I insert the international code +45, +49, +44 etc.) in front of all my contact numbers because I need to use them when I travel. It's sort of part of the way GSM works.
Why then, does e.g. a Danish number calling not get recognised and the name revealed, just because the person calling never calls / goes abroad and therefore doesn't have the international code in front of the contact numbers in his/her phone.

This error is often related to USB timing. Try changing USB ports, using a different dock connector to USB cable, and other available USB troubleshooting steps (troubleshooting USB connections. If you are using a dock, bypass it and connect directly to the white Apple USB dock connector cable. If the issue persists on a known-good computer, the device may need service.
If the issue is not resolved by USB isolation troubleshooting, and another computer is not available, try these steps to resolve the issue:
Connect the device to iTunes, confirm that the device is in Recovery Mode. If it's not in Recovery Mode,put it into Recovery Mode.
Restore and wait for the error.
When prompted, click OK.
Close and reopen iTunes while the device remains connected.
The device should now be recognized in Recovery Mode again.
Try to restore again.
If the steps above do not resolve the issue, try restoring using a known-good USB cable, computer, and network connection.

have you tried charging the device ?
if so and it still does not work you can try a Forced Recovery..
by holding the HOME button down and plugging it into your computer at the same time..

Check first if your iTunes is up-to-date. If it's updated, try using a different cable or try plugging it to a different USB port.

So then this means your Energy Saver preferences are corrupted somewhere. I would at least backup your data in case something else gets corrupted by a damaged directory, or the hard drive is beginning to show signs of its dying, or you find you might later need to repair your directory. Regardless, I wouldn't update your software until you find out why your Energy Saver doesn't work properly with the only third party item being a display.

Forgotten Restrictions Passcode Help
You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.

If the reset isn't working I think its unlikely that allowing the battery to run down will help.

White Screen & USB device not recognised - 8900

My 8900 turned on one morning displaying only a backlit white screen. I connected to my laptop and was able to sync and backup in Desktop Manager. Whilst connected I selected the last installed apps to be removed. The phone rebooted and froze.
Now no matter what I do I cannot get my laptop to recognise the phone (usb not recognised). The phone still has a white backlit screen.
Tried removing battery for 10 hours.
Any advice?

STOP PRESS: On a whim, I tried plugging the USB cable direct into the PC (its an old 'tower' model that sits under the desk). Bingo. It suddenly recognised the iPad. I had previously been plugging the USB cable into the port on the monitor. Why this makes any difference is a total mystery. But it's an easy WORK AROUND, so it will do.
Would still be interested if anyone has a solution that saves me furtling under then desk everytime I want to sync my iPad.

Hi was syncing my ipod touch 4th gen it does not recognise my ipod in itunes and have been restarting the computer and following instructing to try and get it going again but nothing will work.
