NW MI 7.1 has only ABAP stack. what about JAVA stack ?

Hi,
Recently i installed NW MI 7.1 EHP1 system. It has only ABAP stack. But for MI configuration i hope we require JAVA stack too.
Hence can we use some other standalone JAVA system for the MI front end configuration ? If so please tell me what are the usage types are required for that Standalone JAVA.

Doubt about JAVA stack and ABAP Stack

Good day!
Hope can help me with my next doubt. I understood that BI JAVA or JAVA has been embedded in the Java support package stack for portal. But for BI7 the installation for JAVA is by sps. We only use pure support package for BI7, we don't use support package stacks and we don't use JAVA. I'm not sure because i don't made the sap installation in our enterprise, how can i be sure if we have installed java in BI7 and if we don´t have installed, should I install Java in our sap system? what are the benefits and consequences if I decide install it? and what is the difference about BI java (portals) and JAVA stack for BI7?
I try to find some information but I found some information about bi Java for portals, but not for BI.

BI-7.0,JAVA:BI-Java is used to provide the Java runtime for scenarios such as Enterprise Reporting, Query, and Analysis as well as Business Planning and Analytical Services.BI-Java requires AS Java and Enterprise Portal Core and EP in the same system. Optionally, you can combin with other usage types in one system. Usually, scenarios running on usage type BI-Java also require usage types BI and AS ABAP. While installing BI-Java, AS Java, EPC and EP get installed automatically. Usually, when running on usage type BI-Java also require usage types BI and AS ABAP, you should be aware that no matter if you run BI and BI-Java in the same or in separate systems, both BI and BI -JAVA should be kept in sync in terms of Support Package Stacks.
BW 7.0 is now called as BI 7.0. There are many differences between them in areas like extraction, EDW, reporting, analysis administration,etc.,

Java Support Pack Stack - what about additional patches?

Hi Guys,
I have applied Java SP stacks many times before so this is not a technical question as such.
We download the entire SP Stack and apply it via JSPM. But this only updates the system to that stack with patch level 0. For instance, if I apply SP Stack 3, then all the components will have SP3 patch 0. SAP releases bug fixes from time to time in the form of additional patch files like SP3 patch level 1, 2, 3, etc. for individual components but these are obviously not part of the downloaded stack but need to be downloaded separately for each component.
My question is, is it a good strategy to apply the entire stack as downloaded so this makes all the components to patch level 0 in that stack and then also download all of the latest patch files for each component within that SP level and apply all of them in the next run?
So I think this should fix all the bugs that SAP has fixed using these patch files so this would save us a lot of time which usually goes wasted in encountering the bugs, finding solutions and maybe even going to SAP just to find out that the latest patch files are released which already contain these fixes.
So, can someone tell me whether this is a good idea to do it this way? Or is there any downside to this?

You can apply eaither ways there woun't any problem.
i mean you can apply directly patch with SP leve or apply the SP level with patch 0
When ever if we apply the patch for any SP level, it over write all the file with patch file

How to add Abab stack to exiting Java stack

Hi All,
I am having a netweaver Java Stack installed on my system. I would like to install XI - in order to install Xi ,I guess the system should be ABAP + Java. But since I am having java based engine, I would like to add ABAP stack to it. So, my question how to add an ABAP stack to already existing JAVA/J2ee engine.
So what this process is known as-- Is it upgrading or New Installation. Because I need the guide and CD's for it.
Can any one tell me which Guide(Install/upgrade/Master) wud help me.

You should read the master guides and install the new usage type on top of your current installation but check the SAP notes about it first.
If what you want is to install XI 3.0, that is if you have an existing v6.40 java stack, I think the operation is not recommended/supported by SAP, you should install a separate instance.

I am moving into a hotel apartment that has wifi...what about connecting my TC?

the wifi in the hotel apartment is secured with an ID and password for connecting. Will I be able to connect my TC to such network wirelessly, and then still have my devices connect to my TC and share the internet? (and the printer connected on my TC) ?

