NV Silencer 5 Problem with a 6800 Ultra

I have purchased and installed an NV Silencer 5 on my Graphics card 6800 Ultra yesterday and realised that there was a problem in that the double backplate didnt have any vent holes to let the heat out, so i phones the people i bought it off and got them to send me on. However i left the cooler on just to see what kind of temps i was going to get and it was idling around 65 C which i thought was understandable. So i removed it and put the stock cooler back on with new thermal Paste and got 51 - 54 C which is great considering the old  thermal paste had me up at 59C. Anyways i got the replacement bracket today and fitted it all and guess what its still idleing at 65C now. when i put my hand at the back of the exhaust i barely feel any airflow at all, the fans spinning in the right direction and i have applied the thermal paste properly, so what am i doing wrong or is there something wrong with the cooler?

First off have you been using Driver Cleaner to get rid of all the old bits of drivers? if not go get it read the instructions and use it.  Re-start the driver process again.  The latest ones on the Nvidia site are probably a safe bet at the moment.  So clean your PC with that prog and install new drivers.
Then do as you say you have done and ensure 'FastWrites' are turned off.  This is most important.  Get 'Riva Tuner' and this will comfirm you have them turned off.  Also get the 'Coolbits' registry tweak.  Run this and it will add overclocking capability to your display properties.  You can adjust both 2D and 3D speeds.  Now what you must ensure is that they are both set at the same speed!  sometimes the 2D comes set lower than the 3D this can cause symptoms like you are having.  Set the 2D to the same speed as the 3D.
I have an XFX6800 Ultra  in my K8N Neo2 Plat and it works superbly so fingers crossed doing the above will sort it as they are the main probs with the 6800Ultra cards.

  • Problems with MSI KIT4 Ultra

    Dear members of this forum:
I have a problem with my mobo and i want to talk with you about it. 2 days ago, y bought a new chasis (with a new power supply (450W) to change my old one (350W) and some new components (a new modem, dvd rw and new HDD)
I removed all the components from my old chasis and passed them to new one. When i turned on my computer, WinXP started to Crash. Trying to investigate, i was removing the components (hdd conectors, lan card, modem, ect..). and the problem continues... But, at this moment, when i tried to turn on the computer for 4th time, It never come back (i cant turn on the computer) I removed everything component to reduce the complexity. Only the mobo, video and memory and i cant turn on! I removed from the new chasis and use the two power supplies (new and old ones..) and nothing. Nothing... No of the light signals ignites, i cant see the power led or some light. I tried to clear CMOS, but nothing happends... Anyone can help me? The mobo is out? I need to replace?
    Thanks for help

450 W. or 350W. really doesn't say much about P.S.U.s. Better tell us how much MAX AMPS they give to 3.3, 5 and 12v. lines. When turning on, do you see any life sign ? ( Fans spinning, any light ) Try starting all install again. Remove Mobo from case and put it over an isolated surface and start with min. hardware: CPU and HSF, memory (one stick) and Video Card.

Remember if you buy a PSU get a quality named PSU, like a Antec,
Enermax, Fortron, or the best, PC Power & Cooling for your primary PSU!
You can use more than one PSU, but the primary PSU that’s used by the MB
needs to have the correct amount of wattage for the MB and the Hard Drives.
The second PSU can power the 12v fans, optical drives, floppy drives, Peltiers,
water pumps, cathode lights, 3.3v-5v &12v LEDs, fan controllers, temp sensor controllers, etc, etc, etc.
A word of caution though, unless you under stand how circuits and currents
are used in your rig, I would advise you not to do this, because you can possibly
smoke your rig and burn down your house!

  • Dual monitor problem with MSI 5950 Ultra

OK, I finally got the money to have a dual monitor setup.
I am using a MSI 5950 Ultra card
    Soyo 600T Dragon Ultra MB
1 gb Corsair XMS 3500 ram
    AMD 3000+ processor
    Adaptec 2410SA SATA Raid card
4 Western Digital 74gb Raptors in RAID 0
    2 V201S 20.1 inch Viewsonic LCD monitors.
    XP Pro OS
I have updated all BIOS/DRIVERS on all hardware.
The problem is when I connect both monitors I get a system freeze. It is random and does not have to be event (ie mouse movement) generated. There are no event log entries. If I disconnect the analogue monitor the freezing goes away. Is this a known bug? If so when can I expect a driver/bios fix on the card? If not can anyone suggest a fix.
I have removed all non-essential cards.
    THanks
    Steve

Have you installed the driver of the monitor?

hi, i bought a new hd 160 gigs maxtor 7200 , and when i start my computer it show 163 gigs so its ok, i formateed it and in windows it show 127 gigs (ntfs).
well i know we lose some space when format but neber 36 gigs on 163 !.
can someones help me pls? who had the same problem? thanks

