NWDI 7.11 from CE 7.11

hello,
we have installed CE 7.11 with NWDI 7.11 with the post installation. I've searched the how-to-guides for CE7.11 How-to Guides for SAP NetWeaver CE/MDM/Mobile/PI 7.1 [original link is broken]
but didn't find any info on how integrate nwdi with:
-VC 7.11
-Developer Studio
-Conversion agent (PI tool)
Please advice on how to integrate this tools with the new NWDI and what are the options for this kind of integration.
Thanks in advance,
Dimitry Haritonov

@Rajat: yes I'm familiar with this document, however this document describes how to integrate PI7.1 system to CTS+ within the PI.
We have BI landscape that has DEV,QA and PRD systems, we would like to integrate the NWDI that installed on other server.
So the NWDI will create the transport in BI DEV system like described in this document:
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/lifecycle-management/software-logistics/configuration%20for%20nwdi%20cts+%20integration.pdf
Perhaps, something is missing in my configuration and I do not reach the phase that it creates a transport while I do assembly.
Please advice,
Dimitry Haritonov

  • NWDI requirement for Portal 7.3

We are upgrading from Portal 7.0 landscape to Portal 7.3 landscape. Would we be requiring a different NWDI or the existing NWDI  running in portal 7.0 landscape would work?
    Thanks,
    Appachi

Assuming that the 7.0 NWDI is not on your portal, the 7.0 (SP 14 and up ) NWDI supports content from any NetWeaver version (6.40, 7.0x, 7.1x, 7.2, 7.3). You should create a 7.3 track  (look at the [replicate|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/46/5d032c1e661cbee10000000a11466f/frameset.htm] option, which can be used to replicate tracks in the same NWDI) and "retire" the old 7.0 track once you know everything is working 100%.

  • How to transport the webdynpro applications from development production

    Hi Experts,
We are implementing the first time NWDI for development.
As per my knowledge . There will only NWDI available for the whole landscape to manage and track the information.
NWDI will only one for the whole landscape?
How do we need to transport the ;build application from the dev sytem to production through NWDI.?
How the transport life cycle will be managed with NWDI and with out using NWDI?
As of my knowledge . we need to specify the production or testing mechine information in the NWDI to transport the build file from deve to -> testing to -> production.
Because my clients not allowing to specify the the production system information in nwdi to transport from dev to prodution using nwdi?
what is the other solution available?
By giving the production information in NWDI will give any problems futher?(like security).
    Regards
    Vijay

    HI,
NWDI is Simply used to manage life cycle.
A developer will develope application. that time he needs to create an activity.
    1. when activity is checked in & activated -> code is sent to DTR in development space, and CBS builds that code and its .sda or .ear file is deplopyed on development server.
    2. same when you release it -> code is sent to DTR in Consolidation space  and CBS builds and deploy it on consolidation server.
    3. after that you can assemble you whole development in single file i.e. .sca file, and its get deployed on test server.
    simple..
and if your client dont want to specify production system in NWDI., then when you assemble an .SCA file of your development, just copy it from CMS folder of your NWDI installed drive. and send it to your client..
he will externally deploy it on production

  • How to put portal logon page CE 7.3 ui.war file in NWDI Track

    Hi,
We are using sap portal CE 7.3 in our project. I have customized portal logon page. for this I have downloaded ui.war file from portal server in my local machine that is on my desktop and this ui.war file i have imported in my NWDS and done the required modification.
Now I have to put this development that is modified ui.war in my NWDI track which is currently lying on my local machine Desktop, please let me know how to transport this ui.war file and ear project associated with this war file into NWDI track.
because from NWDI track only this customized logon portal page has to go to QA and Prd system. This is strict client requirement.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

    Hi Arush,
Instead of importing the war file into NWDI track, you can create new web module project  in NWDI using New-->Development Infrastructure-->DC-->Java EE-->WebModule and copy paste the WebContent folder Jsp's and xml files which are inside the ui.war in your local machine. Then for this web module you can create ear file for deploying .I have done in this way it worked.

  • Landscape for NWDI

    Hi,
I have an web application server WAS in a single box, and NWDI in another box. The WAS was pointed to the sld of its own. Now which sld I should configure to point NWDI to?
From my understanding both of them must point to the same sld, is that true? Should I use the one in NWDI, or I can point NWDI to sld of WAS as well?
    Please advise.

    Hi Bala,
The problem still remails even after making changes in Visual Admin as per the thread Re: Assembly finished with errors
Also from http://<server>:<port>/nwa we have run the configuration task for "Initial setup of functional unit Development Infrastructure (DI all-in-one)" and there we donot have the option for individual CBS, CMS and DTR installations as told in the thread.
The other thread import into devlopment failed tells about the SAP note: 988010 iin which it is mentioned that this has been fixed in SP 11 for 7.00 version. We are already on SP 18. So it is assumable that this thing has already been fixed.
Can there be any other reason for this?
    Thanks,
    Sonali.

