NW 2004s BI and ECC 6.0

Our basis is planning to install NW2004s BI. They are planning to include ECC also on BI though we are interested only with BI Components. Also, on R3 (Presently ECC), they are able to see BI Transactions.
I would like to know the following if any of you already installed ECC 6.0 and also installed on BI 7.0
- For BI instance, do we need ECC 6.0 as technical dependency. My understanding is that there is no technical dependency
- On ECC 6.0 (R3), how can I deactivate BI Transactions across the system. Is there any settings we need to make so that no user works on BI component on ECC 6.0 instance. I am aware that this can be controlled with Security. But I am looking at global level setting in ECC 6.0 if possible
- If ECC 6.0 Components are also already installed on NW2004s BI, can we remove these components from 2004s BI which will be used for BI purposes.
Thanks
KS

We are running on ECC 6.0 and BI 7.0 and I found the BW transations getting executed  on ECC 6.0.
Currently we are just restricting with Authorizations. I would be also intrested to know any global settingd for this
Thanks,
Raj

What are the ABAP differences of SAP R/3 4.6 and ECC 6.0?

    Hi
Difference between version on functionalities you can find on the following link.
Give the source version (i.e. 4.6 C) and select the target version (i.e. ECC 6.0)

    Short Difference between R/3 4.7, ECC5 & ECC6 !!!!!
    1. SAP NetWeaver is SAP's technology platform. It has all of SAP's
technology in it. It is used to build and run SAP Applications and customer
applications (Application server, data warehouse, portal, coding, messaging,
etc). You can find more information on the SAP NetWeaver page on the SAP
Service Marketplace (http://service.sap.com/netweaver). Of course they is
also in on the SAP NetWeaver page in SDN.
    2. ABAP is part of SAP NetWeaver. BW is part of SAP NetWeaver (as of
    the 3.5release).
    3. Prior to SAP NetWeaver, BW was a seperate product. It is shipped as part
of SAP NetWeaver since the SAP NetWeaver '04 release (SAP NetWeaver BI 3.5).
    4. SAP ECC is part of the SAP ERP application (actually it is the minimal
installation of SAP ERP). SAP ERP runs on SAP NetWeaver. So when you get SAP
    ERP you get SAP NetWeaver.
    - SAP ECC 5.0 is part of SAP ERP 2004 [which runs on SAP NetWeaver '04]
    - SAP ECC 6.0 is part of SAP ERP 6.0 (2005) [which runs on SAP
    NetWeaver 7.0(2004s)]
    5. SAP NetWeaver is delivered with SAP ERP so ABAP and the functional
modules are include in SAP ERP.
    6. With SAP ERP (SAP ECC) you have a choice of activating BI within the SAP
ERP system or deploying in a seperate system. This is information is in the
SAP ERP master guides which can be found at
    http://service.sap.com/instguides.
For SAP ERP 6.0 (ECC 6.0) it will the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 version of BI.

The only difference between ECC5 and ECC6 is that additional components like mySAPCRM, mySAPPLM, mySAPSCM, mySAPSRM are added in ECC6.0. HR was already a part of ECC5.0.

  • Installing XSS (ESS and MSS) on EP 7 and ECC 5.0 (and ECC 6.0)

    Hello,
I need to install XSS (ESS and MSS) on EP 7.0 SP9 and ECC 5.0 and also on ECC 6.0.
I do NOT know what steps I need to perform (installations & configurations).
Could anyone please help me ?
Is the procedure different between ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0 ?
    Please, help.
    Kind regards,
    Gil

    Hello Gil,
    1) As I wrote in my second posting, I think I installed the EP 7.0 correctly for XSS and the BP ERP for ERP2005.
Where can I find what configurations I need to undertake and what patches I should install so the XSS and the BP will work correctly ? (that is besides getting error messages when using an XSS iView)
<b>You need to install the foloowing Web Dynpro Components in ur J2EE server.
    PCI_GP
    MSS</b>
    2) If the projects decides NOT to upgrade to ERP 2005 BUT to stay with ERP 2004, do I need to install the EP 7.0 ALL over AGAIN ?
If so, how do I install both the BP ERP 2004 and XSS on it in ONE installation (as I performed in for the BP ERP 2005) ?
If NOT, how do I uninstall the BP ERP and XSS of the ERP 2005 and install those for ERP 2004 ? OR does the BP ERP 2005 support ERP 2004 as well ?
<b>The pre-requiste for BP ERP2005 is a backend ERP2005. So it will not function with backend ERP 2004.
You don't need to uninstall anything. Just download the Mysap ERP 2004 BP and do the necessary configuration to connect it to the BACKEND ERP 2004.This will solve the problem.
You can find the configuration guides and other information abt the BP here.

