NWDS for EHP1 Perspectives

Dear,
I installed the NWDS for EHP1 by unzipping "NWDS_plaform.zip". When I open the NWDS inside the unzipped folder and try to change the perspective to Process Modeling, it's just not there. I've got 3 perspectives, all which seem to be standard eclipse perspectives :
Debug, Resource, Team Synchonizing.
I went to the menu Help > Software Updates > Find and Install > Search for New Features to Install. I selected "EHP 1 for SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.1 Update Site" and when trying to log on I used our company's S-number. The same we used to download CE EHP1 ... This gives errors : 403 Forbidden. Obviously this isn't the login/pw I should be using ...
Any help? I desperately need the Process Modelling tool by now ...
Thanks in advance,
Frederik-Jan Roose

First of all, using the 710 updater site would work. It gives configuration errors but I can access without problems. So authentication is definitely not the problem.
Romit, the installation guide of NWDS for EHP1 specifically states :
This is an installer free procedure, you will have to do the following steps :
- Unpack the NetWeaver Developer Studio Platform.
- During the first start you will be asked for the your local Java SE runtime environment JDK 5.0.x javaw.exe (NWDS will not work with JRE and is not released for JDK 6.0.x)
- After restart you will be prompted for your local update site, which contains the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio features.
"The NWDS_platform.zip file contains the kernel of NWDS. The kernel does not contain the SAP features necessary to develop SAP NetWeaver applications. The SAP features are installed with the update manager."
However, there is a way to circumvent this faulty updater site :
The installation folder of NWDS for EHP1 contains a folder 'features' and 'plugins'. Just drag and drop the contents into your eclipse folder. Once you find, it's real easy. That's it ... (why can't they say this in the manual, or anywhere, or make it so by default, this is beyond me!)

No, you need Vista SP2 or higher.  About all you can do is add your iCloud email account using these settings: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864, then check your other iCloud data by going to icloud.com from your browser.

    Hi experts,
how to install mdk in nwds for creating mobile applications?
    reward points for appropriate answer.
    Thank you,
    G.V.K.Prasd

    HI,
MDK is already integrated in NWDS. Separate MDK download is only necessary in case you want to use Eclipse as single DEV environmant without the full blown NWDS orwant to develop for earlier versions like MI7.0.
So very important: separate MDK does only support MI7.0 and earlier versions. If this is your intention, simply download MDK plugin, extract the folder, have a look into the download subfolder and you see the ECLIPSEPLUGIN.ZIP file in there. Unzip this as well and then put the related stuff into the FEATURES and the PLUGINS folder of Eclipse. After restarting Eclipse open the settings and add the buttons to the view and configure the correct settings for your system. This is the normal stuff like for every Eclipse plugin. Not 100% sure if this is not included in NWDS as well already.
If you are not sure about PLUGINS and FEATURES stuff and the configuration - the MDK itself has a great documentation that shows the steps you need to follow.

  • NWDS for 64 bit Windows 7

    Hi Folks,
I want to install NWDS on my Windows 7 64-bit OS. I searched for suitable NWDS(like 7.0, CE7.1, CE7.2 along with their trial versions), but they were available only for 32-bit Windows.
Can you please provide some links where I can download NWDS for 64 bit Windows(any trial version)? I want to learn BPM and WDJ.
    Really appreciate your help.

    Hi,
    check this thread too:
NWDS not showing SAP specific Eclipse extensions
(this includes a note for clarification).
Further, the Product Availibility Matrix is indeed a bit misleading (we will soon make it more obvious).
The thing is that NWDS is supported on 64bit platforms, but the JDK has to be 32bit. So only JDK is supported (no JRE) and even if your platform is 64bit, JDK has to be 32bit.

  • Steps required to create Jar in NWDS for import in XI and use in UDF. Help!

    Hi !
I'm a Java newbie. I've been reading about ejbs, NWDS, etc., but don't know how to set up a project in NWDS for the purpose of creating a jar file with a java class inside with methods to be called insde a UDF in graphical mapping. I understand that the imports inside the java class depend on each case. What type of project do I need to create in NWDS? Where do I put the class methods?
    Thanks,
    Matias.

    Hi Bhavesh !
Thats exactly what I meant. Ok, and after writing all my methods, I've noticed I can go to Project | Rebuild All, to get my ".class" files generated..
After that step, I can use the command line or a zip utility to make the .zip or .jar with all my .class files. Am I right ??
There is no "Build JAR Archive" option for this kind of project..Am I doing something wrong?
    Thanks,
    Regards,
    Matias.

  • Importing existing only WAR file in NWDS for deployment on WAS

    Hi,
I have WAR file created on the eclispe platform by someone. I am required to import that into NWDS and embed into EAR and then deploy on WAS.
However, i found no direct way to import existing only WAR file into NWDS. Simply importing a file in the web module project will only copy the contents, without that getting extracted.
Kindly let me know in detail, how to acheive the same.
    Regards,
    Apeksha

    Hi,
don't worry. It will work. If done this with a Web Application I received from a vendor. Normally it is deployed on Tomcat but we had to integrate the functionality into SAP Portal / SAP Web AS.
So I just created an empty Web Module Project and the Enterprise Project, linked them and built the EAR.
I just replaced the empty WAR in the generated EAR with the WAR I received from my Vendor and deployed it on SAP J2EE using Visual Admin.
In general you should be able to deploy every WAR on every APP Server with a servlet engine that conforms the SUN J2EE Specifications (SAP J2EE does)!
Does this mean that Web module project is never executed, since that WAR added in the EAR is only getting executed?
I don't really understand this question? The result of your Web Module Built is the WAR file. By linking it to your EAR you just achieve that the WAR File is put into EAR when you build the EAR. Since your Web Module Project has the same name as your WAR File (I hope it does) you just pretend that the WAR File you are putting in the EAR replacing the empty one was the one that was built within NWDS.
The Web Module is the one that is being executed after deployment. It contains all the Code. The Enterprise App is just a wrapper around it. I don't know why it is not possible to directly deploy a WAR File to J2EE.
It could be that you get some problems with Libraries in your Web App that also exist on J2EE (e.g. Java Mail)
I had the problem with Java Mail. The Version in WebApp was newer than the one used in J2EE so some functionality did not work at the beginning. Since there seems to be no way to tell the J2EE Classloader to load the Child Libraries first instead of parent I had to replace the mail.jar in SAP J2EE with my own one.
You will probably not even face such a problem so just ignore it for now!!
Unpack the WAR to some folder in your local filesystem using a ZIP Program. Then open your File Browser (e.g. Windows Explorer if you are on Windows) and put your NWDS besides it. Then just drag and drop the files from your File Explorer to NWDS using the Resource Perspective (as described above)
It is some manual work but there is no other way around this if you want to build your Web App in NWDS in order to avoid exchanging the WAR in your EAR everytime you deploy it!
If you have further questions let me know
    Cheers

  • How to print line numbers in NWDS for Java?

    Hi everyone,
does someone know how to print out program code with line numbers from the Netweaver Developer Studio for Java? This is inevitable for code reviews.
In Eclipse 3.4 this issue is solved. Is there possibly such a patch for NWDS as well?
    Thanks,
    Maria

    Hi Pascal,
thanks for the quick reply. The setting you mention displays line numbers on the screen alright, but printing out does not work.
We use: SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio for SAP NetWeaver 7.1 SP06 PAT0000, Build id: 200807051938.
I guess it just does not work, because it was fixed only for Eclipse 3.4, and the above NWDS version bases on Eclipse 3.3.
What do you recommend for code inspections - copy/paste into PSPad or do you know a more comfortable practice?
    Greetings

  • NWDS for PI 7.4 Dual stack

    Dear All
I am on SAP PI 7.4 dual stack which NWDS version should i use because i tried with both NWDS 7.3 and NWDS 7.31 also
NWDS 7.3 its not connecting at all it says improper configuration
NWDS 7.31 connected to ESR and but ID it says only for single stack.
    Can you please help
    Regards
    Sandeep

    Hi,
There is no dedicated NWDS 7.40, the NWDS 7.31 is also to be used for NW 7.40 (see also the note 1791485).
For NW server 7.40 SP<X> one has to use NWDS 7.31 SP<X+5>.