For your new hard drive to be recognised correctly by Windows XP you need to have SP1 installed. For details here:- Link If your CD is pre SP1 and you are doing a fresh install on your new drive you could do a slipstreamed install with SP1 included if you have access to a CD writer. Details of how to create the CD are here:- Link

  • Problem with MSI K9N4 Ultra-F

    Here's my configuration:
    DualCore AMD Athlon 64 X2, 2100 MHz (10.5 x 200) 4000+
    MSI K9N4 Ultra-F (MS-7310)
    2XKingston (1 GB DDR2-533 DDR2 SDRAM)
Using BIOS settings I cannot overclock my CPU for a single MHz. When tried, I had to clear CMOS. Also, I tried to use ntune utilities for overclocking, but when I enter any of those utilities, my computer freezes. That started when I flashed BIOS to a newest version(before overclocking was possible). Now I can't roll it back. Is there any chance to flash previous BIOS through Windows(I'm not familiar with flashing from floppy).
    What should I do?

  • Problems with SiS 745 Ultra with 2600+

    Hey all,
I recently had my old system (1700+) die on me when the PSU fried.  The mobo also fried (surprisingly, my hard drives, CD-ROMs and RAM was fine--one stick was partially melted, but it works perfectly) and my dad ordered me a new system.
It's the SiS 745 Ultra mobo with a 2600+ (not Barton).  The site we ordered from, http://www.pcsourceonline.com had it in a barebones kit.  We got the proc, mobo and case and I was under the impression that the proc would work at 2600+ out of the box.
It didn't.  We couldn't get it any higher than 2000+.  I then checked online and saw that out of the box the 745 only supported up to 2000+, but with a new BIOS it supported 2600+.  So I had to find a floppy drive and disk (seriously, who uses these?) and then flash.  The flash apparently worked fine, but I was only able to get my CPU to 2400+ at the max.
I changed the FSB to 133MHz, the multiplier to 12.5/13x (14x was down to 667MHz for some reason and 15x was 750MHz), and put the CPU:DRAM ratio to 4:5 and was able to max out at 2400+.
I went to Madison for the weekend and left my computer on because I was downloading some stuff that was going to take all weekend.  When I came back, the computer seemed to be fine, until I played Unreal Tournament 2k3 and it told me my proc. speed was only 1150MHz.  I rebooted, saw that on the boot screen it was indeed registering as 1150MHz.  I went into the BIOS and saw that all the settings were the same.  So I don't know what happened.  I putzed around a little and was able to get it back to 2000+.
I looked in the manual and saw that the CPU:DRAM ratios were the same for 133-165MHz FSB, so I bumped it up to 165 and restarted.  It was at 2400+!  But then when i got to the log on screen for windows, the screen was FUBAR and I could get  nowhere.  I had to put the FSB back to 133, and that's where am I now, stuck at 2000+.
I don't mean to go on a rant or anything, but I'm pretty pissed at how difficult this whole process has been.  When you order a computer and the site is set up with drop down menus allowing you to choose from 1800+ - 2600+ CPUs, you would think that the mobo's to choose from would be compatible out of the box.  They're not, and only through potentially destroying my motherboard was I able to...get my computer to ALMOST be where it's supposed to be.
I can find nothing online that tells me anywhere how to properly set up the BIOS so that I can use the CPU to it's fullest.
    I'm dual booting Windows XP Pro and Windows Server 2003 Enterprise, I have 512 (2x256)MB PC2100 DDR RAM, a 60GB ATA133 7200 RPM Maxtor hard drive, a GeForce4 Ti4400 128MB DDR video card, LiteOn 32x12x48 CD-R and a generic 48x CD-ROM
Any help would be VERY appreciated!  Thank you!

    Thank you, yet again!
I did a little research on MSI Mobos and found the K7N2 Delta-L and K7N2 Delta-ILSR--both of which seem comparable to the Biostar one, if not a little more expensive.
The Delta-L is a mobo choice on the site that I ordered the computer from, its an additional $46 from the base price (the base price that has the MSI SiS 745 Ultra as the standard mobo for all the CPUs you're able to choose from)...so I think I'm going to try and get them to send me that one.
Any objections to the Delta-L board?

  • Problems with my FX5700 Ultra-TD128

I have just bought a FX5700 Ultra-TD128 and when I turn my computer on I just get snow with some vertical lines of colour under it. I plugged my old card back in (Geforce 4 MX440) and it works ok. Any help? Is it a damaged card, or incompatability? Please help!

