NWDI 7.01 DC Build failed in variant "null"
We have installed a new NWDI, version 7.01.03, created the track with 5 SCs, and imported the 4 required components EP_BUILDT, SAP-JEE, SAP_BUILDT, and SAP_JTECHS. Everything looks good with the track, I then imported the congifuration into NWDS. I then created a new DC and imported a par file - the files look good and the used DCs have been assigned. When I try to build the DC I am getting the following error:
Build failed for compass-usa.com/cgad/custmh(compass-usa.com_CPMCONT_1) in variant "null": null.
I was able to create a new DC yesterday that I was able to build. The difference that I can see is in the gen folder, the one that errors on the build has a subfolder called null, the one that works has a sub folder called default. Any ideas what the problem could be, what may have changed?
Thanks,
Jeff Mathieson
I know that this is an old thread, but I had a similar issue. I hope this will add some value by posting my solution
The "buildvariant.config" file seams to be only written, when you import a "Developer Configuration" to your local NWDS. If you modify later on the Track, this file does not get updated even if this nice fancy popup is informing you about changed configurations - obviously somebody missed to include updates to the "buildvariant.config" file.
Simple solution is, that you completely remove the whole "Developer Configuration" for the track, which you modified within the NWDI. Once it is remove, just re-improt it and the file gets updated.
I would not manually modify it as the system knows better which associated SCs are also required to be added beside the SC, which you added to your Track.
Cheers,
Andreas

NWDI, CBS, BPM process build fails
Hello.
We have a BPM process which we are trying to build on our DEVINF server. The devinf server is running on NW 7.01 SP7. We update the JDK to 1.6. All DC builds fine but the BPM process fails with an error:

Should say that the process builds fine on the local workstation.
We tried to change the parameter
-XX:PermSize=1024m
-XX:MaxPermSize=1024m
but it doesn't help.
Should we open the OSS ticket or not?Hi Jun Wu,
I was getting exact the same error message for all activation requests and after selecting the option you mentioned I was able to activate/build again.

Hi Friends,
Could anyone help me in find the way to get rid of the above error.
I have installed and configured the JDI, and created a sample DC with java as mentioned in the help in the NWDS.
I created the DC, i have created Java package, but when tried to build the DC, i am getting the following :

Please help me in this regard. Thanks for your time.
Thanks,
RPSeems like the SAP_BUILDT SCA is missing from your track. Did you check-in and import all three SCA's (SAP_BUILDT, SAP_JTECHS and SAP-JEE)?

My coleague have installed fresh installation of NWDS SPS15 and the same example on his installation work fine. All building proccesses are successfully executed. I tried it several times, everytime same result. I tried to use fresh workspace, tried to delete whole content in ./dtc.
I compared every file with coleague installation. But no success. I am running out of ideas what should I do with it.
If anyone was facing similar problem or have any idea. I will be glad to read it.

I was having problem when building a Java DC for JavaBeans (to be exported to Web Dynpro DC). Therefore, there is only one Java class which has the getter and setter there.
I <b>do not have a DTR installed</b>, so the DC was created under Local DCs -> Local Development -> MyComponents.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.Hi Denis,
go to eclipse plugins folder and into 'com.sap.tc.ap/comp/SAP_BUILDT/DCs/sap.com/tc/bi/bp' and check if u have folder 'javaLib' with build plugin.
<b>Ans: Yes, javaLib is there. Do you meant i need to add javalibplugin.jar to the Java Build Path?</b>
then go to 'com.sap.tc.ap/SCs/sap.com/SAP_BUILDT/_comp/TopLevelDCs
and check if you have 'sap.com tc bi bp javaLib.dcref' file here - if not create it
<b>Ans: It's alrdy there.</b>
In my local development, SAP_BUILDT, SAP_JTECHS, SAP-JEE are without any child.
How shld i proceed? -
Central build fails when checking in an activity
I have a web dynpro application that uses a javabean as model. The javabean has several properties that are of type collection that are mapped to DTOs that consist of simple types. I had to add a new simple type (integer) to one of the DTOs and made the same change in web dynpro by adding the integer property to the appropriate model class.
I did a reload + rebuild in web dynpro, dragged the new model attribute from the model to the component controller and added the attribute to my view. I then did a DC build and then a DC deploy and the application works. I can retrieve, update and add values from the database with the new field.
When I go to check my activity in, the central build fails and the failure is related to the new attribute that was added. Im wondering in the problem is related to problems with the NWDI server, as it was restarted several times this week while I had my activity open.
When I browse to the dev/inactive branch in the DTR, I can see the new attribute that was added to JobPartDTO.java class in the DTO DC and I can see the new attribute that was added to the JobPartDTO.wdmodelclass in the web dynpro DC. In the dev/active branch, theses changes are not present.
Here are the errors from the CBS log.

