Numeric Precision on Key Figures
Hi Sdn,
What is the impact of the setting "Key Figure with Maximum Precision" on types Amount, Integer and Number? We are trying to import amounts or numbers with 9 places to the right of the decimal point. How does this setting help us, or does not?
We are loading from a flat file. How the above impact, source flat file, staging and query design and display?

How to model a non key figure numeric field

I am new to SAP BI, so please acceopt my apologies if I am asking a very basic question.
I have some numeric fields which are attributes of master data. These fields are not key figures and will not be aggregated. How can I model this in BI? I have to keep them as numeric fields because they may be used in some calculations at reporting.

You can display them as display attribute along with your main infoobject in query.

How to identify which key figure will the numeric pointer for deltas?

Hi All,
I have created a numeric pointer for generic extraction ? but how to identify which key figure will the numeric pointer will use for deltas ?
how to identify the key figures which is suitable for numeric pointer. And the generic extraction is based upon the copa table?
Can anyone suggest me how the numeric pointer works and how to identify deltas are carried out at numeric pointer?

Pooja,
If you are using a generic extractor which is based on COPA table, then numeric pointer may not be the suggested delta extraction mechanism.
A time stamp would be the better one to use. In a time stamp, you can give a lower limit value of 300 seconds.. so that it will try to fetch the missed records.
Moreover, a delta would be based on a character, preferably a time char.
In your requirement, try to figure out the character on whichdeltas will be based.

Not Displaying "Net Sales" key figure in Crystal Report

Hi All,
I have made one Info cube (with Characteristics -Product, Region and Customer and Key Figure - Net Sales) from Flat File.
I want to make crystal report on this. For that i have connected this infocube in crystal Reports via OLAP Connectivity. I am getting all the characterisitc in Field Explorer and one more Field "Measure" in which two field is displayed:
- Measures, Level 0
- Measures, Level 0 (long)
Now i have dragged all the characterisitcs in detail section with Measure, Level 0(long). While i am viewing the preview of this, i am not getting value of that line item.
Ex.
Product Region Customer NetSales
Actual one:
AC East BigBazar 14000
with Measure, Level 0(long):
AC East BigBazar NetSales
with Measure, Level 0
AC East BigBazar [Measures].[ZNETSALES]
I am not getting 14000 i.e. Actual value.
Hope i am clear with my idea. Am i missing something?

for the denominator calculation
the value should be

3 Decimal place values for Amount Key Figure

Hi Experts,
I have created an ODS in BI 7.0. This has a amount key figure which is getting calculated by a routine. Now The value that is getting calculated is getting stored into the ODS with only two decimal places.
For example if the value that is gettig calculates is 0.187 by the code, the values that is getting stored is 0.19.
This is not related to Bex display. We need to store the values 0.187 in the system and not 0.19.
The Amount key figure that we are using is of unit 0DOC_CURRENCY . In Additional properties, 'key figure with maximum precision' check box is ticked is . We have not defined any decimal places for the BEX Display.
Kindly help us in this matter.

If you wish to change the decimal precision for your 0DOC_CURRENCY... you can use t.code CUNI to change the number of decimal places. But, then this would be global effect wherein whereever this infoobject is used it would be reflected with the changes you made in CUNI. Also check if you have authorization to change this.

Conversion routine for time key figure

Hi,
i have a filed in datasource which has length 5 ( of numeric char ).it may be coz time can be represented as "hh:mm" which has of course of length 5.
this particular field is mapped to a key figure of type time ( which is only 4 numc ).
because of this mismatches transfer rules are not getting activated.
what i need to do now? is it neccessary to write a conversion routine again?if yes, can any body write here the code required for it?

Hi Ravi,
Assuming time comes in 'HH:MM' , colon placed explicitly , Code should look like ...
bwtime(2) = r3time+1(2) .
bwtime2(2) = r3time3(2).
Where BW_Time stands for info object.
R3time stands for transfer structure field.
Normally time field is of type numc lenght 6 ( HHMMSS) and inthat case should not be any issue when used in BW system.

