NVIDIA Detonator Driver Performance Database

The guys at Tweakers Asylum have built a Public nVidia Detonator Driver Performance Database used to store information on the various nVidia Detonator Drivers. They are collecting benchmark information, based on 3DMark2001 SE results for nVidia Detonator Drivers.

Take Care,

My system halts whenever I do certain applications such as Windows Media player. audio cleaning Lab 2005 deLuxe, and recordings..... it happens all the time.  However, PC does not crash at other times.
I thought it was my old GeForce3 Ti200 in the first place so I changed it to GeForce4 Ti4600 and the problem is still there :(
I refreshed Win98se and downloaded updates from Microsoft.  I ran memtest68, Registry mechanics, Anti-virus - all successful but still my PC crashes!   By the way, my PSU is http://www.jeantech.com/Products/Power_Supply/400W/400w.html (+3.3v @ 28A, +5v @ 35A, +12v @ 17A).   This is my new PSU replacing my old PSU 300W just few weeks ago.   I suppose this PSU is rubbish! right?
Any suggestions here?

  • NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver

    Alienware M14x Laptop
    Windows 7-pre 64-bit
    8gb ram
3gb Video: NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M
    Intel i7 2760QM
    AE CS4
AE keeps crashing. I get the following message while doing something as simple as scrubbing through the timeline, or changing opacity of a layer. in 1080p, I have a picture layer, a solid, some color corrections, and that's it. i just got this new computer and i have never had this problem on my old computer.
this message appears after AE crashes."The NVIDIA OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver and is unable to continue. The application must close."
this message appears in the taskbar: "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver NVIDIA Windows kernel Mode Driver, Version 267.21 stopped responding and has successfully recovered"
any ideas on how to stop AE from causing my display driver to stop working?
    Thanks, Ramzi Rebeiz

For anyone picking up this thread (it's probably too late for rrebeiz40 by now!) I have come across a simple but apparently very effective tip that has solved the 'OpenGL driver lost connection' issue for many people using various NVIDIA with various Adobe progs (incidentally a lot of these seem to crop up on Dell machines, especially Notebooks).
(It fixed my issue with Premiere Pro CS4 - GeForce GT 555M on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit, Dell XPSL702X).
It's posted on http://forum-archive.developer.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=5331&st=40 (look for the last post, No 50) as follows:
THIS FIX APPEARS TO WORK...found on an Adobe forum
"This issue led me to this fix: go to NVIDIA Control Panel --> Manage 3D Settings --> Global Settings, and switch "Power Management Mode" to "Prefer Maximum Performance" (the default "Adaptive" setting seemed to be the culprit). And that's it! The key here is changing the "Global" setting, as my individual programs were already set to "Prefer Maximum Performance." I can cause the error to reoccur by changing back to "Adaptive."
Otherwise lots more ideas on this site: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Fix...Nvlddmkm-Error/
My PC has been running for 2 days now. I only put the top fix in for now. Feel happier I have more options if need be though.

  • Filesystem and SATA drive performance

    Hi you all,
I'm in the process of installing ArchLinux for the third time on my system and I'm in need for some suggestions. The previous installations went without problems but I have realized that the system was not really tuned for some video stuff I'm working with i.e that I need support for large files on my system. Did a google and found references on xfs system that should do the trick. All went ok and I could work without problems on dv files 10-13 GB in size but suddenly I've realized the abismal low performance of my harddrive when copying files e.g: 20 min for a folder of 512 MB (indeed with multiple folders and small files)!!!. The hardware I'm using is:
    AMD Athlon 2500
Gigabyte GA-7VM400AMF (VIA 8237 -sata controller)
    Seagate 160 GB SATA harddrive
    512 MB ram
-the "hdparm -tT /dev/sda" command gives me:
    /dev/sda:
    Timing cached reads:   1260 MB in  2.00 seconds = 629.77 MB/sec
    Timing buffered disk reads:  152 MB in  3.01 seconds =  50.43 MB/sec

sda2 is /boot formatted as ReiserFs
    sda3 is swap
sda4 is XFS formatted mounted as /
Now I'm preparing to reformat the whole drive, partitioning in the same manner but using JFS on the "/" partiton ....and this is what I would ask you guys:
    1. Are the hdparm readings "normal" for my system? Please reply with some of yours if you have sata drives.
    2. Please comment the sdparm readings (have no idea what could these be used for..)
    3. The reallife test of copying files tells me that there should be a problem on my system -I mean that my vaio laptop with a PATA drive @4200rpm does better. If this is the case what could it be - hardware? sata_via drive (I would be willing to test a proprietary drive if it exists)? filesystem?
    Thank you.

