NX-OS Nexus 7018 License-id for Chassis or Supervisor

Hello,
For a single chassis supervisor, if we have license for VDC for 7018 Chassis, and we want to change the single supervisor with a spare one, can we install the backed-up license from the supervisor to the new supervisor. This is important because if the license is chassis based, we may be able to use the same license file for the spare supervisor, or if it is supervisor based we may need to contact TAC for a license rehosting procedure.
Also, if a grace period starts for a demo purpose, and after 120 Day grace period, is it possible to repeat the demo or poc with restarting the grace period, or a license needs to be bought?

On the NX-OS Licensing guide it mentions about the serial number of the device (but we could not be sure if the device means chassis or supervisor)
Obtaining the License Key File
You can obtain new or updated license key files.
Procedure
Step 1
Obtain the serial number for your device by entering the show license host-id command. The host ID is also referred to as the device serial number.switch# show license host-idLicense hostid: VDH=FOX064317SQ
Tip
Use the entire ID that appears after the equal sign (=). In this example, the host ID is FOX064317SQ.

License is based on chassis serial number seen under show inventory. If you look at the License file name it is named with chassis serial number. If you replace the supervisor you do not need to transfer license by calling TAC but you can copy the license file to new supervisor bootflash and run install license command from bootflash to install license into new supervisor.

About Nexus 7018 Switching Capacity

Hi,
Does anyone know the maximum switching capacity of Nexus 7018?
Can I say the capacity is 230Gbps*16 since the fabric architecture provides 230Gbps per slot with 5 fabric modules?
In the datasheet, Nexus 7018's performance is 960Mpps (Ipv4 unicast) in combination with supervisor and fabric modules.
How to calculate the performance 960Mpps?

Hi Chien-Hsing Wu, I just ran into this post, sorry I couldn´t reply to your original one. Since I did not see an explanation on how to get 960 Mpps, I included one for you:
The 960 Mpps number you mentioned is calculated taking in account modules with one M1 forwarding engine, which is the case for modules such as N7K-M132XP-12, for example. Other modules use a M1 forwarding engine (some newer modules use even 2 forwarding engines).
The "M1" indicates the forwarding engine is M Series, first generation and is capable of delivering 60 Mpps of Layer 2 and 3 IPv4 unicast or 30 Mpps of IPv6 unicast for all ports on that module.
You can use up to 16 I/O Modules on the 7018, which brings the 16 (forwarding engines)* 60 (mpps if M1) = 960 Mpps.
Be aware that more recent modules use even dual M1-XL forwarding engines, delivering 120 Mpps L2 and 3 IPv4 unicast or 60 Mpps IPv6, and others use F1 forwarding engines, delivering 480 Mpps of distributed L2 unicast per module.
On the other hand, regarding the calculations you suggest with 230 Gbps, some documentation shows 7.8 Tbps as total switching capacity for the 7018. You get that number assuming you are using Fabric 1 modules, or Fabric modules from 1st generation. If this is the case, calculation is as follows:
     230 Gbps per slot for the I/O related slots
     115 Gbps for the supervisors
     (16 * 230) + (2 * 115) = 3910 Gbps, and taking in account full duplex transmission we multiply this by 2 and get the 7.8 Tbps.
As mentioned by Amit Singh, if we use Fabric 2 modules each slot could *potentially* use 550 Gbps (depending on the module), which is the total crossbar bandwidth available for each slot if your chassis is equiped with 5 Fabric 2 modules, as opposed to the 230 Gbps when the fabric modules are 1st generation modules.

Nexus 5596 Licensing question

Hi this might be an easy one but doing my head in.
Do the ports on the 5596up (all 48) come fully licensed?
We're looking at installing the following modules into the above N2K-C2232PP and N2K-C2248TP.
What we need to figure out is basic licensing for this model.
I know from dealing with the 6248up that only 12 ports come licensed.
Does anyone have a link to default licenses enabled on Nexus kit.

Hello Liam,
Licenses for Nexus 5500 are based on the features that you want to run on it.
Fabric EXtenders ( FEX ) does not require licenses.

Photoshop CC is the equivalent of CS7... and it is available ONLY by paying for a monthly subscription... your CS6 serial number does not work for CC

Remote Desktop Licensing Server for multiple deployments

Hi all. I'm towards a project of implementing 4 deployments of RDS in branch offices and 1 in head office. Those tend to be VMs on Server 2012 R2.
I've began collecting info from technet and even found that great post:

If all machines are in the same domain a single license server will be fine. you will just need to add the licence server to your individual deployments via server manager. We have a single license server for 2003TS, 2012RDS 2012citrix VDI and 2008 Citrix

We do not have a license requirement for BeehiveOnline as this is a service provided by oracle for Oracle customers, partners etc. to allow them to work more efficiently with Oracle. It is not a system that the customer can control as the groups are maintained by the Oracle,contact.
We rely on the normal terms and conditions that all users sign up to when they create an oracle.com website account.
So in short - it is a free-to-use service licensed under the same agreement as the normal oracle.com websites acount.

How Do I get a License key for Trial version from the App Store?

I downloaded a Trial version of Aperture 3.1.2 a few weeks ago from the App Store. I love it. Now I want to buy it, but, can't figure out how to get a license key from the App Store. When you start up Aperture Trial version, a 'nag' box comes up asking if you want to buy the application or continue using the trial version or Authorize (I guess that is what you would pick once you have the key). If I pick "Buy", the application opens Safari and takes me to the Apple online store, NOT the App store! At the Apple Store, you can buy the key for $199 or an upgrade from a previous version for $99. Whoopie! What is Apple thinking? The App store is selling Aperture for $79.99. I guess that means you don't get the box or written manuals (which I haven't used for any software in many years).
So how do I get a license key for the App Store version? Do I just Go to the App Store, pay the money, download and install the program over again. Then transfer my trial version library somehow? Then deinstall the trial version? I'd love to buy and use Aperture for $79.99, but, I'm not willing to pay $199 for it. Apple has me confused.
Anybody have a clue?

P.S. I'm quite willing to put in the time and effort necessary to learn Aperture (or any other software I decide to use, "Pro" or not). I simply don't see the value in buying the box version when I'm pretty sure I won't be using any paper manuals. I very comfortable using online help files, having done so as a professional numerical control programmer for many years in my work. For reference, I'm retired, on a limited income and will be using Aperture as a rank amateur photographer who could use a little more horsepower than iPhoto offers.

How many large install licenses required for a 5.x deployment?

I have been trying to determine the correct license requirement for a 5.x install. There will be 1 primary server and six secondary servers. It is very clear that I need the base license for each ACS instance, but the documentation notes that for greater than 500 devices (IPs) that a large install license is needed for each ACS deployment. Does this mean that each ACS appliance instance will require a unique Large Install license or I only need one license (presumably installed on primary) and that will cover the IP requirements for all my secondaries?

Hi,
CON-SU1-AS2A10K9 contract if for ASA+IPS bundle. If AIP-SSM-10 ws purchased as a spare the contract would be CON-SU1-ASIP10K9.
I am not sure whether or not this Cisco Service for IPS contract can be used to cover just the AIP-SSM-10 if it was purchased as part of a Bundle instead of a Spare.
I would recommend that you check with your Cisco reseller or Cisco Sales Representative.