Reports with only key figures? How to layout?

Hi anyone,
Could you kindly advise? I have a financial report which is about 20 key figures ex. Sales, Cash discounts, Revenue from operations, Gross Margin, Operating profit and Overheads % of sales...
For each of these areas I need to have 9 seperate numerical values:
Actual value (by month)
Last Year value (by month):
Budget value (by month)
Actual value ( year to date)
% of sales (ytd)
Last year value (ytd)
Budget value (ytd)
Full yr value (full yr)
Budget value (full yr)
This can lead to 20keyfiguresX9timeperiods = 180 numbers in the report. As I don't have any characteristics, it seems I'll end up with a very very long row.. Has anyone experience fixing this sort of issue?

Sorry for the earlier post for not explaining...
There are two ways you can do.
First way is meddling with the modelling....
Create 9 infoobject charecterisitcs with CHAR TYPE NUM and feed them with the key figures timeperiods thru update rule routine......Use this 9CHAR -> fed by kfs into Cube and you can use 2 structures...as far as the system is concerned you are using one structure of kf and one for chars.......
Second way...if ur using BEx you can think of Macros

Key Figures being displayed in Scientific Notation

Hi GURU's,
I have created a Analysis Process Designer (MultiCube to Flat File) and everything seems to be ok in that but the output for 2 of the key figures are in scientific notation (i.e. 10 decimal places) and this needs to be fixed up immediately.
The value of the Key Figure is displayed as 1.72E04 instead of 1,7231810000000001E04
How do I go about solving this issue.

I think in floating point math adding 1 to 9999999999999899999999 is going to be a meaningless operation as by the time one converts 1 to a floating point of the scale & precision needed to represent 9999999999999899999999, it's going to lose any significance (ie: it's going to basically be represented as zero).
You'll need to do a search on how to deal with numbers of very high precision & scale. I don't have any code to hand. Have you done any of your own investigation on how to deal with this?

Cockpit report-mapping of key figures in WAD

Hi,
I'm working on a cockpit report wich consist of several different key figures combined together and shown for various months + some planning values. The key figures come from a multitude of infoproviders (and applications). So you would have a plan value, a value month -1, a value month -2 and a value current month on the X-axis and than the different kind of key figures (for instance: financial result, costs, number of employees, absence % etc.) on the Y-axis. Hereby the number of digits can differ per keyfigure, as well as the scaling factor, and some key figures require a %-sign.
On top of this there are several key figures that combine data from different providers (let's say: financial result divided by number of technical installations).
Now this can never be done in a query. Even the just the financial block would require key figures on both X- and Y-axis wich is not possible (and wouldn't make any sense in a logical way), not even mentioning the key figures that combine data from totally different applications. Now what I'm looking for is a way to map the query results to create the required report. If we'd only use the analyzer it wouldn't be a problem since I could put the queries on one tab and then use Excel functionality to map them to the fields and to be able to decide per cell how it should be formatted (with regard to number of digits for instance, wich can differ per cell). Since no navigation other than a selection on year/month is required this would do.
The only problem is that the client wishes to use web fucntionality. So now I'm looking for a way to do the same in the WAD. However I can't find a substitute in the WAD for the Excel functionality that is required to link query results to cells in the final report, nor to format each cell individually. My only solution (wich only solves the first problem) is one that constitutes of a large number of APD's that are used to get the query results into a DSO wich uses one key figure for al numerical info and some characteristics for the specification of the actual key figure that it represents.
First of all this solution is rather cumbersome and second, it doesn't solve my second problem (because the actual report consists of only one key figure for wich I can set the number of digits only for the entire column.
Big question is, is there anybody who has a more satisfying solution tho this problem. I'd think that there are a lot more companies that use reports that consist of key figures from different applications combined together in the way I described. However I could'nt find much on the inetrnet with concern to this matter.
By the way, I'm sorry for the poor lay out of this post, but no matter what I try, this forum ignores the use of the enter key and spaces.

