NW 2004's getting port 443 on unix to work ??

I have loaded 2004s portals in my DEV system, (server at our data center at another site)every thing works ok, change the port from 50101 to 443 in VM but can not get to the server on that port. I believe it a UNIX problem because I know that ports under 1024 on unix are reserved.
How can I get Unix to now let my portales to use port 443.
Thanks for any help.

  • Port 443 on UNIX not run as root? Can it be done?

This is probably more a UNIX question then a java question but I would like to know if it is possible to run a java server on port 443 in a non-privileged account sandbox. I dont like the idea of running my server as root but would like use port 443 for my HTTPS server.
Can this be done? Any ideas?

Unix root privileges are required to bind to a port less than 1024, so your program must be setuid root or be started from the root account. However it can drop those priveleges immediately it has the port (i.e. the ServerSocket, by calling setuid() to another account and setgid() to another group. You need a bit of JNI to organize this from Java, sorry.

  • Port forwarding for SSH not working on WRT54G2

    Hi,
I have forwarded a few ports, but can't get port 22 for SSH to work. I can SSH from within LAN, so that works. And I can access FTP from outside the LAN, when I forwarded that port. But to the same computer where I can access FTP I can't access SSH...
Would be grateful for assistance. Btw, I'm using dynamic IP (through DynDNS, but not using the DynDNS tool in the Linksys interface). I've tried with both the dynDNS domain and the IP address. And I have set a fixed IP address on the server I try to access.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

Make sure that if you are forwarding the port nos for SSH on WRT54G2 you need to forward it for the assinged static ip address & it should work great..just try it once.

  • The attempt to connect to the server (IP address) on port 443 failed - OLT

    Hi all
I am facing one problem, if i run load to any application for 100 users for 1 iteration then it is not showing any error. Lets say i ran the load of 100 users for one hour then for some users there are errors like
Line: (script.java:84)][ScriptException]: The attempt to connect to the server (IP address) on port 443 failed.
And my understanding is the user's which are facing failures is not able to get response or page loaded at their end. As failures are occuring for some particular steps not the entire scenario. Pls confirm.
    Thanks

I believe that's an indication that there is an error receiving mail, but if you have any drafts or email in your outgoing mailbox, try deleting them.  Apple's troubleshooting steps for this are (from http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4002):
Cannot receive mail in OS X Mail
If you use OS X Mail, look at the name of your iCloud account on the left side of the main Mail window. If your iCloud account name is dim and has a lightning bolt next to it, your account is offline. To resolve this, make sure your computer is connected to the Internet. Then choose Go Online from the Mailbox menu.
If taking your iCloud account online doesn't resolve the issue, follow these steps:
From the Mail menu, choose Preferences.
In the Preferences window, click the Accounts tab if it is not already selected.
In the Accounts list, select your iCloud email address.
    Click the Account Information tab.
Verify your SMTP server settings with the following information:
    Incoming Mail Server: imap.mail.me.com
User Name: Your iCloud email address
    Password: Your iCloud password
Click the Advanced tab and verify the following additional settings:
    Port: 993
Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL): Should be enabled
    Authentication: Password

  • Non-root user can't start Apache on port 443

Today I've been attempting to get SSL working for my Oracle Applications 11i (11.5.10.2) installation and I just hit a small problem. I've followed all of the Oracle literature I've come across, which instructed me to create a new (non-root) user to own the database tier and the applications tier. I've also followed the instructions for configuring SSL ([Doc 123718.1|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/f?p=130:14:6976756808231635106::::p14_database_id,p14_docid,p14_show_header,p14_show_help,p14_black_frame,p14_font:NOT,123718.1,1,1,1,helvetica]) and the SSL wizard in OAM defaults to the standard HTTPS port (443). However, because 443 is a privileged port, a non-root user cannot bind to it. In other words, the Oracle literature itself has led me to an impossible situation. This is what I see in the Apache error log:
[Fri May 15 15:05:03 2009] [crit] (13)Permission denied: make_sock: could not bind to port 443
At this point, I see two choices:
    1. Run the application tier services as root.
    2. Change the SSL port to something greater than 1024 (i.e. 4443).
I'm leaning towards option #2, since option #1 negates the advantage of using a non-root user to begin with. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Does Oracle have any recommendations for this scenario?

    Hi,
You just need to start Apache as root (not all the application services). For Option 1, the application tier files should be owned by applmgr/oracle user (not root), and for Option 2, you do not need to change the port (though it is valid option). Just follow the steps in the following document.
Note: 356080.1 - How to run Apache on Port 80 in Apps 11i
    https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/ml2_documents.showDocument?p_database_id=NOT&p_id=356080.1
BTW, this is mentioned in the document "if you have chosen port 443 (or any port under 1024) for your SSL port, you will have to start Apache as root".