  • What is the difference in 4.0, 4.6 and ECC versions of SAP?

    Hi
What is the difference in 4.0, 4.6 and ECC versions of SAP?
    Thanks

SAP R/3 is basic ERP that every one keeps talking about which has got different versions ike 3.1, 4.0, 4.6, 4.7. The latest one in this is the ECC which again has got two versions in the market - ECC 5.0 and ECC 6.0.
NetWeaver is the techology stack which gives other solutions that work with R/3 and also provide a technology platform for the ERP to work.
EP - Enterprise portal is a part of the NetWeaver stack and can be used to provide web interface for the user apart from the standard protal functionalities.
You can find more details of NetWeaver here

  • What is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0

    DEAR EXPERTS
what is the difference between version 4.7EE and ECC 5.0?WHAT ARE THE ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALTIES IN
    ECC 5.0?

    hi,
Diff between 4.7 and ECC 5.0:
    1. 4.7 is on R/3 platform, while ECC 5.0 is on mySAP ERP 2004
    2. ECC 5.0 is having ESA(enterprise Serviceoriented Architecture)
3.ECC 5.0 is web enabled with Netweaver technology.
mySAP ERP is the "newer" ERP with numbering conventions like ECC (which stands for ERP Central Component) 5 or 6
mySAP (aka mySAP.com) Business Suite contains Solutions like CRM, SCM etc. The important thing to note here is that this contains mySAP ERP, the one above
mySAP All-in-One Solution is designed for smaller companies (the ad that says SAP is not just for large companies but for great companies where the above mentioned functionality is scaled down and is made to run on one database on a PC type of setup as opposed to the full blown architectures on which SAP traditionally set to run

  • Technical Difference between 4.6c and ECC 6.0

    Hi
Currently we are on R/3 4.6C and will be upgrading to ECC 6.0. Can any body tell me the technical difference between R/3 4.6C and ECC 6.0.
    Thanks in advance

    hi
    As per the technical difference
you're "Basis/Technical", focusing on the underlying technical "Basis" or "NetWeaver" versions will help you stay on the right track. Technically, ECC 6.0 is 2 "technology" versions higher. Following is the terminology/version information for the last 3 ERP product versions:
    SAP R/3 Enterprise (4.7x)
    SAP BASIS 6.20
    SAP ERP 2004
    SAP NetWeaver 2004 (BASIS 6.40)
    ECC 5.0
    SAP ERP 2005
    SAP NetWeaver 2004s (BASIS 7.00)
    ECC 6.0
The main technology feature delivered with NetWeaver is the integrated J2EE engine (Web Application Server Java).
--->you will install an SAP ECC 6.0 System based on SAP NetWeaver 7.0. The system will be implemented on a Windows 2003 64-bit operating system and MaxDB. Special features of installations on Unix- based operating systems and other databases are dere as compare to 4.6 c

  • Difference between 4.7 and ECC 5.0

    Hi all,
what are the generic differences between R/3 4.7 and ECC 5.0
If usefull i will assign the points.
    dont give urls
    thanks in advance
    venu

    Hello Venu,
    Here you go
SAP R/3 or SAP R/3 Enterprise - is the good old SAP up until the release of 4.6c.. I believe 4.7 is powered by WebAS, but i could be wrong. (If i am wrong then you could add 4.7 here, else in the next category)
mySAP ERP is the "newer" ERP with numbering conventions like ECC (which stands for ERP Central Component) 5 or 6
mySAP (aka mySAP.com) Business Suite contains Solutions like CRM, SCM etc.
Another aspect in terms of differences is that while the older SAP had a thick client, most of the "newer" SAP (i.e mySAP solutions) are web-based, ie the client only needs a Web Browser to run.
Also, the underlying technology for the mySAP suite of products is NetWeaver which is powered by WebAS, which i believe is in the 7.0 iteration with NetWeaver 2004s.
I hope this helps in alleviating your confusion. I could have been wrong with the timing of the versions but most of it should be good as of today.