Help: NWDI 7.2 CBS build problem - initialize compartment-broken DCs
Hi all.
I am facing a problem with CBS build due to broken DCs - invalid dependencies. I have read all the articles and notse related to this issue, but cannot not solve is. Has anyone faced this issue or know a solution?
The problem:
In one SC I have a DC A, which used to have public part PP_A.
In another SC I have a DC B, which used to depend on public part PP_A of DC A.
As part of implementation, the PP_A in DC A was deleted and replaced by new public parts. The changes are checked in and activated in NWDI successfully.
Next, the DC B was corrected, its reference to PP_A was deleted and replaced with appropriate replacements.
I checked in the activity correcting the DC B. Activation fails, because CBS complains that DC B has invalid dependency. I assume that the CBS cache still holds the old sources.
I took the compartment where DC B is located and triggered a CBS Reinitialize compartment (which should discard the cached sources and load a fresh copy). The CBS Reinitialize compartment request fails too! The log shows the same message as the build log: invalid dependency.
It seems that during reinitialize, CBS checks the validity of the DCs in the compartment BEFORE it does clean its cache and refreshes from DTR.
In DTR, I can see the sources of DC A and DC B checked in correctly in the inactive branch, the .dcdef in DC B contains correct references to new public parts of DC A.
Does anyone know how to force CBS to refresh its sources from DTR where correct sources are checked in?
Thanks.
Edited by: Rastislav Cesnek on Dec 20, 2011 3:25 PMRight.
Its not the CONS, it's the active from DEV which is used. I sort of don't understand the NWDI concept then, maybe SAP could learn a little from Hudson, CruiseControl you name it.
Apparently, as I found out after some trial and error, the checks done before the build AND before the initialize compartment run on sources from ACTIVE branch. So the check-ed in fixed sources of the DC B are ignored by CBS. It then complains about the invalid dependencies all the time.
Finally, although it looks very scary, I activated the soure code changes of the dependent components (I hade a lot of them, not just one) with the "Activate even if the build fails". Then the initialize compartment did not complain about BROKEN components because of dependencies, because the check of metadata succeeded and the components were rebuilt.
Thanks for hints. -

This error seems similar to the one posted on
Build Error - Unknown Entity Type
But installing the patched nwds14 or installing nwds16 did not solve the problem.
has anyone know how to solve this?
thanks,
Michael

Error: unknown entity type 'Archive'.Hi,
a more precise solution for the "Duplicate technology definition" problem: Search for files named "bpfextension.xml" in the eclipse/plugins/com.sap.tc.ap/comp/SAP_BUILDT folder and delete them.
The build logic uses these descriptor files as extensions mechanism, but the files were renamed from "bpfextension.xml" to ".bpfext" in SP16. If you just copy a new IDE over an older installation you end up with both files and then you get the "Duplicate technology..." error.

Hi,
We are getting the following error when we try to build our DC. And the build fails.
"Cannot determine used variant for used compartment ESMP_BUILDT. Using variant: default using compartment: SAMPLECOMPONENTS. Check if the expected usage dependency between the compartments exists."
Could anybody provide some hints on dealing with this problem?
In our dc if we try, we are not able to add dependency for dcs within ESMP_BUILDT since we do not get it as an option to be selected while adding dependencies.
Regards,
Anagha
Edited by: Anagha Jawalekar on Apr 16, 2009 4:21 PMHi,
Thanks a lot for your reply. I appreciate your response. However the problem was that dependency was not added at the compartment (SC) level. Once I added that dependency, the dc could be built successfully. In fact the error message was quite clear but I misread it. On checking the depdndencies properly, the build was successful.

