Numeric Keypad Decimal Character

Although all our NLS% variables seem OK for our locale (Spain)
we can't get in Forms 5 the numeric keypad decimal character as a comma ',' (as needed in our language) but as a dot, which breaks all our localiced masks ( eg 9G999D99).
As our app. is data entry intensive, we need a way to use the numeric keypad, but keeping the locale conventions. It wasn't an iussue before the Euro, but now is a must
Any hint how to change this ?

Hi
Numeric keypad is controled from keyboard driver when your
software use standard Windows control. We had similar problem
and only solution that we found was to pach the file describing
our keyboard. It is not very good because it is not fully
correct and it is different in different Windows versions.

Missing numeric keypad & Character Styles shortcuts

Hello everyone,
Is there a way of activating the keyboard shortcuts we customized for Character & Paragraph Styles using the new Mac keyboards that don't have numeric keypads? Without the numeric keypads, one has to open Character/Paragraph Styles panel and click on the desired shortcut, which is tedious.

Using the Alt key and numeric code from Character Map to insert special characters in Office 2010 programs

I am used to using the ALT key and specific numbers for characters from the Character Map to place characters in Office programs like Outlook, Word, Excel. I have a new Lenovo T530 Laptop running the Windows 7 Professional Operating System. I have MS Office
2010 Home and Business. In previous versions of Office, this feature worked first time, every time. On this machine, it is a 'no go' situation. Lenovo tech support says it is a Microsoft issue and Microsoft says it is a Lenovo issue. Either way, I'm having
difficulty resolving the issue and getting this wonderful featrure working for me. Any suggestions and guidance would really be appreciated. Thank you.

Haven't been verified this myself, but since this feature require to use the numeric keypad to input the value, I suspect the cause of the issue is the laptop keyboard.
To workaround this issue, try enable the numeric keypad from your laptop keyboard, normally, we can enable it by press
Fn + Num Lock.
After that, try insert characters again.

Numeric keypad emulator for MacBook Pro?

I've noticed that the state of the Fn key can be read in software, rather than just being a hardware-level modifier key. How do I know this? There's the Keyboard Viewer and StickyKeys, which both treat Fn just like other modifier keys.
Anyways, you know how the new MacBook Pros don't have the embedded numeric keypad? Well what I'm wondering is if there's some software to bring this back. You know, it can intercept keyboard messages and, if a key that would normally be part of the embedded keypad is pressed, check whether or not Fn is held down. If not, it will type the normal character. If so, it will type the number. Certain programs require the numeric keypad, or are at least much more usable with it (Blender, anyone?) and it would be really nice to have something like this. Thanks!

...and remap the fn-key to fn-key-with-numlock, where fn-key-with-numlock enables the "missing" embedded numeric keypad on the newer MBPs.
@Tuttle - how does that help the OP? There are USB and Bluetooth numeric keypads everywhere (I've even seen them in gas station convenience stores!). There's even 'an app for that', if you have an iPhone/iPod Touch. But, the OP is asking about the embedded numeric keypad which is present on older MBPs (like mine) but was dropped with the Early 2008 models.

Numeric keypad shortcuts no longer work?

I've just upgraded to Yosemite with the latest Safari that comes with it. Previously I was on the "latest" Mavericks with its associated "latest" Safari.
And previously, I was able to use keyboard shortcuts to go to my nine Favorite Bookmarks with the Command modifier key and a number key — the number keys being either the top row of keys above QWERTY or those on the numeric keypad of my Apple extended keyboard (USB).
Now the numeric keypad keys don't work for shortcuts in Safari. Only the keys above QWERTY works.
What am I missing?
Is this a Yosemite bug?

Bob and Peter, thanks for your posts. Bob, I had previously come across the article by Sandee Cohen that you referenced. The technique there seems to provide a method to remap InDesign's keyboard shortcuts to allow use of the Alt key for events within ID, but I haven't been able to apply this strategy to custom shortcuts applied to paragraph, character and object styles. And the designer who developed our shortcuts very systematically used all of the available combinations (shift, option/alt, control, alone or in combos, and 0 through 9 on the numeric keypad). They had a great system on the Mac that unfortunately has now fallen apart on the PC.
I'll keep digging and definitely welcome more advice. Thanks again!

Numeric Keypad USB Keyboard

As my Alias says it, I am new to Mac. I purchased an external keyboard which has a numeric keypad. The MacBook and the external keyboard have the French Canadian layout.
When I use the numeric keypad, the comma/period key defaults to comma. To get a period (i.e. decimal point) I have to use Shift+[,] or [CapsLock]+[,]. Is it possible to set the default action to a period and the alternate action to comma?

And unfortunately you were right. I tried many keyboard configurations and none would give me the period without loosing the french Canadian keyboard layout. Another funny thing is that the caculator will accept either the comma or the the period as the decimal separator. In Spotlight only the period is valid as a decimal separator.
Maybe this should be a feauture request for an upcoming keyboard driver update.

Numeric keypad on T430?

Hi, I recently got a new Thinkpad T430 from my employer and I am quite happy with it.
There is however one minor drawback. The numeric keys, normally accessible with the Fn key, have gone. I guess this makes sense for most users, but I actually use it quite a lot to get the é character. Just press both the Fn and Ctrl buttons, type 130 on the numerical keypad and there it is.
Is there a way to get this back? I don't want to keep my keyboard on US, and having to go to the character map every time is a pain!
Any help is much appreciated!

