Nvidia GeForce 8600GT driver downloads

Hey guys,
Im trying to update my graphics card (nvidia GeForce 8600GT) in my Macbook Pro. I can't seem to find any driver downloads for mac, only for PC.
It is most aggravating because I can't play my new copy of Sims 3 properly without updating the graphics drivers.
When searching for new drivers I keep getting results for windows drivers for people running windows on their mac and not just Mac OSX.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance,
Westy

Westy,
OS X graphics drivers are updated along with OS X. You will not find stand-alone drivers. If you need the latest OS X drivers for your machine/GPU, update to 10.5.7. If you do, or you are already running 10.5.7, you have the latest drivers.
If you are having a problem with a game, contact the game's developer, or search their support site for solutions/patches.

  • Nvidia Geforce 650m driver problem for windows 8.1 on macbook pro

Hey guys. I installed windows 8.1 on my macbook pro (mid2012, Intel core i7, retina, Geforce 650m) of course only for game, but I have a disappointing problem with the graphics driver. First I tried to instal graphics card driver by bootcamp (not the last version, the one before the last) .It started to install drivers one by one starting with graphics card, but suddenly the screen got black and remained black forever! I restarted the windows and guess what! after windows logo it got black and nothing more! Then I installed windows again and tried to install driver from windows update. It checked for update and found the driver for it and downloaded it and started to install, but again the black screen !!! Please help me thanks.

no this does not work. bootcamp drivers are broken for windows 8.1 on an efi install. apple is withholding the discreet gpu drivers from microsoft to trick people into thinking osx is more stable/efficient and thus windows cannot detect which gpu it is supposed to use when it can see both. the discreet gpu is hidden in the fake bios setup that bootcamp wants you to install with. the problem with doing this is that the more powerful gpu is all you can use in windows so the computer runs more hot and is louder which is annoying and hard on the battery life.
thanks apple, if i knew that when i bought the laptop i would have gone with something else.
This is not correct. If you force an EFI installation on a preUEFI Mac, you will see GPU and Audio errors. A non-EFI Hybrid MBR installation works correctly. Does Windows have the ability to switch GPUs? OS X, using external monitors, uses the non-Intel discreet GPU and the machine does not run hot. If Windows can provide dual-GPU support (which they have) and also provide GPU-switching (missing), this can be done. Can it be done for older hardware, highly unlikely. MacRumors has threads with PCI Register changes to expose the Intel GPU and the machine still runs hotter.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 9400M Driver update issue

After entering the information in the NVIDIA driver search, I'm being told that the latest driver is the "Quadro Mac OS X Driver Release 256". However, after downloading it and trying to install the driver I keep getting an error that says "this computer will not support this NVIDIA graphics solution".
I've installed the latest CUDA drivers beforehand like it says, and that has worked out fine. Not sure what I'm missing with this though.

I'm getting the driver from the official NVIDIA website.
That is the problem. The only place to download any type of updates for a Mac are from Software Update, otherwise you will run into issues such as the one you just experienced. I'm guessing you may have come from the Windows world where it's regular practice to have to go searching for new drivers, with OS X you no longer have to do this. Run Software Update and if it finds updates for your machine install them. You can also set Software Update to check on a regular basis in System Preferences - Software Update.

  • Ideapad E570 nVidia GeForce GT630M driver problem under Windows7

    Hi Folks!
I'm using the above mentioned notebook with Windows7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit. I tried to use the GeForce card with the latest dirver (8.17.12.8590) found on Lenovo's support site. Even if I tried to access the 3D settings in nVidia control panel (it should to display the rotating 3D nVidia logo), Windows will occur a "blue death" (exeption error). Same situation when I try to run a 3D applicaton like 3DMark...
The situation is same with the latest driver from nVidia.
Please, give me an idea how to fix this.
    Cheers!

