  • NWDI in the XI Scenario - SLD

    Experts,
    I have created a track to transport the XI content.
    We have two SLD servers in the landscape. The first is used by XI and contains all the required XI business systems and the second is used only by NWDI and contains only the SC definitions.
    My question-
    DOes the SLD for NWDI need XI system details???? According to my understanding, NWDI needs only the component information from the SLD.
    Bascially, do i need to import the business system data into the SLD that is being used by NWDI???

    Did a little research and found that the SC information is sufficient for NWDI.

  • Deploy par files with code from NWDI

    Hello Experts,
    I have migrated some par files to NWDI and they are deployed via SDM as SDA files.
    From eclipse it is possible to deploy the par files with Code. Is this possible from NWDI that the par files are deployed with code to the portal server.

    I am using NWDS, and then check in the Portal DC which is then deployed on the runtime system.
    My question is during deployment via NWDI is it possible that the par is deployed with code.
    Earlier we were using eclipse for par based development, and this was possible in eclips.
    With NWDI i dont think it is possible to control if the par should be deployed on the portal server with code included.

  • Broken image in case of transport via NWDI

    I have a image file in a webdynpro application. I have placed it in the src -> mimes -> comps -> package folder.
    When I deploy the application I can see the image on the application.
    Now when I released the application from development to staging, the application works fine, but the image is not getting displayed. We get an 'X' mark in place of the image.
    I checked the .ear file and extracted it. I can see the image file in the components-> package folder.
    Also the .dcdef file of the application has the following:
    <i>     <folders>
              <source-folder>META-INF</source-folder>
              <source-folder>src/mimes</source-folder>
              <source-folder>src/configuration</source-folder>
              <package-folder>src/packages</package-folder>
         </folders</i>
    We are using EP 7.0 SP11 portal and NWDI to transport the applications.
    Please let me know how to solve the broken image issue.

    Hi Vibha,
    Check if the image is added in the activity. You can check this way...
    - Go to Development Configuration Perspective
    - Expand the DC
    - Navigate to the location where you image is added.
    Here you can see if the image is added to repository or not by checking the icon. If you see a blue color Hut symbol on your image then its not yet added your DTR repository. You can right click on the image (DTR -> Add -> )and add to you an acitivity then check in and release it.

  • Backup of NWDI webdynpro customizations

    Is there a way to backup NWDI webdynpro customizations? I have a query.
    The webdynpro objects were customized and assembled, thereby creating many 5 KB files of ESS, MSS, PCUI etc. Because of the webdynpro customization, there are hundreds of broken DCs. So I would like to backup all these customizations (i.e. the SCAs files in assemble directory)  and the other webdynpro customizations into a seperate place and then proceed with installation of a new track right from scratch, then install the required SCAs and later re-apply those customizations. Is there any way to do it. Points will be rewarded for any kind of help.

    I feel that i am in a right track, these are the steps i followed
    1. Downloaded SAPLink 1.0.4 version
    2. Created a report , activated and executed it
    3. Used the downloaded Nugget file as import parameter and executed successfully
    4. Downloaded SICF,Webdynpro Component,Application, plugins
    5. Imported the .nugg / .slnk files and activated then in SE24,
    6. Created a new NUGGET and added an object
         a. webdynpro component
         b. webdynpro application
    my doubt here is it is showing all the classes which i used in my program, do i need to manually import all the classes one by one or it will automatically import all the files which i used,
    if you have any idea which are the plugins to be used and which are all the objects need to be added to the Nugget.

  • Error when creating DC in NWDI

    Hello,
    I've have a installed NWDI, created a track and the neccessary dependencies in SLD and IMPORTED all needed sca's.
    I could now see my track in NWDS with all dependent SC's.
    When I now try to create a new DC in my SC I got the following error:
    Unable to sync local path "D:\Programme\CE711SP1_IDE\NWDS_WS.jdi\0\SCs\sap.com\MDM_MAT_PR\_comp\" from DTR. DTR client layer cannot locate the resource on the server. (VFS returned null as folder Item)
    Any help will be appreciated.