  • Port 443 used by another web site

All was working well with my evaluation of 2012E. I was able to log on the the access anywhere website. Now the service stopped working and if I try to start the "default website" I get an error message that another website may be using port 443
and it will not start. I checked the bindings on all the stock sites and none used 443 except the default site. I am able to vpn to the server with no issues. I tried messing with the Cert and that did not help. I have probably tweaked things trying to fix
it that has made it worse. I can see nothing else using 443. I read about the folder share issue but the service is not on the service list. I would like to be able to turn back the clock but that option is not available.
    Thanks, Ckshan

In my web server i host website on port 443 using SSl certificate. when my user try to access this website they nee to put manually address like https://siteneme..? how to open this website direct without type https

You can configure a redirection from http to https so that when the user types www.contoso.com it will get redirected to https://www.contoso.com.
You can do that on your load balancer if you are using one or on the Website configuration.

  • HTTPS (port 443) for RVS4000 Router

    Hello All
I have two servers - one running MS exchange and the other running a crm platform and both must be access via https. On the router -I have bound https to one ip address and router refuses to accept the binding of the same port 443 to another ip address. I will appreciate any help I can get towards resolving this.
    The network diagram is attached.

    Hello!
Unfortunately it is not possible to have same port forwarded simultaneously to several internal IP addresses - just imagine even if this setting would be possible, how the router will know which request to which internal server to forward since the port where request was received is the same?
However, with RVS4000 you can do the following - use TCP 443 for server1 and let's say TCP 4443 for server2.
Let's assume that your servers have the following IP address assignement:
    Server1 - 192.168.8.100
    Server2 - 192.168.8.101
In RVS4000 go to Firewall -> Single Port Forwarding
Configure it as on the screenshot:
After that you can access from the Internet both servers using the following URL:
    Server1 - https://wan_ip_address
    Server2 - https://wan_ip_address:4443
Hope it will solve your problem!

  • 2 Webdispatchers same host same port 443

Is it possible to 2 Webdispatcher instances on the same unix host both being able to respond to their own requests on the sap port either 80 or 443?
I am having trouble having 2 WDs workong on the same port, but normal netweaver aka ECC6 can both listen on the same port (8000) with the host= option set.
is it possible to have WD do this (noting the port in question is 443 or 80 so I had to set the EXTBIND option).
    Thanks
    Tony

    Hi,
Did you installed webdispatchers on a single host with comman hostname or with virutal hostname.
2 different application on single host with same port number in following cases.
    1. There should be 2 ip address mapped on single host ( This can be done by you system team )
    2. Both the webdispatcher should be installed with 2 different virutal hostname
( every virtual hostname is bind on different ip )
Port depend upon ip address ., it mean port 443 can run on differently on both the ip address .
    Any query .. pls reply
    Thanks

  • Unable to open port 443. Why?

    Hello-
I'm trying to open port 443 on my Airport Extreme Dual Band . In the Airport Utility, I tried in the port mapping tab. I entered 443 in the TCP and UDP areas and the IP of the computer in that section. I also tried only TCP and only UDP. It was not functioning correctly.
Then I opened Network Utility and did a port scan. It did not show 443. I called my ISP and they do not block it.
What else could be blocking it? Anything I haven't thought of?
    Thanks in advance.
    Kirk

    Same here!
After configuring AX, namely putting 443 for both TCP ports, with or without choosing the "Remote Login - SSH" service, and finally restarting, I still get the following message from Slink:
+External port 443 is closed. Manually configure your broadband gateway to map external TCP port 443 to TCP port 22 on internal host 10.0.1.2.+
Checking the Port Scan in Network Utility, I can see
    +Open TCP Port: 22 ssh+,
    but no sign for 443...

  • Cant get port forwarding working, please help :(

I bought an airport extreme yesterday, and since then ive been trying to get port forwarding to work. I've set it up before on other routers, and while its always been a hassle, this is the first time where I might just give up and take the router back. I've been searching the boards for solutions, and ive implemented several of them without success, and a call to apple's tech support got me nowhere. Im sure im just using the wrong number or setting somewhere, but I just cant seem to find it.
One suggestion i read was to set up the routers connection to my modem manually, instead of through dhcp. When I switched from dhcp to manual, i noticed all the prior numbers except dns servers stayed entered, so i wrote down the ones from when it was set for dhcp and typed them in. My manual setup is:
    I.P.: 68.197.191.59
    subnet: 255.255.224.0
    router: 68.197.160.1
    dns: 167.206.245.68
    167.206.245.69
every other setting i left on the default.
    the dhcp range is 10.0.1.2 - 200
One entry recommended a static ip. I originally set one up with the dhcp reservation feature, but then another post said your ip should be outside the dhcp range. Not sure if either method is better, but ive set my system with the following static ip:
    i.p: 10.0.1.201
subnet: 255.255.254.0 (i was unsure what to enter here, so i chose the same as the routers)
    gateway: 10.0.1.1
in port forwarding i made an entry with 60000 for the 4 public/private tcp/udp and an ip of 10.0.1.201 (i have tried many other port numbers in the odd chance that the one i picked at random might have already been in use)
I left every other setting on the defaults. The nat settings (a setting im not familier with) is current set for enabled with the default host box above it empty.
I should mention, my pc is wired to the router. I am using utorrents port checking site, as well as canyouseeme.org. Neither can ever see my port, one simply says not open, the other says connection refused.
I hope someone out there can help me with this, as the router is great with this one exception, and I'd rather not return it.

