NW 7.3 - WPC: Area in top level

Hello,
in Netweaver 7.3 the link between WPC Areas and roles now has to be defined as connection instead of external id. I would like to set areas as top-level navigation node
for Example:
WPC Area Public
-- Sub Area About Us
Page 1
Page 2
When I now add it to role I cannot set the connection as entrypoint (flag is disabled in overview, in details it has no effect). So I have to create another folder as entrypoint to show content:
    Folder About Us Folder
     -- Public
About us
Page 1
Page 2
No I would like to merge About Us with About us Folder, but as the entrypoint setting the merge id settings have no effect.
Does someone has a solution for this?
Thanks,
Frank

Hi Frank,
You may achieve this by creating 2 separate Roles....
Just a thought,
Role X1
---Folder X
Role X11 - Area USx(connection ID)
Role Y1
---Folder X
Role Y11 - Area USy (connection ID)
In both the Portal Roles -
Entry Point would be maintained on Folder X
Merge Role X11 and Y11 with a common Merge ID
..................I did not test this , but just a logical thought to achive the same.
Hope this would help you.
Thanks,
Biroj

  • WPC on Portal 7.3: Area in top level navigation

    Hi,
    We are trying to set up a site using Web Page Composer on portal 7.3, but we are not able to display the area in the first level of the navigation.
    Let's say we need following structure in the navigation:
    Departments
    -- HR
    -- Trading & Supply
    -- Finance
    We want the content managers  of our site to create extra departments without sending an area connection request to show the new department in the navigation.
    Is it possible to create an Area Departments, link it to a role by creating a connection and use this connection as an entry point?
    I've tried to edit the connection and mark "departments" as entry point, but it's not appearing in the top level navigation.
    kr,
    Joachim

    Hi,
    An area cannot be the first level of navigation. When you publish an area in WPC 2.0 it becomes a workset. Connecting the area to a role is similar to placing a workset under a role (the technicalities aren't the same, but that's the general idea).
    Information regarding area connection can be found at:

  • How can I close all open subVI front panels, without closing my top level VI front panel when all VIs are built into executables?

    I'm using the code shown in the sample VI discussed here: http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/353A696A3F393D9B86256E8B007A2912
    to close all open VIs except my top level VI.  My top level VI is actually a separate executable and the sub-VIs are their own executables.  All reside under the same project.  It works very well if I'm running in LabView but will not work when I build them.  I added all the sub-VIs to the Always Include box in my top level VIs properties which did nothing.  I also tried adding them to the Startup VIs box.  This allowed me to close them all programmatically from the top level VI but it also open all the VIs at once (which was expected and not desired).  I think the problem is the executables are not able to see outside their own memory space so the top-level VI never finds any other open front panels to close.  Is this correct?  Is there another way to go about doing this?
    Thanks!

    Where do I begin…..
    I’m using a “server” to control 4 “client” PCs.  My server opens references to 4 VIs on each client then executes them sequentially.  So on a normal day, the server will run everything itself and I will have no contact with the clients.  But on a several occasions, I’ve needed the ability to walk up to one of the clients and run just one of the 4 VIs.
    We are updating from LabView 6.1 to 8.5 and we want to run executables rather than VIs for various reasons.  I have a new VI running on the client PCs who’s only function is to initialize the shared variables and open/close the VIs.  I initially thought of making the remaining 4 VIs sub-VIs but I will loose the ability to run them individually.  I think I would also have to rewrite the VI running on the server since the 4 references it originally opened do not exist.  I don’t think you can open a reference to a sub-VI on another PC.  Can you???
     As you can see, this is a huge mess.  I’m still pretty new with LabView so any help you can provide would be great.

  • Problem with WPC and Top Level Navigation

    Hi all...
    I have one problem. I'm using WPC and my role name is shown in Top Level Navigation (TLN).
    For example:
    Role name: Test
    navigation nodes: company, About Us, Finnancial, News...
    "Test" role is shown on TLN first level and the first level of navigation node is shown on TLN second level.
    How can I remove the role name from TLN first level? I already changed the entry point parameter to "No" however this case the navigation node disappear from TLN.
    tks

    Praveen,
    How can I set the "No" Entry Point parameter to my navigation nodes??
    In my role configuration I only changed the External Connector and Entry Point Parameters.
    Where can I set up the No entry point parameter for my navigation nodes?