I am puzzled about the logon procedure of the hotel wifi though... I tried it out on my iphone and the wifi connection opens up some kind of web page where I have to fill in an ID and a password...
Can you guide me step by step how to do this when I would connect my TC to it?
Currently my TC is connected with an ethernet cable to my D-link DIR655, which is ethernet connnected to my current hotel room. This way the D-link keeps my login and I can share the internet over TC to all my devices....
Would the TC, when connected directly to the hotel wifi, also keep my login and would I still be able to share the internet to all my devices this way?

WAS 620 ABAP+JAVA stack

we currently running on SAP Entreprise 470x110 with SAP Basis 620 on HPUX with Oracle 9i.
And currenly we have only ABAP stack and we would like to install the Java stack on our currently landscape.
Can you advice me on this matter and how we should start.I would like to know what are the prerequite and also the system landscape.

when you use web browser,Internet comm.manager(ICM) will route your request either to ABAP stack or JAVA stack.
The Java stack is build following J2EE standards.with in the J2EE you have EJB container and Web container.So its a structure based on J2EE standards.
Actually i did'nt understand what you mean by "i would like to use java to support frontend internet instead of j2ee."

ABAP+JAVA STACK STARTING ISSUE a Work Around

I recently got an issue in duel stack where in Java stack was not coming up. According to the Trace file i was about to follow the SAP Note: 940893. But everything was fine for me. Then i tried a work around. I started Java first and then after sometime ABAP. It worked for me. Might be useful for others as a work around. If useful make know. If i am wrong again let me know.

It looks like Server has insufficient memory to hold ABAP+ JAVA stack.
You can think of the following
1) Reduce the no of WPs in ABAP stack
2) Reduce the JAVA memory settings to half using configtool
3) Restart both ABAP and JAVA
4) Check the results.

to configure acceptance of the ABAP (integrated ITS / WebGUI) saplogonticket on the java stack, just log into the java stack (http://FQDN:50xxx/nwa) and select configuration THe last item in the list is Trusted System... click.
on the ensuing page, click on the add trusted system button --> by querying trusted sytem.
Enter the required data on the page:
system type: ABAP
host name: FQDN
System Nr: your instance number
client (of the productive client)
and a username and pw with superuser priveliges in the system (SAP_ALL/SAP_NEW, etc).
the click next
On the final screen, click finish.
You have now SSO setup between the ABAP and Java stacks. To configure SSO to accept java saplogontickets on ABAP see:

ABAP and JAVA stack together?

I wanted to install the ABAP stack SP12 with JAVA stack SP09. I am downloading the last file of the stacks. Is it possible to install them together on one OS(I have W2K Enterprise Edition)?

Basically ABAP and Java patches would be inpendent of each other except the Kernel.
You can apply them together as Java patches are to be applied through JSPM and ABAP patches through SPAM, but it is usual practice to apply ABAP patches first and go ahead with Java stack. Because Applying them together would use considerable amount of system resources.

Unitl SAP R/3 Entrprise SAP can handle only ABAP request and Web request in the form of BSP and then the JAVA stack has been introduced in mySAP ERP edition 2003 and then it was called SAP WEB AS, where it had two engine side by side ABAP as well as JAVA, the communication between both these engines are done via a fast RFC called JCO.
The java engine is capable of handling both Web as well as Application developed in Java Servles and EJB , web application will be handle by Web Container and Applications will be handled by EJB container.
SAP Enterprise Portal runs in Java Engine, most part of CRM application is running on Java Side of the engine.

I need to install ECC with EHP4 and also JAVA stack.
I know that I have to install 2 stacks with different SID and oracle homes, firts I have to install ABAP stack and then the JAVA stack, but wich usage type should I choose for JAVA STACK?
What I would like to have in my new installation would be the same usage type for JAVA stack like ERP 6.0 SR3 ABAP+JAVA stacks.
What should I choose?

SAP ECC 6.0 allows ABAP and JAVA but EHP4 this feature is not.
One thing I can suggest if you install ABAP stack first, it will initiates (even different SIDu2019s) the JAVA stack also.
So JAVA stack having a protection with ABAP, because you know JAVA stack is a very sensitive and time consuming one when you want to start are stop.
So you can do this sequence
