NWA: Resource Adapters:J2ee Adapters

HI Friends,
In PI70  when we want to start or stop any j2ee adapters we would do in Visual Administrator.
Now in Pi71 Visual Admin is removed and incorporated in NWA.
Can any one help me out I which tab i can locate them in NWA of PI71.
Thanks
Chandra Dasari

  • Advantages of using NWA over Visual J2EE Admin Tool

    Hello,
can you please tell me What are the advantages of using NWA over Visual J2EE Admin Tool ?
    Thanks,
    Teja

    Hi
Other then the previous reply,In simplest word we can say --now we have two way to admin the content in the landscape.
1.If we want to do it off-line the we can do form Visual admin( works well because after modification we start the server for changes takes place)
    2. Form NWA we can do all administration with indicative navigation (quite frustrating in visual tool ) and no need to start /restart the surver

  • Books and resources teaching J2EE 5 (and creating web services using it)

    Hi!
I'm starting a new job next week, developing a J2EE 5 system. I have a solid background in J2SE 1.4 and know most of the new syntactical and semantic stuff in J2SE 5.
What I need is a good book teaching J2SE 5 to someone inexperienced with J2SE in general. There isn't a need for me to study J2SE 1.4 as we won't be using it. Also, we will develop some web services using the platform. As time is of the essence I'd prioritize learning about those within the platform, at first.
I don't need to read the entire book in one week, of course. But I need something to study and also have as a reference by my side when programming.
As the offerings in J2SE 5 books seems quite low, I need some advice from you, more experienced people. What book or web resource do you recommend? Thank you for your time reading this post!
    Best Regards,
    Kent

    Hello Kent!
I have found "Enterprise JavaBeans 3.0" by by Richard Monson-Haefel and Bill Burke really interesting. If you have some knowledge about Java EE in general go for it it's really good one!

  • Resources for J2ee development in ADF

    hi,
we are building an application in j2ee using oracle ADF frame work
. we realised that for there are very few resources (especially for the combination of buisness components, struts and uix) .so i would like to know if there some good books or online material.cause the online material (most of which comes from oracle website) is qiute inadequate.
my immediate problem is that i want to dynamicaly select the value of second component based on the value of first component in uix. also the table from which the value of second component populates changes based on the value selected in the first component.
it would be great if some one could come with something

I don't know much about Oracle's ADF, but "Core JavaServer Faces" by David Geary and Cay Horstmann is a good book about the core JSF. Much of the knowledge gained from this book could be transferred to Oracle ADF. There's even a couple chapters online for you to check out:

    Hi,
    Adapters:
    Purpose
Adapters enable to communicate with different systems.
    Features
Adapters are used to connect the PCK both to SAP Exchange Infrastructure and to other systems.
    When to use which adapter:
    ●      Communicate with SAP systems using the RFC interface (RFC adapter)
    ●      Enable data exchange with the SAP Business Connector (SAP Business Connector adapter)
    ●      Exchange data with systems by using a file interface or an FTP server (file/FTP adapter )

  • J2SE Vs J2EE Adapter Engine

    Hi All,
I am having a doubt. Apart from having a decentralized installation location of J2SE Adapter,
What is the difference between the J2EE and J2SE Adapters???????
As much as i understand J2EE adapters installed on the XI Server(part of the installation)
whereas we need to install the J2SE Adapters locally.
    Anybody has any idea ???
    rgds
    RM

    Hi,
In one of SAP's presentations I've found:
"Reasons for Decentral SAP J2EE-based AE:
    - Protocol of Sender-/Receiver system (e.g. ftp not allowed)
    - Driver OS - dependent
    - Sender-System has to send independent from IS
    - Performance
    - Organizational Aspects"

  • Restart J2EE (File) Adapter

    Hello,
I configured some J2EE Adapters and sometimes it occures that a adapter is hanging and has to be restarted. My question is: It is possible to restart a J2EE adapter like in the J2SE adapter engine?
Thanks in advance and best regards,
    Falk

    Hi,
To "restart" the J2EE adapter, you will need to set the adapter status to "active" (or re-save it), and then activate the Change List for the adapter.

  • Solution Manager - NWA & CEN - How they fit in ?

    Hi,
I have been working with XI and have come across the central monitoring system CEN and the netweaver administrator (NWA) tools.
Does anyone know how they fit into Solution Manager. Especially why you have solution Manager Diagnostics and NWA....are they not the same thing?
Currently it looks like we'll have an XI landscape being monitored by CEN & NWA and then the same landscape also being monitored by solution manager. This seems like a double up of work to me.
    Thanks
    Jim

    Hi Pascal,
    Thank for that...
Would i be right in saying then that CEN is part of solution manager 4.0 i.e comes with webas 640/700 anyway ??
So for a "perfect/easy" support environment you would have sol man 4.0 managing all your abap components from both a read/write point of view and then sol man managing j2ee area on a read only basis while NWA administering your j2ee's on a read/write basis.
And ideally have all these components looking at the same SLD.
    Hope above make sense
    Cheers
    Jim

i am MCA final year student i wana start learning j2ee can anyone suggest any site or book for that.
i know JSP n wana learn the remaining technologies in j2ee.
what all does come under j2ee.plzz help.