    I'm facing the same issue, we can connect to NWDI but when I try to create a DC in the track a similar error from the post 1 is retrieved:
    DTR client layer cannot locate the resource on the server. (VFS returned null as folder Item)

  • AdapterModule Development using NWDI

    Hi all,
    could you please be so kind and tell me, how i can devlop an adaptermodule for PI 7.1 using NWDI (for central build + transport)
    I know how to develop an adapter module using netweaver developer studio, but the problem with this approach is, that you need to manually delete some interfaces from the adapter module jar file. i don't know how to "tell" nwdi to do this
    Which SoftwareComponent dependencies do i need ?

  • REG : DC Creation in NWDI

    Hi All,
    I am facing one problem in craeting dcs in nwdi.
    I have created new dc in inactive dc tab but my dc is getting reflected in local developemnt tab.
    Also i have not marked anything like local developemnt component  while craeting DC whereas i used "sync used dcs" only.
    Can anybody suggest asap me what all is happening here.

  • LOSS OF ACTIVITIES OPEN. NWDI

    I am modifying a standard ESS applications. While making a checkin activity modifications, vpn connection lost. When NWDS restores the activity did not appear in either "open" or "closed" and appeared multiple syntax errors because they lost the link between the server NWDI and NWDS.
    It has the support of the modifications. My question is: How can update the NWDI server having these backups?

    John: By the time the VPN goes down I do not have any activity, so I can not checkout. The draft code has many errors right now, I can not do checkin, just build. When you build, no errors are corrected.
    Arun: Similar to what I say to John, I can not do checkin of a new activity because there are many syntax errors. With respect to TCS / Deployer when you submit I get an error 400. I appreciate the information you can give me.

    Hi,
    I wanted to know the steps for starting web dynpro java projects using NWDI. I am getting a bit confused about the steps to be followed.
    I need to know the following.
    1) Steps to set up NWDI ( NWDI users set up, defining products, sca, dc, tracks if required)
    2) How to create a DC using NWDI, also is SCA required , if i decide on having just one application per DC ? Do we need dev, test and PRD server set up at the beginning for DTR ?
    3) Do i need to create a SCA to deploy applications ?
    Lets say i need to develop a simple application using NWDI . What would be the steps to follow along with developer, administrator responsibilites ?

    Wanted to know if we have to define the products , sca,... Cant we start directly with building one DC each for each application . e.g salesorder, purchaseorder
    i am asking this bcos i dont want to club them together in one sca as any changes during maitenance i will have to take the entire SCA for modifying.

  • Questions on NWDI server management.

    We implemented NWDI on the same server as that of the portal.
    (8GB RAM, 2.61 GHz AMD Opteron proc 285, Win 2003 OS)
    A lot of space in <b><drive>:/usr</b> is being utilised whenever I run the import in NWDI, so from time to time I will have to delete the log files to create space.
    is there any place <b>where I can default these log files to fall on a different drive location?</b>
    Also I learnt that CBS utilises lot of drive space during its operation and when I check the CBS service in Visual Admin
    <b>rootFolder is pointed to ./tem/CBS --> where is this located? I am unable to locate this?</b>

    The CBS can also point to C:/temp/CBS
    I have enough space in C: drive <b>so can I point the rootFolder to  C:/temp/CBS, will this affect the development process that is going on now?

    Yes it is possible to create distributed applications for Lync server 
    Regarding the services technically all the Lync services should be monitored since each of them is responsible of a certain workload. but the main service is the lync front end service that once it is stopped it will affect client sign-in.
    regarding monitoring the network it depends on what is the traffic that you want to monitor

  • Multiple Domains on NWDI

    Hi experts!
    I've started using NWDI, and i've noticed that i already have 23 tracks. I would like to group tracks by some kind of category.
    As far as i understand, the domain tab could function like a category to group my tracks.
    But when i go to "Domain Data" tab the field domain id is readonly and is a textbox.
    There is any way to create multiple domains, each one with ther own tracks?
    If not, there is some way to reproduce my requirements?
    I think installing CMS on another server is not really a good option because the code and development will not be integrated on one place, right?

