NVIDIA Cuda driver 6.5.18 crashes OS X Yosemite

Hello, I am getting erratic behaviour using RayTracing on CS6 11.0.4.2, sometimes it crashes the whole system, other times only AE itself. Anyone else experiencing this?

I actually had a very negative thing happen to me when I updated CUDA to 5.5.47, it broke my computer! Here's what happened and how you might put a band-aid on it for the time being....
Specs:
MacPro (Mid 2010)
Mavericks 10.9.2
ATI Radieon HD 5770 1024 MB
1) I went to System Preferences > CUDA > Update and ran the updated for 5.5.47
2) After the update was successful, I launched Adobe Prelude CC and it crashed immediately. Then I launched Adobe Premiere CC, crashed on startup.
3) I restarted my computer
4) Tried launching Adobe Prelude CC again, crashed.
5) Restarted my computer in Single User Mode, Ran a File System Check, shows that the Mac HD Appeared to Be "Okay"
6) Rebooted and went to System Preferences > CUDA, it shows that I had 5.5.47 but that a UPDATE WAS REQUIRED, the problem was that it didn't have an update button
7) I went to the CUDA update website and found the 5.5.47 update for Mac, ran it and it appeared to install successfully, but the applications still crashed and the preference pane for CUDA still showed that an update was required.
8) I called Apple, they suggested re-installing Mavericks, so I did. Still the apps crashed and CUDA showed 5.5.47 with an update still being required
9) I searched for CUDA and found that it was in HD > Library > Frameworks
10) I moved the CUDA Framework file to my Desktop to make a copy and to remove it from the Frameworks folder
11) Launched Adobe Prelude CC and Adobe Premiere CC and they worked fine.
I know CUDA does some wonderful things when it works, so if anyone has any suggestions on how to re-install and it get it working again, please let me know.

We are seeing reports that the CUDA 5.5.47 driver update released today addresses the crashing problems introduced by the CUDA 5.5.43 driver update in Premiere Pro and other applications.   So, if you have an Nvidia GPU, please update your drivers to use the most recent version of the CUDA driver.
    Thanks!

It should be added that only Macs and Quadros need the CUDA driver.  That is not required for use with GeForce cards on Windows.

  • Nvidia CUDA / Premiere CC mismatch??

Since using the Nvidia CUDA driver on my MBP 15" retina, I keep getting weird video dropouts in my windows, and the whole app freezes occasionally.
Is Premiere Pro CC becoming unstable because of the GPU?
I've also had some app crashes earlier, before the CUDA upgrade, but I figured that may have had to do with Premiere CC's dislike of my Canon C100 AVCHD codec.
Just one more thing; I keep getting audio dropouts on playback in my sequence.
Anyone else familiar with these issues? Or is it hardware related?

    Hi John,
I had actually done a fair amount of searching in the premiere aisle of the forums, and hadn't had any luck.  Reason being, I'm not sure it actually is a Mavericks problem.  Perhaps it is, perhaps it's a Quadro 4000 problem, perhaps it is a problem with my settings.  Again, it's remarkably strange that my GPU doesn't seem to be taxed at all within these programs.  AME also didn't seem to hit it.
    Cheers,
    Aemilia

    Hi,
the NFSv4 domain name is not necessarily related to the host name or the host's fully-qualified domain name (FQDN). It can be the same like the domain name, but it does not have to.
To find the corrent NFSv4 domain name, you have to look it up in the NFSv4 server's configuration files.
    Kind regards,

  • Premiere crashes constantly after update to CUDA Driver Version: 7.0.35

I have had troubles with the dreaded garbled screen bug, it occurs after working with premiere for more than an hour or working with 4K material or large graphic files.
But since updating to CUDA Driver Version: 7.0.35 premiere crashes immediately after starting the same project that worked  the previous day. Only switching to open CL stops premiere from crashing.
    Please advise!