    Hi Vikas,
This sun site contains all the information u need to get started in becoming the best J2EE programmer.
just browse under technologies...> J2EE (Enterprise Edition) there u'll see a lot of tutorials covering the J2EE platform..such as Web Services, portals...jsp, servlets, xml, xsl, JAPX, javabeans..e.t.c too many to mention.
Also there are other sites that can put u on the run try IBM..it has good resources for J2EE programmers www.ibm.com/developerworks or http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/ .
or simply open up google and type "Learning J2EE" or "Understanding J2EE" and what u'll get will stun you.
    cheers.

  • Adapter framework

    Hi all,
Is there any blog that explains about adapter framework and adapter engine. If not, can someone please briefly explain me about adapter engine and the architecture? I have read the help.sap links. But still not clear.

    Hi Aarthi  ,
These r the details regarding Adapter Framework & Adapter Engine.
    Adapter Framework :
It is a part of the Adapter Engine, which provides interfaces for configuring, managing, and monitoring adapters.SAP XI requires an adapter framework to communicate outside of the SAP system. These adapters translate code from external applications to an XML message for NetWeaver processes using the Java Connector Architecture.Adapter framework (JCA )based integrate application systems and business partners via resource adapters.
SAP XI provides a set of adapters to connect SAP as well as non-SAP applications with each other and thus to enable them to participate in the exchange of XML messages. An adapter is required to connect other applications or technical systems, or to participate in B2B communication via specific industry standards like RosettaNet. SAP provides certain adapters for use with SAP Exchange Infrastructure, and relies on an ecosystem of partners to provide adapters for other applications or industry standards. These partner adapters are sold and delivered through SAP.
The SAP Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) enables smaller companies that do not dispose of an SAP XI installation to connect to SAP XI.
Customers and partners can also develop their own adapters for SAP XI. To do this, they can use the Adapter Framework in the Partner Connectivity Kit (PCK) and refer to the detailed documentation on adapter development. For more information, see SAP XI 3.0 Online documentation under SAP XI: Runtime → Connectivity → Partner Connectivity Kit → Adapter Development.
Overview of Adapters for SAP XI 3.0
    Application Adapters
    Technical Adapters
    Industry Standard Adapters
    Mainframe/Transaction Adapters
Note: All adapters are available from SAP XI 3.0 onwards.
Adapter Framework provides common functionality for Adapter
Engine and SAP Partner Connectivity Kit
Adapter Framework is based on SAP J2EE Engine as part of SAP Web AS.
Adapter Framework inherits properties and features such as scalability, clustering, high availability, thread management, etc.Adapter Framework provides its own queuing and logging services.Temporary stand-alone operation without connection to an Integration Server is possible, while still providing e. g. guaranteed exactly once messaging to and from connected application system
Adapter Framework supports J2EE Connector Architecture (JCA)
JCA is standard architecture for connecting the J2EE platform to
Enterprise Information Systems (EIS), e. g. ERP, DBMS, etc.
A Resource Adapter plugs into an application server, providing
connectivity between the EIS and a Java application
JCA enabled Adapter Framework provides defined interfaces to
which both our adapters and 3rd party adapters can conform
JCA is a widely accepted standard that 3rd party adapter providers
    are familiar with
Details about architecture of adapter, types of adapter.. can be found at the following web-sites :

    Adapter Engine :
You use the Adapter Engine to connect the Integration Engine to SAP systems (RFC adapter) and external systems. You use the various adapters in the Adapter Engine to convert XML- and HTTP-based messages to the specific protocol and format required by these systems, and the other way around.
The Adapter Engine is based on the adapter framework.
The Adapter Engine is a separate software component that is automatically installed on the Integration Server. In this case, it is the central Adapter Engine. However, you can also install the Adapter Engine separately on another host. This is then a non-central Adapter Engine.
The XI Adapter engine is the home of the majority of the XI adapters. Only the IDoc adapter and the plain HTTP adapter do not reside on the adapter engine. They reside on the Integration Server.
It is fully integrated in to the XI landscape with tools provided for configuration, logistics and monitoring. It's Adapter Framework is based on the JCA

Please help.. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

I have the following objects in the XML:
    1. UD_HOSTEDEX - form
    2. Hosted Exchange process definition
    3. Hosted Exchange resource object
    4. adapters - 1) get hosted exch attributes 2) enable exchange
    5. data object definition for the UD_HOSTEDEX
    I have 2 questions:
    1) Should I include the data object definition while importing the XML?
    2) My Process definition and resource object get imported(they cant be accessed via Design Console), however - the form and the adapters are not imported.
    Please help. Its urgent.
    Thanks!