  • Error While Creating Runtime Systems on an Existing Track in NWDI

    Hi,
    There is already a track in NWDI with No runtime Systems.
    I have to create the RunTime Systems to do development on this track.
    When I try to select the Development checkbox in Runtime systems,
    select configure  without wizard, Gave   Deploy Host name: **********.com
                Deploy Port :50018  (SDM port)
               Deploy PSWD:  SDM Pswd
    It gives me a warning..
    Synchronization of Runtime System triggered for system dev. Log can be found at

    When i go to the  log file
    I see this Error Message
    20100813180502 Info   :cannot create a connection for the buildspace:  EPQ_WHRBD_D //connect to deploy tool failed:Server <Host Name> did not accept login request as admin on port 50018. Details: ERROR: Could not establish connection to <Host name> at port 50018: Connection timed out:could be due to invalid address
    Can you please tell me what could be the Reason.
    Basis has already opened the Ports : http port and SDM Port.
    I am able to ping the server from cmd prompt.
    Points will be allocated for the answer.

    Hi,
    There's no need to update CMS or to check whether the buildspace is open, do not click on JSPM flag (unless you need nwdi control at upgrade)...
    The error message means only that from the host where you configure the RTS the SDM cannot be reached or logon request cannot be accepted.
    This can be either , because the
    - SDM password is wrong (you checked it already)
    - the port is wrong (you also checked it. If this is really a 700 RTS, i.e. it has SDM, and the instance number is 00, then the port is really 50018, so this should be fine as well. Only mention, because as of 71X we use the P4 port 5<xx>04 for the deploy controller, as there's no more SDM). Still you can use "netstat -a" to see the status of the ports.
    - The host is wrong. I agree with Dao, check not only FQDN, but also IP address.

  • Error when creating a DC in NWDI from a Local DC

    Hi Experts,
    I have created a Local DC using New -> Development Component Project.
    Now I am trying to Migrate the Local DC to NWDI DC.
    I am following the below steps to migrate.
    1. I am creating a New DC by Importing Configuration and then the SC's that are created are shown.Now I have disconnected from the NWDI.
    2. Now I am creating a NEW DC in the Local DC Window in Development Component Prepsective.
    3. After that I am copying the Folder under the Package Folder in the -local DC Project and pasting the same in the created new DC.
    Now I am getting thousands of errors, these are few examples of the same.
    1. com.sap cannot be resolved
    2. wdControllerAPI cannot be reolved
    3. the method wdGetAPI() is undefined for the type.
    Please help me in this regard.

  • Error while check-in CAF DC on NWDI "No prefix found"

    Hi experts!
    I receive The following error when I try to Check-in a CAF DC on NWDS.
    FAILED: No prefix found for development component "mycompany/name/caf/dictionary"
    Appropriate development component prefix should be configured in SLD (Restart IDE after reconfiguring SLD).;
    I already tried the solutions described on this threads:
    Error while Check-in DC's on NWDI: No Prefix found for DC
    Problem With Checkin
    CAF check-in to NWDI error
    No prefix found for development component
    None solved to me.
    After I receive that error message I did:
    - Reserved the name prefix "mycompany/name/caf" on SLD on category "Development Component Name" with purpouse "Used everywhere"
    - Enabled the option "Enable this SLD as Name Server for NWDI"
    - Registered the NWDI on SLD as "Landscape" with type "NWDI Systems" and two systems, one with type CMS and another with type SLD.
    - Stop/Start SLD
    - Stop/Start NWDI
    - Update CMS on NWDI.
    The problem is still happening. The NWDI version is 7.1 SP4.
    Any ideas?

    I have already created another workspace after all the tests just to be sure that the problem wasn´t on NWDS.
    It solved to me when I removed the reservation on SLD and recreated.
