NWDI Configuration
Hi,
We have successfully installed and made necessary post-installation steps, configurations in for NWDI system. Product, software unit, Software component were created in the SLD and Name Prefixes were also defined. I have also created users for developers in NWDI and SLD, and assigned them with role NWDI.Developer. But when the developers login they could successfully login with an error message login failed and import configuration. When we import this configuration into Developers NWDS and try to create a new DC only sap.com vendor appears and no other vendor is displayed.
What could be the issue and where i am missing? Kindly suggest on this

NWDS settings to import NWDI configurations
Hello,
I am trying to import the CMS configurations onto my NWDS. I have entered the NWDI url in Windows -> Preferences -> JDI -> Development Configuration Pool. However, when I try to log in from NWDS, it points to an old url that I had been using until recently, and thus the login fails. I have replaced the old url with the new one as mentioned.
The error I get is: Build Server http://<Old Host>:<Old Port>: Invalid Username and/or Password
I don't understand from where it is picking up the old host and port details. Is there any place else I need to change the URLs in the NWDS to import the configurations from my new NWDI server?
Thanks in Advance,
Reena
(When I had imported the NWDI configurations to my NWDS with the old server, the Development Configuration Pool was the only place I had entered the URL. I wonder why it's not working now!! )
Edited by: Reena Prabhakar on May 12, 2008 4:41 PMHi,
Follow these steps,
1. Close your NWDS.
2. Navigate to this path in your file system <installation drive>:/Documents and settings/<logged in user>
Now, delete the .dtc and .sdtgui folders from here.
3. Open your NWDS, set the new url for the sld as you specified above.
4. Try importing the configuration.

Can someone help me know the basic steps that comprise in NWDI configuration and deploying java developments... in terms of basis / developer's responsibility.
ThanksHi,
Here is the link to the document about NWDI configuration.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/
helpdata/en/44/60dc1943c2311ce10000000a155369/content.htm
Also please check if the information specified below is helpful
1. When you mark the checkbox "Integrate into JSPM scenario" the runtime
system is flagged that you do development for this system with NWDI
and therefore SAPJup will ask for new SCAs of your companys developed
software comopnents during upgrade. (This of course only works when
you already migrated your development to 7.30 release)
2. If you upgrade the DEV System, SAPJup will copy the SCAs of the
runtime system to the CMS JTrans Folder (in case it is available from
the runtime system) so that you can afterwards check in and import the
SCAs into a CMS track for the migration. (see also point 2 subpoint 2
in "Procedure" under https://cw.sdn.sap.com/cw/docs/DOC-136984)
But you can of course also copy the SCAs manually to the JTrans folder
of CMS.
Nevertheless it should also be possible to upgrade a system without
having set the flag in CMS. Then you need to take care on your own of
copying the files to CMS in case of DEV system upgrade or in case of
TEST / PROD system upgrade make sure, that for your developed software
components a 7.30 compatible version is available in the SAPJup inbox to
be included in the upgrade.
Otherwise your own developed applications might not work after the
upgrade.
Thank You.

Error in NWDI configuration using template
Hi experts,
I am trying to configure NWDI using template DI all-in-one.I am getting an error in the middle.
error :The transport folder "/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSeoepdevEPD" couldnot be created (cannot access inbox directory :/usr/sap/trans/EPS/in/CMSeoepdevEPD/CMS/inbox)
No idea of why this error is coming.I am new to NWDI.
Can somebody explain me why this error is coming?
Thanks in advance ,
Regards,
RajeshHi
the error is related to the OS folder which u cannot able to access, pls check the folder (/usr/sap/trans/EPS) exists or mounted. if you are able to access the content in /usr/sap/EPS/in----
pls give 777 or fullcontrol permissions to /usr/sap/trans/EPS/In folder ,
your basis administrator may help you in this regard.

NWDI Configuration Wizard.
I am currently following the steps in the "Configure NWDI in MII" and I am getting an error message in the initial stage of the installation.
I have navigated to http://<server>:<port>/nwa/cfg-wizard and I have clicked on Initial setup of functional unit SLD.
I selected typical configuration and entered my pwds.
I selected Setup a new local SLD server and used my server as the ObjectServerName
It fails after I press Next. the following is the error...

What is wrong with the configuration or what should I be looking at to correct this?Hi,
I belive this has no NWDI relation so far.
I think you need to ask around in a different forum what is wrong when accessing the message server:

hi,
We are trying to configure NWDI and in this process, we had completed all the steps for NWDI installation and configuration and also the CMS configuration, Product & SC Definition in SLD now during the creation of Tracks using CMS, we are not able to see the Software component created in the SLD.
Any idea how to solve this.
Thanks and regards,
KrisKris,
Couple of things, which might help:
1. Go to CMS/Landscape Configurator/Domain Data
Make sure SLD URL field has correct data and press "Update CMS" button.
CMS will sync component data from SLD. If it fails, check log files for explanation. If success, you will see new components from SLD.
2. NWDI questions are better answered if posted to NWDI forum
SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI)
There are good NWDI experts monitoring the forum.