  • Upgraded nVidia GeForce 8800GTS Driver--Premiere Runs Slow Now

For four years, I was running the same nVidia driver and Premiere and other apps ran fine.
Recently though, a project I'm working on for a client required me to add some new fonts to my workstations. Adding these fonts, or any fonts at all, would work fine until the next reboot, at which point Windows XP would just BSOD with a fault in win32k.sys. A partition restore was necessary to bring back useful system.
After some research, it was suggested that I update the video driver. I did this, installing the current 285.58 version after uninstalling the old version, rebooting, then doing a clean installation. That solved the font problem--I can install fonts and reboot and the system comes up fine. But there's a new problem: GUI acceleration is disabled in Adobe and Quark applications.. The GUI takes several seconds to paint the screen now, and I cannot play video in Premiere anymore without severe sluggishness and dropping of most of the frames. Even QuarkXpress 8 is unusable, taking 6 seconds to paint just the rulers around a page! Any time I move something, the system refuses to accept input and the mouse pointer freezes and stutters for several seconds until the screen is done repainting.
I haven't seen these sort of problems since 1990, when I had my Diamond Speedstar VGA card on ISA 8-bit bus.
Does anyone know of a fix for this problem, or what is the most recent Adobe approved nVidia 8800 driver version? I can't work like this. But I can't install the fonts my client needs when the old driver is installed because of the BSOD after rebooting.

    Mark,
Though I have personally not had issues with new drivers, I always try to keep a few nVidia drivers tucked away, just in case. However, and from time to time, others have hit upon "bad" drivers, and either a roll-back, or patience, until a new "good" driver is released, has helped them.
I also do not update my nVidia drivers all that often, and usually only when I begin experiencing a problem.
Good luck, and that BSOD is scary. While most BSOD's are hardware related, a system driver certainly CAN cause them too. On my workstation, all that I can recall HAVE been triggered by drivers, and most of those for something like a Maxtor external. I do not use their "one-button backup" function, but the drivers for that do get installed, and sometimes act up. I suppose that was once a good idea, but has bitten me a few times in the past.
Good luck, and wish that I had something that would help you. Please report how things go.

  • NVIDIA GEFORCE GT330M driver needed!

Hi guys, i just bought a new macbook pro 15" i7. I swapped my HD from the 17" to the new 15" i just figured out that i dont have the driver for the 15" for the new graphic card hence i cant get it to work. I left the CD at my home country and will be a while before i comes back. How do i obtain the driver for the GT330M? thanks!

Swapping the hard drive from an older computer into a newer one without reinstalling anything on it seems like it would be a good way to save time and trouble. But it isn't, as you now know. Chances are good that the GT330M isn't the only hardware feature of your new machine that's not working as it's supposed to, and you just haven't yet noticed the others.

  • Satellite Pro A100 (PSAAPE) - Display Driver download

Hey I uninstalled my nVidia drivers by accident. I thought my laptop didn't have an nVidia card so I uninstalled them. Apparently it needs them. I went to the nVidia site and using it's new beta Graphics driver scanner it determined I needed an nVidia GeForce Go driver but it was unable to supply it. I searched the support sites for both nVidia and Toshiba furiously for the last hour but I've come up dry.
Could someone please find a download of this driver? I can't find it anywhere. I'd really appreciate this as I can't even watch a youtube video on the laptop now since the display drivers are gone. I have no backup or shadow copies because I only have 20GBs of HD space and I needed to conserve it. There's now way I can roll-back now.
    Please help someone.

    Hello
Can you please send us the exact notebook model number (A100-xxx) and also the whole part number (PSAAPE-xxx)?
It seems to be that some models are delivered with Intel graphic card. I just want to try to check hardware components on your notebook.

  • Where can I find a NVDIA GeForce 9400 driver upgrade?

imac9.1 is continually crashing. The problem report is indicating it is in "com.apple.GeForce(5.4.8)".
I assume what I need is to upgrade the NVIDIA GeForce 9400 driver, but I can't find it anywhere,
not even on the official NVIDIA site.  Anybody know ehre I can find it?

Hi, we're stuck with what Apple gives us in the OS, before reinstalling 10.5, try reinstalling the big 10.5.8 combo.
    Repair Permissions afterwords, reboot.
    1058 Combo Update, 10.5.8...
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/Mac_OS_X_10_5_8_Combo_Update
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
    Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

  • MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI driver problem

Hi.. I really need your help guys..
First of all, I have Windows XP Pro.
Okay, I have this MSI nVidia GeForce 4200 TI card, and wanted to change drivers.
I had 50.xx, and wanted to change back to 40.xx, because it works better with Counter-Strike.
So, I went into Device Manager and went into the video card properties -> driver.
I pressed the 'Uninstall driver', because you need to uninstall the newer driver if you want to install an older driver.
Then my computer restarted, and when it was booting, a blue screen or something came up, with text about my computer was deleting and scanning some files(?).
I don't know what it was uninstalling excatly, but when I got into Windows I had to use a 'VGA driver' or something..
I tried to install the 40.xx driver, double clicked the Setup.exe but when it was begining to install this error came up: 'An error occured while launching the setup. (0x80040702)'.
I don't know what it means, but I can't install any drivers for nVidia?!
I tried the Device manager, and I can't update the 'VGA' ..
It's like my computer isn't recognizing the card or something.. I've tried 'Add new hardware' and everything.
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance.
    P.S. My PC specs:
    Intel Pentium4 2.0GHz
    Some IBM mainboard
    512DDR
    GeForce 4200 TI
    Windows XP Pro

Generally for nVidia drivers for the VGA, is what I explained above by going to Add Remove programs in control panel and look for the entry for nVidia display drivers.
Since you are asking me this, I fear you may not be at the experience level required to do this as it can be somewhat of a nightmare if all the drivers are not removed completely. This is what you just experienced.
Look at the top of this forum and you will se an Important thread called driver cleaner, by Bonz and then the one above it by me. Go to the DriverHeaven Website and download the DC utility but make sure you read EVERYTHING and understand it before you proceed. If you are confused or not comfortable, then I suggest finding someone that is experienced enough to do it for you.
    It should be pretty straightforward.
    Good luck

  • Nvidia Geforce 8600M GT Driver for Vista

    Hi mac-world!
I'm using BootCamp to start Windows Vista on my Mac Book Pro. I recently bought a seperate TFT-Display from Belinea, which I connect to my Mac Book via DVI. This isn't a Problem while using MacOS, but in Vista I can't adjust the resolution of the seperate Display to more than 1024x768 px. I already installed the Belinea Driver, but that doesn't solve the problem.
I am wondering, if I maybe need a driver update for the grafic-card. Unfortunately, Nvidia doesn't provide a driver download, but says, I need to contact my Laptop-Vendor for this issue. I didn't find a driver-download section on this page. Does someone know a solution? Where do I get the new driver?
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    Thorsten

In my case after going through normal Shut Down procedures, I
noted that after I go through normal shut-down-from-Windows, the machine does not power off. I can only turn off the machine by pressing the power switch for a few seconds.
    When I do not press this switch, Windows restarts after about ten minutes;
after, however, I receive a brief report (which I never manage to read in full)
informing me that a software may not have been properly installed or that I
    need a windows update.
This problem appeared long after I installed all the software that I use,
and I have checked whether I'm fully updated (I am).
Lately when I start-up after experiencing this problem, Windows indicates
that the problem is caused by an NVIDIA graphics driver and suggests that I
check for a driver update. I have tried the NVIDIA Website but there was no
reference to the graphics card installed in my machine, namely GeForce 8600M
GT - I only found a driver for GeForce 8700M GT.
I have since solved the problem as rerported in http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1492731&tstart=0
However, I stll wonder why there is no reference to 8600 in the NVIDIA site.

  • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT driver for Vista x64

    Hello,
I have an issue with my new MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz 17" that was released on the 5th of June, 2007.
It has NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT installed on it and I simply cannot find Vista 64 bit drivers for it.
I have tried the latest beta Vista x64 drivers (163.11) downloaded from nVidia's official website. I have tried several previous versions including 100.97 one, which contains drivers for 8600M GT model. But they don't work with me. All the driver installation programs allert the following error and quit:
'The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit'.
I also tried Vista 32-bit drivers for 8600M GT. The driver installation program claims the operation system is wrong and quits.
    Anybody has the same issue?
Does a working driver of nVidia GeForce 8600M GT for Vista x64 exist at all?
MacBook Pro 2.4Ghz   Windows Vista   nVidia GeForce 8600M GT

There was one Apple's presentstion where they boot into Windows Vista. So if you claim you can do it why do you forget about Vista x64 customers? I reckon it is because of Leopard that is coming. But it's not an excuse.
I'm currently working in Vista x64 and everything is fine except one thing, I cannot find a working graphics card driver and it is manufacturer's responsibility to provide it. Apple knew there going to be customers who will install Vista x64 on their computers and they at Apple didn't care about it because I guess it's a lame war between you know who.
So why you don't make everything perfect to attract even more Windows customers but instead you hint that you don't care about Vista x64 as you are getting your own 64-bit OS soon. So now they are forcing me to wait having been announced that I can use Vista. But isn't that kind of lame that it's slightly tardy? Why I should wait for Leopard launch if I was insured that Windows will work on my Macbook Pro? Because Apple claim you can run Windows. And don't say it's not official. Who else if not Apple made it possible to run Windows on Mac.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to insult you. I'm just angry that I cannot find a working driver.

  • What is the current driver for an nvidia geforce 9800gt gpu please?

    hello
in my pursuit of installing the trial of cs6
i have fired up another desktop computer
    win7 64bit // 8gb of ram // 4 x 7200rpm hdd
it has an nvidia geforce 9800gt  (it is a LEGACY card)
(but it doesn't look like the one on the nvidia website with dual dvi
this one has 1 hdmi, 1 dvi, 1 standard monitor)
    it has 1gb ddr3 memory
installed, the gpu driver is 8.17.12.6658(1/7/2011) (according to gpu caps viewer)
when i check on nvidia's website it says the current driver is this
    320.18 whql (release date may 20, 2013)
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-320.18-whql-driver.html
    http://www.nvidia.com/object/win8-win7-winvista-64bit-320.18-whql-driver.html
can someone please confirm i'm in the right place if it's not too much trouble
the gpu seems to be working spot on, but i'd like to have the driver on file
    in case anything goes wrong
i'm not one to update unless something is broken or amiss or i need new features
    thanks in advance, j

If that is what nVidia indicates, I don't think anyone here will know something that nVidia doesn't know
I would download the driver to your chosen hard drive folder, if you wish
I also COMPLETELY agree to NOT fix something that is working !!!

  • Photoshop CC not detect nVidia GeForce GTX 680 after driver upgrade (Windows 8 64-bit)

i just upgraded the driver for my nVidia GeForce 680 graphics card from the nVidia website. the specifications are shown below.  Photoshop CC now says that it can't detect my graphics card. does anyone know the solution to this problem?
    nVidia verstion 327.23 WHQL
    release date: Sept 9, 2013
    operating system: windows 8 64-bit
will adobe have to issue an update to photoshop CC to fix the problem?

    hey chris,
thx for relplying. i appreciat it. here is what happened. i did an update through microsoft and downloaded a driver for nVidia. somehow that download caused PS CC to stop recognizing my GTX 680. i'm not sure why. subsequent to that, i went to nVidia's website and downloaded the current driver. i still found that PS CC didn't "see" my graphics card. that is when i wrote this post. after i posted this i rebooted my computer and found that everything now works fine. PS CC now recognizes my GeForce GTX 680 with no problems.

  • Gaming: driver update for NVIDIA GeForce - Sat P20

i am not able to run an driver update for my NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 on Satellite p20-521. can someone help me out please.

    Hi Cuong
I assume you use a wrong graphic driver or a wrong graphic card driver update procedure.
Toshiba recommend to use the own graphic drivers. The all drivers for European Toshiba notebooks you will find on this website:
    http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
After successfully downloading please unpack the driver. There you should find a setup.exe. Please install it.
Well, if this procedure doesnt work so please go to device manager and select the graphic card and right click. Then you can select the option update driver. The driver source is the driver download place.