    Hi ,
      I have modified the standard look and feel of the portal . We have our own masthead now and a custom footer as well . The problem is the top level navigation is appearing below the content area . I presume that there is a possibility of arranging the ordering of all the different objects in a frameworkpage . How can this be done ? Please help .

  • XML Error: Only segments are allowed on top level,found non-segment E1EDK03

    Hi,
    I have a problem in my senario of receiving XML files with a Business Connector (4.7), adding some data to certain segments and elements, do some mapping steps and then convert the XML file to SAP IDoc. Then the IDoc should be send to R/3 system via ALE.
    The senario works so far, if I test it with the "Send XML file.." option in the menu "Test" of the Business Connectior itself.
    If I try to send the XML data as string in my browser the following error always occurs:
    $localizedError:
    com.wm.lang.xml.WMDocumentException: Invalid IDocXML document: Only segments are allowed on top level, found non-segment E1EDK03
    $errorType:
    com.wm.util.coder.InvalidDatatypeException
    If I send send a string containing the XML data incl. the data I actually wanted to add in a flow step, it works.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks,
    Kai

    I had been using MC Internet Explorer until this . Have compared this one to functioning XML viewable with MS Internet explorer. Below is code I am using trying to resolve this problem.
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <?sap.transform simple?>
    <tt:transform xmlns:tt="http://www.sap.com/transformation-templates">
    <tt:root name="ecrtas"/>
    <tt:template>
    <tt:loop ref="ecrtas">
    <ImportInstructions>
    <ProjectSponsorInstruction>
      <Instruction mode="Add">
       <SponsorName tt:value-ref="SPONME"/>
       <SponsorNumber>
         <IdValue name="Sponsor Number"><tt:value ref="SPONSOR"/></IdValue>
         </SponsorNumber>
        <SponsorType tt:value-ref="SPONTYP"/>
      </Instruction>
    </ProjectSponsorInstruction>
    </ImportInstructions>
    </tt:loop>
    </tt:template>
    </tt:transform>

  • IViews are not updated in customized top level navigation

    Hi experts,
    I am working on External Facing Portal. I developed customized top level navigation. The problem is that the content area of External Facing portal is not refreshed. Although, i can see different navigationURLs but content area iView remains same. For testing purpose, i assigned role (which i created for anonymous access) to a new portal user. All pages/ivews/ for that role are working fine and content area is also updated when i click on different navigation. Remember that is standard portal not anonymous. It means through myserver:50100/irj/protal?NavigationTarget=navurl://cb0c473832f39033f88904647de63252 all navigation is working fine including content area but when i access External Facing Portal through  myserver:50100/irj/protal/anonymous?NavigationTarget=navurl://cb0c473832f39033f88904647de63252 navigationURLs is updated but the content area remains same. Content area contains 1 page and page itself contains 1 iVew. I assigned that light page to Light Framework page.
    Do i need to implement navigation connectors for that issue or i miss something?
    waiting for your response.
    regards
    Abbas

    Have you tried disabling the iView caching (check the iView and page properties). Your browser and proxy server (as you mention it is external facing) may also be caching the content, hence the reason when you use your user ID and the Java restart occurs everything is reset correctly.
    I know when doing Visual Composer developments that SAP EP caches the Function Module interfaces and that in the development environment I needed to change parameters in Visual Admin for the VC component lifetime to handle these. It could well be that you are referencing components that have lifetime keep alive set for them in the environment too. Refer to the API / SDK documentation if you suspect this could be the case for you too.
    What exactly is the iView in the content area doing? Is it just a transactional iView or is it a custom iview?
    If you can perhaps try putting on an http trace or monitor the NWA logs to determine if any issues exist. You Java VM may also require some more fine tuning in the external facing scenario - the GC may not be collecting items efficiently.

  • How make the Top-level Navigation and Content Area in one page as a whole?

    I want to make the Top-level Navigation and the Content Area in the one page as a whole displayed in user interface.In the default framework,the Top-level Navigation and the Content Area were contained  in 2 pages, So the vertical scroll bar could only control the Content Area. I want to control the full page with  one vertical bar like the page of "www.sdn.sap.com" Web.

