NW client & contextless login

Initial testing has shown that contextless login is keyed to the use of the TAB key to trigger the contextless login process. If the Citrix client is doing any form of credential passing to Novell for authentication purposes, the TAB key "event" (when the user moves from user to the tree field in the client) effectively never happens and thus the contextless login never happens. If NFuse is used to present thin client applications the same problem occurs. Due to the issues within this section, the Novell Client 4.9 contextless login capability will remain disabled.

  • Terminal server application and contextless login

    Hi,
    Using zen6.5sp2 here
terminal server application, to a win2k3 with client 4.91sp2 (french +
    patch kit c for test)
the credentials are passed correctly from the client to the server, and
the "single-sign-on" works ok only if I specify the context into the client.
I can't get the LDAP contextlogin login to work, neither the old
    LgnCLW32.dll
If I do a local authentification, or throught mstsc as usual, it works
it's only via the zenworks apps.
The client 4.91sp1 or sp2 (don't remember) had a bug that it wasn't able
to pass credentials at all, and that's not what I'm looking for...
    Any clue ?
    Marc

I beleive this is true, but I'm talking about Novell login... What the
SAM has todo with this ???
I do not bother avec Windows login, I have ZEnworks that creates an
    account for me...
    Steps to replicate the problem:
    1) create user1 under context1 into edir
    2) create user2 under context2 into edir
    3) create zen dlu policies, for loging into a regular winxp, and win2003
    terminal server
    4) install novell client (configure the location profile with the
treename, and the CONTEXT of CONTEXT1 & configure ldap contextless
login) & zfd on the TS
    5) at this point, if anyone uses mstsc.exe to connect to the TS server,
he should be able to login to the TS, with a DLU, and get a desktop
    6) create a TS application into ZENworks, which points to the TS, and
    start any app (notepad.exe)
    7) login into a winxp workstation, with user1, start NAl, click the app,
it should so an "SSO" login to the TS, and start notepad without asking
    a password
    8) login will FAIL with user2, because he's under context2, and zen
    doesn't try todo contextless login
Yeah, I can create alias, but to me, it's not elegant... and a waste of time
Yeah, I can use IDM to create another tree, sync all my accounts into 1
    context...
Yeah, I can live with that for the rest of my users under context2....
    Marc, just trying to help...

  • Contextless Login Troubleshooting

Hey, people; it's another one of those Contextless Login problems again.
Actually, I think the guys over in Directory Services have the [Public] object set up wrong, but unfortunately they differ. Perhaps someone can give all of us a clue?
Here's what I have: The latest client is installed (install.txt attached), and attempts to use Contextless Login (CL) result in an Error Code 0xFFFFDA7. If I fill in everything manually, login proceeds fine. Wireshark tells me that a LDAP query is going to the right place and the server reports success, but with zero results. I've attached an anonymous browse via Apache Directory Studio. Can't think of anything else to add at the moment.
Sorry about this; but as I don't have access to iManager on this project, I can't just go look.

    Hi,
Looking at your unattend.txt you are missing some entries.
    Mine includes this:
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Tree_List_1=gw-tree
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Tree_List__Distribute=Repl ace
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Server_List_1=10.11.41.102
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Server_List__Distribute=Re place
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Context_List_0_1=o=ds
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Context_List_0__Distribute =Replace
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Enabled=YES
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Enabled_Distribute=Always
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Context_Search_Scope_Enabl ed=YES
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Context_Search_Scope_Enabl ed_Distribute=Always
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Display_Unique_ID=ON
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_Display_Unique_ID_Distribu te=Always
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_User_Search_Failure=Contin ue
    !LDAP_Contextless_Login_User_Search_Failure_Distri bute=Always
What I suggest you do is manually setup a PC with the Contextless Login options and save them so that they are written to the registry. Then using NCIMAN do a registry import and save that file. Open it up and you should have all the correct LDAP Contextless Login information that you require for your network.
Let us know how it goes.
    Cheers,

  • Contextless Login LDAP Servers

Don't know if this has been posted previously, sorry if it has. I want to push out the LDAP server requirement for the Novell Client. I put in the Configured option 95 and listed the ip address, but the client doesn't register them and if I do an ipconfig /all in windows it doesn't show up. Did I miss something, or it can't be done for LDAP contextless logins.

I would take a LAN trace from the workstation or server side, and see if the dhcp response from the server includes the options (view easily with wireshark). That would tell you if the server is sending out the options as configured at least.

I am NOT aware of a general problem with logging in today.  I just tried to use my own accounts and they seem to function properly.  I tried accounts using non-Adobe credentials and using networks outside the Adobe firewall to make sure this was testing a customer type scenario.
Have your customers previously been able to login?
As an experiment to confirm the validity of the credentials they are using, you could ask them to try logging directly into www.acrobat.com. This would be a good test if they already have an Acrobat.com account.

    John-
Just realized I didn't answer your question.
For the /Users directory, I have no ACLs set.
However, for an individual user directory, I did the following:
    - select the user directory in the left pane under Share Points
    - click the Users/Groups button (bottom center of WGM window) to expose a slide-out window containing available users.
    - dragged the owner of the user directory to the ACL window
    - set "Allow" and "Full Control" permissions for that user
    - then propagated the permissions (drop-down from the little gear in the bottom right corner).
I now have no issues logging in from Leopard clients. Hopefully this is helpful and more completely answers your question.