Did you remove the drivers first? Did you plug the molex power cable in? if so your card may be bad. you might want to return it.
One good way to swap cards is too download driver cleaner and install it
    http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/
Download the 53.03 drivers from nVidia
    http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
then unplug the PC from the Internet.... like unpulg your modem(this is important that way the device manager don't download and install the 52.16 drivers from windows update)
    1 Remove drivers...add-remove programs
2 reboot into safe mode. run driver cleaner with the wizzard for nVidia and the the cab cleaner(this takes a long time to run like 15min)
3 turn off PC and swap cards and then turn on PC
4 install the drivers you downloaded by dobble clicking to lawnch
Remember to cancel any boxes that pop up asking for a driver disk and shut of anti-virus software before installing drivers
Also make sure that you have the latest Mother board BIOS and the lateset chipset drivers installed.
Let me know how it go's

  • Problems with msi kt333 ultra

my friend bought a brand new msi board and it was working fine. one day he came home from work and saw it was on so he turned it off to save energy then he went back to work. when he came home he tried to turn it on but nothing not even the post screen all he got were 3 beeps after 15 sec it was on. so he took it apart and looked at it and nothing he could do could fix it. well i came over and looked at it. i cleared the cmos and it started up. i thought it was fixed boy was i wrong. it go into windows and there were no cdroms. so i turned it off and checked the cables they were in all the way and then we truned it on again and then the 3 beeps occured so i cleared the cmos and then nothing... not even the beeps all we got was a blank screen. so i  took it apart (all the way) and rebuilt it. 15 mins later i tried it again and nothing.... then i cleared the cmos the 3 beeps occured then nothng... i was getting mad quick. so i took out ide #2(cdroms) and nothing... then i just tried booting with the cdroms i got a post screen and then nothing... why is this happening. it posts fine with no ide or floppy connectors connected to it.  but then it crashes. i cleared the cmos changed the bat and done everything i could but nothing. can someone tell me whats up cause im about to take a shotgun to it and finish it..... :P

    Hi,
take out your RAM stick(s), and put them back again. Try with one stick first, also try with different slots. If none of the slots work, test your RAM on other machine. It could be your RAM has fully spent its life.

  • Problem with KT4 Ultra and XP 2700

First excuse my bad english (i'm from Germany)!!
I have a heavy problem with my KT4 Ultra.
    First my system:
    AMD Athlon XP 2700
Mainboard: MSI KT4 Ultra (MS-6590) Bios vers. 1.1
    MSI Geforce 4 Ti 4200 64 Mb
    512 Mb DDR Ram Apacer Technology 512 MB 16x(32mx8)DDR-SDRAM PC2700U-2533-700(CL2.5 upto 167MHz)(CL2 upto 133MHz
    Sound : Onboard
    GlobalWIN CAK38 II Kupfer
    Powersupply: Levicom 420W
    Win XP SP1
    Now the problen:
When i turn the FSB in the Bios up to 166MHz
the system crashes on Windows startupscreen!!
I've turned the FSP clock down to 164 MHz and Windows starts. But when i runned 3DMark2001 it crashes back to desktop !!
Then i turned the FSB clock down to 159 MHz and the system runns stabile!!
    Now what i've already tried:
Turned down Ram timings and frequency (same prob.)
    No heatproblem (CPU at 118.f)
Had the same system exapt an XP1800 instead an XP2700 and no problems!!
Called the MSI hotline (Germany) and they told me to type the FSB manually in the Bios (insted of numblock +and -).  ?(
Still the same problem !!  ;(
Has anyone the same problem as i ???
    THX !!

    Hi,
    I would try other ram....
Or start from BIOS default settings and only change CPU-FSB....
    See what happens...

  • Strange ide problem with 845 ultra

i have got a really strange problem with my 845 ultra board
    I have a 2.0 GHz cpu in it, 2x 256MB Nanya CAS2 ddr, , gf4ti and a Realtek nic, onboard audio
    ide ports:
    primary master: IBM 80GB hdd
    primary slave : Lite-On dvd
    secundary master: Lite-On 40x cd-rw
Whenever I burn a cd, the whole system hangs while writing the lead-in and lead-out, after that is complete, everything works fine again
Also, when i add files to my Winamp playlist, I always get a general protection fault in Winamp.exe...
And, yes I did check my ram with Memtest86, it is fine
Even a fresh install of either windows 2000 sp3 or windows xp doesn't have any effect, even with all WHQL certified drivers installed
The strange thing is: If I connect all ide devices on a Promise Ultra100 TX2, all problems disappear.
So, is my onboard ide controller dying?
btw, all ide devices work fine in my brothers k7t266 pro2..
    edit: fixed it
Never knew that the Intel ide drivers needed to be installed.
I have never needed any ide drivers for any board,so this surprises me.