  • Sample Adapter - Error in NWDS for import stmt of class PermissionMode

    Hello,
I downloaded the latest code of Sample Adapter from the SAPNote 1004000.
I am trying to build the code in SAP NWDS. I am getting an error for the import statements -
    import com.sap.aii.security.lib.KeyStoreManager;
    import com.sap.aii.security.lib.PermissionMode;
I looked into the jar for the package com.sap.security. There is no 'lib' folder inside this. These two class are also not in any of the folders and subfolders in this package.
Now for the KeyStoreManager Class, I found a jar sap.comtcjekeystore_apiAPI.jar which contain a class by the name of KeystoreManager in the package com.sap.engine.interfaces.keystore.
    1. Is this KeystoreManager the same class file as KeyStoreManager?
    2. In which jar can I find the class PermissionMode ?
    Best Regards,
    Neeraj
Edited by: Neeraj Kumar on Aug 20, 2009 10:44 AM

    Hello Neeraj,
Now as I mentioned earlier, when I go to com.sap.aii.security package in the jar com.sap.aii.sec.svc_api.jar there is no 'lib' folder. Also there is no security.class in any of the subfolders in com.sap.aii.security .
    - In PI7.1 security.class is in folder ext, check whether you can find the folder ext.
    - Your SampleAdapter has already implementation code in it, as you mentioned in the source there are import statements, so the point to focus is to make your source error free, after compile.
    - In case you have the sap.comtcsecssfcore.jar added to your build path, try to reimport the two classes, still if it show error try to close and open your module project.

  • Predicates for XPath in Condition Editor of NWDS for PI AEX 7.4 (SP 7)

    Dear all,
we are in the middle of migrating from our old Dual Stack PI 7.0 to our new PI 7.4 AEX.
We have a fairly largen receiver determination on the old system that makes heavy use of predictes. One expression for example looks like this
    (SHPMNT05/IDOC/E1EDT20/E1EDL20/E1EDL37/E1EDL49/E1EDL50[XSIQUALF='EEIVERF']/VLABDATA = 01)
However, when I'm trying to insert this in NWDS' condition editor there's an error stating "Predicates are only allowed with EXISTS operator"
    1. Is this a limitation of the condition editor in NWDS?
    2. Is there a way to configure the above XPath so it is working in NWDS?
    3. Would it be safe / wise to configure the mappig in ICO in Swing Tool or would this be overwritten by NWDS configuraiton?
    Many thanks
    Jens

    Hi Jens
From SAP library, the example shows that the usage of predicate is with the EX operator, so maybe it is a limitation.
    Integration Directory - SAP Library
Maybe you can try to combine your two conditions in the predicate and use it with the EX operator
    (SHPMNT05/IDOC/E1EDT20/E1EDL20/E1EDL37/E1EDL49/E1EDL50[XSIQUALF='EEIVERF' and VLABDATA = '01'] EX)

  • Use the new CE 7.1 NWDS for developing 7.0 Portal Applications

    Hi all,
We currently evaluate which would be the best development studio for our development. Of course I know the SAP Guideline "use the same NWDS as your support package stack". This would mean we have to use NW 7.0 SPS 16. But we realized there is a new Eclipse Version within CE 7.1 NWDS.
So the question is, could we also use the new NWDS, is it compatible with 7.0 or did anybody try something in the way we want to do?
    Thanks for your help,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
You might want to consider using the "federated portal network" (FPN) capabilities of SAP NetWeaver 7.0 and CE7.1.
FPN in this case allows you can utilize the full composition capabilities of NWCE7.1 to develop applications and then render them in a central 7.0 runtime environment (portal). This is loosely called the "side-car approach".

  • How to use CVS in NWDS for MDK

    Hi All,
We are working on customizing MAM3.0, we need help on using CVS to manage developments.
We in the team are 3 members and the development is depending on each other.
We are using NWDS 7.XX, can somebody help us in using CVS / DTR to resolve conflicts in developments.
Your help in this regard is well appriceated.
    Merry christmas, n'joy holidays.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Sai. K. K

    Hi,
You can use an open source CVS . However, if you have NWDI, it already provides the DTR for version control. The link you provided is about the option to use a third party CVS if you don't want to use NWDI, it is not a requirement.