  • Novell Client integrated login fails on reboot.

I have LUM, NCL and CASA enabled and everything works just fine. I can log
in as a user, save the profile, log in and out and get integrated login.
The problem is that if i reboot SLED and try the same user that worked 30
times in a row before it complains about "ncl_autologin[716]: Tree "" not
found in miCASA." and fails to do the integrated login. If i look at the
profile in the client everything looks just fine and i can login without
errors if i supply the password again.
In the Casa store i can see the tree and the password.
I have SLP setup on the OES server and slptool on the SLED box connects to
the OES server and works properly. All three buttons on the linux client
works and finds trees, contexts and servers. I have reproduced the error on
three different hardwares with different media for the install.
Have anyone else reproduced this error? I have followed the documentation
to the letter but integrated login still just fails after every reboot i make.
Any ideas no matter how longshot is much appriciated, i just have to get
    this working.

I have a group of users i try with and it looks the same on all of them
regardless of what i do. CASA stores the info and when i reboot it looses
something that i cant really see. I have three computers with SLED on now
and they all look exactly the same when i look in CASA and compares the
info on a rebooted and a non rebooted computer.
I will do a trace on the .miCASA files and see if i can spot any
differences between a rebooted and a non rebooted computer on monday.
One question, does it work for you after a reboot?

  • Novell Client and Login Scripts?

    All:
I'm a former administrator of NetWare 3.x, 4.x and 5.x systems and am
intrigued by the NLSBS 9 offering. I have downloaded the trial version
and have installed it on a test server.
Since I am "old school", I was wondering if I could use the Novell Client
for Windows XP and login scripts to automatically map shares using groups
like I did back in the day.
I'm very new to the Novell/Linux world since every organization I've
worked for in the past 10 years abandoned NetWare for Windows. I'm sure
a LOT has changed since the Linux OS was brought on board, so I thought
    I'd ask.
    Thanks,
    Greg

Not sure. It would depend on whether Novell is still offering a product upgrade to the OWS from Windows 2000 SBS and what that price looks like. Otherwise, I was more thinking about the software side itself, re: the Linux side. Either way will work. Just work out the figures.
    >>> <[email protected]> 5/23/2006 5:02 am >>>
I guess I'm looking at it this way: If I purchase the 5-user upgrade
license of NLSBS for $211.00 which includes upgrade protection, then
according to Novell, I can upgrade to OWS for free after July 31st. A 1-
    user license for OWS at CDW is about $125.00. $125.00 x 5 = $625.00.
    Is my logic flawed?

  • Using Netware Client as Login Shell for NLD

I am wondering if there is anyway to run the Novell client in place of the standard SUSE login screen on boot.
I would like to set it up just like a Windows machine with the netware client. Machine is turned on, Novell Client come up, log in, away you go.
    Any help?

Until then you could use the directions in "integrating nld into a netware
network" as a base login process then script NCL to launch at startup. both
of these processes are discussed here and as cool solutions.

  • Restored client cannot login users

We had to restore one of the 10.4.11 PowerMac G5s in our lab after hard drive problems. The image is the same as what all the other client machines started out with and we used Directory Access to connect to our server's domain. But something's not right. Users with Home folders cannot log in. Is there something on the server that needs to be cleared after restoring a client machine?
    TIA,
    David

    I assume you:
    1. Rebound the Server to Client via Directory Utility
    2. Checked Managed Computer list for record of Computer still being listed via Ethernet ID
    Are you getting which error:
    1. Attempt to login brings up the "AFP users cannot login at this time" Error,
which points to a problem with AFP ( ghost users need to be cleared out,
    AFP services stopped and restarted)
    or
    2. The "network home is unreachable or not able to be accessed at this time" after the
student logs in ( which points to a network issue, possibly DNS or Router related)

  • How do I make a new network account visible to a client at login?

I have just installed a new Leopard Server machine. It is an Open Directory master and I have created a number of new accounts with network home folders. On my client machines I have identified that OD server using the Directory Utility program. Yet when I log in from any of my Leopard client machines I only see local accounts, not the network accounts.
    What am I missing?
    Ian.
    --

Did you set up your accounts on the server to be mobile or network home accounts?
I believe they are network home accounts. For example, for the user fred I have a folder on the server hard disk called /Volumes/disk1/Users/fred, which I created as the home folder when I created the user account.
There is a folder called "fred" visible at /Network/Servers/penguin.example.com/Users/fred/ from the client computers.
DId you set your sharepoints up to be automount?
I believe so. In the above example the folder /Volumes/disk1/Users is marked as a share with "Enable automount" selected and marked "Use for User home folders".
Did you bind your computer in DIrectory Utility?
Well, on each of the client computers I have used the Directory Utility program to connect to the OD server. Does that constitute binding?
    Is DNS resolving properly?
Definitely. I can ping all of the computers, including the new server, from any of the computers on the network.
I should have mentioned that I had done these things - sorry about that. Anyway, I'm stumped. Anything else to try?
    Ian.