Creative Cloud Packager - Build fail
Hi,
I am trying to build a package with CC 1.7 build 43 but receive the error 'Build fail'. I have pasted the log below. I have tried both x86 and x64 but it doesn't make a difference. I also tried building it without Illustrator but then received the same error with with Acrobat Pro.
The only adobe productso on my workstation is Reader and Flash, running Win7. Any ideas how i can fix this?

Regards,
Brett. If I recall correctly I got around this by deleting everything under the C:\Users\brettm\AppData\Local\Adobe\AAMUpdater\1.0\Install directory and whitelisted the following address in our proxy server. Then I started all over again and it worked. It always failed towards the end of the build so I can only assume it was doing some final checks with Adobe servers to make sure I had the proper licencing or something like that. Hope this helps.

When I create an EJB Transport Business Service, after selecting the jar that has the EJB 2.1 artefacts (Remote, Home, etc) the oepe plugin fails and can't continue.
As I understand it seems that there is a problem with the classpath of ant build.xml that oepe creates inside folder /tmp/alsbejbtransport/ to compile the bs and generate the wsdl. I checked if tools.jar is in the classpath (in eclipse) and is included, so I can't figure out wich is the problem.
I found this in Oracle, but not helps solve the problem:
BEA-398120
Error: The WSDL for the typed transport endpoint could not be accessed.
Description
There was a problem retrieving the WSDL from the typed transport service endpoint at the time of service registration
Action

This is the the full stacktrace that shows eclipse.

Build Fails for Alsaplayer in ABS
Hi all,
I couldn't get alsaplayer to run in GUI mode, but I found this thread that had the answer: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=42168. So I followed the ABS wiki's directions for setting up ABS and I tried to run for alsaplayer (with the one line change in the PKGBUILD) , but the build fails after configuring. Here's the full console output:
aclocal.m4:14: error: this file was generated for autoconf 2.61.
You have another version of autoconf. If you want to use that,
you should regenerate the build system entirely.

I figure it's those 2 errors in the middle of make that are holding it up, but I don't have a clue how to fix it.
thanks,
progrockIf you know how to write a patch or feel like learning, put one together, file a bug report, and submit the patch with it. If you don't feel like writing a patch, just submit a bug report that says that app/ContolSocket.cpp needs "include <climits>" to build. Either way is good.

