NX6600GT can't enable DOT - WinSys already running

I'm new at this and I can't find this info anywhere on the forum.
When I go to the Display Properties / MSI Clock tab and try to enable DOT I get an error that WinSys is already running and it turns the enable DOT feature off.
I have and have been doing a lot of this
Any sugestions ???

When I got the NX6600GT card I used the Driver that was on the install CD then I went to the MSI site and it did not have any newer drivers to install.
When I looked at the add/remove programs there are no MSI divers only nVidia
To be clear I was following Glenns instructions.
I did not have any MSI drivers showing in add/remove programs I only had the nVidia display drivers.
I removed the nVidia display drivers through the add/remove programs
ran ad-aware, removed the worm
then I downloaded the nVidia driver 77.72 from the nVidia site
I still have the 77.72_win2kxp_english_whql.exe file on the desktop in case you need me to reinstall it again.
installed the nVidia driver 77.72 from saved file on desktop
when I was reinstalling the nVidia driver I made sure my Norton AV was disabled so it would not interfere with the install.

MrBigA I am going to look into the Coolbits when this is resolved, maybe more things that I'm not aware of are not working properly in the back ground.

When I try to open firefox it says an update is ready to apply, but when I click ok it says it can not because firefox is already running.

When I double click Firefox it says an update is ready to be applied. Would you like to apply it now? I click yes and a green bar starts to fill, at about 3/4 it beeps twice it says it could not be completed because another instance of Firefox is already running, please close it and retry. However, the only program my task-manager shows is the update.

Did you check the Processes tab in the Task Manager? 
You may also have other (security) software that is having a file handle open on some of the files. 
In that case you may need to download the full version and delete the Firefox program folder before installing that downloaded update.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.
Your above posted system details show outdated plugin(s) with known security and stability risks that you should update.

Problems enabling dot

Hi all,
noob here. I've never been able to enble dot on my 865 neo2-ls board. How is it done? In the bios I don't see any option and under 'MSI Clock' in 'Display Properties' I can't enable DOT or pick Private(1), Seagent(2), etc.
Any help is appreciated.

When I attempt to open firefox an error message appears telling me that firefox is already running, but I can't find it running. How do I do so or in any case close the already running Firefox process?

To open another window please close the existing Firefox process or restart the system.", but I can't find that process of Firefox in order to kill it, and after restarting the system there is still the problem. Firefox that then opens is that one doesn't carry over what I had in my bookmarks but starts bookmarks anew.

Sounds like it is hanging when you exit and later try to restart Firefox.

After closing out, FF will not restart, says it is already running forcing me to reboot. I have removed and re-installed FF and still get the same message when trying to open the internet using FF. How can this be fixed?

When I close out Firefox, and return later to use the internet, I click on Firefox and it gives me a message stating that Firefox is already running and needs to be closed before restarting or reboot my system. This occurs every time Firefox is closed and attempt to re-start it,,, not only at times,,,, EVERY time.
I have tried removing Firefox from my system and re-installing to fix this issue however,,, this did not work. After re-installing, I still get the same message when attempting to restart Firefox.

I had the same problem (update failed for normal user, update worked for administrator, but then normal user still got asked about installing the update even though it was already done).
Following the advice on http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_update#Software_Update_not_working_properly worked for me, in particular to remove the update-related xml files.

V6.01, Windows 7, click on icon, "firefox is already running but not responding" Task manager doesn't know about it. I can't quit it or get it to load. Brand new install. What to do?

Brand new Lenovo computer, Windows 7 Home. New install of Firefox 6.0.1, set as default browser, don't launch when I click done. Icon appears in tray. I click the icon, and a message says "firefox is running but not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing process, or reboot". It's not obviously running. I can't find a way to make it quit. Task manager doesn't list it as a current application. Uninstall using the control panel uninstall function and then reinstalling gives the same message. Rebooting doesn't fix the problem and gives the same message. Firefox had been working until I tried to update my bookmarks.

No can do. I can delete the current profile and install Firefox, which should create a new blank profile. The message still says "Firefox is already running." I can place my old profile in the proper folder, and Firefox will still be already running. I can't actually use Firefox, because even though the message says it is running, there is nothing on the screen I can access.
After uninstalling Firefox, deleting the two items left in the Programs folder, and deleting the profile again, it still didn't work. I then got frisky and from the Roaming folder I deleted the Mozilla folder which contains the Firefox folder which contains the now empty Profiles folder. That worked, and a new set of folders with a new blank profile were created. So apparently it was the empty folders that never got deleted that were causing the issue.

When I close Firefox and then try to open it, it says it is already running and I have to close it which I can't do. The only way to open it is to first restart my computer which is a pain. If I can't fix this I will use an other brouser!

I am not sure what more I can tell you. I close firefox. So when I click on the icon it should allow me to open it again but I get a message that says it is already running. Either close it out which I can't do since I already did that or restart the computer.

Try holding control, alt and delete down in succession and then a dialogue box will appear with windows task manager. Once open click on the Processes Tab and look for firefox.exe. Highlight this and then click end process. It should come up with a warning but just click Yes. This should then close firefox and allow you to reopen it from your desktop without shutting down your computer. Hope this helps.

When I use a GSI external antenna for WiFi I first get a message that "Firefox is already running but not responding etc", and then Firefox crashes. Can anyone help please?

Because of weak WiFi signal I need to use an external antenna (GSI USB wireless WIFI long range network adapter). My computer can see the signal clearly and shows that I am connected to the right network. But when I try to launch Firefox I get a message that "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. It looks like Firefox is having trouble "seeing" the signal from the external antenna. What do I need to do please?

Try Ubuntu support, I don't think your problem is with Firefox - it will use the connection that the Operating System "makes". I'm a real noob with Ubuntu myself, and don't think I can help you figure out the problem.

How can I enable embedded pl/sql gateway to run on port 80

I have a new 11G install on OEL 4.0, database created. I would like to be
able to access the instance using the pl/sql gateway. Works fine with
port 8080, the default. How to I enable it to run on port 80?

I've tried setting the listener file permissions:

chmod 6775 /u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/db_1/bin/tnslsnr
Also put root in the dba group.
The permissions turn out like this:

I stopped the listener, bounced the database, and started the listener again.
But it still shows the process being owned by oracle:
