Please explain what the actual steps included in "started over" and "everything has updated".  Was the Recovery DVD set or the Recovery partition used?  Doing "starting over" in that manner should get you up and running again.  Be cautious with updating from sites other than HP.
There seems to be a precious balance with the I3, i5, and i7 processors and the software/hardware that is easily pushed out of balance by introducing outsiders, such as hardware changes or non-approved software updates.

  • MSI GT70 Dragon Edition Nvidia Video card crash

So I've updated my Nvidia driver to the latest version, but whenever I open a game the graphic starts to lag and then freeze... I also hear weird motor sounds in my headphones while this lags.... I tried to downgrade the Nvidia driver to the one which my model of MSI recommends: I tried both Beta and WHQL Nvidia drivers my model of MSI recommends but that didn't help either. I also witnessed the crash of the Nvidia driver ( a notification appeared that Nvidia driver has stopped working ) which made me totally be sure that this lag and freeze problems aren't the problems of the game nor the the switching of Intel and Nvidia video cards, they switch good. This is the problem of Nvidia video driver, all the versions I tried kept crashing due to the same lags and freezes in any game I try, can anyone help me !?

Check the temps of your gpu with Afterburner (>>How to use MSI Afterburner<<). Try with and without Cooler Boost.

  • CUDA NVIDIA video card to Mac Pro 2013

Is there any way to get the Mac Pro 2013 to run a CUDA enabled NVIDIA video card?

This graphic from ifixit.com shows the two special cards, still with heatsink paste in place, just after removal. The silver diamond surrounds the big graphics chip, just inside the RAMs on the card. Those RAMs contact heatsink pads on the central cooler. The whole business is secured with four screws beyond the RAMs, roughly centered on the sides of the diamond. So the Big GPU chip and the RAMs are pressed with heatsink paste and heatsink pads, respectively, against the central cooler. This is in lieu of allowance for a separate fan (which in many "standard" cards is what takes up the space of the second slot.
Power appears to be supplied by lugs in the outer corners of each card, so the cards are deliberately not interchangeable. One has connections that feed to the graphics outputs, the other has connections for the PCIe SSD socket.
The text says those connectors resemble the CPU daughter card connectors used in the late G4 and G5s.

  • Problem with nvidia video card GTX670 in PS CC

I have been using PE10, but have just installed Photoshop CC v. 13.1.2 x64.  Although my video card (nvidia GTX 670, 2 gb RAM) is recognized by Photoshop, when I check "use graphics processor" under "preferences/performance" the converted RAW image is somewhat blurred at all zoom levels (except 100%) compared to when it is unchecked and sharp (for both Canon 1100D and 6D). The problem may possibly reside in the RAW conversion, because if I convert the file with "use graphics processor" unchecked, and then subsequently check it after it has been opened, the image is not blurry and I have access to all of the video card supported functions. Has anyone else experienced this problem, and found a solution?  Thanks, artmar4 (intel i5-3670, 24 gb RAM, Windows 7, 64 bit).

    artmar4 wrote:
I must admit it's not intuitve to me that the image would be somewhat blurred when clicking on "fit screen" and "fill screen" (but then what do I know.)
The GPU image-interpolation for display is more sophisticated than that of the CPU, but both methods cannot avoid compromising the image quality in some way in order to reduce the scale of an image. The GPU method can produce blurry results whereas the CPU method can produce ragged results.
Both methods produce very good results when the zoom is 100% divided by a power of two. However, "Fit Screen" and "Fill Screen" won't give a nice neat zoom level like that, except on very rare occasions when an image has a particular size relative to the screen.
Here's a (hideous) contrived example of the blurriness of GPU versus the raggedness of CPU. First is the image at 100% zoom. Then the doc on the left of each screenshot is being scaled by the GPU, the doc on the right by the CPU. Click the images to view without forum resampling!

  • [SOLVED] Help diagnosing nVidia video card

I've got a nVidia GT 240 that is producing some glitches on video playback.
Frames that become stuck and have to wait until a full refresh and sometimes, complete freezes.
    Also, this happened yesterday:
    http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/9318/d3zs.jpg
I use it only for video playback over HDMI to a 47" TV via XBMC.
I would need help troubleshooting it... I tested my ram with memtest86+ and it's fine, so there's nothing else that comes to mind that could be the problem. I don't know how to test a video card, though.
What would you suggest me to do?

OK: I meant, the problem is not related to the video card, it has nothing to do with the video card, th video card is fine,... if you want to know about what I have been through, you can see it in this thread:

  • Strange problems with nvidia video card

    Hi, I don't know if it's really a problem, but I suppose...
I had in the last days serious problems with the nvidia card and ubuntu (see ubuntuforums or askubuntu).
Resuming I couldn't boot ubuntu if the nvidia card was enabled...
Now I only use windows because of this problem but I have another doubt: why the power manager sometimes don't show me the GPU usage (see image)?
In any case the nvidia (I think) is always working (the external monitor plugged in  the DisplayPort works... I think that's a confirmation)
Another question: at times when I watch video on youtube the nvidia is enabled at others not... is this a problem of optimus or not?
For me it's important that windows works (no problem if ubuntu doesn't works.. I posted the links of the problems with ubuntu just  for information on what's happened before this problem with windows..

I'm using Firefox with html 5...
But I also tried also with chrome, in which the html 5 mode in youtube is not activate, and I have the same problem...
I find it strange because if i have the monitor plugged in the nvidia GPU is activated (of course) and if i'm whatching a video on youtube when i disconnect the monitor the GPU won't switch to the intel but it still remains the nvidia activated until i close this video..

  • NVidia video card- Lightroom freezes at startup, stalls, crashes when switching modules [Windows]

Issue: Adobe Photoshop Lightroom freezes when you start, crashes when you switch between modules, displays blank screens in Slideshows, stalls frequently or runs extremely slowly.
Solution: The nVIDIA nView Multi-Display Technology software (also known as nView Desktop Manager) is known to cause these symptoms. If you have this software installed, please see following  Technote for resolution of problem.

Okay, I ended up replacing nouveau with the nvidia proprietary drivers.  I did a full update of my system, which I hadn't been able to do in over a month because of catalyst's conflict with xorg, and managed to get X working (sort of).  The only issue is that once X starts, and brings me to slim, the keyboard ceases to respond.  If I turn the numlock on before X starts, it turns off as soon as X starts.  Ctrl-Alt-Delete doesn't do anything either.  Not really sure where to go from here other than to switch to vesa or something
EDIT: I tried installing the beta driver as well, but nothing changed.

  • Random Shutoff after nvidia video card replacement

This is pertaining to my Macbook Pro 15.4 inch from 2007 running Lion.
A few years ago this MBP completely crapped out. About a year later I received a notification in the mail about this big nvidia lawsuit that would allow me to have my computer fixed if the lawsuit went through. It did eventually and I got my computer fixed. However since installing Lion I've been having trouble with it randomly shutting off, making that high pitch unwinding sound, the sound it makes when you hold the power button for it to hard shut down. I checked into overheating as that seems to be an issue with Lion and MBP's and I run SMC Fan Control to the max and it still shuts off, even at low (relative) temperatures around 140 F.
The weird thing is, without SMC Fan Control the fans won't ever get cranked up, at all. They stay at 2000 rpm. I figured at this point I could rule out overheating, but that's not possible because when I put my computer on ice packs and keep the internals around 80 degrees it runs like a champ. (I'm sure that will work out great in the long run what with the condensation and all). Anyone have any thoughts? I thought about reapplying thermal paste but the temperatures rarely get above 170 when it shuts off.
    Thanks

  • Updating Drivers for video card?

I have a G5 Quad with an Nvidia Geforce 7800 GT video card (installed by Apple at the time of purchase). I wanted to see if there were any new/updated drivers for my card, but when I go to Nvidia's website the card is not listed, nor are any Mac drivers that I can see. I checked Apple's site, CNET Downloads, and Google, but I'm coming up with nothing.
How are the drivers for video cards updated? Are the drivers included in various OS updates? Am I just looking in the wrong places?
    Thanks.

