  • MSI GTX 560 TI Hawk Unstable?

I have a brand new custom built PC with two MSI 560 TI Hawk cards in SLI and I have a problem with playing games on this system. I've tried Portal 2, Far Cry 2, Two Worlds 2 and The Witcher 2. All games seem unstable with comparable problems:
Random lock-ups for 10-20 seconds with audio looping
Random small jitters, frame drops and stutters, including audio stutters
Sometimes my whole system freezes so I have to push the reset button
    Artifacts
Flickering parts of the horizon, sky or ground in the game
Sometimes the game runs fine for a few minutes and then the problems start happening, sometimes they are there from the beginning.
I tried to eliminate possible causes one by one to narrow out the actual problem. Even disabling SLI and running on a single card doesn't help.
Here are the things I tried:
Monitor GPU temperatures with GPU-Z: didn't show anything unusual, around 35 degrees idle to 65-70 degrees stressed
Disable SLI: didn't fix the problem
Download MSI drivers v266.44 (older version than current NVidia drivers): didn't fix it and I couldn't find the SLI option in these drivers so i switched back to v280.26
Check driver and firmware version with MSI Live Update 5: everything seemed to be up to date
Remove graphics cards: cleaning the connections and re-installing, didn't fix it
Stress the cards with FurMark: no issues detected and temperatures seemed normal (70 degrees stressed)
Lower the stock clock speed (950 Mhz) to the standard non-overclocked speed (822 Mhz): this seemed to help at first and the problems didn't occur for a while. But while i'm testing right now Portal 2 froze and stuttered a few times again. Although it seems like it happens less often. So this might be a clue to my problem. Anyway I didn't pay extra money for these overclocked cards to underclock them back to standard so I would like to make the cards run on stock settings (950 Mhz).
    Here are my system specifications:
Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4 Ghz (stock speed)
    Mainboard: Asus P8Z68 V-Pro
    Memory: 2x Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 CL9 12800 Mhz
    SSD: Crucial M4 256GB SSD
HDD: 2x WD Caviar Blue - Raid 0
Graphics: NVidia Geforce GTX 560 TI Hawk 1GB SLI
    PSU: Corsair TX750 V2 (750 watt)
I hope you can help me to fix this issue because I'm out of ideas right now....
    Thanks in advance
    Tandpastatester

Well I've tried some more things but it's all still very weird and not helping at all   I will explain my findings in the order i tested the cards this time, after every card-switch i did a clean re-install of the VGA drivers:
    Card-2
I've ran the OCCT test for one hour on card-2, i got zero errors and temperature never went above 76 degrees with a fan speed around 68%. After this i tried testing some games again and I found out there were still problems regardless of me saying that card-2 did fine before. In Portal 2 I was leaving the game on for a while and after a few minutes it froze with audio looping. I found out that when I use ctrl+alt+del to go to the task manager and then go back to the game it recovered and I could continue playing (weird??!). The same thing happened with The Witcher 2, freezing with audio loop and going to task manager and back let me continue playing. This happened every few minutes.
    Card-1
Now it was time to try card-1 again. This time this card didn't seem to have the frequency problems I mentioned before but the problems didn't go away. Portal 2 let the game freeze within a minute, and I could use the same strategy (task manager) to continue, but this time after a few seconds it would freeze again and again. The same happened with The Witcher 2. Then I tried Far Cry 2 and this game had the same flickering problems as with card-2 but a lot worse... it was almost everywhere. Even sometimes the flickering had a checkerboard kind of shape. Now I ran the OCCT test with this card and there were no problems. Another strange thing was that when I was looking at the graph after the test, the temperature was much lower (65 degrees) and the graph line of the framerate was very straight (stable) along the test. This was different than with card 2 where the framerate and temp were higher and not so stable.
After all it appears i have comparable problems with both cards, only with card-1 they are much worse.

  • PSU for MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti HAWK in SLI ?

Do you know what psu should i get for 2 MSI GeForce GTX 560 Ti HAWK?

Depends what other components your system consists of. >>Posting Guide<<
But here is the link to the recommended PSU for such a combo. https://forum-en.msi.com/faq/article/power-requirements-for-graphics-cards
A 42A PSU is suggested. Thus a Corsair TX650 will suffice but to leave you with additional overhead you could opt for a Corsair TX750. The Corsair PSUs have single 12V rails which are recommended and have an above average reliability and build quality.

