  • Transfer a char type varialble value to NUMC type variable

    Hi all,
I have a BSEG-PROJK  type NUMC(8) variable and one xyz type CHAR(50)  variable.
I have to pass value from xyz to BSEG-PROJK
my e.g is that while I am passing
    xyz= 'M-000064'
    BSEG-PROJK  = xyz
then the value of BSEG-PROJK is 00000064 but i need M-000064

    Hi,
The value M-000064 is showing in field PROJK of BSEG, due to the conversion routine ABPSP attached in the domain level of this field.
    - To check the actual value stored in data base level
    - SE16 Give table name=>to see the table contents Press F7=>settings=>user parameters=> uncheck the check box check conversion exit.
    - now the value in field PROJK will show in numeric.

  • Problem with a Dynpro field (type numc)

    hi everybody.
I'm developping a ModulPool application in wich i have 2 RadioButtons with 2 textbox fields.
What i pretend to do is, when the user clicks a radiobutton and strikes Intro, enable the corresponding textbox field and disable the other one.
My code runs fine, but i have a little problem. When I loop the screen table, to set the appropiate value to the 'input' property, in this case, when i try to disable it (input = '0'), I get a zero character in that field. This field has NUMC type, i'm sure this is the problem
'cos i've got no problem with the other field (type char). But i can't solve it.
    Anybody's got an idea?
    Thanks

What you are seeing is the normal behavior of a numeric field represented by the SAPgui.  This is how all numeric fields are displayed via SAPgui.  If you don't want to see the 0,  then you just change the field type to CHAR and handle accordingly.

  • Problems with fields of type NUMC

    Hi,
I have the following problem in SAP XI -> SAP R/3 synchronous scenario via Abap Proxy.
The SAP Proxy returns a BAPIRET2 structure and the field NUMBER of  this structure is a NUMC. The field NUMBER is not obligatory and doesn’t have any value by default.
The problem occurs when the value of this field NUMBER is ‘000’. In this case no tag for field NUMBER is generated in XML message and in SAP XI I don’t see this value.
Can you help me with this issue?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Elsa

    Hi Elsa,
create a string field in your interface, regenerate your proxy and fill the new field with value of NUMBER.

  • Problem with Characteristic of type NUMC

    Hi,
I have a characteristic field with data type NUMC and length 6.
When I load data for that field as "1" it gets updated as 10000.
What might be the reason for the same?
    How to solve it?

I'm thinking there is a some conversion exit issue.
Try to have the Conversion check box checked in Transfer Rules, if that doesn't work Need to write a trasnfer routine in which you need to exclude the leading/trading zeros.
    Hope this helps!

    Hi Praveen,
If you are fetching ATINN from AUSP table, then you need to use conversion routine..
Call the FM  CONVERSION_EXIT_ATINN_* & you will get the converted value.

  • Data Type NUMC from R3 to BW

    Hi Expertts,
The datatype NUMC holding a value 00000 in R3 becomes
SPACE or NULL by the time it reaches to PSA.  Is there
a way to prevent this from happening.  I want the value
intact when and the same when it reaches the PSA up to
    the cube.
    Thanks for your reply.
    Best regards,
    Rose

    hi Rose,
try to use 'domain' in r/3 without 'convers. routine' = ALHPA if it's your customized extraction.
you can double click the field used in r/3 and then double click 'domain'.
or check if remove ALPHA from conversion routine in bw infoobject used to map to that field.
    hope this helps.

  • Explain about Data Types INT1, INT2, INT3, INT4 & NUMC

could anyone explain about the data types and give examples.

INT1: 1-byte integer between 0 and 255. The length is set to 3 places for this data type.
INT2: 2-byte integer between -32767 and 32767. Fields of this type should only be used for length fields. These long fields are positioned immediately in front of a long field (type LCHR, LRAW). With INSERT or UPDATE on the long field, the database interface enters the length which was actually used in the length field. The length is set to 5 places for this data type.
INT4: 4-byte integer between -2147483647 bis 2147483647. The length is set to 10 places for this data type.
NUMC: Long character field in which only numbers can be entered. The length of this field is limited to a maximum of 255 places.

  • Why is there a data type NUMC?

    Hi ABAP masters,
working in database support for several years I've very often seen the problems that arise from the awkward data type NUMC.
A numeric type stored as characters.
What I always wondered is: what is this data type really good for?
The leading zero output display alone is hardly a valid reason to waste storage and complicate the usage of the data of that type.
I cannot imagine any use for this data type that wouldn't be better done by using integer types.
So, if you know what the reasoning behind this data type is, please let me know.
    thanks and best regards,
    Lars