For starters, it's probably not a bad idea to "factory reset" your device since it sounds like you've had a lot of people giving you different advice. This isn't to say that you've been given *bad advice* but, it may make things easier for a trouble-shooter if you start over from a "known" state.
    That said:
You need to setup manual port mapping. The problem is, when somebody from the outside tries to access your computer, the Aiport (for lack of a better analogy) isn't expecting any visitors; so it turns them away. ---That matches what you are seeing from canyouseeme.org etc...
Your error was when you "made an entry with 60000 for the 4 public/private tcp/udp and an ip of 10.0.1.201" Essentially all that will do is make a mapping for one port. Port "60,000" which to my knowledge, isn't used by anything.
You have to tell the Airport specifically what "outside" ports (each and every one) that you want routed to what "inside" ip address.
    I use:
    Public TCP: 22,80,443,27900,13405
    Public UDP: 123,7777-7783, 13405,6881-6999
    Private IP Address: 10.0.1.201
    Private TCP: 22,80,443,27900,13405
    Private UDP: 123,7777-7783, 13405,6881-6999
This enables: telnet, http, ssh, bittorrent and unreal tournament from the outside and routes ANY AND ALL TRAFFIC from those ports to my PC at 10.0.1.201 on the inside.
If I ran AIM, or ICQ or one of those things, then you need to add the ports that that system uses to the list also.

Yeah..if done a packet trace before it hits the CSS and after......the only issue is that everything is engrypted before it hits the LB so i cant really read anythign....i did a pacet trace after the LB and on the Server itself its seems we get this
I thought i saw some bug info from cisco but i cant tell if its related
CSCsx05640—When you configure the CSS for a Layer 5 (L5) content rule and it receives an HTTP method POST with the HTTP header in one packet that is quickly followed by many packets of POST data or payload, it could fail to deliver all the data to the back-end server. The CSS Flow Manager (FM) application could incorrectly handle the POST and the data packet as a spanned content request and could cause the data to be mishandled. Workaround: Use less than 1-Gb connections in the network; a 100-Mb link does not exhibit this issue.
As you can see after the content-length..........nothing comes across........sometimes addtional stuff will come in ...but usually nothing
Is there a bug related to this on the CSS?

  • Remote Connectivity Analyzer opens port 443 successfully but fails.."Net. conn. not available"

Trying to set up a client with external access.  I just got their Edge off the domain and in the DMZ, and supposedly the appropriate firewall ports are opened. They have a RP running IIS ARR.
Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer (testconnectivity.Microsoft.com) does the following for three tests:
    1.  When I do Lync Server Remote Connectivity Test and choose Autodiscover, it is able to open port 443 and it validates the cert.  But it says "Operation failed because the network connection was not available".
    2.  When I do the same Lync Server Remote Connectivity Test and manually enter the Access Edge service FQDN and choose port 5061, it is able to resolve the name in DNS but it then fails testing TCP port 5061 with "The specified port is either blocked,
not listening, or not producing the expected response".
    3.  When I do the Lync Autodiscover Web Service Remote Connectivity Test, it fails when trying to open port 443 on the Lyncdiscover URL.
So, that seems to indicate to me that port 443 might be open on the Edge but not the Reverse Proxy, since that's where the autodiscover URL points.  And it seems 5061 is not open but 443 is on the Edge.  What else could I check on the Edge to get
    443 working?
Thanks for the help and sorry for any vague information.  Any help is appreciated!
    Brandon

Okay, I can now telnet to lyncdiscover.mydomain.dom on port 443 successfully, and I can telnet to sip.mydomain.com on 5061 successfully.
Now when I do the remote connectivity test:
Using Autodiscover to detect server settings, I get "Operation failed because the network connection was not available". It opens port 443 fine it looks like.
Manually choosing lync.mydomain.com as the FQDN and port 5061, I get "The endpoint was unable to register.  See the ErrorCode for specific reason".  Response code is 504 and response message is Server Time-out
Doing the Lync Autodiscover Web Service Remote Connectivity Test I get "HTTP 403 error was received because ISA server denied the specified URL".
Looks to me like a rule might not be set right on the firewall if ISA is denying the connection, right?(they are using TMG on a server running Server 2008 as the firewall).  I can't ping the reverse proxy from the firewall (but I can ping the Edge).
    What else can I check?
Thanks for all the help so far, I really appreciate it.