  • Nvidia GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr driver hanging.. even after fresh OS install

    Dear,
    Sorry for my english
I'm facing issue with my Nvidia GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr II, and I saw other do have...
    My config :
When using windows, or games (I'm Crysis addicted ) I get a screen freeze, a blank (black) screen and after seconds a video driver message saying that it recovers the display as it were not responding anymore....
It happens without reason to me and temperature isn't related as it happen even with a temp of 45°c....
    I've tried :
    Updating driver, downgrading them,
    Re installing Windows (x64),
Updating motherboard Bios (P55a-UD3R Gigabyte with latest bios version)
Flashing my OCZ Vertex 3 SSD (a pain ....)
Upgrading my power supply to a Corsair 750GS
    Nothing corrects the problem.
At last I 'm looking to upgrade video bios but I don't want to brick my precious video card...
So I'm requesting your help to use "THE" good file version of video bios using  NVFlash 5.118 for Windows for example.
Overclocking isn't my goal, stability is...
Thanks a lot for your help... as I ain't find video bios file on MSI support site....

    You are lightning fast !!
    880 -> 822
    1050 -> 2000
I sure have done an error here !!
Modification will be done as soon as I get close to my Crysis PC... (ETA 18h00 GMT+1  )
    880 -> 822 won't be noticable
    1050 -> 2000 will result in a massive perf improvement ??

    I believe it's all wrong...

  • Fixing temps issues GTX 560 TI HAWK

    1) make a good air flow for the VGA, putting air from the ground, ejecting up the hot air, put a fan in the middle of the card( case )
    2) download AFTERBURNER 2.1.0, NOT THE BETA
    and set this values
    1025 CORE TEMP
    880 clock speed
    2100 ram speed
check with AIDA 64 the GPU AMBIENT ( RAM TEMP OF THE CARD ) and check the voltages.
please, if somebody have this problem with the GTX 560 TI HAWK, try do this, in my computer i found a bug with the voltages in the beta afterburner
5 weeks ago i buy this card, and my problem with this card is the temp, so changin this values, i found a stable configuration to my card, now iam having a max temp of 68º with 20 city ambient temp, and 71º ( average 69) with 30º of city ambient.
please, only use afterburner 2.1.0, if u use the beta, check the voltage value in the AIDA64 if is the same of default clock, the beta is working bad
    good luck
PD: for more info, see my threads and posts, all my history with this card is there, and gonna help more of one.

oh, and another tip to fix the IDLE temps
if u have a two monitors the VGA gonna work with high clock, and without power saving mode, if u use one monitor, u gonna see a temps of 28/32º
if u wanna a fast fix to the air flow case to check the temps, u can use a big fan

  • RMA question gtx 560 ti HAWK

if the card, can work with the default clocks ( high temps ) i should rma the card? for example at 1025 core voltage i have to use the clock at 880 and not the default 950, if i put in 1062 with 880 core clock or 950 core clock, i have high temps in memory temp ( 100+) and gpu temp (80+ in 3 minutes )
and fan coolers at 80+ in SILENT mode

Quote from: Svet on 23-December-11, 02:19:13
switch to Peformance BIOS, also open PC case side door and retest
i tested that without side door even out of case and no major difference in temperatures!and also performance bios didnt help here is my furmark test with open side cover (80 in 6 mins ~5000 RPM):
i tested mafia 2 and almost same old results
as i said before reseller warranty company tested (out of case) and reached 80!with 100% fan~4400 RPM!obvious high temp and noisy for HAWK right?i really dont think its about air flow or ambient temp!
so could you please admit that this high temp and noisy Fan(+ that weird memory temp) is a problem and i can replace my VGA with new one with normal temperatures like this :
    http://www.guru3d.com/article/msi-geforce-gtx-560-ti-hawk-review/8
then according to you i send back the VGA for replacement and if you say 80-90 is normal for a gtx 560 Ti HAWK and wont be any problem so my bad !
    thank you Svet

  • Nvidia GTX 560 Ti support

Hello. I'll be buying a new PC. One important aspect of the new configuration for me is the support for linux. The hardware that I think most linux folks have problem with is the graphics card. I want you to give me your opinion on Nvidia GTX 560 Ti. How well does it perform on linux and are there any significant problems that I may encounter should I decide to buy it?

