Saludos y muchas gracias,
Federico Lago
Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Uhm... Are you aware of the web sites like Google and FDA.gov? This is Sales and Distribution forum, doesn't look like the right place for the financial questions, much less industry-specific.
Perhaps there is someone within your organization who already knows? There is no shame in admitting you don't know someting IMHO, but there is shame in pretending to know...

  • Renewal process and solicitations

OK, since there seems to be no real people engaged in customer facing dialog these days I'll take the long shot at resolution by posting in here.
    Two isssues:
I am primarily concerned with my skype-in number but the problems appear to be system wide.
    1)  I do not want automated renewals to charge any of my credit or debit cards.  Never ever.  Not only with Skype but everywhere.  If I am happy with the service anf still have need of it at renewal time I will happily renew with the payment mechanism of my choice.  It is I who must manage my account balances, not some unknown automated money grabbing machine.
    2)  My account here and most all of my financial accounts are registered to my legal USA address.  My Skype-in number uses the area code for that address.  Therefore most all of my communication is done using American English.  However I spend most of my time living in Latin America and connecting through Latin American services (Mexico and present, Central America at other times).
Why do you keep sending renewal announcements and solicitations in Spanish?  Just because I'm connecting through an international ISP does not imply that I want or will respond to messages in my non-native language.

    Hi.
As far as I understand, process and initiate are just naming conventions. What really makes the difference is that, for sync processes you have a single portType with an input/output operation, and for async processes you have two portType definitions, each one containing an input only operation.
For sync processes, the requestor makes the call and waits for the response, using the same channel (same port).
For async processes, the requestor makes the call in one port and forget about it. Later on, a callback can be generated through the other port type as a means of notifying the requestor back in an async way.

  • Cannot buy QTPro online

I stay in South Africa and urgently need to get QT7 Pro to convert some video format in order to upload them to YouTube. The problem is with the online order form. The form doesn't make provision for people living outside the USA or UK to fill in alternative postal or zip codes. The fields are mandatory and I cannot submit the form without filling out the fields. It will not however accept any code that is seen as not being a legal USA or UK format. This is a huge frustration since I need the software ASAP. I also see no relevance to fill in a delivery address or any address for that matter. This is not software that needs to get delivered to my street or postal address. I just need a serial code and a download link after purchasing the software. Can any one please help me?

I think those warnings relate to the strength of the secure connection between Firefox and the server. But those don't explain why features on the page would be broken. If those are the only messages in the console, I'm not sure I can help further. Have you reported it to the site's webmaster (assuming they have a feedback form)?
One other thing to try is to test with a clean Firefox profile. This will bypass all customizations.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, close Firefox 4 (or 5) and fire up the profile manager as described in this article: [https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Managing profiles].
If that works, there could be a conflict between the site's code and one of your add-ons or settings.

  • Legally Unlocked 3G - how can I use when vacationing in USA?

I have a 3G iPhone, legally unlocked by Optus (standard in Australia). I'm going to be visiting the US for a vacation shortly, and want to use my phone for both US phone calls as well as data.
Obviously I don't want/need some kind of permanent subscription.
Any suggestions for a good strategy would be appreciated.

An iPhone unlocked by Optus in Australia will accept a SIM from non-Australian networks.
I was in the USA recently. You can purchase a cheap Motorola AT&T Go Phone in places like Walmart for $14.95. I did this in Hawaii. You then call them via a 1-800 number on another phone or via the website to activate it. You will need to provide US address details, including Zip code. You can then use the SIM from the Go Phone in your iPhone. The $14.95 does not include any call credit. You have to purchase that by the standard means. Check out http://www.att.com/gophone .
When unlocking a phone you should ensure it is unlocked before you leave the country. It is a lot harder to rectify once outside the country.
There are two main GSM-based networks in the USA: AT&T and T-Mobile. With an Optus SIM you can roam onto either. With an unlocked iPhone you can even use a T-Mobile SIM. I believe you won't get any 3G service on the T-Mobile network as it uses a different band than those supported by the iPhone, although someone may correct me on this.

  • Is it legal to have a USA Skype nr, but living in ...

