Nvidia GeForce 7300 GT with dual link DVI connector..

With my old MD PowerMac G4 I ran a 23" Apple display and connected a Sony Bravia HD TV through the HDMI/DVI cable. I cannot physically connect both at the same time. Either one connector blocks the other from completely seating to the video card. It is like the ports are too close to each other.
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Thank you, you have enlighten me on the matter. There is a slight size difference and apparently just enough to make two connection on the Nvidia card.
Thanks again.

  • How do I get my Macbook Pro 15" to run dual monitor setup with Dual Link DVI outputs

I own have two 27" 2560x1440 WQHD LED IPS Computer monitors and have been trying to get them to work with my macbook pro 15" w retina for over a month now. I have purchased multiple products and nothing has worked. The big problem is that the only input that the monitors have is a Dual Link DVI input. The closest that i have gotten to getting them to work was this morning when I bought 2 Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI Adapters for $99 a peice. Below is a link
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB571Z/A/mini-displayport-to-dual-link-dvi-ada pter?afid=p219%7CGOUS&cid=AOS-US-KWG-PLA
Problem is that when I hook them up, I still only get a picture on one of the screens. Also, it requires you to plug into a mini Display port and USB port which takes up all of the space for me to run any othe peripherals. Though it has a built in USB port, when I plug my apple keybaord into it, I get an saying "USB Device Needs power, connect "keyboard Hub" to power or usb port on this mac"
I have looked everywhere for a docking station that would satisfy my needs, however, it does not exist. I use my macbook as my main office computer and take it home with me every night. I switched from the lenovo thinkpad to the macbook and have been satsified with my decision except for the fact that i cannot connect my monitors to it.
    Please help!

Yes, that would work, however it would cost me $2000 for the monitors.

  • Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter: No image with 3840x1200

    Hi!
I ordered the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter regardless of the many complaints that it's not working in order to connect my new MacBook Pro to my Matrox TripleHead2Go. This Graphics Expansion Module normally allows to use two 1920x1200 monitors when connected to Dual-Link DVI (3840x1200). It works fine on my old MacBook Pro (with Dual-Link DVI output), but with my new MacBook Pro the first monitor just turns black and the second tells "Out of Range" when using the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI adapter.
When I am reducing the resolution to 3360x1050 (2x1680x1050) it works, but this is not the native resolution of my two 24'' monitors and therefore is useless.
The Matrox Support only told me that the new MacBook Pro with Mini Display Port is not supported, but as it's working for 2x1680x1050 with the Dual-Link DVI adapter, I was wondering if the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter could be the problem.
    Any input welcome.
    Thank you in advance.
    Cheers,
    Matthias

Hi, Matt, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
The Matrox Support only told me that the new MacBook Pro with Mini Display Port is not supported, but as it's working for 2x1680x1050 with the Dual-Link DVI adapter, I was wondering if the Mini Display Port to Dual-Link DVI Adapter could be the problem.
I suspect that what Matrox Support meant when they said "not supported" was, in fact, "not supported": i.e., they've tried it and it doesn't work satisfactorily. You've tried it too, and found that to be true. Now you just need to come to terms with the fact. Matrox is quite open about it; it's not a secret. See the 9400M/9600MGT MacBook Pro entry in this compatibility table from Matrox's web site:

But Today I connect the Dell 3008 to my new iMAC using Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter...They could not work properly...
The dell shows images in red with flickers....
I've contacted the phone for help...and they said nothing could be done????!!!!!

I had made calls to Apple technical support center in HONG KONG for help...
To my surprise...they even did not understand what I was saying(Or just pretending...)....One interesting guy said I could take the new iMAC back to service center to change the 4850 display card to older version...or call DELL for help!!!!!

I was almost hopeless until I found a minidisplay port to display port cable in Circuit Assembly:
    http://estore.circuitassembly.com/products/Mini-Displayport-to-Displayport-Adapt er-Cable.html
    ONLY $14.95 !!
They sent the cable to me in 3 days time...and I hooked it up right away when I received it today...my Dell 3008 could display 2560 x 1600 normally again!!!!!
The problem is: Apple is still selling its FUNCTIONLESS Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter at high costing....sounds like cheating others....

  • ATI 9600 Pro Mac & PC Ed. - Which is the Dual Link DVI Port?

I just bought an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro Mac & PC edition Video Card:

This card features 2 DVI ports - one of them dual link.

There is a small "1" stamped in the sheet metal next to the single link DVI connector, and a small "2" next to the dual link DVI connector. The single link is closer to the motherboard.
There should be a PDF Users Guide on the Mac CD that came with the board. Page 17 shows the connectors.

  • Dual 23'' with NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT

I want to know if I can drive 2 23" inch displays on a Mac Pro 8 core with the stock NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT at full resolution or do I need to get a second card. My monitors are not the new ones with the aluminum finish, they are a generation or two behind, they are the ones that have the white plastic frame.
    Thanks

The card can drive two monitors. Only one can be 30". The two 23" will be fine, but you will need two DVI to ADC adapters if they are ADC (Apple Display Connector) models.

