NX6600GT-TD128E + NX6600GT-VDT128 in SLI mode

Hi, i got a cuestion for you my friends.
My PC originaly have one video card model NX6600GT-TD128E first model, it has been a good player in this gaming world, but i want to upgrade to SLI. I found on EBAY an option wich is the same card but VIVO edition, model NX6600GT-VDT128 first model. I want to know if i can use it on SLI configurtation with my existing card. My mobo is a MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI. If there`s a problem with this particular configuration, Can i use another 6600GT but from different vendor?
Thanks, i will apreciate your comments

NickNitrux,
With the latest ForceWare Drivers, you can even use two Vid Cards from different companies in SLI as long as they are the same chipset.
Always glad to help.
Take Care,
Richard
P.S. Do not forget to report back when you get it.

  • K8N+SLI Mode - Need help

    Hello,
I was going to buy the second graphic card for my computer to work in SLI Mode. Nowadays I am using:
    MSI GeForce 6600 128MB DDR3/128 bit TV/DVI/VIVO PCI-Express (8979-06S)(NX6600-VTD128E Diamond)
so I went to the shop, in which I always buy computer parts and got there an information that this card is no more available
The only two models of MSI Graphic cards (based on 6600 chipset) that are available are:
    MSI GF 6600 128MB/128b TV/DV PCI-E MS-8981-Z02
    And
    MSI GeForce 6600GT 128MB DDR3/128bit TV/DVI PCI-Express (8983-010) (NX6600GT-TD128E)
Will any of the mentioned card work with my MSI GeForce 6600 128MB DDR3/128 bit TV/DVI/VIVO PCI-Express (8979-06S)(NX6600-VTD128E Diamond)?
    Please HELP ME!

try to boot with 2 memory sticks only, when using 4 sticks setup memory index to 333. (Winchester core had bad mem. controller on it aswell, it may not handle 4 sticks property)

next thing is your PSU, doesn't look to have enough juices for your VGA. VGA min req.(over 30A on +12V for single rail, over 22A for dual rail +12V by ATI)
    your PSU got +12V1 17A, +12V2 17A

  • SLI clip failure, SLI mode selector card will not stay in place

Sometime overnight, the rubber clip securing my SLI mode selector card failed, and now the card won't stay seated in the socket.
Part of the clip that seats through the motherboard broke, and now I cannot use the clip at all. Where would I obtain replacements for this piece?
    -El Queso

I have a few extra ones that came with my motherboard. they were in a little plastic pouch, did you not get any included? i would call MSI and ask them to mail you some, otherwise, i would gladly mail you a few myself.

  • Crashing issue with dual cards not in SLI mode

Running CS6 on a HPZ820 with 64GB RAM and TWO Nividia Quadro4000s... having some crashing issues - DisplaySurface.dll error. I am NOT running cards in SLI mode. Any ideas? I have some NewBlueFX plug-ins that I disabled the GPU - that helped. But now it started crashing again with same error. System was built up to specs.
    Any advice?

Does it crash if you remove one of the cards?

  • X205-sli1 64bit windows 7 won't recognize sony camera anymore and SLI mode flicker

I suspect this is more a windows 7 driver issue than a laptop issue, but does anyone have any ideas?
    background:
so, started with X205-sli1 default a month ago, since then it has gotten... 4gb ram, dual 500gb drives, and a T9500 CPU  (was running at 85c when idle before so as long as I was redoing the heatsink compond I upgraded the CPU, now runs at 40c when idle and faster).... anybody need a T7250 that works? pm me.
afterwards formated and put windows 7 64bit on it...   since then loaded all the drivers from toshiba website and everthing seems to work fine except it won't recognize the sony DSCW90 camera as a mass storage device like it did before.  The camera still works fine on another system running ubuntu, so I know the camera/cable are good.
second problem, even with the latest nvidia driver I get a nasty flicker when I enable the SLI mode, seems to be driver related....
    Thanks,
    Robert
p.s. the instructions lorddethstalker's signature are spot on for how to do the upgrade... thanks.