NUMC data type can be used to maintain positive numbers with leading Zeros
Most of SAP's important numbers like Sales Order numbers, Customer numbers, Delivery documents,
Material numbers, Sales Org, Division, Company Codes, Distribution Channel are CHARs only
But if their Data is containing only digits, SAP Transactions will automatically add Leading zeros for them and store in the database as Raw data.
If those SAP numbers contains at least one non-digit character, then leading zeros will not be added.
Example: if 54 is assigned to BUKRS it will be stored in DB as 0054
if 5A is assigned to BUKRS it will be stored in DB as 5A only
Leading zero concept is very useful for Date and Time calculations.
Month, Day, hours etc., must be declared as NUMC for better calculations
    Example:
PARAMETERS p_year TYPE I.          "instead of Integer we can use type N LENGTH 4 also here
        DATA  v_month TYPE N LENGTH 2.
        DATA  v_day     TYPE N LENGTH 2.
DATA  v_year    TYPE N LENGTH 4.       then calculations will be easy
        DATA  FDATE   TYPE D.
        v_year = p_year.
        v_day  = 1.              "1st day of Month
        DO 12 TIMES.
v_month = sy-index.           "Leading zero will be added automatically
            CONCATENATE v_year  v_month  v_day  INTO  FDATE.
WRITE / FDATE.                "Every month 1st day of selected year
        ENDDO.
Example:  Customer number contains uneven digits.  It should be converted to a 10 digit number
with "C" as 1st Character.  Logic will be
                     PARAMETERS custno TYPE I.
                     DATA  v1                     TYPE  N  LENGTH  10.
                     DATA  str_custno         TYPE C LENGTH 11.
v1 = custno.       "customer number will be converted to 10 digit number
                     CONCATENATE 'C'  V1   INTO  str_custno.
please correct me, if I am wrong

  • How to compare char and numc in select query

    Hi  Experts,
I am using For all entries  to combine two tables.
I want to fetch the data from these tables.
The field in one table char, and in another the field is numc.
1st Query from table BDCP2  and get the tabkey value is like (2000000000000000000086200000000000000000000)
2nd query     For all entries found,
query table ESTMJ with the following parameter.
         ESTMJ-RECN = BDCP2-TABKEY+3(20)
    1.TABKEY         CHAR     254
    2.RECN         NUMC     20
How to compare these two ?
    Regards,
    Bindhu Priya.

for  two fields numc & char , please check out their Conversion routine in their respective Database table.
1st in SE11-> enter table names in different sessions. and check out the data domain used by this fields
In their respective domains of fields, click on tab 'DEFINITIONS', then check out the conversion routines in Output Characteristics of the Data Domain of field
From my point of view, both the Conversion routines should be the same.
If Conversion Routines are not there, then insert suitable Conversion routine for both the fields domain

  • Strange NUMC, Can anyone please Define NUMC.

    Hi Experts,
I have experienced a Strange things with NUMC.
How ever you define your Numc (straight or dictionary ref like "DATA: value1 TYPE pa0000-pernr) or what ever.
I have seen different results different scenarios as shown in below example.
    REPORT  znumc_test.
    DATA : value1 TYPE n LENGTH 6.
    DATA : value2(15) TYPE n.
    DATA : value3 TYPE numc10.
    DATA : ltext(40) TYPE c VALUE '0##010,SHOCKING-RIGHT,02 000'.
    WRITE:/ 'Test1'.
    WRITE:/ value1, value2, value3.
    SPLIT   ltext   AT ',' INTO value1 value2 value3.
    WRITE:/ value1, value2, value3.
    CLEAR : value1, value2, value3.
    WRITE:/ value1, value2, value3.
MOVE 'Can it be done?' TO value2.
    WRITE:/ value2.
CONCATENATE 'It' 'Can' 'be' 'done.' INTO value2 SEPARATED BY space.
    WRITE:/ value2.
    value1 = value3 = value2.
    WRITE:/ value1, value2, value3.
SPLIT 'Is This Possible?' at space INTO value1 value2 value3.
    WRITE:/ value1, value2, value3.
I encounter this behavior when I was uploading my CSV file using split.
Can anyone please Define NUMC exactly for me.
Output of above in my system is show below
    Test1
    000000 000000000000000 0000000000
    0##010 SHOCKING-RIGHT  02 000
    000000 000000000000000 0000000000
    000000000000000
    It Can be done.
done. It Can be done. n be done.
    Is     This            Possible?
    Thanks & Regards,

    Hi Suhas,
Thanks for your information. I did went to through F1 before posting here. But I am not impressed with explanation.
I think I might missing something, Thats why I was looking for some valuable answers from experts here.
    Properties
    Type = n
    Length = 1 to 262,143 characters
    Standard Length = 1 characters
    Name = Numeric text field
    Numeric text
Character string consisting only of the digits 0 through 9. Valid content of a numeric text field.
    Value Ranges and Initial Values
    Type = n
Value Range = Any alphanumeric characters; only valid values are the digits 0 to 9, however
Initial Value = "0" for every position
Can you explain difference in below,
    DATA : value(20) TYPE n.
MOVE 'Can it be moved?' TO value. "its not working or cant be moved
    WRITE:/ value.
CONCATENATE 'It' 'Can' 'be' 'moved.' INTO value SEPARATED BY space. "its working perfect
    WRITE:/ value.
My Point is pretty simple, Does NUMC allows characters in it. If yes, what are the scenario's.
Please shed some light on me.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Abend on CHAR  assigned to NUMC to Query

    Hi all,
An existing pgm is in such a way that CHAR type variable (data element) retrieved from a table  is assigned to another variable type NUMC (in a transparent table).
This NUMC variable is used for a join in another query with a table of same field but type CHAR.
    Eg :
    x1(char)  = x2 (NUMC)
Door no. is CHAR in table , NUMC  in transparent table in a query join.
    This causes dump.
probably error in assignment statement itself or when query is executed..
there's a space( or dot - not sure) in x1 which is not accepted by x2.
    Any help on this?
    Thanks.

    hi ,
there is one thing to remember when we filling the value with a number it will take like this. .. 24 as 24 only but when it is numeric it is like 0024 like ...so when on the assignment there may be some proble...or if u pass the same no of zeros to the character it will work i think..