  • Difference between MYSAP 2005 and ECC 6.0

    Hi All,
Can you Please explain what are the components that come under MYSAP 2005
    and ECC 6.0.
Like what are the modules that come under these.
    Thanks
    Arun

    Hi,
For the differences between mySAP ERP 2004 and 2005 from a hardware perspective, please see SAP Note 901070.
It is a full upgrade to upgrade from mySAP ERP 2004 to 2005 (not simply applying support packages). Of course the impact of even a technical upgrade depends on the functionality that you have deployed and if there are major changes between the 2004 and 2005 release. In most cases this is minimal but investigation is required and you should test everything for signoff. Do not let a technical upgrade be considered a no brainer, some people get tripped up with not checking everything and finding the unexpected after go live.
You mentioned that you want to start using xSS. I would suggest that you start with mySAP ERP 2005 as there are technology changes in mySAP ERP 2005 in the xSS solution and it will save you rework in the long term - xSS is written in Web Dynpro for Java and not ITS based in mySAP ERP 2005.
In regard to satisfaction with the upgrade, I would suggest you ask SAP to talk to references and check with your local SAP user group to see if anyone has done it.
I hope this helps in some way.
    Thanks,
    Shankar

  • RFC connection error between BW 3.5 and ECC 6.0

    Hi gurus,
We've defined an RFC destination between BW 3.5 and ECC 6.0. Connection test  (SM59) is ok, but authorization one fails and ALEREMOTE users block. These users on both systems have good profiles. We look ST22 and find a runtime error on CALL_FUNCTION_REMOTE_ERROR. We've cleaned source system on BW and RFC destination and we've created one more time, but error doesn't disappear. We've looked OSS but don't find anything.
Any idea? Is there any other place (users, RFC) where we have to change user password on system?
    Thanks a lot!
    Regards,
    Iván.
Edited by: Iván Cabezas Castillo on Nov 6, 2009 12:09 PM

    Solved!
This is because of the incompatibility of password handling between
    640 and 700 systems.
We have to use a maximum 8 character long password with only capital letters (numbers are also allowed) for the user "ALEREMOTE".
    1. Change the password for the user in SAP R/3.
    2. Maintain the password in SAP BW for the RFC destination (transaction SM59 - Logon/Security tab)
    3. Authorization test is now successful.
    (SM59 - Test - Authorization).

  • SSO issue with BI 4.0 BW and ECC

We currently have SAP BW 7.3 BOBJ 4.0 ECC and SAP portals.
We have configured SAP BW, BOBJ and SAP Portal with SSO and that works perfectly fine.
The issue is that i have Crystal Reports running on ECC that have also to be published to the Portal.
All BW crystal reports run fine and ECC fails because of SSO -
What am i missing here -
Do i need to do something different for ECC
In CMC  Authentication i have added SAP ECC and imported a role - So now i have 2 ids - one from BW and the other from ECC.
I know this is not the way to do it but it still does not work.
What do i need to do to have ECC and BW reports to work with SSO from SAP portal.
    Thanks

Thank you for your reply Ingo
I assume that your BusinessObjects Server has the SAP Authentication for BW and ECC configured ?
    *Yes *
Are the reports for BW and ECC been called from the portal ?
    Yes
if so then you have one BOE Server, 2 SAP environments and 2 SAP authentications configured and to achieve SSO for all systems you will have to combine the 2 SAP Systems via SNC (for XI 3.1) or via the SSO Token Service in BI4
We are on BI4 and we have set up SSO Token for BW -
Are you saying that we have to set up SSO token for BW as well as ECC -
In CMC - Authentication - SAP  - Options -SAP  SSO Service - it does not give me an option to have 2 systems
How do i add ECC system there too.