  • Trouble Playing DVDs with Mini DisplayPort To Dual-Link DVI Adapter ?

So I went and bought the Mini DisplayPort To Dual-Link DVI Adapter for my 30" Cinema display to connect to my MacBook Pro.
I open up Apple's DVD player and the screen is blank but I can still hear audio.
If I unplug the display, the movie will display properly. Rebooting with the display plugged in doesn't help either. I also deleted all the DVD players enc setting files so that they would re-initialize but no luck.
Any idea what this problem might be??

You've probably fallen into the nasty pothole created by the advent of HDCP compliant graphics on Apple computers and a mishmash of older and newer Apple gear that does/does not support HDCP.
Ironically, if you were using an older Mac notebook (prior to late 2008), everything would play just fine because HDCP wouldn't come into play anywhere.
That is my guess as to what is happening.

  • Macbook Pro with Retina wont detect monitor on mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter

So after reading Jeff Atwood's post, I decided to jump and give it a shot. So this week I got my monitor in from Korea, and I already had my Apple mini display port to dual-link dvi adapter, hooked everything up - and nothing. Monitor doesnt show a signal, and no display shows up in user preferences.
To verify the monitor actually works, i plugged it into my windows box - and boom, right away there it is in all its glory. So I called apple support, after spending about an hour going through the "are you sure its plugged in stuff", the tech finally admitted to being stumped and blamed the adapter. Not to be deterred, I then went to my local apple store and talked them into trying their adapter to rule out the adapter - regardless of the adapter, the mbp wont detect the monitor.
Just for fun, i tried my old single mini displayport to single dvi, the monitor is recognized, but that obviously cant drive the right resolution, so i just get a backlight. Same deal when i try the hdmi port with a hdmi to dual-link dvi adapter on the end of it. Also tried display port to the same hdmi with adapter on it (the joys of working in a dev shop - cables to test everywhere)
I have read / tried a ton of things:
re-installed / uninstalled air display, just to be sure it was gone. went through all my apps just to see if there is anything like this i could think would be effecting it
install gfxCardStatus to ensure i am on the nvidia (discrete) and not the internal card
Played with different settings on SwitchResX to try to force the res over hdmi - no love - os rejected each one
I bought the monoprice adapter wondering if it was just the apple adapter since the apple adapter has been panned, no love from it either
    Reset the PRAM countless times
I have two other adapters coming in to test with in a day or two - maybe one of those will be magic, but at this point i kinda think its software on the mac. My Spec:
I am running Mountain Lion with all the latest updates
New MBP with Retina (2.6g processor, 16gig ram, nvidia video card)
Here is the ebay link to the monitor
Now the other weird thing is pretty much universally these auctions say the monitors cant be run on a laptop - which makes no sense to me, because its just a connection, if the video card is strong enough (which my machine better be) it shouldnt matter the source. The listing mentions its a "by-pass" monitor, which is something I and google have never heard of.
So any sage words to make my day?

Magic was, I have to have the adpter plugged into the mac, let it recognize all with the monitor powered off.
then power on the monitor, and boom gloriousness
For future generations, setup that works:
    1) MacBook Pro with Retina
    2) Monitor From Korea (example auction)
    3) Accell Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Active adapter (amazon)
    4) Boot mac, plug in adapter, let it recognize the monitor, power on monitor

  • 30'' Cinema Display with mini-display-port to dual link DVI adapter usb hub

Hi all, I don't know if any one of you experience this issue and can help me.
I am using an unibody macbook pro (late2008 model) to connect to a 30'' cinema display via the famous $100 mini diaplay port to dual link DVI adapter. I have connected the usb cable from the ACD to the adapter and the usb cable of the adapter to my macbook pro. This setting works fine under OSX 10.5.7.
When I am using Windows Vista under bootcamp the USB hub on the back of the ACD doesn't work. The device manager of Vista shows an excalmatory mark besides the device "Generic usb hub"; and it reports a problem of "the device cannot be started".
I doubted this problem is due to Windows cannot recognise the $100 adapter as a "generic usb hub"; and apple has not release a driver for this $100 adapter for windows.
Since my MBP only has 2 usb ports and the $100 adapter already occupied one, it would be very much helpful if the usb hub of the ACD can work just like in OSX. Can anyone think of any suggestion?
Much appreciated for reading this post and thank you.

i don't have an answer for you, but i feel your pain. very frustrating when this happens with Apple products and Vista/Bootcamp. wish they were more compatible, for it would make things so much easier for the consumer.

  • HT204149 What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter?

What is the maximum resolution available for use with the Apple Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter?

    Hey guys,
I found out an answer by myself...
The missing link : the MacBook Pro needs to be powered... as in you need to plug the charger in...
In conclusion, you simply plug everything, turn on the MacBook Pro, close the lid, and there you go !

  • Will the old 23" ACD work with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapte

Will the old 23" ACD work with the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter and the new MacBook Pro?