  • Regarding JDI and ESS

    Dear all,
We have scenario here where our client perform netweaver upgrade to 7.0 (2004s), as told by the basis, during his performance of the update, there's an option for him to choose whether to keep or upgrade the ESS, and he has choosed to keep the ESS version.  fyi, they have done some modification to the ESS before. some how after the upgrade, the ESS seems to become standard instead of the previous customized version. And he claimed that he has upgraded the NWDI as well. from my understanding is, he need to create a new track in NWDI, and i shall manually change the codes ( pls correct me if i am wrong) .  But the basis said that he did not create any new track and it is not necessary and he said that the new  EP is using the old track as well..any idea if this can be done?? pls advice. thank you.

  • Deploy par files with code from NWDI

    Hello Experts,
I have migrated some par files to NWDI and they are deployed via SDM as SDA files.
From eclipse it is possible to deploy the par files with Code. Is this possible from NWDI that the par files are deployed with code to the portal server.
    Regards
    Sundeep

    Hi Satish,
I am using NWDS, and then check in the Portal DC which is then deployed on the runtime system.
My question is during deployment via NWDI is it possible that the par is deployed with code.
Earlier we were using eclipse for par based development, and this was possible in eclips.
With NWDI i dont think it is possible to control if the par should be deployed on the portal server with code included.

  • Error when creating a DC in NWDI from a Local DC

    Hi Experts,
I have created a Local DC using New -> Development Component Project.
Now I am trying to Migrate the Local DC to NWDI DC.
I am following the below steps to migrate.
    1. I am creating a New DC by Importing Configuration and then the SC's that are created are shown. Now I have disconnected from the NWDI.
    2. Now I am creating a NEW DC in the Local DC Window in Development Component Prepsective.
    3. After that I am copying the Folder under the Package Folder in the -local DC Project and pasting the same in the created new DC.
Now I am getting thousands of errors, these are few examples of the same.
    1. com.sap cannot be resolved
    2. wdControllerAPI cannot be reolved
    3. the method wdGetAPI() is undefined for the type.

  • Migration from NWDI 6.40 to NWDS Only 7.0   and SVN

    Hi,
I am Migrating our source code for an update from EP 6.0 to EP 7.0
I have some projects residing in a subversion repository some projects beeing "maintained" in NWDI.
At the moment I am trying to move the projects from NWDI to subversion.
    I struggle with:
    - changes to the referenced libraries. For some DCs i simply can change the classpath and I can do a Quick Par Upload built with the EP 7 / NW 2004s libraries (good but not shure if this is the way to go). For other DCs, for e.g. when the result is a sda file - the classpath when using DevelopmentComponent -> Build is overwritten with the DC libs which I guess are all from NW 2004.
    - So I decided to create a new project in JDI without DC an migrate the sources by hand for SDA files but I got in trouble when creating a Webservice for what to me looks like a PortalApplication Project (Created a PortalApplication Project added the Java Classes and tried to add an Webservice)
So, can you give me some guidance how to succeed in this migration?
At the moment I don't want another NWDI 7.0 installed as I am the only developer in this project at the moment and it seems to heavy for this and we already have most of our sources in subversion already.
    Regards and thanks in advance!
    Eckbert

    Hello Eckbert
I see that you have not been able to find a solution for this.
Can you provide some more information which may help the other SDN posters to assist you?
    Thanks

I am importing a DC from NWDI tracks.
I imported DC from NWDI with out any problem but i am unable to create a project

    error message is :
Failed to sync DC "**.##/lpt/absencerequest/*.##_LPT_**_OPUS_FRAVAER_WEBDYNPRO_1)" in configuration
"JC0_DLPT0003_D". File "C:\Documents and                    Settings\****\.dtc\1\DCs\**.##\lpt\absencerequest\_comp\.dcdef" does not exist locally after sync but it exists on the server
can you plese tell me why its happening as soon as possible
it is a LEAVE REQUEST application in ESS
    Regards,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh,
Recently i worked on ESS business package and  faced lot of probelem to bring the track from NWDI into  NWDS. Most of the times the probelms are from importing only. Make sure that whether the DCs which you want to modify is getting imported properly or not. mean the while check the path of the local directory ..  whether it is correct or wrong..
re import the components once and try to create the porject in local directory.
    to to Work spave  -> local directory -> .dtc -> 0 or 1 ( folder) -> DCS -> bin ->
if you still facing any  problems pls let me know...

  • Unable to Check-in from NWDI

    Hello,
We have been using NWDI for several years and everything has been fine until the other day. When we right click on an activity from NWDS and check it in, we see the File Uploaded or Skipped messages in the DTR console of NWDI but then the hour glass just spins and NWDS hangs up. We don't see any relevant messages in any of the trace files. We have checked the NWDI_CMSADM password and authorizations and everything seems to be OK. In addition the developer doing the check-in has all the appropriate authorizations and can login to the dtr, cbs, sld and cms etc.
    Thanks,
    Bert

    HI,
May be you can try increasing the memory in Visual Administrator.
Check SAP NOte 830576 if it is applicable to you