Hi Priya,
Most likely, you have too many figures to display. You need to hide or add some drilldowns (or KFs in BEx) just to leave what you want to show in graph. Then select an area in Excel and use a standard Excel functionality to show graphs.

Key figure hierarchy is higher than the characteristics

Hello,
i have a problem about the hierarchy.
i have a info structure s902 with key figures Purchase order and Po-items but SAP see every PO-item as a PO.
So i have the same amount for Purchase order and PO-items. It should be for example 2 PO and 20 PO-items.
Purchase order :
event MA

Hierarchy            A
in my characteristics i have also items from MCEKKO and MCECPO like item catagory and material.
Do i have to change the hierarchy level or make a furmula?

There could be some other data already avilable in the Infocube. Pls take the Request ID or Number from the last run of the Infopackage you used and check the records only for that Request ID in Infocube.
You can check the data in the LISTCUBE Transaction.

Hot to conver text to number....i.e char to key figure

Dear All,
we have field called 0base_location characteristic.
The data for this field is 30 WAGONS
2 WAGONS Etc...
Based on this data i need to do a calculation i.e 32 i mean total of above two
its being a characteristic, i can not do the summation.
I feel the alternative is to map a this characteristic to a Z key figure and do some routine...my query is wil this solve the problem?
If so kindly give me the ABAP code....
please suggest other alternatives

Ur problem can be solved using Virtual Char. And Virtual Key Fig.
U need 1 Virtual Key Fig. and Chara. each.
U can move last par "WAGONS" inot cha. and numeric part to Key Fig.
After which u can sum up key part at query level.

Demonstrating numerical precision

I'm running a workshop teaching high school students to use Labview. For a lot of these kids, this will be the first time they use the program. One of my favorite programming topics is understanding numerical precision and how important it is to a computer (signed vs. unsigned, integer vs. floating, 8-bit vs. 64-bit, etc).
I'm trying to come up with some simple demonstrations in Labview to drive the point home. Ideally, I'd assign an seemingly simple math problem to solve. Maybe something they could do fairly easily in their head or on a calculator. But when they program it in Labview, it comes up with a completely wrong answer because they didn't properly account for precision.
For example, starting with a U8 integer equal to 1. Double the number eight times in a loop. If I ask them to predict the answer, they'll probably say "256". But, of course, the program will come back with "0" which will force them to think why and figure it out.
I'd welcome any clever suggestions to throw at the kids. Nothing too complicated - I want them to be able to program it themselves after a introductory lesson on using Labview. But something that will shock them a little and help wrap their heads around the concepts.

Definately make sure they understand that floats are not exact and test for equality just doesn't work! I'm tired of debugging those kind of errors. Rollover errrors is the other really common numerical error I see.

Virtual Key Figure ( Currency Problem)

Scenario: I have a DSO with all many fields. Requirement is to add one more VKF in DSO to get specific period balance of a GL from 0FIGL_O10 DSO and then display it as a column in Bex report. Added VKF is of type amount and unit/currency 0CURRENCY.
Required Report Format:
Material --- Col1 u2013 Col2 u2013 Col3(VKF)
M1--$4, 00-$140, 00u2014<Balance form 0FIGL_O10 for a period>
Work done so far:
I have added a virtual key figure ZVKF_BAL in my ZSD_O06 of type amount unit/currency as 0CURRENCY. In RSR_OLAP_BADI I have added a new implementation ZVAR_IMPL.
In class ZCL_IM_VAR_IMPL there are total three attributes.
P_KYF_ZVKF_GL u2013 Virtual key figure
P_CHA_0FISCPER u2013 Period is from ZSD_O06 for which we have to get the balance of a fixed GL account from 0FIGL_O10.

We are getting the balance values but it is coming with numeral with postfix ERROR.
