Nvidia Geforce 4 MX 460 Dual head tv in/tv out

I was wondering if anyone can help me out with this.
i replaced my Geforce 2 MX 400 tv/o with this new msi Geforce 4 card that has a special adapter for tv/in and tv/out. so far i have not been impressed. i installed the latest geforce 4 drivers and when connecting the video out to the computer to play movies on the tv all i get is a blank screen and looks white with distortion.  Now i have tested all the connections to another computer and works fine so either it is the small adapter or some incorrect setting on the computer. now i run on windows xp and i have the following components
- GA-7VRXP giga-byte board
- athlon xp 1800+
- sound blaster live value
- 2 maxtor 40 GB 7200rpm Harddrives
- DVD player
So I have never had a v/out problem before till i went to this new card and if anyone nows a common problem or defect in the hard then i would like to know
thanks

Hey I have found a solution to my problem
hope this helps anyone with this same problem with the display not working.
i formated the my computer and reinstalled the xp operating system and it fixed the problem.
no the video works
it think it was do to multiple versions of video drivers being installed and uninstalled
i also bought the geforce 4 ti 4200 which i benchmarked and got 7300 which is not bad
after formating and reinstalling windows i cranked out an amazing 9200 in 3dmark.
i am very please with the results and even got better then the specs on tomshardware page.
One very important thing to remeber for anyone that has Via chipsets on there motherboard is to get
the 4-in-1 update first thing even before installing the video drivers. :D

  • Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra / G5 Dual Processor / 30 in. Display

Just installed Nvidia GeForce 6800 Ultra in G5 Dual Processor and my 30 in. monitor is not working. Tried theis with my other monitor, a ViewSonic 8P810 and it didn't work either and said monitor had no signal. How do I know if card is working? I did hear the Mac ding letting me know the computer was powering up but not sure it finished. Will the 6800 with other cards above it? How often are these cards dead? Thanks, CD

Hi, I think you have to adjust your firmware, I just read this and it may help you.

Read through it, I didnt understand most of it but there are some usefull looking forum links that may help you.
    Good luck.

After Effects uses your CPU and RAM Primarily, not the GPU.
You only need NVIDIA CUDA for one function: the acceleration of ray-traced 3D compositions. Your newer Maxwell NVIDIA GPU does not contain the OptiX Library necessary for this function so it will not ever work for accelerating ray-traced 3D compositions. Sorry.
The After Effects team is no longer working on this feature and suggests that you use Cinema 4D Lite (bundled) for your 3D work instead. There are also some great third party options for adding 3D elements to After Effects compositions like Invigorator Pro and Video Copilot Element 3D.
    Hope that clears things up.
    Thanks,

  • Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT with dual link DVI connector..

With my old MD PowerMac G4 I ran a 23" Apple display and connected a Sony Bravia HD TV through the HDMI/DVI cable. I cannot physically connect both at the same time. Either one connector blocks the other from completely seating to the video card. It is like the ports are too close to each other.
    Am I missing something?
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you, you have enlighten me on the matter. There is a slight size difference and apparently just enough to make two connection on the Nvidia card.
    Thanks again.

Ive tried everything i could think of or what arch wiki could. I came to aurch linux to learn more about linux (fedora holds your hand to much.) but i dont think i can figure this one out on my own.

    serverman,
let me see if I understand your situation.
You are using the nvidia drivers and want to setup a dual screen with independent screens (?).
Without a xorg.conf one screen should work out of the box with one screen.
For the proprietary drivers you will need a minimal xorg.conf:
    Section "Device"
    Identifier "Configured Video Device"
    Driver "nvidia"
    EndSection
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Default Screen"
    Device "Configured Video Device"
    DefaultDepth 24
    EndSection
This still has only one screen, but can you try it and tell what happens ?

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS issue

I have a 24 inch iMac with a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS video card. The computer is out of warranty.
A while back I noticed that, while playing World of Warcraft, the computer would have a sort of graphical glitch and then freeze up.
This happened a few times, infrequently, until finally the computer would not start at all.
At the startup screen with the apple logo, the wheel would spin a minute, then pixels would appear all over the screen and it would freeze. The screen would then turn to a bright orange color and stay that way.
I took it in to the mac store, where I was told the video card had failed.
They replaced the video card, which I had to pay for, due to the computer being out of warranty.
I have had the new video card now for about two weeks. I just loaded World of Warcraft for the second time on it. After playing for less than 20 minutes, the screen glitched out (pixelated flashes) and then froze.
I am now afraid to play the game.
I have never had the computer freeze while doing anything else.
Considering I just spent $600 to replace the last video card, is there anything I can do to figure out what exactly is causing this problem?
    Thanks.

    Hi Riley71
I'm not sure what you were charged $600 for, but I would take it back and either ask for my $600 back or that it be fixed correctly.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT & OS X Server v10.5.