Dear Skype Community, I live in Canada, but would like to get a Skype number. Since Canada is not supported I was thinking about getting a US Skype number. My question: is this legal or not? I have never lived in the US but I would like to get a Skype number so that my friends and family can call me.
Thanks for your help in advance.

Yes it is legal and call charges from around the world to call the USA & Canada are usually the same, so it shouldn't make too much difference to people calling you from abroad.

  • Germany, USA, France. 10 Licenses Adobe CC, is it possible and legally allowed to share them ?

We are an international company with branches in Germany, USA, France. the branches are individual companys, in Ger GmbH, in F SAS ind USA INC. If we want to use for example 10 Licenses Adobe CC, is it possible and legally allowed to share them over the three branches?

The Licenses can not be shared between countries. If I am correct the I assume you would like to buy 10 CC seats& use them worldwide. For this you can go for CC for Team & assign seats as per your choice.

i recently moved to new jersey from brasil...i had my iphone via claro in brasil sao paulo....i now want to use it on AT& T Or other...i understand it is blocked....can i get it un blocked legally correctly say at apple store or can i do it via apple site...or something.
OR DO I HAVE TO BUY A NEW PHONE??? :-(
    ALAN

    Hi alanhorne00,
Basically the inverse problem: Live in Brazil, I paid for a factory unblocked/locked iPhone and after attempting to update / restore, it doesn't recognize my carrier SIM chip (TIM).
Unsure of legality here, but just an idea to save a little cash.
    Que tal?

  • Is it legal to ship a software developed in LabView outside of the USA? specifically the United Kingdom.

I been ask to ship a compl\ile version of a VI that I been using in my lab to a Company Division located on the United Kingdom, with the new legal rules regarding software distribution I am not sure if I can send a copy without additional paperwork.

Company I worked for last had over 10,000 people working over 3 continents.
Guess who the expert was? The only thing the lawyers knew was how not to get busted for filling in the tax forms incorrectly.
And just to demonstrate how wrong it can go, a company recently got busted in Japan for shipping the equivalent of an accurate micrometer to North Korea. They have offices on every continent and 10's of thousands of employees.
A week earlier they were unfortunate enought to have an agent supply equipment to Libya
"The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) found a precision instrument at a nuclear facility in Libya"
By the way, just because they recipient is not paying for it has absolutely no bearing on the matter.
"The program in question is not beind sold in either country.  You are probibly okay."
And finally there are / were restrictions on exporting to the UK, hence my quote about Microsoft, it's only recently Brits were allowed to upgrade from 40 bit security in Windows. The American security services never really got over Philby, Burges and Maclean.....despite their own skeletons.

  • Is is legal to use Photoshop in India that was bought in the USA?

We run a photography business, and older versions of Photoshop are cheaper and are available on Amazon and ebay. We need legit copies of the software we run. So we are planning to buy it off ebay or Amazon.
We will be careful to check the serial number so that we don't get duped. But is it allowed to use Adobe software sold in the US in Inda?
    Thanks
    Richard

    This is confusing.

I'd love an explanation of how I did not give the man a break.
One can waste $300 on ebay buying a bogus license. And you won't know if you've got a bogus license until you've already paid and are trying to activate.
Contrary to popular knowledge, one can run a Photography business without Photoshop. There are many free GPL programs that are very competitive to Adobe's products: Darktable, GIMP, RAWTherapee, etc.

  • Purchasing a Mac Pro while visiting the USA

Well I am up for a a new Mac, my aging (but not out) G4 MDD (Dual 867) is struggling with latest app releases, especially iDVD, iMovie and iPhoto with no chance of using the latest release pro apps. Aperture looks like a very good upgrade from iPhoto, and I am eager to get a machine that can handle FSP and get off iMovie.
And the wife has agreed, only because I am visiting Florida in Feb.
The premium for Macs in Dubai is too much for the 2 Ghz its $690 and the 3 Ghz its $1000 over the USA price. So we thought that with the savings I could get a better video card and wireless options. Memory over here is a cheap as anywhere.
I know the 3 GHz model gives the greatest savings but all three models share the same bus speed and memory, it looks like only the CPU is different. There is a good possibility of upgrading in the future with off-the-shelf Intel CPUs, and I have seen the report on testing quad core Intel CPUs, not sure if it is real and not a hoax but that gives hope for upgrades in the future.
    The question is
Can I walk into an Apple store and ask for a non-standard config?
I would want to add the BT and Wi-Fi options and a better video card.
Customs in Dubai is not a problem, a maximum on 5% if I am unlucky. And at only 19kg it still leaves me with 17kg for clothes and stuff for the week.