  • NVIDIA Diplay driver crashes in Premiere Pro CS5.5

I have been editing AVCHD video in the latest version of Premiere Pro CS5.5 for some time now and then suddenly about 3 weeks ago I started having problems where the NVIDIA display driver for my GTX 580 would crash and then recover but kick me out of Premiere Pro in the process.  I had the Mercury Playback Hardware engine enabled.  Chaging it to software render mode fixed the issue and ultimately rolling my video drivers back to a previous version seemed to eliminate the problem completely allowing me to enable hardware render mode again.
I turned off auto updates on my video card since then and last night the problem suddenly came back.  This time software render mode crashes too.  I can even have Premiere Pro open and not be doing anyhting and sometimes after a while it just randomly crashes.  It happens with all my projects and never in the same place on the timeline.
I deleted all of the render files and recreated them and even imported the project into a new project.  This did not fix it.
I tried reinstalling old and new drivers using the "clean install" feature.  No good.
I edited the TDR settings in my registry increasing the delay time before it recovers as recommended by Microsoft when this issue occcurs and this did not resolve my issue.
I am really concerned now because from everyhting I have read it should be working in software render mode.  Since it's not I am at a loss.
I have other programs that use CUDA hardware rendering and none of them have an issue.  It just seems to be with Premiere.
I also checked the temperature of the video card and that's fine.  No overheating issues with my MOBO either.
I read somewhere that it could even be caused by a drop in clock speed on the card so I downloaded a utility to overclock my card and that didn't resolve the issue either.
Any ideas?  I'm in crunch time on a major project and I can't render, export or do anything without it crashing.
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit, 12 GB of RAM, terabytes of hard drive space and an intel 6 core processor.  My specs are well above the requirements.  I have had this card since December and like I said, the issues just started a few weeks ago.
    Thanks.

I am not at home so I haven't tried rolling back further but I can confirm the version drivers that I tried are 320.18 which was working for a while, 320.49 and 327.23.
For reference I have Premiere Pro CS5.5.2 and the latest Windows 7 64-bit updates installed.
The mobo is an ASUS P6T Deluxe.
When I reinstall the NVIDIA drivers I use the clean install option which completely removes the previous version before reinstalling.  I found that I have to reinstall this is the best way since uninstalling from the control panel only adds the drivers back on a reboot.

  • With hardware acceleration enabled, and with plenty of tabs open, using the Windows 7 taskbar preview option will almost always crashed the nVidia display driver.

    Latest Firefox 4 beta 6.
    nVidia GT240 1GB DDR3 with driver version 258.96.
    Windows 7 Ultimate.
If I have plenty of tabs opened, in Firefox 4 beta 6 with hardware acceleration enabled, using the Windows 7 Taskbar preview feature (that will show all the tabs Firefox has loaded) will cause the Nvidia display driver to crash. When this happen, the GUI part of Firefox will be unusable and has to be killed via Task Manager.
This doesn't happen if hardware acceleration is disabled.

It is beta software and the older 4.0 b6 version may not work with all display drivers.

I have the same problem. I just upgraded to Win 7, no problems. Then I upgraded to FF 4.0, and I kept getting Nvidia Video Card crashes. I always undo my last computer change/install when something like this happens, so I immediately uninstalled 4.0, and went back to my older version of Firefox. No problems ever since.

I've had very little trouble in two years. And now I do like Windows 7 but also eager for the RC.
I've been using the latest Nvidia. There is a method to the madness of how to uninstall/delete and install graphics drivers, or madness in the method. The W7 drivers are easier.
Nope. Something else. More sensitive to disk errors. You aren't running a program to boost fans. Something.
And some AV software is more prone to causing trouble. But all you need is a good AV/malware program, and even Norton AV 2009 is acceptable, or Avast or one of the others.

    Hi all.
I have an annoing issue with my t420's gpu. Driver seems to crash very often when i use gpu-hungry apps. i get a message like this "nvidia kernel driver has stopped responding but was recovered'.  Maybe anoyone has the same problem and solved it?
System is windows 8 64bit with the latest updates and video drivers.

Lock PCI/AGP to 66/33, that's the first thing.
2nd thing, get a better RAM.
3rd thing, get a better PSU.

  • Should I update to CUDA Driver Version 5.0.37 on my Mac?