Executable build failing with no error message with smtp email VIs
I have a VI which I want to build into a .exe which will be used as an HMI for a real-time system. I am using the SMTP VIs to text/email me various notifications about the system state. The main VI works fine if run but will not build into an .exe. The error message comes back blank so no help there (LabView 2010). If I just simply disable the portion of the code in the HMI.VI which contains the email VI code, the application builds. I searched for anwers and was unable to resolve the problem. Any ideas? Do I need to include anything in the build that is specific to the LabView SMTP VIs? I'm new to building .exe's so I appologize for any rookie mistakes I may have made.
Thanks.mikeporter wrote:
You said you searched for answers (on the forum?).
Yes.
What did you find?
I found a bunch of topics on email send errors after the application was built but nothing related to .exe building failures (related to the SMTP/email VIs). I also found topics dicussing the bug that fails to report an (any) error during the .exe build (for 2011). The solution was to install the service pack. if that's my problem then I will have to go through the motions to get that done (corporate computers / lack of persmissons and such).
What have you tried? This question has been answered many, many, many times.
I tried what I stated in the OP. If I disable the portion of the code which contains the email SMTP VIs, the application builds, otherwise, the build fails and no error code or description is given.
PS: probably has nothing to do with the SMTP drivers, per se.
If the answer has been given many, many times, then I appologize for not being able to find it before posting. Trust me, the last thing I want to is waste my time fishing for answers on the forum, especially when I get a response from forum members who would rather point out that my mis-identified problem has been answered many, many times, rather then just helping me out. -
VS Project build fails on TSQL Code in script.
Hi there,
I have the following issue on which I've done some research, but nothing helps.
The database project I am working on compiles everything but one script. The scripts folder has 3 scripts, a controller that calls the remainder two.
One of these scripts fail on SQL syntax which is weird because they seem to be okay and SSMS would not complain. Having experimented a little I found that any SQL statement fails on syntax, there must be a configuration issue here.
What I have tried so far:
-add the script as a stored procedure and reference it within the script, so that the script will have one line only (EXEC usp_BuildTestData - it is needless to say that the stored procedure compiles well...)
-create a new script file (without build) from within VS.
-check if the script file BuildAction property is set to None
-load the script file and switch off the SQLCMD mode in t-SQL Editor Execution settings.
Build still fails with SQL72007: The syntax check failed 'Incorrect syntax near EXEC' in the batch near 'EXEC usp_BuildTestData '.
I thought this was a common error or at least something I could easily find a solution for.
Unfortunately VS is somewhat new to me.
Any ideas are appreciated.
Versions:
Visual Studio Pro 2012 (Version 11.0.50727.1 RTMREL) (.Net FW: 4.5.50709)
Target database version: SQL 2008R2 (this is set in the project's target platform setting)Hi Tina,
Thank you for getting back to me. I inherited the project file in subject therefore I cannot tell how it was created. But, I tried re-creating the database project from scratch that resulted in the same error. Steps below:
-Select New Solution/ new SQL Server database project
-Copy the sql files and folders into solution folder then map them into the project file
-build the project.
The database is based upon C#.
The idea of the post deployment script is that it builds test data in the freshly deployed application. It uses a linked server that points to production and selects some data.
I continued experimenting with the post deployment script and found something interesting.
So 1 of the invoked scripts fail on the SQL syntax. This is a simple line EXEC usp_BuildTestData.
The other that compiles well is an ALTER VIEW. I pasted the EXEC... line after this and it worked. It builds now. (I have removed the remaining empty script file, so I have 1 post deployment script file now that invokes 1 script only.
I tried comparing the two files but concluded in the fact that each property is the same (Buildaction=None, CopyAlways) in both files.
This proves to me that the SQL code was correct, I did not leave obvious mistakes in it.
The "bad" script file fails on syntax, regardless of what I give in. I tried recreating by clicking 'Add new item' then selecting Script (Not in build). Did not help unfortunately. Once referenced in the PostDeployment script, build fails. -
I use BPM standalone 10g and BPM studio 10g.
I copy the AntTasks folder to F:
Then, I change the BPMHOME of all files.
Then, I ran the ant.
However, the ant is fail.
Error mesage:
F:\AntTasks\build.xml: 268: The file or path you specified (..\..\basic) is invalid relative to F:\AntTasks
or The command line shows error:
Build failed
F:\AntTasks\build.xml:268: Cannot resolve path F:\AntTasks\..\..\basic
The build file is like that
<property name="bpm.projects.dir" value="${basedir}/../../basic" />
<property name="fuego.basedir" value="D:\BPM_HOME" />
How to change the path?
Then, I copy the above folder to D:\BPM_HOME\samples
I rerun the ant script.
set ANT_ARGS=-lib D:\BPM_HOME\lib;D:\BPM_HOME\ext
ant -Denv=EDV deploy-bpm-project
But the build is failed again. The error message as as follow:
D:\BPM_HOME\samples\interop\AntTasks\build.xml:249: Properties file does not exist! D:\BPM_HOME\samples\interop\AntTasks\config\EDV\directory.xml
However, I do not delete files. Now, I use the original AntTasks sample and run the scripts. I stop the BPM application.
I follow each step of the readme.txt. But during the first step, it shows error of illegal arguments.
New engin can be created. But it cannot be run through ant. And I cannot deploy the BPM project.
I try in the second method.
I have a Default Eirectory Configuration named default. If I just want to deploy .exp file to default, how to modify the script files?
I just run the script of deployment. The build is still failed.
I cannot find xsi in all xml file in that folder
