NVIDIA Texture Tools plugin

I recently applied NVIDIA Texture Tools (http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop) which allows the exportation of .DDS files.  My problem arises when I try to actually save my project as a DDS its say "..because of an error".  Also sometimes I try to import a DDS and I get an error that says "...problem with file-format module interface."
Anyone familiar with this plugin that might be able to help?

Are you writing the plugin?  If not, you need to ask questions in the NVidia forums.
This forum is for people developing software using the Photoshop SDK.

I need a graphic rendering service plugin. The need is when we copy / upload a grpahic file ( AI , png , svg ,etc) into a folder the graphic rendering service plugin should automatically generate different resolution of the same graphic ( may be in different format) as per the configuration/metadata. It should be possible to add our own metadata Please suggest which plugin can do that.I will put the license request. Can I get the tool/plugin/SDK to test..

Google, iStore, the trees, the gutters, I have searched high and low. OnmiGraffle is the best hope and they aren't answering their phones. I have been looking for a solution for about 3-4 days now.

I had a similar issue after uninstalling the early release of the SDK.  I think it unloads some core components from the IDE.  I don't remember the exact steps to fix it, but it was something like this:
    1. Under Plugins dialog box, Settings tab, check the "NetBeans Distribution" option.
    2. Once the window refreshes, look under Available Plugins
    3. You should see a Java ME option.  Install that.
After I installed that I went back and followed the steps to install the SDK.  Not sure why it worked, but it did.

  • Zoom In Tool Plugin for Preview?

Hello. One very useful device in the Adobe Reader is a loupe named Zoom In Tool, available also through a shortcut (cmd-space held down). Very useful indeed, since it allows to magnify a specific area. Is there any way to obtain such a thing in preview, mayby a plugin or so? Would be great.
    thanks

Thankyou scapesulter. It's true, the Zoom In function in preview uses a loupe as its icon; yet it doesn't quite do the same job. But I should have described the benefit of the Adobe Reader tool more precisely. You use it dragging a rectangle around a certain area, and you get the entire document magnified, but in such way as focuses on the selected area and displays it magnified to the maximum, while in preview you can only magnify the entire thing by a predefined degree and then you have to move the desired area into focus.

  • UML tool: plugin vs. standalone

We use Eclipse in our company and are looking for a UML tool.
What is better: A plugin or a standalone tool?
Or do you have any other ideas (what is important concerning an UML tool)?

I am a beginner in UML and programming. But I tell you my opinion.
What you suggest any painting tool could do (except the reverse engeneering for documentation of the design).
I think it would be handy to have most information (UML and of course source code) available inside the IDE. So I prefer a plugin.
If you need to maintain a component, you have everything together: analysis diagrams and design diagrams, all accessible with the IDE. So you waste no time using another standalone tool looking for the UML documentation or even make errors because of that extra effort. We have many packages and our components are spread across different packages.
I think forward engineering is useful. Many of our programmers are inexperienced with UML. If they have a tool with roundtrip engineering then this helps them learning UML because they see the results in the code. Further there is no need to convert the diagram manually to source code (which means spending extra time) because of forward engineering. Its easy to adjust the output code to the team preferences. This can be done with a few mouse clicks in Eclipse.
If the programmer creates and maintains the UML design documentation while he programs a component, then this helps himself to keep track of it. Thus he will be faster finishing his work in my eyes. He will also do less errors because he uses UML to keep track of his work. Our components can be quite complex, using each other in all possible ways.
I agree that it is important to have a nearly perfect roundtrip engineering. It should not be repository based but stored in the source code.
Reverse Engineering is limited in most tools to class diagrams. But reverse engineering can be also applied to sequence and collaboration diagrams.
And if a UML tool supports requierements engineering it helps you to locate the piece of code very easily which you need to change if you have to do a software change.
I used Poseidon free edition to reverse engineer a component. It was uselesst to me. We use a framework to create components and the components are spread across different packages. It is not possible in Poseidon to import a few classes and let Poseidon import also all classes which are connected to the imported classes. Difficult to explain. With TogetherWSE the Job was much more easy to create a "after work" UML documentation. Futhermore Poseidon lacks of many features of UML.
We start to build a ERP with a framework we bought and which still is in development. The documentation is not good of the framework. I want to use a tool which helps me keep track of the very complex components we will have to program so that I don't drown.

  • FCP Loading some Pro Tools plugins

Just installed FCP 5 to a new computer that has Pro Tools 7.1 installed. Everytime I launce FCP, it would take a long time loading some PT plugins (FCP apparently only loads the plugs that are "approved") . My question is, without disturbing the Pro Tools environment, is there a way to disable or prevent FCP from loading these audio filters? Thanks in advance.