Your new drive may just be 'slower' than the old one.  If they are both 7200RPM disks, it is likely that the older/smaller drive has a faster access time and/or transfer rate.  This is not alwayst the case but it is possible.
Also, ensure that you have the latest nVidia nForce2 drivers installed.  If you know the new drive should be 'as fast as' or 'faster than' the old drive, then check the settings that JeanGuy suggested, and if they are all set correctly, look into reverting your nVidia IDE driver to an earlier version.

    Hi there.
I had encountered the same hanging problem at "Performing database characterset conversion adsvdcnv.cmd" (On Microsoft Windows Server 2003 - - XEON PROCESSOR - a staging area installation - rapidwiz ver 11.5.9.22 - . ).
What i did is that i installed the JDK version : 1.4.2.04 instead of 1.3.1 and reinstalled the product. So the installation completed successfully..

  • EnzoMatrix: NEW 256 Nvidia GeForce Driver Due May 24th

The 256 Nvidia Video driver (that covers both desktops and laptops) is due out May 24th. I am really hoping that support for our; 760i and 9800 S will be included. Here is the article:
256 Nvidia Video Driver Launch & 3d Vision Postponement
Yeah, they have pushed back the 3-D Vision Surround support until the June or July release of the 256 branch driver. If I am reading between the lines right (and I hope I am) it looks like Nvidia is FINALLY  going to start a regular Monthly  driver release, like ATI has been doing for years and years. Monthly releases keep up with newer games and advancing technology (like DX 11). Let's all send out Happy Thoughts to Nvidia supporting monthly driver releases!!!

Ahead of schedule, Nvidia released 257.21 WHQL today! Here are the links:
                                                    Nvidia 257.21 Win 7-Vista 64bit 257.21 WQHL Driver
                                                    Nvidia 257.21 Win 7 & Vista 32bit WQHL Driver
Most suprising is that that they only support desktops and not desktop/laptop as Nvidia indicated this 256.xx family of driver would. Mayhaps there are a lot more problems with the all inclusive driver than they had anticipated. Here is more infomation on this driver:
This is the first driver release from the Release 256 family of drivers (versions 256.xx to 259.xx). This driver package supports GeForce 6, 7, 8, 9, 100, 200, 300, and 400-series desktop GPUs as well as ION desktop GPUs. Learn more about Release 256 drivers here .
    New in Version 257.21
Adds support for Blu-ray 3D with NVIDIA 3D Vision technology. Learn more about the hardware and software requirements here .

  • Question nVidia Chipset Drive Package Version Number.

Question nVidia Chipset Drive Package Version Number.
Hope this question is in the right sub forum.
I have see this question asked on several Forums, but never see a answer.
How do you tell which Chipset Driver Package Version is installed on your system, other than going to the Device Manager calling up the properties for each device and record the version number and comparing it to what listed for the Drive Package version?
    Roger

    I agree with you Richard.
I wouldn't say super fast ram though, I buy Crucial. It is very nice ram and does not break the bank. (no heatsinks on it or any other expenses)
Maybe I offended you, Bcc, by accident. I'm just trying to help folks on these forums and I have been with the nforce since day one. I have never seen this issue happen (or anything like it) on this board.
Like my suggestion, (if that didn't work, I would have continued to work) if I couldn't disable the agp host I would have uninstalled it (the device itself) and let windows try again. It could have been an nforce package issue and not with the detonator. I wish when these problems occurred, that I had the opportunity to try and fix these very rare occurences and examine the issue at my own desk.
I see too many people jump to the conclusion that they have found the mystery bug and go tell nvidia to recall the boards and fix it. I would not try to tell you that you are clueless about computers, as I don't have any idea how well you know them. But as an experienced technical writer/helper, I'm inclined to speak to the people as if they are dumb. As you can guess, many aren't, and they think that I may be saying they are, but at least they understand the situation.
More than the majority of problems are caused by heat. Too much heat will cause funny things to start happening to your computer. Sometimes it's just the ram, or maybe the cpu that get overheated. With summer coming, it's prime time to see the 'heat' problem creep up. I'm sure this wasn't the case with your issue, but it is overlooked most of the time.
Anyway, I'm glad your happy and your problem is fixed.