In my opinion, the simplest solution would be to purchase an external USB Number Pad. This will cost a little bit of money, but I don't think there is any other way to get the Alt codes without a Number Pad, save for using the character map, which can be very tedious. Having to carry the keypad with you as well as the machine when you're on the go may cause a bit of hassle, but you should be able to do the Alt codes again.

U150 Numeric Keypad - Where is the Enter Key

If you enable the numeric keypad on the U150 keyboard, which key is the Enter key? I need this for InDesign and other applications, where the Numeric Keypad Enter key has special meaning.

I see now that it's context dependent. However, when entering text for a search string in the browser, Swiftkey shows a "Send" key instead of "Enter/Return". When I have an Enter/Return key there, I can just press it and the browser starts my desired search immediately. With the "Send" key, I press it and nothing happens other than a space character appearing immediately after the search string! If I press it twice, the browser will finally start my search.
This is just the wrong context for Swiftkey to have a "Send" key in place of the "Enter/Return" key. In fact, I'd rather have it be an "Enter/Return" key all the time, that has always worked for me in all contexts. So I'm about ready to throw Swiftkey out of the boat, although I've happily used Swiftkey on Android for a couple of years...On Android Swiftkey, the "Enter/Return" key never changes to a "Send" key, so I think that this is just broken on iOS 8. I really don't like it when keys on a keyboard change depending on context, anyways, that just a badly designed user interface.
If they don't fix it soon I'll be dumping Swiftkey until they do fix it. I really did like Swiftkey on Android, but on the iPad not so much. Maybe I can find another keyboard, other than the Apple keyboard, that works well on the iPad. Bums me out, I was looking forward to being able to use Swiftkey on iOS 8 like I could on Android.

Lost numerical keypad function

During the middle of a long photo editing session the num lock light went out and the numeric keypad ceased to function. Pushing num lock didn't change anything. Removed all other USB devices, tried all the USB ports, restarted, reinstalled OS. Nothing worked. Replaced keyboard with new one and repeated all of the above. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

Are "mouse keys" on?

How can I use my iPhone 4 as a numeric keypad for my ipad?

I am a teacher that uses my ipad for entering and keeping tracks of grades. The one thing that would make this perfect, is if I could use my iPhone as a numeric keypad. I have found many ways to use the iPhone/ipad as a keypad with a PC but not ipad. There must be a way.....they sync/talk to each other all the time. HOW?

My laptop doesn't have the bluetooth hardware I need to update the software in my cars hands free kit it's downloaded in my PC but no way to install without bluetooth. What I'm trying to do is .

I am facing some problems when I am Working with Numeric Keypad on Oracle Forms 6i.
I have 10 Buttons and In Every Button Property I have defined the "Access Key".
e.g

But I am not able to apply this Technique on "*" , "/" , "-" , "+" , "." , "Num Lock".
How Can I utilize these Characters(*,-,+,/,NumLock) in my application to perform a certain task using Single Key Stroke through Buttons or any other way in Oracle Forms 6i.
Note : We don't want to give Keyboard / Mouse to User. We have given a Numeric KeyPad to the User for a Certain Task.

It works for me on 10g but the only pitfall is the " * ", the workaround is to use the " & " in the label next to the key you want.
for example:
Button*   label &*

Display flashes white when I hit 0 on numeric keypad...why?

Using Logic Pro 9...
When I hit the 0 (zero) key on the numeric keypad as a transport control alternative, the entire display flashes white, and Logic does not respond as it should when 0 is pressed.
I thought maybe this was an accessibility option, but in "System Preferences > Universal Access > Hearing" I see that "Flash the screen when an alert sound occurs" is not checked.
Also, hitting the other number keys causes the Logic window to get hidden for a brief moment.
Any ideas?

In 9.0.1 Apple changed the behavior of unmapped keyboard commands. In 9.0 you'd hear the Apple 'donk' sound when you hit an unmapped key; in the latest version you now get a flashing screen.
As for your other question, it's because those keys are assigned to changing Screensets. You might want to Google that one - one of Logic's nifty workflow features.

1. Take the field as Numeric Field or Decimal field from Library.
2. Select the field from Hierarchy.
3. Go to menu> windows> Script Editor.
4. Choose Exit event in the script editor.
5. now write the following code in the exit event of the numeric field/decimal field.
$.rawValue = $.rawValue/100
Thats all what you have to do.

Update jtable cell via numeric keypad

I have a problem, trying to figure out how to input numbers in a jtextfield in a jtable cell, from a group of jbuttons (rendered as a numeric keypad). I can get the cell to focus, but when I click on one of the jbuttons in the keypad, the cell loses focus and nothing is printed. I can update the cell by directly typing from the keyboard; that works fine. But I'm lost when trying to do it from the touch-screen keypad. Can anyone point me in the right direction. I assume I need to attach additional listeners somewhere.

I can get the cell to focus, Then the code for you button would need to be something like:
String text = (String)table.getValueAt(...);
String updated = text + button.getText();
table.setValueAt(updated, ...);