  • New Nvidia System Tool available, Ver 6.01 Mar 31, 2008

  • Dimension tool plugin necessary for Illustrator ?

    Hello,
unfortunatley my company bought CS4, but a few employees also sometimes need  to add dimensions to drawings similar like in CAD software for engineer drawings possible.
But it looks like that it is NOT working with Illustrator CS4. (although written in Wikipedia, that illustrator closes gap between CAD and pixel basing software.)
Is there any possibility to install plugin for Illustrator or is Illustrator having such tool ?
    Thanks for helping !
    Jan

I have an AI Javascript that I built for my own convenience, which creates simple linear dimension callouts, as described here.
It is dependendent upon two Graphic Styles and one Paragraph Style which can be added to your documents (or templates) by copying / pasting from the .ai file that is included in the download .zip. However...
It is little unbelievable that Adobe, eliminated dimension tool from Illustrator. Why ?
    Illustrator never had dimension tools.
although written in Wikipedia, that illustrator closes gap between CAD and pixel basing software
Whomever wrote that should be horse-whipped. (Or worse, forced to do techish commercial drawing with Illustrator in a roomful of others who are using either Canvas or CorelDraw.) That is probably the worst mis-characterization of what Illustrator is that I have ever heard.
Did my company buy the wrong software ?
Probably. If dimension tools and a few other very common features necessary for techish illustration are a frequent need, absolutely. Illustrator not only lacks ordinary dimension tools, it also lacks:
    Reliable snaps.
    User-defined drawing scales.
    Connector lines.
    Callout objects.
Live shape primitives (rectangles, polygons, ellipses, arcs) with geometric parameters (corner radii, etc.) that can be adjusted after creation.
Proper corner rounding / chamfering commands.
Any feature assist for mechanically corrrect perspective construction.
Is there any other software from adope, which is able to work on .jpg picture and using dimensioning, too ?
JPEG is just a lossy compression format for raster images. I don't know what it, in particular, would have to do with what you have described so far (using a mainstream drawing program to make attractive commercial illustration based on line work exported from CAD software).
But unlike most of its direct competitors these days, Illustrator does not provide any features (other than the ability to apply Photoshop filters) for actually editing raster images. It can import a raster image (JPEG or other) and manipulate it as an object (rotate it, scale it, mask it, etc.). But there are no pixel-editing features.
You have not very well described what your company's needs are. But just given your mention of dimension tools as being important and your need for something to "bridge" between working product drawings and commercial product illustration, I dare say you would be far better off with Canvas, Corel Draw, or Corel Designer.
Unlike its competitors, Illustrator has always treated anything the least bit "techish" as if it's something to fear. It's competitors embrace it as what it is: a huge segment of the overall mainstream commercial illustration world. And it isn't just this seeming "technical" vs. "paper doily" aversion. Much of it is simply the fact that Illustrator has never kept up with its competitors in straighforward, no-nonsense path drawing features. Illustrator has always sat too fat-and-lazy on its Adobe label for market share.
People (including myself) do technical/commercial illustration in Illustrator all the time. Most commerical product illustration is of that nature. But in doing so, they constantly employ tedious, cumbersome, and time-wasteful workarounds for the pathetically weak feature set of Illustrator--or they buy add-ons which cost half what they paid for Illustrator all over again. (I've never understood that mindset. No matter how well-done the plug-in, it's never as cleanly-integrated with the overall program as built-in features; and you have to put up with everything that goes along with mission-critical dependency upon add-ons from small third-party providers.)

  • Harmonization/Chord tool plugin for Logic?

    Hello everyone,
I'm a saxophone player by trade, and unfortunately my piano skills are sub-par, which I feel is hurting my compositions. I can hear all sorts of chord progressions in my head, but finding them on the keyboard proves difficult, and by the time I find the first few chords, I've sometimes lost all sense of the progression/composition. Its worse when I dont have any ideas in my head, as exploring chords on the piano is an exercise in frustration!
So I'm wondering, are there any type of "chord aids" or composition tools on the market to help me write music quicker without being a piano virtuoso? I'm currently using real guitar in chord mode to figure out chord progressions, but it can also be a limitation to only hear things through an accoustic guitar with no sustain. My goal is to be able to compose something, and figure out what I did/how to play it later, rather than being limited by what I can play on the keyboard. I guess this is why composers still write with pen and paper...but who writes progressive rock on paper!
I'm of course working on developing my "straight to paper" skills, as well as my piano abilities, but in the mean time, are there any tools out there to aid in this, like a chord tool for logics environment that will automatically play chords out of single notes ala real guitar? Or even some type of harmonization plugin for midi data? There has to be something out there to help us non-piano players, right?
Thanks in advance for your help/reply.