I just received and installed my NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT into a 1st Gen MacPro.
Works great in 10.5.2 Leopard but when I boot up to Leopard Server I get the grey restart screen!@#$
I put the old ATI video card back in and Server boots just fine!@##$
I tried the NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT in two other slots and pulled out some other cards for fun, but no boot$#%^^&*&
    Anybody else have this problem???
Calling Apple Tech Support now... I will post their answer soon.
    Cheers

Hello and welcome to the Apple Discussion boards!
Well, the honest answer is that it will work but I think that quite a few 'features' might not be convenient/functional to use if you travel with the laptop.
There is nothing that stops Server from being installed on it. If it is just that this is your 'desktop' machine and normally does not leave the network it is currently attached to, it would be more than adequate. In other words, 'Tinkering' will be fine for this setup, but any type of 'serious' serving might overwhelm the HD (it is 'smaller', lower rotational speed, possible long term effects of 24 hour uptime use et al) but everything else will work as intended.

  • Dual-head on NVIDIA

Hello, I'm trying to configure a dual-head setup (NVIDIA proprietary drivers). I've tried both Xinerama and Twinview, but the screen is always treated as one big virtual screen and window managers spread fullscreen windows over both monitors.
Here's what I've tried (they all resulted in the above):
    - # nvidia-xconfig
    - These instructions
    - # nvidia-xsettings

In addition, Xinerama seems to disable the randr extension, which makes me unable to use xrandr or arandr, so the preferred option is to use Twinview.
For clearance, when I open arandr, I see one big, wide screen called default. How do I set it up so that it shows 2 different screens?

Works fine at 1280X800 (with out without MDP DL DVI Adapter) - cannot get any higher resolution

    Hi ddickson01,
The MacBook Air 11 inch late-2010 model does support 2560 x 1600 resolution on an external display. See this specifications article for reference -

    Things to note:
I have been unable to update firmware on this computer for about a year now. Im not sure why.
I am running a bootleg copy of Windows XP on this computer, I would not like to spend $149 to get Windows 7 if possible.
any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Why don't you take your 'old' MBP into your local Apple Store and have them check out everything that's wrong with it - and I mean everything? Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

  • Can I run CC on Intel Pentium G2030 3.00GHz dual core. NVIDIA Geforce GT610 1GB graphics. Viglen Vig642M Motherboard?

Can I run CC on Intel Pentium G2030 3.00GHz dual core. NVIDIA Geforce GT610 1GB graphics. Viglen Vig642M Motherboard?
I also have 8GB RAM DDR3, 1TB HDD, Its on Windows 7, is that a problem with the allocated graphics card?
    P

    Thanks John,
I've done this, but couldn't gather clear information about whether the graphics card was suitable for Premiere CC? Using CPUbenchmark it seemed to me like it would be suitable. Its unlikely we would use After Effects CC but would be handy if it would work.
Also the G2030 dual core? Can you recommend how I find out if this would work, as the site states the requirement to be a Dual Core2... does this mean the software (Premiere CC, Photoshop CC, Indesign CC etc) would not work at all?
    Any guidance helpful.

  • A G5's NVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 64mb in a Dual G4 1.25

Hi i have an NVidia GeForce FX 5200 Ultra 64mb that is my back up card to my G5's NVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256mb, as it's not being used and as i got my lad a Dual G4 1.25 i was wondering will the FX 5200 work in the G4, as it's card though 64mb is Core Image: software and the FX 5200 is hardware.
    Thanks for your advice guys.

    Hi-
Exactly right- just tape the pins as per this article, and install.
    All good!

  • OS X 10.10.1 won't recognize the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT side of 9400m/9600m dual video card

My 15" mid 2009 MBP 2.8 ghz 8g ram won't recognize the NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT side of 9400m/9600m dual video card since upgrading to yosemite 1010.1   When I try to choose the better performance option I get black screen and a reboot loop.  Any ideas why or solutions as to how to make the better video  card work?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Dual 23'' with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT

I want to know if I can drive 2 23" inch displays on a Mac Pro 8 core with the stock NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT at full resolution or do I need to get a second card. My monitors are not the new ones with the aluminum finish, they are a generation or two behind, they are the ones that have the white plastic frame.
    Thanks

The card can drive two monitors. Only one can be 30". The two 23" will be fine, but you will need two DVI to ADC adapters if they are ADC (Apple Display Connector) models.

  • Dual monitors on nvidia geforce fx 5200

    Hi,
I'm using a nvidia geforce fx 5200 card that has vga out, dvi out, and svideo out. I have one crt hooked into the vga, the main monitor, and I have a dvi to vga converter, to enable a second vga, crt monitor. When I try to use the nvidia-settings, and enable twinview,  and I get this message:
    "failed to set metamode (1) 'CRT00: nvidia-auto-select @1024x768 + 1024+0, DFP-0: 1024x768 @1024x768 +0+0' (Mode 2048x768, id: 50) on X screen 0."
    any ideas? thanks.

Hm, Not working, just display on the true vga monitor. Are you using a dvi to vga connector as well? Heres my log output, I couldn't make too much of it, I tried to switch the CRT-1 to DFP-0 which didn't seem to do the trick either.