Thanks, maclover. And thanks for the warm welcome
My problem is specific to a piece of software... I'm using Lightwave, and recently added FPrime to Lightwave's functionality. FPrime is a third party plugin, and is widely used in the Lightwave community.
The problem is that if I open FPrime before OpenGL renders the objects in a scene on screen FPrime crashes (hard)... it's like a kernel panic and my only option is to shut down and reboot. However, if I let OpenGL render the objects first then FPrime opens fine.
I'm an active member of the Lightwave community, and I've been in contact with the maker of FPrime regarding this issue. My question about drivers stems from the fact that usually if something like this occurs then it may be related to the need to update card drivers.
    Thanks agian.

  • Official 2009 Lenovo T61/T61p Nvidia Video Drivers: Please Consider One Last Update for the Road

The title of this new thread says it all ..... 3 years since the last offical Lenovo T61/T61p Nvidia Video Driver Package release ..... a virtual lifetime in computer science years.
I'm looking for advice on how to best lobby the technical folks at Lenovo (by phone or here on the Forums) for one last official Lenovo "Nvidia" video driver update for our T61 and T61p units.
Lenovo's most current "ancient" 2009 Nvidia driver packages (found here),
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS001342
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS003876
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS003605
all leave quite a bit of 3D (and some 2D) performance laying out there on the table based on my own testing with current modern Nvidia reference drivers on a cloned test mule hard drive (and never once crashed with the newer Nvidia reference drivers under WinXP 32-bit or Win7 32 bit).
Most all the major 3D gaming benchmarks were nearly doubled, and most importantly, my real world qualitative performance experience seemed even greater than the nearly doubled quantitative benchmark results.
I'm wondering if starting this new thread would be of any benefit to encourage the good folks at Lenovo to consider one last update after 3+ years?
Before I go to the trouble of posting my results, it is my hope that Lenovo could simply try the latest Nvidia reference drivers for themselves, tweak them (if even necessary) and then issue one last offical T61/T61p Nivida driver package update for the road .... hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of T61/T61p w/Nvidia GPU units are still in reliable daily service.
    http://www.geforce.com/drivers
    Something to please consider.
Two (I used to have Five) - T61p 15.4" WS T9300 2.5Ghz units, August 08/08 Builds with FX570M Nvidia Graphics; ... One W520 i7-2860QM w/2000M Nvidia Graphics (most recent acquisition and stupidly fast); .... One - T42 4:3 15" Flexview 1.8GHz with ATI Graphics (still perfect for traveling); ... Two - T500 15.4" units both with ATI HD3650 Graphics.

    Hi eecon
It is considered fortunate that Lenovo provides newer driver for newer OS even after the system was phased out. From what I know, most of the OEM / manufacturers do not provide drivers for newer version of Windows when the product is phased out.
Furthermore, graphic card vendors (e.g. NVIDIA, Intel, AMD, etc.) oftenly release new drivers and it is hard for manufacturers to catch up with them. Usually, the purpose of OEM providing new driver is to resolve existing issues. If you need performance, get newer drivers directly from vendors website.
    Have a nice day!

  • Is CS4 compatible with Dell Computers and GeForce Go 7400 video cards?

I have been told by this forum I needed to uninstall and re-install CS4 because Encore and the Media Encoder do not work even after the fixes and updates. • Does GeForce 7350LE video card fan run all the time or at certain temperatures?

I have a HP Pavilion m8147c  Media Center with AMD Atlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.80 GHz  3GB Ram and when running lately the monitor has started to go into sleep mode or something.Sometimes there is a warning that says something like no signal from DVI and one more but doesn't stay on long enough to read it all.I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit.I had just installed a new game but pretty sure that has nothing to do with it as I used System Restore and backed up to a time before it was installed. At first it was only when playing games but now it happens with hardly anything running. This pc was bought in july 2007 and I have another desktop but I let my wife use one and I use the other.I opened the case and cleaned out all the dust but noticed when I started it up again the fan is not running on the video card.I don't know if it comes on at certain temps or runs all the time but I feel this is the problem. It has been on for about an hour and not come on at all.Any information will be appreciated.

captna wrote: Thanks Hanspuppa for the help you've given.I have two more questions. Why do I need the NVIDEA drivers when I will be installing a GIGABYTE card, and the Memory Interface on both cards is 64 bit,how does that affect a 32 bit Vista operating system?Just curious as I have never had any dealings with a video/graphics card before and I would think that it should be a 32 bit but since the GeForce 7350LE is also 64 bit it obviously works..I really appreciate the links and I am ordering the card now, thanks again you.For some reason I am not getting email notices when you reply but I am checking back every so often to see.
Hello captna, Usually when you purchase a new video card or other hardware device, the drivers that are included on the CD are an older version, sometimes as much as six months old. The chipset on any Brand of a given model would be either an Nvidia or an AMD ATI.
The chipset is the main component of the video card that controls most of the operations of the video card.
Since all the manufacturers of the Nvidia video cards use the chipset purchased from Nvidia, they are all the same chipset for any particular model. The different manufacturers can and do add or enable features for their particular cards, but the chipset is still the same.
Since the drivers from the manufacturer would be an older version, and Nvidia releases new versions quite often, it would be best to use the Nvidia drivers, since they would have updated fixes and sometimes features, and added support for some newer cards.
Your reference to the Memory Interface on both cards is 64 bit, has nothing to do with your version of the operating system. It just relates to the way, and speed of the interaction of the video card with the system (buss).
The higher the number of the Memory Interface, the more data that can be moved in and out of the video card, which results in a faster video performance. This just becomes important when playing games for the most part.
Using the system just for web surfing, emailing and some light gaming, would not have that much effect on the system.
More important to the system would be the amount of video card onboard memory. The Gigabyte has 1 GB of onboard memory compared to your original video card with 128 MBs of memory. This additional memory would likely show a slight performance increase in any light gaming.
You want see much, if any difference in the performance of your system, with the exception of perhaps the light gaming performance increase, with the new Gigabyte video card over the  GeForce 7350LE. You should not  experience the heat related issue as you had with the faulty fan on the  GeForce 7350LE.
You can go into your personal settings on the Forum and select to not receive the email notices when someone responds to one of your post. Several years ago while on the Dell Community Forum, I would receive over a hundred emails every day until I disabled this feature.

  • NVIDIA Video drivers issue

    Hi!
I have HP TouchSmart Envy 23-d104er with GeForce GT 630M.
Current video driver version on my computer is 9.18.13.2702 - it is the latest available version on your web site and it is equals with 327.2 driver for NVIDIA video card on nvidia.com
Any over versions (331,332,334) downloaded from nvidia.com cannot be installed on my computer : system gives me an error, something like - there is no compatible devices for this driver.
So that should I do if I need driver 331 or higher ?
How soon there will be an update from HP ?

    Hi AlexandrRF,
I suspect your GT 630m device ID in Device Manager has been modified by HP. Driver support is provided by HP and not Nvidia.
Personal experience with OEM graphics card driver updates reflects a poor track record.
HP may not provide any more updates for your graphics card and operating system.

  • Help, T420s display/video card issue!

Hi, all. I would appreciate for any input.
Recently it happened a lot with my T420s especially when I was on full-screen video playback. The screen suddenly became like the image I attach below and there was no response at all. Then after 30 seconds or so, the system would shut down. I suspect it a over-heat problem with my video card. BTW, the fan in my T420s is also running like crazy all the time, I have put up with this ever since I got my laptop
My last laptop was T61. With all the Nvidia video card problem before, I am so afraid this would hit me again. Should I return the laptop immediately to Lenovo. I am writing my thesis right now with this computer. Really cannot afford not having my computer for some time.