    Good point about warranty.
What normally happens over here is warranty is view as useless. The retail industry sells and sells and is not that concerned with warranty at all. Yes you can take faulty hardware in for repair but if you are not a company then you get the run-around and they will keep your hardware for weeks, they will say they are waiting for the manufacture to reply but experience tells me nothing is happening.
Example: I purchased two 250gig hard disks for my RAID, within three months one failed so I went back to the store. They had stock but refused to replace the hard disk, they insisted on sending my faulty hard disk back to Maxtor. They did not want to take existing stock because that's for new customer who will pay. After three weeks with no progress I had to threaten them with legal action before they did anything.
In the west most retailers would have confirmed date of purchase, photocopied it and replace the hard disk while I was in the store if they had stock. They would then claim back through the manufacture or distributor.
I have had my G4 for four years with no faults, I hope that reliability you also continue with the new MacPro. Otherwise I would fix it myself and not rely on warranty.
Apple does have a master distributor in the UAE so I can approach them, saying that I recently moved to Dubai from England but need my MacPro fixing under warranty. One thing in my favor is 80% of the population here in expatriate.

  • How to legally buy US TV show to send to student overseas?

This is your oddball question for the day. I am in the USA. My daughter attends an international program at a university in far northern Germany, and it's master's thesis time. The prof assigns the thesis topics to the students. They have no choice on their topic, as I understand it, and I'm getting the feeling he relishes making it as hard for the international kids as he can.
Her Finnish friend has been assigned to write her thesis on the philosophy of some American TV show called The Bridge. It is not available on DVD yet, and no release date given, however, it is available on both Amazon and Itunes. Amazon's CSR says she can't download it from an overseas ISP because it's only licensed in the USA. I'm assuming it's likewise for Itunes.
It's my understanding that if I download a show, and make a copy or a backup to send to her, that she must have my original Amazon or Itunes password to access it, even on a DVD, and I'm not real thrilled about sharing that with some kid I don't even know. But she's in a pickle.
I thought of buying her a used Ipod Touch, creating a new iTunes or Amazon account, downloading it here, and shipping it to her there, but this seems awfully convoluted. Does anyone have a creative, legal suggestion? This student has little to no budget to work with, and I'd like to help her out, since she has no contacts in the US, other than her best friend's mom (me).
Same prof assigned my daughter a thesis topic on books that are so rare and HTF we are scrambling to find them in any country. But at least they're BOOKS! Good old paper books do still have their advantages, it seems.
Any advice appreciated. I'm quite sure there's ways to do this piratically, but I'd like to keep her on the legal side of things, since I assume she may have to show documentation or source material to her professor at some point.

Google on dvr to Mac. I just did; it shows, for one thing, that different software may be needed depending on the provider. Many reads showed up after doing the Goobgle.

I bought a new iPad in July in USA and it was set up by the Apple store in Houston, now I can't access my apps store neither can I view all my purchased apps.
Secondly, every time it want to update my apps that I bought years ago, it tells me to go to Nigeria store. I don't know why I must change to a store to update my apps
Thirdly, I think it's unfair to pay the same amount of Money for an IPad with those in USA and the you can't even download the good apps. It seems  the apps in the Nigeria store are those they don't want in the USA . Why can't we have the same quality apps considering we paid the same amount of money to buy this iPads. I think this is very unfair to us.

The apps available to you are dependent on your location. If you are not in the USA, then you cannot get the USA app store. Whilst you may think that is unfair, it has been a part of the stardard terms and conditions you agreed to when you setup the iOS device in question originally, as well as every time you click agree to the terms and conditions.
This is done because of two things, firstly there are many legal and semi-legal reasons that an iOS app store download is available in one territory and not another, in addition to this, it also allows apple to provide language specific content, as well as team up with companies and organisations within individual organisations in order to provide you with exclusive offers, content, and information, which it would not otherwise be able to do.
Rules for the iOS app store are also applied in varing forms for the music store, the books store, and the iTunes U content library.
I can very much understand your fustraition, as someone who spent a considerable portion of his life, especially during the years he grew up, living in California, USA, but now living in London, UK, I too find it very fustraiting that you cannot always get the same content from one country to another, especially when most marketing for iOS apps originates in the USA these days.
I hope this helps your query and helps to ease your fustraition. If you would like apple to be aware of your fustraition, rather than putting it onto a pubilc form which is on monitored in a very limited capacity, then you can fill in the form at http://www.apple.com/feedback where you can give your complaint straight to apple.