    Hi Jianguo,
    One advantage of the external facing portal solution (SP14) is that the framework page is displayed in a single frame. Perhaps this could be of use to you.
    Hope this helps.

  • Roles and Worksets are indicated several times in Top-level-navigation.

    Hallo Experts,
    I dont understand why the Roles and Worksets in the Top-level-navigation are displayed several times. How can I change that?
    Thank you very much
    regards,
    Galyna

    Hi,
    Which roles do you see several times?
    If it is the home tab than you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
    If under the Home you see for example the Company, Work, Team... worksets twice than again you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
    If these are administrative roles than might have assigned yourself these roles through multiple groups/roles assignments.
    If you will say exactly which roles/worksets you see several times we will be able to help more efficiently.

  • What is the criteria for a post to show up in the top-level MacBook area?

    I thought that the newest posts from the "Using your MacBook" section always showed up in the top-level MacBook section (here):
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=218
    But I have noticed several threads that aren't showing up in the top-level area, even though they have new posts. Has the behavior changed recently??? What is the criteria for getting your post to show up in that area? It seems to be the place where you get the most answers...

    The appropriate place for a question about the functionality of the Discussions itself is the Feedback About Discussions forum:

    A quick glance at this forum shows each of those topics have had at least 9 replies in less than 24 hours.

  • What are top-level workitems

    what are top-level workitems,i could see this check box in swwl tcode

    Any single task is a top-level item, and in addition any workflow work items that are not subworkflows are top-level items. It is explained <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/15/7fbf2e2e18d411b1320060b03c6bfb/content.htm">at help.sap.com</a>
    All work items are of course found in SWWIHEAD - not just the top-level items. Since both single tasks (type B or W) and multistep tasks (type F) can be top-level items you must identify them by their lack of a parent item. Specify WI_CHCKWI = (initial), that will return only top-level items.

  • A top level menu item should display its active state if any of its submenu items are active

    Example case: I'm designing a Muse site which is basically a portfolio of our work. We design books, doing page layout and covers. We have numerous book categories and sub categories which I put in a horizontal menu. When a given top level category menu item doesn't have a submenu, it is a hyperlink and it displays active state when the browser displays its linked page. But when a given page is displayed from a submenu link, its top level menu item does NOT display active state. I think it should.
    For example, we have a "Nostalgia" category which has "Film" and "TV" subcategories. Because the menu item, "Nostalgia" has a submenu containing "Film" and "TV", the label "Nostalgia" is not a hyperlink. The submenu attached to it has the two hyperlinked items "Film" and "TV". When the browser is displaying either linked page, the submenu is hidden. So it would be nice if the top level item, "Nostalgia" would display in an active state.

    Hello Daniel,
    As of now this feature is not there in Adobe Muse.
    I would suggest you to please log this as a feature request in our "Ideas for features in Adobe Muse" section. (http://forums.adobe.com/community/muse/ideas)
    Hope this helps.

  • WPC Area Permission

    Hi Folks,
    We are running on SAP Netweaver Portal 7.4 SP 4.
    We are facing issue with permission on the WPC Area's.
    From the "Content Editor" of the "Accessible Area Management", we are setting the permission for the Area's.
    Now we have scenario like the below:
    We have Area A  with Read / Write Permission for Users A & B.
    Inside Area A, we have sub folders to store documents. We want to give the Write permission only to User A.
    Is that possible?  Kindly help me in this regard.
    Regards,
    TSB

    Hi
    Whatever you create under shared folder it inherits the permission from its parent folder. This is as per design.
    Refer to the below link  :
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/en/7a/3ccd99155b4da9b3ec2363828edd94/content.htm?frameset=/en/ba/91f2ea5d554575bc28db0509967bf5/frameset.htm&current_toc=/en/3f/509447acb443fab3b29cab5be58b6b/plain.htm&node_id=33
    It speaks little bit about Shared Content of area.
    Optional: Create a Shared Content folder. This option is only available if the area that you are creating is contained within another area. This folder is located in the Content Library and is used for storing content that can be reused within the area. A Shared Content folder is created automatically when you create a top-level area.
    If you want to set resource level permissions then you can place both resources in Global Shared Content in some folder and assign whatever permissions you wish as per resource per user and use the resource from there.