  • 1.3 slowness because of "wrong" nvidia display driver

As 1.3 goes much slower as the 1.2 did before, I played around a bit with the configuration of my pc.
What I found out so far is, that depending on the installed display driver, lr changes it´s speed behavior drastically.
With the current nvidia forceware driver (v163.75), the sliders in lr are unusable slow. But when I re-install an older version (v93.71), lr becomes fast as the version 1.2 was before.
And it is not the nvidia desktop thing. This is disabled anyway. No, it´s the core-driver itself.
But it´s only lr who makes this kind of problems. All my other apps on my machine are just fine with the newer driver.
Anyway, I hope this info may helps others with the same performance problems.

Ok, I installed the v163.75 drivers, and now I get "real time" slider performance. Way faster than before. I would not be able to count the number of refreshes on the SAME photo i did prior to the driver upgrade. I slid the exposure, recovery, fill light, blacks, brightness, contrast clarity, vibrance and saturation sliders. Back and forth as fast as I could and had realtime updates in the photo viewed "to Fit", and "1:1". SO it is definately not JUST a driver issue.
So, maybe not an NVidia driver issue

  • Inspiron 9300 cd drive performance

well, i put arch linux on my laptop last week. its one with ide drives, not sata. dell never officially doc'd a difference between the two and put out very few with sata in them. i worked for them so i had the inside info on that, lol.
anyway, basically, since i've had it, i've always had issues with the cd/dvd drive performance, some bios issue and no option in the bios to force it to work properly, anyway, im not the only one who's had that problem
but since day one, with windows xp on it, never got the drive to read or write dvds past 1.2x, for cd's its roughly 10x and the drive is rated 8x dvd and 32 or 40 for cd's
anyway, even vista never got full speed. fedora 6/7 did though, and so did ubuntu, i think they were using an ata_piix driver or something, i had read about it when i was using fedora 4 but couldnt figure out how to recompile the kernel
basically, im having the same problem here with archlinux. wondering how i could get ata_piix working or if theres something newer to replace it

    Hi
I have been having same problems importing CDs , After Googling and reading various forums learnt latest version of I tunes has a glitch . Lets hope they sort it out soon and release update , What I did after reading forums was to go into I tunes , go to tabs at top FILE , EDIT etc, select preferences in drop down menu , Then you have to untick option to automatically get track names .
Put CD into CD drive , when CD appears without track details go into ADVANCED drop down menu at top ask to get track names , once they have appeared you can select import CD and it works fine , well did for me , if you go to i Lounge forum there is lot of info on it and probably wriiten clearer than I have . Good luck

  • Xorg fails to restart with nvidia propertiary driver

    Hi!
Dear fellow archers, I've got this little problem which is driving me crazy: after first successful start of xorg while booting  ("kdm" is in the DAEMONS list in rc.conf), i can't get to start it once again (for example with "/etc/rc.d/kdm restart"). When I try to do this screen goes blank (+ single underscore in top-left corner) for ~10 seconds, then nvidia logo shows up for half a second, and finally it failbacks to terminal.
I use thinkpad T61 with nvidia quadro nvs 140m and nvidia driver version 190.42 (from extra repo).
Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I don't think the 190 driver is intended for the quadro M series. As per the nvidia site, the 100 or 169 drivers support your video card.
edit: You might also try the nouveau driver.
Well, this quadro is almost identical to geforce 8400GS, so I don't think nvidia site is up to date in this respect. Besides, other than this issue everything works just fine. It is just annoying to be forced to reboot everytime I have to restart X. And I need nvidia propertiary driver, because I use opencl.
Thats odd then. I have an 8400gs and am using the beta driver without any issues. Give the legacy driver a try once.
    Exit the gui (ctrl+alt+f1)
    Remove the current driver
    pacman -Rd nvidia nvidia-utils
(replace with nvidia-beta nvidia-utils-beta if you switched to the beta driver)
    Now install the legacy driver
    pacman -S nvidia-173xx nvidia-173xx-utils
    Reboot
    Hope this helps.