CMS_CBS Folder Not found for NWDI Configuration
Hi All,
We are presently configuring NWDI on WAS 7.0.
We are presently stuck at a following step wherein the document asks us to pick up the following files SAP_BUILDT.sca, SAP_JTECHS.sca and SAP-JEE.sca from the folder CMS_CBS. The location mentioned in the document is /usr/sap/sid/sys/global/cms_cbs. But the folder is not present there.
Could you please let us know the reason for the folder being missing?
Thanks in advance,
Rajeet MathurHi Raj
No need of importing it.This is a latter step which i do not know whether you require or not.Documentation for 7.00 is almost similar to 630 just the only difference is with the three NWDI Components used under both. For 630 its like SAPDEVINF.SCA etc and for 7.00 its DTR_XX,CBS_XX SCA etc.
And the steps which i told you like creating manuallt folder called JTrans............
The above two things are the only differences which is important from our point of view.Rest of the procedures are same.Like creating tracks and all -
DTR /NWDI configuration on NW7.1 Mobile (DOE)
Hi There,
Is it possible to configure NWDI \ DTR on NW7.1 mobile server?I am not sure if NW7.1 has Java stack by default?
Appreciate your help.
Thanks in advance!!
Regards
DevendraHi Devendra,
I can not tell for sure, but I think there is no NWDI on NW 7.1 mobile.
NWDI was introduced with Enhancement Package 1 (EHP1) for NW 7.1 CE or sometime just 7.11.
CE is a standalone AS Java in the NW7.1 release line of netweaver. It can be installed with several, differnet usage types like composite applications, ADS Server or NWDI.
So if you want a 7.1x based NWDI go for NW 7.1 EHP1 there is an installation option for sure.
Kind regards

NWDI Configuration Update Problems in CMS
Hi,
We have done a heterogeneous migration of JDI from AIX to HPUX.
I started doing the post steps for JDI. I could successfully change the configuration parameters in the DTR (for name server, repository) and CBS (in visual Admin) to reflect the new target system names.
But when i tried to edit the configuration in the CMS, like i edited the CMS URL in the "Domain Data" and clicked "Save Domain". It could save successfully. But when i tried to do "Update CMS" it gave me the following error.
"DTR (URL http://<old JDI host name>:54000/dtr) server exception: Communication problems occured with repository "http://<old JDI host name>:54000/dtr". Unable to open connection to host "<old JDI host name>:54000". The IP address of the host could not be resolved. Maybe the URL is misspelled or the host does no longer exist.."
Also in the "Track Data" when im trying to change DTR and CBS URL's to reflect the new target systems, it is giving the following error "Unexpected error; inform your system administrator: communication error: connection/authorization problem to host http://<old host name of EP>:54000 user: administrator
Im not sure whereelse should i change the URL's of these, so that i dont get any error when updating the URL's in CMS.
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks
SouravHi Jithendra,
This is a bug in JDI. you need to open a ticket with SAP provding connection to your database so that SAP can login and do changes in the DB level. The sap note for this problem has not been released yet so you need to open a ticket with them.
Thanks

Hello All,
What is the Step by step procedure to configure NWDI in the Netweaver 7.0, SP15, Java WAS 7.0. and Step by step Procedure for creating Products, Tracks, SC etc.
Thanks.
GopalThanks a lot for the valuable help your providing till now....
I havent done anything with SLD till now... Once i installed and upgraded my server i started to work with "Initial setup of functional unit Development Infrastructure (DI all-in-one)" ...
yeah... http://<host>:<port>/devinf, is working fine and i was able to log in to CMS and i was able to find a track SANDBOX created and in the Transport Studio 's Development tap i was able to find sap.com_SAP-JEE (waiting for Import), sap.com_SAP_BUILDT(waiting for Import), sap.com_SAP_JTECHS(import failed) components.
By Skiping that error process i was able to successfully able to create a track called SANDBOX and in http://<...>:<...>/devinf under show track list iwas able to view
SANDBOX ( ID: SANDBOX | Desc: Sandbox for Learning, Demo and Prototyping )
Development
CMS: Change Management Service
CBS: Component Build Service ( http://<...>:<...>)
DTR: Design Time Repository ( http://<....>:<...>/dtr )
Consolidation
CMS: Change Management Service
CBS: Component Build Service ( http://<...>:50000 )
DTR: Design Time Repository ( http://<...>:<...>/dtr )
And in my NWDS i tried to import the development configurations but am getting this following error

Unexpected error; inform your system administrator: <null>
I got a solution in SAP notes as following:
The following error message is displayed when you save the configuration of an existing track:
Unexpected error;inform your system administrator: For input string: " "
Other terms
Data conversion, NWDI, CMS, Change Management Service
Reason and Prerequisites
" " default values for new fields in CMS were inadvertently delivered for new fields in CMS.
Solution
Execute the following SQL statements on the database of your J2EE application server:
UPDATE cms_cdevconf SET DTCVERSION = null WHERE DTCVERSION = ' '
UPDATE cms_cdevconf SET DTCPATH = null WHERE DTCPATH = ' '
The problem has only occurred previously on ORACLE.
I executed the sql sentence through VA, but it's not work.
Any input is thoroughly appreciated.

Migrate Visual Composer to NWDI in NWDS
Hi,
we are trying to migrate Visual Composer DCs from local development to NWDI. We are using NWDS only and not the browser version of VC.
In the development infrastructure perspective it is possible to move (or copy) the DCs from local to shared. However, in the VC perspective the project is created but it does not show any models there.
Does somebody have experience in migrating VC to NWDI using NWDS?
Thanks,
KevinHi Kevin,
I was having the same problem and managed to do it eventually. The solution was a little bit painful...
First you need to configure the web version of VC to work with NWDI : Configuring Visual Composer to Work with NWDI - Configuring Composition Environment Platform - SAP Library
Then you do the workaround of note 1474660
If everything was OK, you will be able to see the SC in NWDS development infrastructure perspective
If I remember correctly, in the configuration I mentioned at 1st bullet, it can only be done with CMS and not CM tracks. So in case you have CM you can copy/paste as you described at your post and now it won't be blank.
Finally, something that happened to me, if you open your model and the services(web services, R3 data etc) are empty, you search them again and drag and drop them on top of the empty ones so you won't have to delete them and create them again.
Sorry if I forget something but it was a long time ago that I did it.