I'm not so sure about that. I'd say the jury's still out until someone gets one and tries to use it single-link.

  • Problems with 3D Hardware acceleration on nVidia geForce 7300

I have a system with a Core 2 Duo CPU and a nVidia geForce 7300 graphic card. I am trying to run a 3D robotics simulation program (Webots 7.0.3) and its performance is abysmal. I never had graphic performance issues before---but then again, I never tried to run this particularly intensive simulation software. Other simulation software compiled from source (e.g. player/stage ) runs smoothly.
Where can I start to look to find out where the problem is?
Here is what I've been able to find out so far:
    1. Hardware acceleration seems to be enabled:
    [stefano@polus]$ glxinfo | grep -n5 "direct rendering"
    1-name of display: :0
    2-display: :0 screen: 0
    3:direct rendering: Yes
4-server glx vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation
    5-server glx version string: 1.4
    6-server glx extensions:
    7- GLX_EXT_visual_info, GLX_EXT_visual_rating, GLX_SGIX_fbconfig,
    8- GLX_SGIX_pbuffer, GLX_SGI_video_sync, GLX_SGI_swap_control,
    2. glxgears reports very poor performance: about 60FPS. The software manufacterer says their product needs around 2000FPS to run smoothly
    [stefano@polus]$ glxgears
Running synchronized to the vertical refresh.  The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
    301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.157 FPS
    299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.781 FPS
    3. The software (i.e. Webots) is proprietary, and their linux version is built against libjpeg version 6.2. Archlinux currently runs libjpeg 8, so I had to manually install the older version.
    4. The software runs satisfactorily on my Kubuntu laptop, an old Lenovo T61 which has similar (or similarly aged) hardware. In other words, the CPU seems to be adequate and the prolem lies with the graphic setup in my Archlinux system, I believe.
    5. I read the nvidia pages on the Arch website, the nvidia-linux pages and the Xorg pages on how to set up xorg.conf. It did not help.
Some info on my system are appended below.
    Any hint greatly appreciated.

    301 frames in 5.0 seconds = 60.157 FPS
Why you get 60FPS? you have your answer there.
I noticed that and was wondering about it. I am not familiar with glxgear at all and I am not sure about the exact meaning of the statement about framerate. But one of the developers of the software I am trying to run sent me this glxgear output, obtained on a recent Ubuntu system running under VMWare (on a Windows host, I presume):
    $ glxgears
    11030 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2205.791 FPS
    11492 frames in 5.0 seconds = 2298.289 FPS
What gives? Are they running a different version of glxgears or is there some hidden switch in glxgears that unties it from monitor refresh rate and makes it work as a benchmark tool  (man glxgears did not report any)?

  • Jittery mouse with SINGLE link DVI adaptor!! Not Dual-link

    Hello All,
I've found the Dual-link DVI adapter threads regarding this known issue but I'm now experiencing this with _not just one but 2 Single Link DVI_ adapters and my 24" Benq display.
I bought these 2 adapters the day I bought my laptop (mid-december) and was using one non stop for several months without a single issue and 2 days ago, suddenly my mouse is constantly jumping when connected to an external monitor. A reboot will not alleviate the problem, only when I disconnect the mini dp to DVI adapter does the mouse start behaving correctly. It happened before and after I upgraded to the new iTunes 8.1 and iLife support update. Everything else is up to date on my system...
    I've tried:
    -Zap Pram
-Remove all USB devices but mouse/keyboard
    -Many many reboots
-Switched from performance to better battery mode on the display settings
-Uninstalled completely (and properly) iStat menu
    -Using 3 different mice
-Used a brand new mini-dp to single link DVI that I had purchased for my laptop bag and never used
So I'm back to using my laptop screen in front of a dark 24" monitor since I can't really work efficiently with a constantly jumping mouse. I've not seen anyone else experiencing this on a single link adapter... Anybody else???
    Thanks!

I have found a possible solution to your issues. It worked for me. I am using the midi Display to DVI.
My issue was that I started getting the mouse and video lag when the external monitor was plugged in. I had no issues in the past, it just started to happen. I thought it was a XP update so when I booted back to XP there was no lag. It was strange. I had called support and they cleared my memory but that didn't work. So when they told me it was hardware issues I didn't really believe it. Especially when it was working ok in XP but not in OSX.
So to make a long enough story short, the thread I found suggested to plug your monitor in another location than the Mac is plugged into. Like a surge bar. I had both plugged into a surge protector so I plugged the monitor directly in the wall and what do you know, the lag issues stopped.
Sounds strange but why it work, Who the frak knows. I am just glad it fixed this issue. Was driving me nuts.

I cannot get FCEHD to recognize my camera, JVC GR HD1U, though it works with other video import programs (iMovie HD) I have a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT card, and it isn't listed as compatible. Is this a different problem or is it causing my difficulty?

Start by trashing your preferences. Which version of FCE? Use the rear FW port. What drives? How's everything connected? What settings on the media? What settings in FCE?
    The graphics card's not relevant.