  • Legally Unlocked Phone from France

    1. Will the iPhone purchased in France, which is legally unlocked, work in the US and other countries with a local pre paid sim. I plan to use it in Italy, India, Philippines, Russia, Eastern Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, USA and other countries. I am looking for ACTUAL experiences from users, thank you.
    2. Will Orange, the Apple iPhone seller in France, sell the phone for cash in France, or do they require credit card?
I have heard that if you buy the phone using a credit card, it must be a French credit card, so therefore i must use cash in the local store in France.
I would of course buy a USA iPhone, but i am only here one month a year, and travel the world for work the rest of the time - which is why, if I use an iPhone, i want the legal unlocked French version to avoid the approx $2/min roaming charges.
Many of my business associates would also like to know the answers to these questions.
I have seen many Topics on this forum with speculation, arguments, debates, etc regarding this topic, but i would like please either an official Apple answer, or actual user experience - thanks.
Note - I have contacted customer service, customer sales, online Apple.com chat and my local store with no answer. If I go to France before the new phone comes out, which may happen, the older phone they have in stock there is 700 Euro which is more than one thousand dollars, so I would like to know beforehand if it will be functional.
    Thanks.

In regards to 1 and 2, I do not know.
In regards to 3, I personally believe so. However, I have not specifically been trained on the iPhone outside of the U.S.
The best bet for questions 1-3 is to contact AppleCare Europe or Orange.
In regards to 4, yes, that is what the silver Apple logo next to my name means. My posts are under the Terms of Use, including this section specifically:

  • Why Apple doesn't change my iphone in Argentina? Why have I to go USA for a change?

On febraury I bought an Iphone 4S but now the wifi doesn't work, this is a common problem in the Iphone, but now I am in Argentina and in my country there isn't any place where repair my telephone. I called to Apple to tech support and they told me they could not assist me because they only assist people from Mexico and Canada, and that I had to speak to an authorized service center in Argentina, so I went to the place they told me, in that place I say they can not sorting the problem, that the only solution is to travel to USA to change.
Because they tell me that if in legal terms of the warranty states that if Apple so you can make changes determined through some mail? Why not give me that option? I have the right to use my iPhone in its 100%, the truth that without wifi and bluetooth is how to use it by 50%.
    Any recommendations?

IPhone has never had an international warranty.
The warranty is only valid in the country of original purchase.
You will have to get the iphone to the U.S, then to Apple.

  • Purchasing a phone in the USA to use in the UK

I have been on google for days now and cannot find a definitive answer to what the differences are between a USA purchased iphone 6 and a UK purchased iphone 6.
What i do know is the model i think i need is the A1586, this is the unlocked version that can be bought in the UK.
It is used by Sprint in the USA.
A colleague of mine in the UK bought his 64GB in the UK and has the model number MG4F2B/A
From research i have done, these are the factory unlocked models in the USA
The factory unlocked models in the US with 16 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB of storage, respectively, are MG482LL/A, MG4H2LL/A, and MG4C2LL/A in silver; MG492LL/A, MG4J2LL/A, and MG4E2LL/A in gold; and MG472LL/A, MG4F2LL/A, and MG4A2LL/A in "space" gray.
None of which matches my colleagues number above, so is the 64GB over here the same as the UK and the model number is just used to show that it was purchased in the USA?

I have it ready for you. Did you want to add Applecare + for it at all?
not at this stage, I understand I may add it in the first 3 months, is that right?
    Absolutely!
actually, what is the warranty situation? Will I be able to take it to a UK Apple store if I have an issue?
You sure can because it does include international support.
unfortunately that is not what the Apple legal terms and conditions say ,published and thoroughly vetted by Applwe Legal