That was a great explanation of dropping center panned tracks out of a stereo mix, although one may hear some vocal reverb splash way back in the mix. I'll have to try this and see what the vocals are covering up.

  • JCOP tools plugin is unable to upload the applet

    Greetings.
I have installed Eclipse 3.3 and JCOP tools (activated). We got ready Java Card applet and my task is to upload it into the Java Card. Firstly I want test it on a simulator.
The applet compiled successfully and the .CAP file is created. But when upload -d "blah blah blah .cap" command is executed either by me or by jcshell, it returns immediately and I don't actually see any data transmitted to the card (in this case simulator). After the card-info command is executed I see this:
    Card Manager AID : A000000003000000
    Card Manager state : OP_READY
Load File : LOADED (--------) A0000000035350 (Security Domain)
    Module : A000000003535041
    Load File : LOADED (--------) 01020304054F5449
    Module : 0102030405
The last file has AID of my applet. But I know it is not there (on the card). When I run install command it does not return. I get nothing. JCOP tools seems to be busy and working but no response... neither error code nor exception.
I'm stuck with this issue three days already. Could anybody help me?
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi.
It is advised to install Eclipse 3.1.2, jdk 1.4.2 for JCOP tools plug-in 3.1.1.b/3.1.2.
Also, regarding the usage of JCOP shell, write:
    /mode trace=on
before uploading of your cap file to trace all the APDUs.
    Best regards,

  • Aperture and NIK tool Plugins

    Hey dear "Apertures",
does somebody use the NIK tools directly in APERTURE as Plug ins?
Till now I have got it only working via PS CS4
Does mean PS CS4 is opening, when I start using NIK tool
System I am using : MACBookPro-  MAVERICKS  APERTURE 3.5.1 - PS CS4 and NIK tool collection
    Thx for the feedback
    FJ

The Nik Collection can be installed as:
    - Aperture plug-ins
    - Photoshop plug-ins
    - Lightroom plug-ins
It's up to you how you use them.
I have them installed as both Aperture and PSCC plug-ins.  If I am going to use only one, and don't need to make additional changes using that Nik tool, I just call it from Aperture as a plug-in and use it.  (Ex: DFine for noise reduction.)
If I am going to use more than one, or want to preserve the layer for additional parametric changes, I send the new Version to PS via Aperture's built-in external editor command, and then use the Nik tool(s) from Photoshop on Smart Layers (I think -- I'm not a PS maven).
So it's really up to you.  It sounds as though right now you using Nik Photoshop plug-ins.  If you want, you can install them as Aperture plug-ins (assuming that you're Nik Collection is up to date and complete).
    Is that helpful?

  • New all-in-one anchor select/edit tool Plugin

I am a professional artist and a software engineer. I work with AI everyday to create artwork make of wood. I wrote a few but powerful plugins to help me do my job.
If there are enough interests, I will make them commercially available.
The first in a series can be seen here:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u92Vj4C5Zx8&feature=youtu.be

I think that good test is a way to go but you should ask several types of users for instance there are illustrators that use illustrator, web designers, map makers, graphic designers and so on.
You should try to get perhaps a cross sectiion of users.
However you might attract other users if you have these to user currently contributing to this thread.
You could probaly get them to help you with a list of a dozen or so users that would fit the bill.
One more thing if that is an email you use often I would hide it with a link rather than letting it out in the open like tht since the forum is monitored by software mining hackers who collect email for the purpose of spamming, although it is not clear what the purpose of the spam is exactly.
Next time perhaps ask for thoise interested to send you a private message which is a safer way initially.

  • Extensis Photo Tools plugin

Does anyone know if there's a way to get Extensis Phototools 3.0 to work with Photoshop CS3?

    "Take a look at this"
    http://www.photoshopuser.com/?page=cs4/videos&video=rc_flashpanel
Yeah, I was investigating that as well, and despite my general trepidation about using Flash (or whatever) for UI, this looks like it could take indie development for add-ons and bust the playing field wide open.
    Add to that the
PixelBender development enviro, and we could be seeing a whole lot of new neato function coming to Photoshop in the next couple years.
    UI Extra:
The Adobe X D (Experience Design) team plans to launch a new blog next week, and they tell me they'll be offering more details about how the CS4 UI came to be.