A few months ago I was given a lot of helpful advice on this forum about installing a GTX 660ti card into my Mac so I could make use of the Mercury engine in Prem Pro CS6.
Here is the former thread for anyone who's interested: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4831609
Obviously it's a bit of a fudge using a GTX 660ti in a Mac, but it has been working for me mostly in the last few months. Yeah I've had some annoying crashes now and again but I'm never sure if that's down to the Cuda card, the Blackmagic card I'm also using or Magic Bullet and Neat Video plugins I use a lot.
Anyway today my Mac has thrown up a message that Cuda Driver Version 5.0.37 is available and the 'update is required'.
Should I install it? The obvious reason for my apprehension is it may undue the fudge that currently allows the Cuda card to work in my Mac. On the other hand it might make my Mac more stable.
    So, anyone got any advice?
    Here's my setup:
    Mac Pro 4,1
    2 x 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon (2 processors, 8 cores)
    32GB RAM (DDR3 1066Mhz)
    Nvidia GTX 660ti
Black Magic Decklink HD Extreme 3D+
    x4 3TB 7200rpm Internal hard drives (i.e. 1 root drive and x3 for footage)
OS X Version 10.8.3 Mountain Lion

    Hi Ivor,
I would take a backup of your system with Carbon Copy Cloner, update to 5.0.37 and see if it works. If not, restore the backup and you're back to where you are now.
FYI there is a newer version of CUDA now, 5.0.45, but it is for OSX 10.8.3. I haven't updated yet so can't tell you if it works.
    Good Luck,
    Neil

  • NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver

    Windows 7-pre 64-bit
    8gb ram

    AE CS4
AE keeps crashing. I get the following message while doing something as simple as scrubbing through the timeline, or changing opacity of a layer. in 1080p, I have a picture layer, a solid, some color corrections, and that's it. i just got this new computer and i have never had this problem on my old computer.
this message appears after AE crashes."The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close."
this message appears in the taskbar: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows kernel Mode Driver, Version 267.21 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
any ideas on how to stop AE from causing my display driver to stop working?
    Thanks, Ramzi Rebeiz

For anyone picking up this thread (it's probably too late for rrebeiz40 by now!) I have come across a simple but apparently very effective tip that has solved the 'OpenGL driver lost connection' issue for many people using various NVIDIA with various Adobe progs (incidentally a lot of these seem to crop up on Dell machines, especially Notebooks).
(It fixed my issue with Premiere Pro CS4 - GeForce GT 555M on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Dell XPSL702X).
It's posted on http://forum-archive.developer.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=5331&st=40 (look for the last post, No 50) as follows:
THIS FIX APPEARS TO WORK...found on an Adobe forum
"This issue led me to this fix: go to NVIDIA Control Panel --> Manage 3D Settings --> Global Settings, and switch "Power Management Mode" to "Prefer Maximum Performance" (the default "Adaptive" setting seemed to be the culprit). And that's it! The key here is changing the "Global" setting, as my individual programs were already set to "Prefer Maximum Performance." I can cause the error to reoccur by changing back to "Adaptive."
Otherwise lots more ideas on this site: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Fix...Nvlddmkm-Error/
My PC has been running for 2 days now. I only put the top fix in for now. Feel happier I have more options if need be though.

  • How Do I Uninstall Cuda Driver from my Macbook Pro

    Hi Guys,
I recently installed the Cuda Driver for my Mac because I was having problems playing Diablo 3, and later, working on Google Chrome.
The common problem is that I'll get a black screen, my music starts looping, there's nothing I can do but to hard reset my MBP.
It's a common problem as I've done my search online and always read about this happening on the MBP, so I've been desperately trying to find ways to stabilized the performance of my MBP.
I've got update combos installed, and checked for latest software updates and I read somewhere that you should not install other graphic drivers into your MBP and that is why I've opted to remove it. I simply went to my "System Preferences", right click on the Cuda icon and remove it from my "Preference Pane", does that mean I have successfully unistalled Cuda?
I wanted to ask your opinion on this as I've been experiencing these crashes alot more frequently lately. If I were to bring this in to a Mac Shop and get a diagnostics run, what could be the potential problem and how much may the repairs cost? Is this a Logic Board problem or a Graphics Card problem?
I've got a Mac OS X 10.6.8, running on an Intel Core i& 2.66 GHz chip, with 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3, I feel it's still good enough to use and I don't see the need to change to a brand new MBP.
Thanks for reading this and I appreciate any input or help you may offer me.
