeating Groups. The situation is that there are no Serial number field within that table (in the DB) to handle such a request. Can someone guide me as I am a newbie to BI Publisher.

Spotlight doesn't find "numbers," in Numbers. Way to fix that?

Hi.
With Excel documents, Spotlight finds numbers within the document. i.e. an invoice number, an amount, etc.
However, Spotlight is not finding any numbers inside my Numbers documents.
Is there anyway to change or fix this? THanks for the help. Even if there is a third party way or something? Thanks!

i can imagine why spotlight does no indexing on data inside cells... it looks to me pretty useless to index files that have hundreds of reoccurring numbers numbers and numbers - would you like to have an overview of all files that has the number 6 in it, or 51.... and than to think of it that a lot of numbers in a table are not numbers at all, but only calculations
however, there is a way to get spotlight informed:
use the inspector, document (most left tab) there is a option to set various spotlight hints like author, title, keywords and comments
hope that will help
wished that Numbers and others were more scriptable, so i could get some cell contents and paste it into the keyword field there

In Numbers '09, use Insert > Page Number
Place the page number in a page header, and it will appear on each age when in Print View and when the file is prnted.
May have changed in Numbers 3 (current version).

Outline Numbering in Numbers '09

I want to create a five-level outline numbering in Numbers, but each entry has a 1. Surely I don't have to manually change each entry? it's 300 rows! The data has been copied and pasted from a website, then formatted in Numbers. Can outline numbering be applied, or does Numbers assume you're always creating your Tiered numbers list from scratch?

Numbers isn't supposed to be a clone of Excel. The delivered features are selected in Cupertino, not in Redmont.

The old Numbers will be on your computer unless you deleted it. Look in a folder called iWork '09 inside your Applications folder. Launch Numbers 2 (Numbers '09) and do what you used to do to create a Custom Cell Format. For example, you might want a nine-digit phone number to appear as (123) 456 789.
Save that document. To protect it from Numbers 3.0, make a copy of that document with a different name. Ensure that both your original Phone Number documents are closed (to protect them from that bully Numbers 3.0). Then Open the copy in Numbers 3.0. The custom format will be listed in Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format
Type a nine-digit number into any cell and format the cell with Format Inspector > Cell > Data Format > Phone Numbers.
Note: copying a cell with Custom Format in Numbers 2 and then pasting into Numbers 3 does not work. The pasted cell ends up as Text, and the Custom Format is not added to the Data Format list.

How to Auto Update non-TOC Page Numbers within a document (ie, 550pp)

Friends. Within a large Pages document that is dynamically changing, along with the total number of pages, the TOC (ie, Table of Contents) can be easily updated.
However, I want to point to specific content, and therefore the correct page number for the content, within the document and have that pointer (ie, a page number) *update automatically as the page numbers change*.
I need to repeat this about two dozen times for different references to make a 550 page document more reader-friendly by making it easier for readers to find the exact source or reference elsewhere in a document.
How do I do that within Pages '08 ?

If the document is designed to be read on a computer, you may use links.

Thus, I am backing up to iTunes.
This morning's sync/backup resulted in me losing most of my contacts, and for the contacts that remain, 99% of the phone numbers are gone. I can recover my calendar entries from this past week, but I don't know how I can recover all of them from my May 2012 backup.
Since I had a backup just last week, I'd like to just go back to it. But how? Or, is there another way to get my contacts restored? And why did they disappear? And what else may be gone that I just don't know about yet?

How do I get this loop to give me numbers within a range?

So for a school assignment I need to get a loop to display all the numbers in a certain range. This range is input by the user with a starting number and an end number. For some reason when i put the code in all its giving me is the end number and not the numbers between the start and end. I was wondering if someone could show me what to tweak to fix it. Being that you're a student and this is an assignment, I have to honor what I believe the intentions of the assignment are, which is for you to solve it and get it working, not for someone else to hand you the solution. But I can offer a hint...
It's not a question of slowing it down, it's a question of controlling what gets written to the output textfield when. If you did the trace you saw that it was rewriting the textfield in each loop. So just as a hint, look up the appendText() method of the TextField class.

Why is my contact list showing Facebook profiles of people whose number I don't have in my contacts? Isn't the "contact list" supposed to only identify and match facebook profiles with contact phone numbers within my iphone?

When I went into the Facebook app on my iPhone 4S, I tried finding friends through my contact list. I thought only contacts with cellphone numbers matching a Facebook profile would appear to add as a friend. What's being populated are friends of my friends. Why is this happening? A friend of a friend isn't my contact. Shouldn't a true contact have a phone number in my contact list when attempting to match contact to Facebook profile or did things change with iOS 7.0.3??

Many mail clients reject images, JavaScript and embedded CSS styles. For best results use plain text near the top to communicate your message and give a link to the actual web page on your server.
For mail clients that do have limited support for HTML, use uncomplicated tables and inline CSS rules (inside the body tag).
All that meta data description is a red flag to spam filters. You shouldn't be using meta description or keywords in e-mails.
