Nw2004s java OS requirement

Hi,
While installing nw2004s it reached prerequisite checker which says my operating system version is not met and only windows server are supported. I am on XP pro SP2. THe installation requirement says xp pro is supported. Should I proceed with installation?

just click cancel, which will ignore the warning and will not do further checks about OS and it will continue installation.

ABAP & Java Concepts required for SAP-NW XI/PI

As a fresher, I want to start a career in SAP ans SAP Netweaver- XI/PI. After going through some blogs, forum, sap stuff etc, I came to know the prerequisites for XI is both ABAP and Java...
But I am not sure which concepts in ABAP and Java are required for an SAP XI consultant, as I see SAP itself is an Ocean. So Apart from XI concepts , what are all the concepts needed in ABAP and Java.
As for XI concepts are concerned there is a lot of stuff in SDN itself. Only thing is, one shd have patience to search and proper guidance while learning.

Does Java Card require a USB CCID-compliant smart card reader? I'm currently working with PC/SC usb token and it requires usb CCID-compliant smart card reader, which seems very inconvenient for my clients and I'm wondering if Java Card has the same issue? (I'm thinking about switching the project to Java Card)

Hi,
You will still need to install drivers for some card readers to function correctly. I know some work out of the box on Windows and OS X (10.5+ at least) ships with the pcsclite CCID driver from the Muscle card project. When I view my reader in Windows device manager the Manufacturer is "USB CCID Compliant".
The only real difference between what you are doing with the USB CCID token and Java Card is that the card and reader are separate in the Java Card option where as the USB token has the reader and chip in one package.

HipServ for STORA gives error Message that the Java plugin requires a newer version than 3.0. I have installed 4.0, so how come?

HipServ for STORA by Netgear: when I start it there is an error message "The new JAVA plugin requires a Foxfire version 3 or later". the version of Foxfire I have installed is 4.0. I delete the error message and the HipServ program goes on and works perfectly. To whom should I direct my question, which is how to get rid of the error message? I can't seem to find any new driver for the STORA backup device (RAID 1 pair of 1 tByte drives on LAN)

BI JAVA Installation require EP CORE ,EP

Can we install BI java only by using EP Core and EP installed on diff. host. ( another system)

AFAIK the answer is NO.
BI Java "lives" in the Java stack and needs EP, EP Core and stuff like ADS as its software base.
So IF you already have another EP, now you have two of them and are maybe faced to think about things like federated portals.

What I do not believe you can is installing the BI Java stuff into an existing EP.

Web Dynpro ABAP - Java stack required?

Hey everyone,
We are currently planning an upgrade to ECC 6.0 and Netweaver 2004s. A source of debate during this planning has been whether or not to install the Java stack in our upgraded system.
I'm an ABAP developer, so I'm really looking forward to using Web Dynpro ABAP. Does anyone know if the Java stack is required to effectively use Web Dynpro ABAP? It seems like the two should be independent...but I just want to be sure.

No, you do not need the java stack to run WDA applications. It runs purely on the ABAP stack. You can develop your WDA app in SE80 and run it. It will run in a browser from the ABAP stack. If you have a portal, then you know that this runs on the java stack. Also, your portal is probably not running on the same box as your backend ERP system. If you running a portal, I would suggest installing both the java stack as well as the ABAP stack for you portal to run on. Then you will be able to use WDA to create applications to run in your portal.
So to sum up, the portal runs on the java side, if you have both stacks running under your portal you can development WDA and WDJ applications, which both can run on that same engine. To answer you question, you DON'T need the java stack to develop and run your WDA application, but if you want it to run in a portal, then you need a java stack to run the portal on top of. This can be a completly separate box and a standalone java stack. Did I confuse you even more?

NW2004s Java Add-in on a Dialog Instance

Hello All,
Is it possible to perform a Java Add-in on a dialog instance for NW2004s SR1? I don't see any option in the installation master. It only shows the option for Java Add-in in Central Service instance, Database instance and Central Instance.
I already have both ABAP+JAVA on CI (NW2004s SR1). There is a dialog instance which is running only ABAP (NW2004s SR1). Can I add Java to this dialog instance?
Can someone please help me on this?

Installation Error for NW2004s Java SP9 Trial

I tried to install trial version on XP professional as well as Windows 2003 server (separate computers). Every time I get error exactly at the same place.
I go through first 3 / 4 screens, when I specify correct JCE zip file. It fails with following error:

That's where I get stuck - retry does not let me go forward either.
I have java 1.4.2_09 installed. My system meets all the requirements documented.
Has JAVA_HOME properly set.
I am trying to install this on partitioned drive F: Since C: / D: drives does not have enough space. I tried to install on USB Hard drive (G:) with same result.
Do I need to install this only on C: drive?
I do not have previous installations of SAP.
Do I need to setup SAP specific user account? I am logged in as Administrator of the system.

I downloaded SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial.part1.rar and SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial.part2.rar . When tried to extract RAR file on same location say F:\ it expands to F:\SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial directory. When I try to extract second part (SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_Trial.part2.rar) on F:\ I get lot of 'Do you want to overwrite' messages. I chose to overwrite the files after I saw same file names with same size few times.
I also tried to just extract part1.rar and then run setup.bat from that one extract only. I get the same error same location.
Question about RAR files - Do I need to use only 1st rar file or extract both on same location with option of overwrite files or do I need to extract to different locations?

Hello,
Finally I could figure out why I was getting that error.
The USB external Hard Drive I was using causing problem. Once I copied the extracted .rar file to local disk E:\ and installed from that drive on to F:\ drive (partition), the installation process worked with no error.
Lesson learned - Disable all USB external Hard Drive.

Why are the Java plugins required by medical systems not allowed to be re-enabled, which would allow medical facilities to continue functioning?

The problem with the most recent blacklist is is that the health care industry is behind in technology. Many medical systems are old and require older versions of Java to function. The blacklist has caused countless facilities to lose the ability to order life saving medications. Even my tech support desk has been bombarded with calls about this for the last 2 days. What can be done to allow these older versions of Java work within Firefox and restore facilities back to full operation?

If the Enable button is not available, the blocklist must have been updated before Mozilla changed it to a softblock, instead of a hardblock. In which case, do this:

No, using java beans does not require you to use any tools. Any java bean can be called like any other java class.
The benefit is if you use java beans, you can make use of tools to reduce your development time, and the code you write will be more reusable because it handles change better.

It looks as though the phone is looking for the JAD to have a signature. All the MIDlets I have found so far are un-signed. What's the actual requirement for the MIDlet to operate on the phone (load SCCP45.8-4-3S)?

The phones require a Cisco signed midlet. Currently only a few Cisco-developed midlets (such as a Unity voice mail app) are being released.
Hopefully in the near future (probably dependent on new, more capable phone hardware) midlet development will be opened up.

Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group -> SAP NetWeaver -> SAP MDM -> SAP NETWEAVER MDM 7.1
Here you will find all suporting files including your required MDM Java & .sca files.
You need a valid Service market place user ID to access these contents.