  • Xorg 1.9.0 + nvidia 256.53 Performance Regression

Just thought I'd share in-case anyone else has this issue.
    PROBLEM:
After upgrading to xorg-server 1.9.0 I noticed text rendering was painfully sluggish,
this effect was most noticeable in my terminals (urxvt), when drawing text from
IRC or scrolling other text output.
I found the issue discussed here:
    http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthr … 563&page=4
and at the end the helpful Nvidia developer provided a fix
    in Nvidia 260.19.06.
    SOLUTION:
    install aur/nvidia-beta (260.19.06)
which clears up the issue with nvidia slow text-rendering with xorg 1.9.0
thank the lord nvidia cares about linux users! (a little bit anyways)

I am having frequent Xorg crashes with the Nvidia beta driver. For instance, if I run Unetbootin or Skype is crashes as soon as I launch them. I figure this may be a combination of Xorg 1.9, Nvidia-beta, and qt 4.7.0-2.
I am beginning to think that this is because I have three monitors and dual cards.

Also, I am running XMonad 0.9.1-8 and 64bit Arch if it helps.
Does anyone know when an update is coming to fix these issues?

  • To perform database update in a module with AT EXIT-COMMAND addition

    Dear All,
I have a function code 'EXIT' with function type 'E'. When this function code is triggered, my screen should close.
In the module that handles this function code (defined with AT EXIT-COMMAND addition), I will prompt the user whether he/she want's to save the data before exiting with the POPUP_TO_CONFIRM_STEP function module. The text message in the dialog box is "Do you want to save before exiting?".
When the user wants to save the data, a simple UPDATE statement will be executed to write the data on screen to database.
The problem here is since the module is defined with AT EXIT-COMMAND addition, the data on screen won't be copied to their corresponding variable on the code (correct me if I'm wrong). Therefore, even though database update is performed, the data written to database are no different that the original.
How to perform database update in a module with AT EXIT-COMMAND addition?
    or
Is it even a "custom" or a "good practice" to prompt user to save data before exiting?
    Thanks in advance,
    Haris

With an exit command, if there's anything that would be lost, I would prompt "Data will be lost, do you wish to continue?". If they do, the database is not updated, if they don't, they stay in the transaction.
This is because the exit command runs before validation. So how can you know the data is correct?
If you have a button to leave the transaction that isn't an exit command, then you could prompt to save instead. There the choices should be - quit without saving, save and quit, don't quit.
Doing a database update in an exit command is not a good idea.

  • MacBook Air/nvidia GeForce9400M/driver issue  font installation fails on xp

xp sp3 on a MacBook Air (bought 04-2009, 2x 1,86 GHz, 128 GB SSD) fails to install otf type fonts with an error message. Also Adobe Photoshop 10 (CS3) will crash upon trying to insert writing into a jpeg, tif, psd etc.
Source of problem: The nvidia graphic driver needs some more memory allocation than xp expects.
Remedy: open the registry editor (START>RUN>regedit)
    navigate to the following key:
    HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
    add a new REG_DWORD Value
change the name of the value to
    SessionImageSize
    set its value (decimal) to
    20
    reboot
-- this problem would only seem to affect xp sp3 systems with nvidia graphics
-- be sure to backup your registry before changing it and
be sure to know what you are doing before editing the registry
Apparently this problem has been recognized by nvidia and implemented in their latest driver release. This is not suited, however, for Apple products, since they have further customized the nvidia driver (and apparently NOT included this fix!).
The fix will resolve the problems mentioned above with installing otf type fonts and inserting writing into pics in photoshop. Photoshop, however, continues to crash upon exiting, an issue not yet resolved.

    Hi and welocme to Discussions,
use the SafeBoot options of XP as described here http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb%3Ben-us%3B315222&x=10&y=11
Use Safe Mode (=Minimal) to startup XP with a minimal set of drivers and from there uninstall the not-working Nvidia drivers.
The reinstall the drivers that worked.
You might wanna tryout if 'Last Known Good Configuration' works.
    Regards
    Stefan

  • No default driver for database type: jdbc:weblogic:jts problem

Here is what we are trying to do. We have two Weblogic servers running on 2 different
machines. Lets call them A and B. A has 2 beans lets call them Abean1, Abean2.
and B has one bean called Bbean1. Now Abean1 has to contact Bbean1 which in turn
has to contact Abean2 (dont ask why :) . We are running into transcation issues
namely ' No default driver for database type: jdbc:weblogic:jts'. Abean1 has Container
transaction and Bbean1 has Bean managed transaction. We set Abean2 methods transaction
attribute to NotSupported. However no luck. Has anyone come across this kind of
situation? Any clues as to what might be going on? Abean1 can contact Bbean1 successfully
ie if we dont force Bbean1 to contact Abean2. However when Bbean1 tries to contact

              thanks

Report to [email protected] It could be related to some JTS driver bugs that