I long ago learned when I do an OS install I do a clean one with a complete wipe of the drive... read the instructions and seems about right...
I seem to recall something from way back with a similar problem when I first got the camera... I just don't remember the solution...
Clean installs were the way to go in my thinking as well. However, because of some glitches like this, I would mention a couple of things.
Probably the best way to go, would have been to first have done a full system Toshiba Recovery of your Vista 32 OS, drivers, etc, to your system's factory default out-of-the-box setup. Nice and clean no messy software/hardware updates/installs to mess it up. Then, after that to have done an in place upgrade to Windows 7 32bit. I think you would have had the least amount of trouble from everything I've learned on this forum, and from my own personal experience.
Next, while I fully understand the hyped benefits of the Windows 7 64bit version, the reality can be somewhat different. First, though it has a 64bit capability, your system was originally designed as a 32bit system, supplied with the appropriate 32 bit OS, and as such, it can only take a maximum of 4GB or RAM. Despite your percieved benefit of seeing/using the full 4GB of RAM, this is probably, at the very least, un-done by the fact that your old 32bit software actually runs faster on Windows 7 32bit. If your system could handle more than 4GB of RAM, and especially if you were willing to invest in new 64bit software, it would have been worthwhile to install Windows 7 64bit. Otherwise, I sincerely doubt that it was.
The main chipset and its drivers are what handles the USB ports. If you did (re)install those, from the links I gave you before, there's not much else you can do there. While it is not the same problem you are experiencing, the only other suggestions I have is to follow the instructions in Method 3 of this article:
USB port may stop working after you remove or insert a USB device
Did you ever try the system reset I mentioned before?
    Good luck.
    Mike

  • Diamond Plus SLI mode?

Ok, now when I have installed all chipset drivers, I'd like to enable SLI mode. But how can I do that? I have set two GF 6800 with SLI bridge and windows find that second card, but there are no enable SLI mode anywhere.
What is the trick to do that? In manual read's only that plug two cards with bridge, nothing else.
BTW. The lower heatsink is very hot, I think. You can hardly put finger on it. Is it normal?

I know with the vid drivers one should uninstall the old ones before intalling the new ones, but what about the nForce drivers? I've never updated them before so what is the protocol?
If you're using Nforce 2/3 you need not have to update it to the latest drivers the best drivers is Ver5.10 If you're using the Nforce4 then you've to updates it the latest drivers from Nvidia website. Of course you'll see alot of listing in the Nvidia driver and you need to select Nvidia AMD.As for the VGA you also need to updates it to the latest driver. GD luck.

Best Drivers for MSI 6600GT in SLI mode

When i first tried that both cards were healthy and operated fine in non-SLI mode. Tried again 1-2 days later and one card gave coloured blocks all over the screen.
Yup, one card was in the process of croaking so giving random effects. Now thoroughly dead and on the way back for exchange.
    Thanks for looking and answering.

    Thank you!
Yep, the SLI Bridge is connected on both PC. The result is similar on the PC1 and PC2... same problem. I've tried some games like Call of Duty 2, Tomb Raider and Prey optimised for Nvidia/SLI

  • Enable SLI mode on K8N SLI Platinum

Hello, I got an older AMD64 3500+ CPU on a MSI K8N Platinum SLI motherboard, model 7100 (with a flip-board SLI switch), 2x512Mb DDR400 Corsair XMS512C2 memory, a Soundblaster Live! 4.1 soundcard on a PCI slot and two GeForce 7950 GT 512Mb DDR3 PCI-E cards. Power is supplied by a Corsair HX620 620W with separate power cables to each card. No signs of instability on the system whatsoever (no overclocking applied). Built-in sound card, Firewire, RAID and other integrated peripherals disabled in BIOS.
I recently got the second GFX card from a friend, and they are likely not from the same manufacturer. I have installed both cards, flipped the SLI board to "SLI mode", installed the SLI bridge that came with the motherboard, yet I can't get SLI to fire up. Both cards have exactly the same BIOS revision and exactly the same clock speed (core and memory) when checked with the ESA tools from Nvidia.
I have reinstalled the newest Nforce4 and Geforce drivers, but to no avail. Both cards are installed and enabled in Windows XP (32bit SP3), but I don't get any options for SLI in the control panel, and I don't see any performance difference in-game. I have looked in the BIOS for SLI-enable-settings but found none.
Is there anything else I can do to enable SLI mode for the system? Or are the cards simply incompatible? Reflashing with some stock BIOS on both cards, can that make them compatible? Or is maybe the SLI bridge not seated properly? What exactly ARE the requirements for two cards to match, anyway?
Further, does anyone know the real-world implications of disabled PCI prefetch, as this was disabled in the last update for the motherboard? I use a PCI soundcard, and have some performance issues in games that seems to be somewhat correlated to sounds being played.
    Best regards, Martin "xarragon" Persson

    which one? http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=searchresult&keywords=NX7950GT
Min seems to be the "MSI NX7950GT - VT2D512EZ - HD", latter one with VIVO support. It does have passive cooling using heatpipes, and a sticker on it says what I put in double quotes above. That would be this card:

The sticker/model name for the ASUS card says:
    ASUS P455 REV: 1.00
    EN7950GT/HTDP/512M/A
I suppose it ought to be this card? http://www.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=5XmjRmrwz3r9rWuv
I have also used GPU-Z to pull the following info from the ards, when they were connected one-by-one to the primary PCI-E 16X slot with the SLI bridge set to "non-SLI" mode.
    GPU-Z: MSI BX7950GT-VT2D512EZ-HD:

    GPU-Z: For ASUS P445
    GPU: G71 Revision: A2
    Device ID: 10DE-0295
    BIOS Version: 5.71.22.42.06
    Subvendor: ASUS (1043)
    ROPs: 16
    Bus interface: PCI-E x16 @ x16

    Bandwidth: 44.8 GB/s

Both cards work fine, with the MSI card being slightly hotter due to the passive cooling. The ASUS one got an aftermarket Zalman VGA cooler mounted.

  • Two Gainward 6800 Ultras in SLi mode - PCIe VGA Link Width: 8x

I have a K8N Diamond SLi board with two Gainward 6800 Ultras. When I have just one card inserted I get "PCIe VGA Link Width: 16x" in the BIOS, but when I have both cards in I get only "PCIe VGA Link Width: 8x", is this correct?
I also get a shaky/trembling display in everything direct3d when I'm in SLi mode, as soon as I turn it off the image is rock solid. It's like the complete image on screen shifts one vertical pixel line up and then back to normal again.. this happens at regular intervals while playing games and it's very annoying :\ Any ideas?

Check your BIOS configurations concerning SLI settings, PCI-E settings and so forth. Have you run any benchmarks with the SLI and Balance Bar modes enabled? You will find both in nVidia Settings! That should tell you if any one card is not pushing it's load!

The problem I'm having is that when I'm in SLI mode and I'm in a game, namely BF2 or Desert Combat I get these small black squares that look like static everytime I move my mosue to look in game from side to side. Or when I fly an aircraft in the game these small static black squares are everywhere. When I play with jjust one card everything is fine. I don't have the cards overclocked. As far as the drivers that I'm using, they are the 77.30 version. Before this started happening I used these drivers and everythng worked just perfect. Also when I'm in SLI mode I get frequent lock up's and system craches. Dose anyone have any idea what's going on and causing this?  I really need some answers here. Thanks for anyone who assists me with this.

  • Different NX 6800GT Revs. in SLI mode?

I have an ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe motherboard and ordered 2 MSI NX6800GT video cards. When they arrived, they looked different. One was mounted on a blue PCB and had a Revision 1 manual, and the second was mounted on a red PCB and came with a revision 2 manual. They both have the same model numbers on the boards, but I just can't get the dual-card set up to work.
Windows keeps telling me that in order to get the best performance I need to attach the SLI connector. The SLI is attached and the BIOS and ASUS EZ selector card are configured.
So, will SLI still work if the cards are the same model, but different revisions? Or is my SLI connector or video cards faulty and how can I test to see where the fault is?

If you recently just got both of those cards, like within the return window with the reseller, I would contact the reseller and tell them they were to be in SLI and you need two identical cards. Return one for exchange. Nowadays, when setting up an SLI rig and ordering both cards at the same time, you have to practice due dilligence to insure you get identical cards.
There is one other option, I haven't done this and it is more speculation on my part than anything. An educated guess would be to backup both BIOS's and flash one of the cards to match the other. Since you will have two BIOS's to work with, you could try either one on both cards but you have to be careful. You could also look for a modded BIOS for both. This would be last resort, and may even be a wild goose chase. I would first follow up with your reseller.
Take a look at both of the sites below and pay attention the "whiteBunny" site in the section called "FLASH BIOS UPGRADES" There is a utility you can test the BIOS temporarily to see if it will work, it's called "VGABios"
There should also be instructions on one or both of those sites on how to backup your BIOS.
MVKTECH.NET actually has MSI VGA BIOS's submitted by other members.
Good luck and let us know what the outcome is.