I have one, it has had a couple of issues with the open-source (nouveau) drivers in the past year which prevented booting for several kernel releases. If you use the propriety blob, you'll probably be okay.
    Plays TF2 on Linux flawlessly.

  • I have an Nvidia GTX 560, yet 310.19 wont work

Irritated and baffled by this. This page clearly states that my GTX 560 is supported by 310.19 (as it should...this card isn't that old), yet after installing the new driver and rebooting, Xorg fails to start, and error logs say that the Nvidia kernel module couldn't be initialized.

Which driver to use with msi 560 ti hawk currently using 275.33 but after installing battlefield 3 the game freezes in just 5 minutes of the gameplay the game requires latest drivers 285.xx from nvidia should i update to the latest driver from nvidia website.please help guys...

You can upgrade your driver. Test afterwards and see if it made a difference. Is there no patch for BF3 ? Perhaps look on the website

  • BF3 crashes every 5 mins - GTX 560 TI HAWK FROZR III

So Battlefield 3 looks great on this card but it crashes all the time.  Nice and random.  Drivers are up to date and the MSI auto bios system doesn't find any new ones.  However, I hear the auto system doesn't work.  Trying to get help to see why this is happening and if it does need a bios update.  Card is about 3 months old.
    System:
    Core 2 3.2ghz
    4 GB DDR3 RAM
    Cosair 650W
MSI GTX 560 TI FROZR III
Display device       : MSI N560GTX-Ti Hawk (P) on GF114 GPU
                    Display driver       : 296.10
                    BIOS               : 70.24.11.00.00

So everything looks good as far I as I can tell.  I'm running BF3 settings a little below high.  Game runs smooth with low temps.  Highest I've seen so far is 51C but I haven't been able to play longer than 15 minutes in a row.
    Any thoughts

is your compueter stable if you use another video card?
have you tested this video card in another computer?
My system is stable and so is BF3 with other cards.  I upgraded to this card from a 9800 MX2, and that plus my 4 gigs of ram would play the game fine at low-medium for hours on end.
I have tested the card in another computer but not with BF3.  I may be able to do that later this week.
Any other thoughts?  Does my bios look right?
Edit:  Just tried exact reference clock settings with 100% fan, still only lasted 5 minutes.

  • Nvidia GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr, texture bugs in Arma2

    Hello,
I suffer a severe problem on Arma2 with my GPU.
Observed: Rapid texture flickering on objects at short, random intervals. Problem exacerbated when zooming in. Settles after some time but returns to flicker randomly.
Behaves as though it's jumping to lower LODs because of lack of memory or something.
htt p://i944.photobucket.com/albums/ad288/scajolly/helpme.jpg <--- Screenshot ( shows the problem on the left side, not on the right side.
Attempted to change all individual graphical settings available in the game from lowest/off to highest, none sufficed to remove the bug (though of course I could not try all n^n combinations). Also tried Nvidia beta-driver, did nothing.
Problem was reproduced on another computer which also used the same GPU (not got the specs for it yet though).
    The equipment used:
    CPU: Intel i5-2500k, 3.3GHz, OC'd to 4.2GHz
    MB: MSI P67A-C45 (MS-7673)
    Memory: 2x Corsair 4GB 1600 DDR3
    HD: Samsung HD502HJ ATA
GPU: MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr
    GPU driver: 295.73 (latest)
    OS: Win 7 64b
PSU: CoolerMaster GX 550W 12V (beware, fault reproduced on a separate but similar rig with far bigger PSU)

    Hello Svet,
No, I do not encounter issues in any other games.
As an addendum, the above texture flickering will also occur when I am at stock CPU speed -- 3.3GHz.

  • GTX 560 Ti Hawk - advice to know if it ran out please

    Hi,
I encounter since yesterday one of most problems others members have with their cards 560 ti (i've read lots of recent topics on the forum) :
    - video kernel display driver interrupts
    - every games come back to windows after some minutes
    - gpu usage in afterburner after crash : 4999999999999999 !!!
    Here is my config :
    Asus Sabertooth P67
    Core I5 2500K
    corsair vengeance 1600 8GO
    psu antec HCG 650W
I've played intensively with this exact config all summer long and then it doesn't work anymore.
I've tried recent and legacy nvidia drivers with driver sweeper proper uninstall.
I didn't try bios update because i'm not sure i will succeed.
Do you think i have to RMA, please ?
Thanks for your attention (and sorry for my english, i'm fench)

    Hi again
Strange thing : i changed (without any hope) the position of the switch on the card. It was in center position since I bought it, and it worked very well.
    - I put in through right (inside the pc) : no boot
    - I put in through left (rear pc) : card works perfectly --> 4 hours of shogun 2 instead of crashing after 2 minutes.
What could be the technical explanation ?
I spent a lot of time on forums since yesterday, about games, hardware and drivers, with a lot of topics about this kind of issues. I don't know if all graphic cards have this kind of switch... any rational explanation
    Thanks

Since that psu has 50A on single +12v  that doesn't seem to be the issue.
    Get Afterburner and check temps:
Ahh the psu exactly same with your link, I'll check temp later cz for now my cpu under repairing or reinstalling by technician, thanks for your big help, flobelix

If you use another video card does your computer works stable?
have you checked CPU underload temp ?
Can you pass Prime95 testing over night without problems?
    Checked memory with
    What mainboard you have?
in such case VGA is not even loaded/stressed,
so possible the issue is somewhere else in your computer.
Are you using msi vga drivers for your card from msi web?
I have not used another card cz used to laptop user, and first time using desktop computer use that vcard, I'll check and test as your suggestion later cz of my reason above.

Dear MSI Support & all guys
I bought a new gtx 960 but after i boot my pc sometimes it shows no display on monitor...sometimes it shows till windows loading but after that no display on monitor...i had worked out a temporary solution. When that happens...

  • GTX 560 TI HAWK 82-84'c at 100% fan speed

    Hello
I've noticed my hawk becoming VERY loud while playing games, Final Fantasy XIV and Deus EX: Human Revolution to name a couple. I downloaded Afterburner to see what the temperatures were and I'm astounded to see my card at 82'c at near 100% fan speed. I have the fan profile on performance mode and I have a well ventilated Cooler Master Storm Sniper with 3 200mm fans at the top, front, and side and one 120mm fan at the rear. My ambient room temperature is about 24'c so it's not my room temp.
    Here's a screenshot while FF14 is running.
Touching the side support brace bar is hot to the touch.
EVERYTHING is at the default clock speed/voltage.
I think the cooler or something with the card is defective!
Should I set up a RMA ASAP?
    If I should:
How long is the RMA process?
Does MSI offer an advance RMA service similar to EVGA?

If you don't cause any physical damage to the card there should be no problem.
Svet, is that what you use to clean it, Jim Beam whiskey and a cross peen hammer to scrape the gooey stuff off? You should be using Everclear 190 proof instead, 151 proof at the very least.
Maybe I should check mine just to be sure. I took a look at my 465 last week and found the HSF mounting screws were loose.

At final cleaning stage for old TIM [1st used the toilet paper, a special one, its doing excellent job for the task and its tenderly]
then used this[dunno how they are called in English]:
and then since the heatisnk surface and chip start shinning with light of clean and no any sign of TIm left,
i used a drop of  Jim Beam whiskey over the
then clean both surfaces again, then start cleaning them again with the same, but with dry one.

The Cross peen hammer on the photos is only for respect  and i don't use it of course

What are those arrows? is that where i get to unscrew the entire cooling pipes away from the graphic board?
Just to check with you the pipes and fans are meant to be removed and installed back - right? I meant they are not glued or riveted in - correct?
The arrows shows the 4 for screws which you have to unscrew 1st.
Yes, they hold the entire heatsink+fans to the VGA's PCB

They are not riveted, only the screws hold them.
There is TIM which works like a glue, which also holds the heatink to the GPU chip surface.
Once you unscrew all 4 screws, then you need to take off the entire heatsink,
don't use force, don't push it directly in up direction, start with small slides the entire heatsink as it makes contact with GPU's chip surface where the TIM is installed and works as glue, so start slide little by little, not too much and not too sharply cause the heatsink can hit and broke some of the PCB capacitors.
Just use little and small slides until you feel that heatsink is now disconnected from the TIM/GPU surface, then take it off carefully.
You have to disconnect FAN cable from PCB as well.
